Short version:
Before I head to bed I thought I'd ask a question. What's the easiest way to create and backup playlists?
Long Version:
I created a playlist with the inbuilt Music app, but when I flashed a rom, as I often do, Titanium Backup didn't backup or restore my playlist. What I did was backup all user apps and system data in TB and when I chose to restore "[PLAYLISTS] Media Storage 2.2.1" nothing ever happens and it takes an annoying while to recreate them by scratch. What did I do wrong? If I can get TB to restore my playlists everything would be golden, but it never does.
Also, I already purchased PowerAmp. So, I don't want to download and install another music app like WinAmp to create playlists. So, what's the easiest way to create and backup playlists?
Going to bed.
I just wanted to write I think figured out an easy way to create and backup playlists.
1. I put all my music on my Captivate's sdcard,
2. I loaded the music folder from my Captivate into Foobar2000. I'm sure you can use other media players.
3. I highlighted/deleted/rearranged all the songs I wanted in my playlist and saved it as a .m3u file.
4. I uploaded the .m3u file to the Captivate's sdcard and it works.
I haven't flashed a rom yet, but 'm hoping I can simply drag the playlist file back to my Captivate.

I am having issues with dd2.7 recognizing my pictures or music files.
root explorer will see them and play them.
it seems that whenever the os is looking for the files they are not in the right place.
it worked fin with the old dc2.08
it works fine with rc0 froyo
i have installed dd2.7/GS/uv then repartitioned the sd put the music files in /sdcard/media/music and it saw them and played them.....until i rebooted then it was back to not seeing them at all.
in fact I cant push any pictures to the sdcard and have them show up in the gallery they do show up if i take the picture with the camera.
i cant get any custom wallpapers to show up either
Do a full wipe, and reflash, but remember to nandroid
i am not a noob....
so yes i have done a full wipe.
i have reformatted my sdcard
i have tried without the GS installed.
logcat shows nothing
Don't know about pics, but I know with froyo I had a music problem. And went through every file with mp3 tagger and made sure there was id tag info for both 1 & 2. Pain in the ass, but it worked

I am about to undertake the task of factory restoring my Moto Droid (for reasons I won't bore you with). I'm rooted, and have Rom Manager for Nandroid backups (so I flashed a new recovery), but other than that I'm running stock.
I don't want to redownload all of my apps, so I want to copy them over to my PC and push them back to the phone later using adb. My issue is, I cannot find the apps I have moved to the SD card. What is their file pathway?
I've used Astro and Terminal Emulater (with the ls command) to try to find the pathway, but I'm at a complete loss.
Before you say anything, I know Astro can backup apps; however, it does not back up apps that are stored on the SD card. And I have too many apps to move them all to internal storage to back them up with Astro.
I really need to find the file pathway so I can copy the .apk's. Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
the easy way, try titanium backup

I ended up just playing 'musical chairs' with the apps on the SD card to put them on the internal storage to back them up with Astro. It worked pretty well, though was unnecessarily time consuming.
And a lot of the best features in Titanium cost; I know it's supporting the dev, but I'm an eternal cheap skate when it comes to apps...
What is the best method to backup apps, data, then update sdcard image and restore apps and data to the nook? Is there some instructions on how to do this. I want to update to sdcard froyo 0.6.8.2 but don't want to have to go through the process of installing apps 1 at a time.
My favorite app of all time is Titanium Backup. I believe it's only $5 in the market. It'll do a backup of all your apps.
The free version is fine but it doesn't allow "batching".
backup data as well?
So I have this app on my nook already, will this restore my data as well? By batch, you mean I will have to restore the apps from the backup 1 at a time correct?
I noticed when I transfered music back to nook, the music app did not see it correctly or at all unless I used a playlist app. I am guessing the music app lost the data related to the music files.

Get the Pro Key for Titanium Backup (Gives you Batch Restore) also you may want to, before updating or whatever, copy everything from your SDCard Partition on Nookie Froyo to your PC.
Also in order to Update you have to have Linux.
Next Follow my HowTo to Image your entire Nookie Froyo Install just in case you screw something up while updating. This way you can restore your Entire NookieFroyo like nothing happened.
[HOWTO] Make a Complete Backup of Your Nookie Froyo
Now follow the Instructions on on NookDevs to update NookieFroyo to the Latest version.

Also for Playing Music I suggest "MortPlayer" from the Market(Best Music App in my Opinion) It can play using Playlists but it can also play by Folder.
And for Video I highly suggest RockPlayer. VPlayer always crashes on me. RockPlayer is the Most Reliable Video App for the Nook Color. Go to their site and download the Arm7 version.

Hi guys,
I am running a PA at the moment and I want to switch over to CM9, however I would like to try and clean up the phone from all the app leftovers and stuff. With the SD card this is easy, I will just format it, but what do I do with the phone itself ? Is it possible to format the internal memory as well ( the part that is not used by the ROM) or should I just delete the folders created by the old installs etc ?
If there is a procedure for this, this one would be really grateful if someone could point him in the right direction.
Thank you
you can safely format your sd card (internal) via windows / mac without any issues, Just make sure to copy over your important stuff (pics, videos, music ect) before formatting, then copy them back after.
Android will rebuild its required files and folders upon a reboot. You could also try the app 'SD Maid' (free & paid) which keeps your sd card(s) free of junk, removing empty folders, Duplicate files and a whole lot more... Kinda like CCleaner for windows !
+1.
would love to know too.
EDIT:
Wait what?
So I could actually like delete all my files and folders on both the internal and external sd cards, and my device will still work perfectly fine with Android automagically regenerating all the required folders and stuff?
That is...
Awesome.
Sure You would need to reboot straight away tho !
only Android will rebuild its needed files, Not your apps, So you might need to back them up too, or make a Titanium backup before hand.
I format my SD cards everytime i do a full wipe. what i do is:
Connect to my PC
Make a titanium backup
Copy all my important things over (Roms, Mods, Pics, Music ect)
Format both SD cards
copy back to phone my important things
reboot into recovery
do a full wipe / factory reset, along with caches and dalvik cache
*install new ROM*
Reboot
Restore Titanium Backup
Google for squeaky clean install from rocketrom thread.

Thanks guys, I had no idea that android rebuilds itself, that is mind boggling to say the least.
btw, since we are talking backup and restore, do you guys have a good solution for backing up and restoring contacts other than Gmail? Kies doesn't work with custom roms sadly and with Gmail I can't only sync a certain group.
Thank you again

sure, Go to your contacts and select menu, Go to import / export and export them to your sd card, This will create a .vcf file, Then all you have to do is the same method but this time select import from sd card and select the file and hey presto, Contacts are back
Hi there i'm facing a little non annoying thing with google play music on my n6 CM13.
GPM says that i have 1.8gig of downloaded music but
The thing is the same even if i delete the app data, which in the download section say that it is using 1.3 gig but there's no files in /data/data
So if i choose to download on storage my playlist which is around 500mb it will be added to the 1.3 gig and so give it a 1.8
but there's no other music in the /data/data/[GPM]/file folder than the ones on playlist
is this "normal" ?
can it be because of those mp3 encryption and so when restoring a backup the files get not deleted but lost somewhere and downloaded again?
I've just realize that when restoring a backup and my only playlist was downloading again at boot showing the 1.3 gig....
Is this possible to have such a memory loss???
