[Q] HELP PLEASE BROKE MY HD2's Screen!!!

hi everyone so i managed to break my hd2s screen yeah i know it sucks.. right now im in the process of changing the digitizer for a new one i bought off of ebay.. i took the phone apart that was pretty simple but while doing so i removed many glue copper like stickers and also adhesive strips specially the one holding the digitizer and the lcd together.. my question is if anybody knows where i can buy the adhesive strips.. and most important the cooper like tape since it was covering the sides and the back part where the battery goes.. has anyone been successful at fixing their broken hd2 and is the copper-like tape important.. or can i just use some regular hot temperature resistant tape? well thanks in advance for the help

I know this doesn't really help you with your situation in any way but. I broke mine as well, and i just decided to let the insurance company handle it. I know it's expensive 130$ compared to the 50$ you could buy a new screen for. But they send you a brand new sealed in box phone, next day air shipping. I've only seen one video on how to replace the glass, and it was for the euro one, and it required, basically, completely disassembling the entire phone.

i broke the one on my blackstone bought one off ebay pretty cheap but i couldn't put it together ,i ended up paying $50 get it installed the right way

Replacing speaker cover

Hi all. I damaged the bottom speaker grill on my M7. Is it worth it and easy to replace?
How is it connected?
Also is this a genuine OEM part? http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-htc-one-top-cover-and-bottom-cover.html

They should be genuine yes. Heat the grill up, being careful not to overheat the phone and melt anything, then prise off the grill (its glued on), replace with the new one and press it down hard. Ideally you need to clamp it down until the glue sets otherwise you will have a large gap, use a strong bulldog clip or a clamp of some sort.

Did you end up trying the repair? Im really curious on how it goes. My One has a blown speaker the top, and i really want to find out how easy it would be to replace

I scratched mine on the bottom speaker grill two days after i bought it also trying to find a way to replace the grill.

Just a heads up. The top speaker grill with the sensors in it is screwed from behind on one corner. Only the bottom one is able to be removed with heat. In addition, the speakers are mounted in the frame from behind, So you will need to remove the chassis (which you will not do without damaging the housing.

So anyone attempted this yet?

i have both covers here now, luckily the bottom one looks glued, as there is nothing to screw it, but the top one is definitely screwed it has a piece with thread on it to attach a screw.. luckily for me my bottom one is damaged more than the top..
so has anyone removed a bottom cover?

Hi i was able to remove my HTC One M7s Back with 3 Guitar picks by first sliding out the volume button, Then sliding it along the frame and clamping it so it didnt close where needed my HTC One M7 Came silver now its almost fully blacked out will post pictures after full restoration of body and screen.

Replacing Spreaker Grills

Ok so I have the silver HTC One and as much as I love it, I can't help but think the front would look bad-ass with the black speaker grills...
I was wondering if anyone has any experience replacing their speaker grills, I remember seeing a drop test video and it popped off. The guy in the video mentioned how it didn't clip back on, it was glued on.
I think if it was easy enough to get a stanley blade in between the grill and the plastic it could just pop off (mine has a gap so it could be quite easy) then it would also help in the future if any scratches happen, just to replace them again...
Thoughts?

thats a good idea, itll be great to know if the speaker grills are repleacable, as they are slightly raised on most phones

I'm just worried incase I order the replacment parts and they are not the same quality as the real HTC One parts. Is there a site that sells genuine parts? They would need to ship to the UK for me though...

If you are, I'd recommend sandpaper tape and some spray paint. That would probably be easier than disassembly. Maybe even some black nail polish.

I know the top may be more difficult to get off because of the camera and I think I will wait a few more months to see if anyone does drop their One and the top part pops off... But it would be interesting to know because this could be useful to those who get any real bad damage to their speaker grills...

The speaker grills are glued to the housing, Removing them shouldn't be hard

The bottom one is definitely glued, I am not sure about the top one though

I agree that the black would look pretty cool. Let us know how this turns out! and take pictures of the process. I myself am curious whats behind the top grill, my speaker on the top is starting to crackle horribly i want to know if it would be possible to replace.

One of mine (the bottom grill) has a small chip in it that really annoys me, so i have ordered a new set. Postage to the UK is quite expensive, but the total was only £24. Not that bad considering its an original part I guess.
Removing the grills shouldnt be too hard, just heat them up with a hot air gun, being careful not to 'cook' the phone and carefully prise the grill up. The gap most people have in the case may be a help here. The new one should just press on. Warm it up, press it down and hold it firmly until cool, with a clamp or strong bulldog clip if you can.

Etradesupply.com sells almost everything for HTC one just so everyone knows if they didn't, u also have a tiny chip in my lower speaker grill, but my case hides it for now so I'm not super worried, but I would love to know if this is possible!!

The grills and the SIM tray are about the only things you can replace. They sell screens, but there is no realistic way to replace them. Even if you could open the phone without marking it, putting it back together is almost impossible.

Etradesupply quality is very good. I order parts from them and never have an issue.
Heat gun or hair dryer to loosen up the glue should help.

Just a tip, do not "paint" the grill. It's impossible to do without stuffing up the holes anyway.. And paint does not stick to aluminium.
You need to anodise aluminium.
Google how to do it but in a nutshell..
1) chemically clean existing aluminium to remove all traces of colour /surface protection. 2)Anodise it to required colour or clear colour
This not only gives you the look you want but makes the surface very hard.
Anodising also is not "on" the surface but part of it so it won't scratch off, block holes etc.
Bare aluminium is very soft and WILL oxidise and go dull. Apart from living in a vacuum or learning to breathe argon gas, you can't stop it.
Anodising MAKES aluminium oxidise and then fill the surface with a dye. This prevents further oxidisation.

I asked about this a different thread and one of the people that replied told me that only the bottom grill is glued in. He said the top is actually screwed in from the back before the back cover is put on. I cant confirm if he was correct, but still good info for anyone planning to try something like this. Can anyone confirm that has purchased these if there are threads in the top grill for it to be screw in?

Hi, I damaged my phone on the top so I am trying to replace the top speaker grill cover, I already have the replacement but I have no idea how to do it without messing my phone. I have investigated a lot and in the only teardown video I fount the top spekar grill seems to always be attached to the phone, and the ifixit guid has no information on this part of the phone. Please if anyone has done it or knows how to do this any kind of help would be useful as I can't stand to se my phone damaged no more.

Good luck, from everything I have seen it is glued to the phone. YMMV but my guess you would need to heat it up, peel it off the phone and then figure some way to glue the new one on.

It looks like the speakers are step 17 in the link below and there are 19 streps shown to dismantle (at that site anyways).

Thanks!!! the thing is I dont want to replace my speakers I only need to replace the top front cover of the speaker, and I cant seem to find a tutorial to do that

You are most likely not going to find any thing related to your speaker grill replacement. This phone is not meant to be and have user replaceable parts.
Even most of the pros won't touch it to replace parts, but they buy them to strip for parts to sell to people that want to attempt DIY repairs only to further destroy the phone.
If you do figure it out and everything is repairable, working, and looks new please post a guide.

HTC One Top Cover Replacement
Guys,
I am ordering the top cover (& bottom cover parts) from this site:

My top cover has deep dink/dent since I dropped it from waist high to the floor (NAKED).
The replacement will arrive in 10-15 days from Today.
The top cover speaker grill is glued and screwed while the bottom cover speaker grill only glued.
I manage to take off the top cover by pulling it off and cut the screwed part. I don't want to open the screw since it can be only opened if you open the whole back chassis of the phone.
When the top cover part arrive, I will cut the screw part and just glue it to the phone.
Currently I am using my secondary phone which is the boring iPhone 5, it is still boring even with iOS 7 installed.
Will update the post with pictures and guides when the replacement arrive, wish me luck guys!! :good::good:

bottom speaker not working(NO SOUND)

hi everyone,
i'm trying to reassembly my Z3 compact but now the bottom speaker is not working even after i place back the middle frame to make contact. as you all knows, the bottom speaker only works when you put back the middle frame because the contact to mainboard are in there.
well, if you check the photos you'll see that one part of the middle frame is broken, even after i placed the middle frame back same as it was the bottom speaker still not working (no sound)
is that have to do with the broken part of the frame?
anyone knows how exactly the bottom speaker make contact to mainboard in order to work?
also what are the side pins surrounding the mainboard? (those pins make contact with the middle frame too)

If I'm not wrong 2 pins right next to speaker are those You are looking for and silver part of frame is used to connect speaker to those pins. Rest silver lines are GPS or WiFi antenna.

All u need is some basic soldering skills and thin wires to connect the speaker directly from the board (don't have the images but my speaker is connected like this). It's very easy.And for the broken middle frame-u gonna need to glue it together and work on those gray antennas (use the wire again and solder it again)

yeah, you were right, i connected two wires to the pins next to the speaker and it worked.. i might solder it if im not gonna buy a new frame!

well, for the antenna if i leave it like that u think i'll get a bad wifi signal?
i might order a new frame, i found it as OEM SONY for $11 + $3 shipping fees.
do you think when i buy the new frame the speaker will work again after i place that frame firmly ?

I am not sure for either of those questions :/ U just might solder it and it's good to go (speaker) As for antenna, just reassemble it and see how's the signal. Maybe you don't need another frame at all

Sure, You can wire it but then You must insulate silver contacts on frame to avoid short circuit. Other way ~15$ for frame is not that much if You want to be done like it should.

The frame became a bit messed it up after i tried to remove the silver contacts of the speaker with the soldering gun, the plastic became a bit popped, and bumpy, and it's not as flat as it should be, so it might bother the back cover from being sealed firmly, and there would be pressure that could risk cracking it, so i'm deciding to get me a new replacement frame

Hey all
I have no sound on bottom speaker even after replacing the plastic frame and the bottom speaker. I suspect I have no sound on the bottom speaker after I dropped the phone once. Any ideas at all?

make sure the 2 pins on the mainboard aren't bent down, because this would prevent them (or one of them) to make contact with the silver part of the frame that make bottom speaker works!

while I was trying to make sure that the pins are not bent and the make contact with the metal in the plastic frame, I have managed to unstick one from the motherboard. so now definitely I know that I have one more problem. before I break anymore more, I will give up trying to fix it. Thank you for your answer!

yeah, i know, same what happened to me with my z3c... one of the pins got broken so i had to solder the contact with wires.. and the speaker back to work!
