[Q] Diamond 2 won't sync with windows 7 - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Since a week I have a new windows 7 installation on my PC. Due to a motherboard and HD change, I choose to change from Vista to Win 7.
Everything is working fine, but I have the problem that my Diamond 2 will not start to sync with windows / outlook..
With windows Vista, I had no problems with synchronising my phone with the PC.
The Diamond 2 is recognised by Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 (WMDC), I CAN update the weather info through the connection (so the "internet" part works), but WMDC stays "hanging" (e.g. not starting) on the synchronisation part.
I already de-installed WMDC a couple of times and installed a fresh download. I also deleted the previous parthership settings (and the windows 7 partnership settings) from my phone. Also I tried to run WMDC in the Windows Vista 32 bits compability mode.
At first, I saw that the Outlook .PST file had another name (outlook1) This is changed to just Outlook.pst
Does anyone has an idea to actually let WMDC not to hang on the synchronisation?
On the phone I have WM 6.5 (HTC original ROM). Settings to sync: Agenda, contacts and tasks (I don't use e-mail on the phone)
PC: Windows 7 32 bits, Outlook (MS Office) 2007, WMDC 6.1
The connection settings in WMDC 6.1: USB connections allowed (box is checked). The second allowed connections (for bluetooth) is unchecked. The computer is connected with "automatically) And both the checkboxes "automatic verification...." and "dataconnection with device allowing when connected to PC"
I'm sorry when this question is already asked, but in my search, I only saw threats which does not match my problem..
Thanks in advance for the help!!

Thank for the advice, after a little search where to find this setting (seemed to be on the phone), Windows 7 installed a new driver (pocket pc USB sync).
After a few seconds of waiting, WMDC began to synchronise!!!
I'm happy, thank you very much for this (rather simple ) solution!

glad to have helped you. Forgot to mention the setting is on the phone :-S. Cheers!!!

Active sync error message, please help

I am happy i have WM5 finally working and sweet on my MDA III, but i cannot syn my device with my outlook, or anything. I have tried with Outlook open, it gives me "Support code: 85010014" i have uninstalled and deleted the folder, repaired outlook and i am not using activesync 4.1 and it is still giving th error message. I also have SP2, everything up to date. I have deleted and created new pathnerships, and uninstalled and reinstalled, still getting the same problem. Please any ideas will help. It is not connecting to an exchange server, i have also read around so i decided to post mine.
Activesync and WM5
Activesync under WM5 is different than under WM2003. You didn't indicate how you were trying to sync, I assume via a usb cradle/cable. With WM2003 the syncronization via a usb protocol. For some reason under wm2005, they decided to switch to TCP/IP.
If you look in your PC's network connections with your phone plugged in you will find a window's mobile local area connection. Unplug the cable and the local area connection drops off. The observation is that you now have to allow this connection through whatever firewalls you have setup. This week when ever I had the firewall turn on ActiveSync would not work. I eventually removed and reinstalled Activesync 4.0 (I was on 4.1) and I assume the installation process configured my XP firewall correctly this time around. Check your firewall settings.
Tried it
I only have the windiws firewall, i even disabled the micrisoft antispyware and it still giving me the same error message
Activesync, WM5 and Windows Firewall
Check your Windows Firewall exceptions, I have the following exceptions for the Windows Firewall:
ActiveSync Application (WCESMgr.exe)
Activesync Connection Manager (wcescomm.exe)
Activesync RAPI manager (rapimgr.exe)
Activesync Service (TCP Port 26675)

Actually I believe you will find it needs ports 5678, 5679, 990, 26675, and 5721. Hope that helps
Hi,
I have the same problem too. I just updated to ROM1.60c and ActiveSync 4.1 build 4807. When I try to sync, tt keeps giving me the error code 85010014.
The funny thing is, I have no problems syncing Notes from Outlook. But the other Outlook items like Contacts, Calendar and Tasks are not so lucky.
What's happening? How come only Notes can sync?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Tried it
i have tried it all, it is not working, i have disabled all firewall, something keeps popping up on my pda that it cannot get an ip, i just ignore from reading the wiki. I cannot get MS voice command to work, after install i get an error message, i really want to use WM5, i can do with out voice command, but active sync is very important. i think i will use active sync 3.8 in the mean while see if it works :?
obiesoft,
Are you using OST feature of Outlook? If so, make sure your Outlook client is connected to your Exchange Server during your first sync (i.e. when prompted choose "Connect" not "Work Offline", if not prompted check settings in Control Panel-Mail). Not to be confused with having ActiveSync connect directly to Exchange Server. This solved my problem with 85010014.
Good luck!
i am not using an exchange server, just outlook on a desktop, it syns perfectly on my laptop, so i am trying to find where the problem is. Also, my bluetooth always disconnects, why is this and how can i solve it?
Can i please get more help
Ok, My device synced with my laptop (which connects over wireless to the internet at home). I was happy about this so i copied my pst files from my outlook from desktop to the outlook folder on laptop and it now asks for password to an exchange server??? all this is weird, i just want all my contacts to go in with my calender info. Also the bluetooth is rubbish, it disconnects, any fixes or tricks to keep it up and running? i use HBH 300 headset. Also voice command is installed but when i activate it, it says "voice command ready" and then an error message pops us. I love WM5, but anything to fix these glitches so i can keep using it? Help will be greatly appreciated.
Hmm... sorry, don't have much else to add... might be time to unsinstall and re-install Outlook on your desktop....
Bluetooth
Well i will keep trying with outlook or if worst comes to the worst, enter everything onto my pda by hand. (DAMN).
But besides that, is anyone having problems with bluetooth? mine keeps disconnecting.

I also have the same problem. It has been driving me nutts for 4 days now.
WORKING!!!
I have a desktop which i sync my WM2003 with, but since i upgraded, i have been having problems. Now it is working, but this is what i did, nothing too technical
1. I have a laptop which has most of my downloads and programs i write for school and work.
2. I installed active sync 4.0 on my laptop and synced, it worked, but my data is on my desk top
3. on the desktop i went to C:\Documents and Settings\jiggaman\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook (jiggaman is name of my desktop) and copied the personal data files to the same path on my laptop, then i opened outlook, deleted the dupilcate email accounts and synced, it worked!!
4. It updated my PDA and latop, all this means now is that i have to sync with laptop, not desktop anymore. So if you have another computer, you can try this cause it would not sync for the past 2 weeks with my desktop.
Good luck!
Any ideas on bluetooth? it is still acting up.
Re: Support Code 85010014
Hi there,
I had this problem with a PPC-6700 from Sprint. (EVDO HTC Apache with WM2005) I hacked around a lot, did the repairs, reinstalled ActiveSync, no go. I decided to reinstall Outlook and, for some reason, that did the trick. I also have 2 different versions of Office, Pro 2003 and the Student and Teacher Edition. I think I had problems with installing from the pro cd, but I'm not certain. Not sure if it has something to do with that or not.
I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014.
I also run Eudora and Incredimail Plugin for Outlook on both PCs, Work and Home. Both are on XP Pro SP2 and when I installed ActiveSync 4.1 on my work PC without issue, I decided to attack my Home PC Outlook installation to see if I could resolve the issue.
So, At home:
Putting Outlook in Offline mode did not solve the problem.
I uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 - No difference.
I backed up Outlook via 3rd party program to grab account settings as well as my 2GB pst file then ran Help->Detect and Repair... - reboot, no difference.
I then ran Control Panel -> Add or remove Programs -> Office 2003 and chose to modify my installation by adding or removing components. I unchecked Outlook and updated it to remove Outlook from my Office 2003 suite. Then returned to this option and re-checked Outlook to add it back to my Office 2003 Suite, CD-Rom in hand but updating it did not ask for the Office 2003 Install CD-Rom... - Rebooted and connected - Bingo NO 85010014 error!

Foxnolds! You are a genius! This worked for me just as you described - many thanks! My Wizard will be here in 3 days, but for now I was going mad not being able to get WM5 on my pda2k to sync with Outlook until I tried your solution. Voila!

I'm glad it worked for you also.
I have since chosen to "Delete Mobile Device" from ActiveSync as I did not like the name it had chosen. I then disconnected, went to PDA
Start->Settings->System->About->Device ID
then set it to want I want it to read.
I then connected to ActiveSync and predictably saw the new connection wizard, BUT it warned it could not see Outlook at all! It suggested I install a version of Outlook etc. even though it was visible and running on my desktop!
I connected anyway - Contacts, Tasks, Calendar, Notes options greyed out.
Rebooted PC XP Pro SP2 and now ActiveSync options were available. I enable Syncing of Contacts, Tasks, Calendar and Notes. Resynced and got the dreaded 85010014 error status again!
UnInstalled and Re-Installed Outlook 2003 from the Office Suite but did not reboot PC. ReSynced and this time I get Windows PC: Attention required Error 8503001f

Maybe a reboot is required... So I'll post this and see...
I have now found that uninstalling the Outlook component from Office 2003, rebooting then re-installing Outlook component to be effective 90% of the time in curing ActiveSync errors.
To solve the hardest 10%, I have found that I need to update the Windows\system32\MAPI32.DLL which only can be done without Outlook or WCESMgr.exe running. (Use Windows Task Manager to kill them first)
See zip file of the MAPI32.DLL that always works for me, even if the existing version says it's identical (i.e. from Windows Copy Dialog).
I now have two XP SP2 PCs syncing up to WM2003SE XDA II and my WM2005 i-mate Jasjar.
P.S. I found a solution to AvantGo over sized text in WM2005, use Tweaks2K2 .NET version 3.15.0 feature #75-Double Pixeling deactivation for individual programs in VGA Devices.
I now manually sync via WiFi on my Jasjar using "AvantGo Connect" application, like I manually sync WeatherPanel as required as GPRS charges are criminal in this country!
Contacts wont sync on upgraded BlueAngel
I upgraded to WM5 and things are good so far. I had some trouble Syncing with 4.1 on my pc but not with my laptop. The problem now is that I have only been able to get my contacts to sync partially. Ive looked through the posting, but I have not been able to find any solutions. Any one out there know a way around this problem or a solution I should say.

Vista WMDC6 (6.1 too) sync issue

I am running HTC TyTN II, Windows Vista Business and WMDC 6 (and alternatively 6.1). I cannot complete sync with Outlook 2007. Always get locked on at Calendar sync. Anyone with same problem, or solution. I have tried numerous suggestions and posts relating to synch issues; none worked. tks,
Same problem, on both Vista Home Premium and Active Sync 4.5 on Win XP SP2 ("Attention Required" error). I think there are some other threads relating to this. It's really annoying!
i thought if you had vista you couldnt use activesync. you need windows media center or something like that
in my case I am using WMDC6. and also used WMDC6.1
Problem is the same in both cases.

Read it again ' on both Vista Home Premium and Active Sync 4.5 on Win XP SP2 '
I had the same issue too on XP . Installed Outlook 2003 all is well
is this an HTC issue only?
My guess a Microsoft Outlook 2007 issue
I'm syncing Calendar, Contacts and Tasks between Outlook 2007 and my Tilt using LapLink PDASync. PDASync lets me sync my 'personal folders'. By default, WMDC only lets you sync your exchange folders, which I don't want to do.
I am using Vista Ultimate & Outlook 2007. I sync my Tilt (stock Rom) via Windows Sync Center (part of Windows Mobile Device Center) and have no problems of any kind.
Ive been getting sync errors for about 2 weeks now using outlook 2007 and WMDC 6.1 It used to be fine then suddenly stopped working, yet my qtek 9000 and my MDA Vario both sync fine, both have wm6 roms. so it must be a kaiser bug
I have Vista Business and Outlook 2007. The only time my sync fails is when I have Outlook open. If it is closed, there is no problem.
I was having problems with WMDC 6.1 after upgrading it from WMDC 6.0.
I've been having more luck after removing it and re-installing though. I think I remember some sites saying that there is an option to doing with enabling scripts for personal folders, which could be blocking the connection between activesync/WMDC.
I'm on Vista, WMDC 6.1 and Outlook 2007 (not the full office suite).

WM 6.1 Activesync & Vista WMDC data direction

Hi -- I'm running Vista Business' WMDC on my PC and WM 6.1's (ATT's unreleased, official WM6.1 ROM) ActiveSync on my Tilt. I have the sync set to replace the data on the device, but find that on occasion (mainly calendar items, but contacts, too) are being updated on my PC. Do I have the capability to fully control the direction of the sync? I want to sync only from the PC to the phone, not the phone to the PC, as any changes I make will be done at the PC.
With your phone connected via WMDC go to Mobile Device Settings>Manage a Partnership>PC Settings>choose the "If there is a conflict" dropdown menu and choose replace items on device, save.

That's exactly how I have it set, Alemaker. I've oftentimes dismissed a reminder (I set reminders days or weeks in advance and then change the reminder date as the time/date gets closer) on my Tilt, only to find it also dismissed on my PC, not reminding me at all. Until I find a definite solution, I've gotten into the habit of not dismissing the reminders on the phone. I just want to prevent the phone from doing any updating to the PC.
o.k.
This forum is a great place for issues and you may want to try posting this in the MSFT PPC newsgroups also. they can be found at microsoft.public.pocketpc. I'm sure between here and there, someone has seen this or can offer a solution.
The above setting does just what it says, uses the action you choose in case of conflict i.e same item has been changed on both devices. ActiveSync doesn't have an option to act like you want, so unless there's a hack somewhere there's no way.

6.5.1 6.5.3 still cannot sync PIM of outlook via usb??

i tried 23xxx and 280xx, activesync cannot continue with PIM sync... But on ROM 21xxx, it works fine.

Try unchecking the "Enable faster data synchronization" box in settings/connections/USB to PC
That might help, it did the trick for me.
i have a similar problem.
Windows recognizes the device and starts syncing, but the progressbar remains empty... after a few minutes, an error is given.
I use the newest energy rom with 2.1 manila and 28xxx basis. The 21xxx syncs fine.
Please try the above tip and report back if it worked for you.

Same problem here, with 28005.
Using Win7 and Outlook 2007.
Syncing does not work, and file transfer is really really slow (0.1-0.2MBps).

guys i am on 28005 and on windows 7 with outlook 2010... i am fine..
my first sync i will sync contacts and soft restet and contacts with calander, it works fine... also if your Outlook PST file is on USB, SD, Micro SD or anything but your hard drive you will have problems...
hope you can sync, as the 28005 roms are cool, fast and stable...
I'm running the latest Energy build 28005 Sense 2.1 ROM and have no problems syncing with Outlook after doing the following:
- Un-check 'Enable Faster Data Synchronization' option in Settings / Connections / USB to PC
- Connect to PC, set up sync options, wait a few minutes. The first sync will never really start.
- Disconnect device from PC & soft reset - reconnect to PC. Activesync works normally from this point on. It is slow, but it works.
For what its worth, I sync contacts, calendar, notes, and files with Outlook & PC. I also have an exchange server set up for push mail from gmail. The gmail source is mail only.
From what I've seen, the key is to soft reset after the initial connection attempt - and definitely disable fast data. At least that's what works for me. If you really need fast data syncing, I think you have to stick with WM 6.5 or 6.1 - not 6.5.x.

After an update to the latest ROM, I have been getting the following error "Synchronization could not continue because one or more objects are in use. Close programs on this PC and on your device and try again." Anyone run into this one? I can't seem to find a solution on the web.

WMDC on Windows 8 PC and Office 15 Preview

Hello,
I have installed Windows 8 (x64) + Office 15 Preview (x86) and when I connected my Windows Mobile 6.5 (Topaz) on PC it installed WMDC 6.1 (6.1.6965) and my phone got detected and started Sync with the Outlook profile. But IT FAILED during Sync.
Error:
Exchange ActiveSync encountered an error. If this condition persists, please contact your System administrator.
Not sure if this is going to work. If any one has got this working please let me know the workaround.
Note: The outlook was without any email configured. It was only for Address book and calender.
Thanks.

Thanks orb3000, But this was for Windows 8 Desktop OS for PC, not for Win Phone 8. So I hope this is the right forum?
Thanks.
I actually believe that this is the wrong forum.
Most likely WMDC can't work correctly with the new version of Outlook - at least that would be my guess. You could try it with a version of Outlook you used prior to Windows 8. As Microsoft sees Windows Mobile as 2 years dead I'm pretty sure they won't put much work into Office compatibility with it.

Agree with the forum .
Yes and also thinking it is the Outlook 15 that cant work properly with the OLD Sync Framework that WMDC uses. May be when we will have the RTM it may work, but not sure .
Thanks.
no more MAPI
It seems there will be no more MAPI in office 15 (replaced by RPC over HTTPS like in Outlook Anywhere)
And I think WMDC is using MAPI for sync so that's finished.
you will need to use Office 2010 if you want to sync WM phone
WMDC 6.1 not working with Windows 8 and Office 2010

Hi guys,
Just upgraded to Windows 8, it installed WMDC 6.1 as part of the process. Now my sync with my HTC Touch Pro 2 (WM 6.1) isn't working, despite the fact that I am using MS Office 2010. MS Partner Support (I am a member of the MS Partner Network) is still investigating.
Anyone has any suggestions/clues?
If this isn't fixed soon, I may have to switch to iPhone, as Windows Phone 8 is still months away.
Cheers!

Having the identical problem with my Samsung ACE I-325. No clue why.
Anyone??????
Windows 8, Office Outlook 2010, Windows Mobile Device Center WMDC, Windows Mobile 6.x
Same sync problem on Windows 8 RTM (x86) and Office Outlook 2010 Pro about Windows Mobile Device Center.
I have tryed with many Windows Mobile 6 phones, but the problem seems always the same.
I can just sync Notes, but not Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, etc.
It seems like WMDC CAN'T access (write/read) to Outlook.pst file.
