[Q] You Tube on Nexus One not working right - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got my Nexus about a week ago and I've pretty much figured the phone out by now. However one Issue I have is with the You Tube application.(part of the firmware)
I will get a still image of the video and audio on You Tube at first. Then when I select watch in normal quality the application either stop responding or I get and error message saying the video can't be played.
I was told by the guy who sold me the phone that it used to have Cyanogen installed on it but now it currently has the shipping (stock) ROM installed on it using AmonRA as the bootloader. He got the phone directly from Google when they first came out.
Suggestions ?

Reinstall Youtube app?

I wish I could or knew how. It's part of the firmware. There isn't even an option to get rid of it as it does not show up under the list of installed aps.

Grab the updated version from the Market.

I already tried that and it's not showing me a you tube aplication.

Is the boot-loader unlocked?
Is the phone rooted?
I'm assuming since you said it has CM7 on it, that the boot-loader is unlocked.
In this case you could try flashing a different ROM that has gapps bundled into it, or just flash over the gapps zip.

The phone is NOT rooted as I ran test using a app called Android Terminal Emulator and typed in "SU" I got back "permission denied" I have no idea if the bootloader is unlocked. For flashing ..Well I've never flashed a phone before so I would have no idea what I was doing or how to do it.

Try the attachment I uploaded, its the new YouTube app. Took it straight from my phone.
Just copy to SD card, and use a file manager to install it.

Using astro file manager and when I select open with app manager it says it cannot open the file you uploaded for me. I tried a different file manager and this one said it had problem parsing the file.

Hmmm. Sounds like some type of data loss when downloading the file. Try redownloading again. I just download it and it worked fine for me. Also, could try downloading it through the xda app on the market. Its what I just did and it worked fine.

Download directly from the site on the app and it still says problem parsing the package. I don't have a rooted phone and its using stock firmware.

Ok try this since you can't find it on the market on the device.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.youtube
Also are you running 2.1 or 2.2?

I'm using 2.1 and I've checked for updates by going to settings-about phone-System updates. I can't get the newer 2.2 version as far as I know. I could always root the phone. I've googled on how to do it and it looks pretty straight forward.
For my firmware:
I have basebrand version: 32.36.00.28u_4.06.00.12_7
Kernel Version 2.6.29: gad36b87 [email protected]#1
Build Number: ERD79

Upgrade to the latest 2.2.2 stock or custom ROM. It'll bring you tons of benefits besides making Youtube work.

Do this:
1)Read the wiki in Jack_R1's signature.
2)Do a nandroid backup from recovery (amon_ra).
3)Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=927935. Download the first file "Stock, with no modifications but root". Move it to your SDcard. (This is the latest stock ROM (FRG83G / 2.2.2) with root access. It is unmodified except allowing for root access.)
4)Flash it through recovery

I don't think he even has a custom recovery.
So with assuming he does not.
Follow this link and use the guide there to upgrade to froyo.

In reading his first post, he mentions having AmonRa as the bootloader... If he does have that, then fixing the issue by flashing a new ROM should be pretty straight forword.

Ok so I read the guide and it seems to be straight forward. Gonna read over it a couple more time tomorrow to make sure it's sinking in.

I'm stuck in the guild at stage 2.."Setup SDK"..The guide does no tell you that you need this special version of Java to open the program.. I have both SDK and the java setup on the computer. However where I'm stuck is simply getting windows to install usb drivers for the phone. I went to update drivers and told it to look in the folder SDK was installed and it refused by saying there was no drivers for the phone in there. When I set up the SDK program there is no option for "usb drivers" for me to even install..

I update to FRG83D and I guess i lost root. I attempted to restore flash clock world mod again but .nothing happens when i confirm I tried to do a backup from Titanium backup and of course it says i'm not rooted. Then I tried to go into Superuser app and it asked me to update. I attempted to and I got an error the su was not updated. A zip file (su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip) has been placed on your sdcard, please reboot into recovery mode and flash it to update your su binary.
Sorry for the long winded explanation, but i'm totally frustrated. I've been trying to fix this for 2hrs. Oh yeah I originally got root using universal androot and it still says im rooted. I clicked unroot but it doesn't work. I'm confused cuz androot says i'm rooted, but Superuser and Titanium backup says i'm not.

Thank you danger-rat. I'm back to stock frg83. It only took about 10mins. Now I'm trying figure out how to get back to root. None of the one click methods seem to be working. Superoneclick, z4root, androot. Once again Thank YOU
Super one click works for frg83 and frg83d. You will need a computer. I got it from the unlockr. It has step by step instructions. It was easy and works perfectly.

Is it the case for a Nexus One replacement unit that has never been rooted or altered in any way? I got it with FRG83 and installed FRG83D as soon as I received it. I tried SOC method but it was stuck on 'waiting for device' message. Not sure if it is because of an old XP machine or HTC Evo cable I was using.
Upgrade the SuperOneClick and the Nexus One drivers to their latest versions. It DOES work. The least it does is presenting you with a root shell in ADB - which is enough to root manually.

I tried both SOC 1.5.1 and 1.5.5 with .net 2.0.5x in the XP machine. I just used the files included in the zip, isn't it that it has latest Nexus One drivers too? Sorry, I am a Mac,Linux guy and not much experience with ADB stuff on Windows.
It might not be the latest drivers, since the latest SOC (I don't remember, I believe it was 1.5.5) finished the rooting procedure correctly on FRG83D, tested several days ago, less than a week. The latest drivers are in the SDK, they need to be installed and the phone has to have "USB Debugging" enabled.

Thank you! I guess I have no other option but to install Windows on my Mac. I was feeling lucky and I thought Linux or Mac can use SOC but it is proving difficult and I haven;t come across a single reply who stated success on Linux/Mac!
Uh, why SOC? Use any of the others you just run directly on the phone..

They don't exist for FRG83D just yet and I am not sure if we can downgrade to FRF91 or some other firmware without unlocking bootloader.
You can install Windows in any type of VM, as long as you can forward the USB to it. I can use my Nexus in Linux under VirtualBox, after I forward the USB device to VirtualBox.

when it hangs at waiting for device, unplug usb and then plug it back in and it should find your device.

With all the time wasted searching for other methods, you would have had root on your device already if you just did it manually. It is so simple, takes like 20 mins, and it doesn't require a Windows PC.
I really don't understand why people search for so long for a "1-click" when doing it manually doesn't take that much more effort.
Rooting so is simple with the binaries available:
1) Put rageagainstthecage on your device, change permissions to allow it to run, run it, and presto, it gives you a root shell.
2) Now that you have a root shell, all you have to do is put su in the /system/bin directory, change the permissions so that it can run, and presto, you have root.
And given that rageagainstthecage exploits a vulnerability in the way adb works, this method will work for all devices without a NAND lock.
Rageagainstthecage so easy a caveman can do it.

[Q] HTC HERO 2.32.651.2 Root Help

PLEASE SEE BOTTOM OF OP FOR STEP BY STEP WALKTHROUGH
Hello Guys,
I’m a Sprint HTC Hero owner who is trying to get CM 6.1
My device has the latest OTA update 2.32.651.2
I went ahead and tried z4root which has 2 options, temporary and permanent. Went ahead and did temporary and it stated that it was rooted. Superuser shows up in my apps, so I went ahead and installed ROM manager as a youtube video said (gave a full successful walkthrough)…I open ROM Manager up and it says – You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found at “/system/bin/su” or “/system/xbin/su”.
Now using Astro File Manager, I checked those directories and it wasn’t there as ROM Manager stated, but in my SD Card, I see su-2.3.1-bin-signed…
Now my question is, should I try it with permenant root?
If not, what is the recommended next step?
Should I delete/uninstall everything I have that’s related to my previous root attempt and do the following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804296
I’m an Accounting major and a noob at this stuff…and I see people helping each other out here which is awesome, but I get confused trying to keep up with some posts where people are sent to other posts and so forth :/
Thank u in advance! Happy Holidays!
-------------------------------------------
Below is the process on a step by step basis from which i was able to complete it with the help of skndeep102. Thanks again buddy!
-Download z4root here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
-Install and run app, press on Permenant Root
-Let it run until it says it has completed
-Once it has completed you will see the Superuser app in your drawer
-Download Rom Manager from the Market
-Open Rom Manager and press on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery at the top (give it a bit as it has to download it and then install)
I had already downloaded the CM 6.1 rom and had it on the SD card
-So i went ahead and hit reboot to recovery in ROM Manager
-Once it is in recovery, go ahead and scroll down to Nandroid and do a backup
-once you do a back up press back and reboot
-Once it starts up again head over to ROM Manager and select Install ROM from SD Card
-Look for the Rom, select it, and it asks you to Wipe Device and Cache, select both
-It reboots to recovery, select the rom and install
I hope i didnt miss a step, but thats pretty much it if i remember it correctly (spent much more time reading than actually doing, lol) Also, if there is something that isnt touched upon here just go ahead and read through as several questions were asked and answered along the way.
Hope it helps!
* Process confirmed to still be working as of 1/5/2011

i am in the same position...the recommendation to me was to RUU to an older version and then root. I am not sure how to do that, so im hoping someone has another solution.
I personally dont trust those one click root options. Manual root requires a little more reading but I have never had an issue that way.
You can always try the permanent option. I dont see why you wouldnt want permanent anyway. If you use the temporary, its gonna unroot you when you reset your phone.

RUU back to an older version just requires that you have the htc drivers installed and the ruu exe. You just double click the ruu exe and follow the instructions.

I'm in the process of trying it...its been stuck at Rebooting for a couple mins now... :/
Wait and see at this point, i guess...
OK so I did the permenant root...and appearantly it worked since z4root is telling me it is and it now gives me the option to re-root and undo root...Also, when I open Rom Manager, it isn't telling me to root the phone...
However, I saw in another forum that a way to check if it is rooted is to download a terminal emulator and type in "su" after the $ ...When i do that it tells me permission denied....
What next?

Where do I get this?
Just a heads up, it seems the root works, the su file is in bin and i tested out drocap2 screencapture app and gave it superuser permission. Worked perfectly...now if i could know where to get ClockworkMod Recovery as the Rom Manager I got from the market did not bring it :/
Use the "un-option" and try another method. I installed a stock ruu on my phone this morning to update my prl and tried the same app. It doesn't flash everything you need like the "flash_image" file. You need that to flash a recovery. I just re-rooted my phone the same way I did back in July. Take note that I am with cellular south and all I had to do is run a batch file and oila, there I am sitting in recovery. If you want to try another "root via app" method, you can try this-->View attachment UniversalAndroot.apk .
Instructions:
Open app and root
Download Rom Manager(which you have) and flash cm recovery.
I still think it probably won't work, but you can try anyway. I think these "rooting apps" only do enough so you can use apps like "AddFree"(or whatever it is) and others like it.
EDIT: In Rom Manager, the very first tab(up at the top) should say"Flash ClockworkMod Recovery". Press that one. It would ever flash for me until I went back to me nandroid.

Just a heads up, what worked for me, once I was rooted and downloaded ROM Manager I had to install Superuser.apk, then when I tried to flash clockwork recovery I got the Superuser dialog box asking for permission, then select allow. another awesome program to help is Android Commander that you install on your PC and it provides a gui adb access but you have to have sdk and adb installed on your pc, but if you look around there is info about it available. hope this helps, wish i had more time but i was just home on my lunchbreak, good luck

[Captivate] I need massive amounts of help.

Ok so I am a complete noob when it comes to this stuff I am very sorry but I will need a big walkthrough on this. OK I'll tell you where I'm at. I have a Captivate (ver. 2.1 Eclair) and I want to update to the latest version. I tried getting Keis and Keis Mini but neither of them recognize my device. I have a Mac computer and I installed the drivers for the phone but that did no good Also, I would like to root my phone to get non-market apps you know, but all the flashing and which program to use is very confusing to me. Just reading the forums trying to help myself just makes my head spin. Which do I use? Heimdall or Odin? What is the safest way to backup my phone incase anything goes wrong? I've been trying so hard for months now but I still can't get anything accomplished. I just need someone very experienced to teach me, a person who is almost completely new to all this tinkering and etc. Thank you guys so much!

No need to root to get non-market apps. Go to: Settings > Security > Unknown sources and check 'Allow installation of non-market apps'. However, installing non-market apps can be risky and is NOT recommended.

Ok so I just rooted my phone. Not sure how I can tell I did, but I did. Since I have a Mac, many forums are no use to me. Especially when flashing (p.s. I don't even know what that means) I downloaded the latest Heimdall on my Mac, but I have no idea how it works, or how to get ROMS. What do kernals do because I see those are needed? Also, when I rooted my phone, aren't I able to install non-market apps onto my phone? Because I have a .apk file for the Amazon Market app on my internal SD card but it still doesn't allow me to install it.

Purchase these 2 app's from the market. You will first need to set up a Google account and a Google Pay account.
Mobile Odin
and
SuperUser
You need to root the system before installing SU
My only concern is being able to instal non-market apps. How will I complete this using these two apps? Is there a specific ROM I need to download?

No, installing these 2 items will unlock the phone. It will also make it possible to install a rom whenever you want. Superuser access is what allows you to use the app's you are looking for. You need Odin installed to install superuser.
Also, I bought both of the apps. I couldn't get the update for Superuser Elite, and Mobile ODIN doesn't work because it says it can not find the Mobile ODIN package...

Ok so, I know the best way to be able to install non-market apps is by flashing the rom Cognition, but the download is no where to be found. but before I get the ROM I need Rom Manager right? I got it, but can't use it because I bought it without getting the free version first to get the actual files. Why? because I figured my device isn't rooted. If I were to root the Captivate, I would be able to download the free version. I tried rooting with the One-Click root that I downloaded, which is the only one that I saw on the wiki that actually seemed plausible. It doesn't work. It is supposed to push an update.zip to my SD card and it is there. but when I go into Recovery Mode, the option to choose the Update.zip isn't there. So know I know what I need to do.
1. Find a working rooting program for my mac
2. Get the free version for Rom Manager
3. Find a link and download the Cognition ROM
4. Flash the ROM onto my phone and then I should be able to install APK files from my SD card right?
ugh....

Lets do 1 thing at a time.
uninstall the apps How to Once un-installed. reboot the phone.
Start again but install the free version first
What you need to do is go to the Captivate section of this forum and install Apex 12.5. It has a one click Heimdall package. Put your phone into download mode by holding down both volume buttons and plugging it into the computer. Follow the instructions and you are now running a custom ROM.

You're having him try something he is not looking for. He is simply trying to root the phone. The package from watsa/psych0phobia is #1- not I897 based and 2- a full rom. He does not want this
Please be careful in your recombination. Also once he has 10 posts he can ask further questions within that section.
@ the OP:
1st of all, why is it SO important to be able to install non-market apps?
2nd, no offense but you don't seem to have the knowledge or skill level you should really have before attempting to root your phone. So...
3rd, do some research & reading. Make sure you fully understand the terminology and procedure for rooting your specifc phone.
4th, have a recovery & rescue plan ready in.case things go wrong. And be willing to accept the consequences.

I uninstalled everything I had related from trying to root. I couldn't get the free version. All I really need is something to root my phone via Mac.

Why do you need to root via mac, when it can be done directly from the phone?
Just say anything here now, and you will have 10 posts. You will then be able to post in the Development section of the I897

Can't root GT-S5570

I'm a newb, so don't jump at me if the solution is simple.
I tried rooting my Mini(GT-S5570)using different threads around here, and none worked. I have tried booting into recovery mode and installed 5 different root packages, none worked. Superoneclick is unavailable(none of the download links worked, also tried googling for it, nothing). I'd like a tutorial that can work, since i'll add some infos below why it might not work.
I am running an android version made for vodafone germany, with 4 system apps that are vodafone only and can't be deleted
maybe the version number can help :
PDA: S5570BUKT2
Phone: S5570XWKT8
CSC: S5570VCRKT2
Edit: I want to go with the "flash cwm with odin" then flash rom, but Odin doesn't pick up the phone in download mode, only in upload mode(when I boot with volume up+home+power button). I installed Kies for drivers, so I don't see how I could've gone wrong
Same issue with my friend anyone can resolved this kind of problem?
What recovery do you have? What error you get when you're trying to install the packages?

I can't use any custom recovery since I don't have it rooted(it's the default one I think), and I am not getting any error whilist installing packages, the superuser icon is there, just it still says my phone doesn't have root permissions
If you have a 2.3.6 Android, then the attached files will root (pop) and unroot your phone to your will.
"Copy the pop_2.3.6.zip file to the root of your SD Card. Make sure you do not extract the contents of the zip file. Just copy the zip file to your SD Card.
Boot your phone into recovery. To do this, turn off your phone and press the OK button and Power button. You can release the buttons when you see the Samsung Logo to enter the recovery mode.
From the recovery menu, select “Apply update from SD Card” and choose the zip file you downloaded in step 1.
Flash the zip and then choose “Reboot system now” option.
After your phone reboots, check if you have the superuser Application installed"

I updated it from market, it still doesn't work... But you said to update binaries, is there anything different than what I did?
Oh btw when I enter the superuser app it says below the "elite not installed-get elite" Su binary not found" I think that could be one of the reasons :s

"After flashing the zip, make sure you connect to internet and then it'll ask you to update superuser app. Do so and then from within superuser app, update su binaries. Then, it should work without any issues"
Some more info:
http://androidsu.com/superuser/
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noshufou.android.su
I remember it was a bit tricky, still it seems your phone IS rooted (if you installed pop_2.3.6.zip from recovery). Updating supersu from market means the binary portion is not up-to-date, that's why IMO you have to update binaries. So click on the supersu icon, and find the "update binaries" option (needs internet connection).
If it fails, have a look at
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noshufou.android.su.fixer
Don't remember if I needed it or not with the pop_2.3.6.zip.
BTW, if your Mini is out of warranty period, why don't you put something bloatware-free on it? (with Odin)
I can highly recommend TassNewExperience v.10.1 final2,
or newer CM 7.2 clean of 18.05.2014.
Both shall (most probably) fix your problem with rooting, both are fast, stable, battery-friendly.

Is your phone sim-locked for Vodafone network? If yes, go to Vodafone to remove sim-lock prior to anything.
Here is a decent ROM to start with (I've been using it for half a year):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648213
and there are working links in the second post, that I followed myself, explaining howto.
Here is a more detailed guide for flashing CWM recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342190
IMHO you should put unbranded, stock Gingerbread ROM in your Mini before trying to flash CWM recovery.
Remember to make a backup of your data, my recommendation:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts
and perhaps a "dump" backup of the partition holding IMEI of your MIni (you have to look for details - keywords efs and/or stl5).

I don't think it's simlocked, since I don't have a vodafone sim and it's working perfectly, and I'll try using your stuff
Edit: i've installed kies, and when I follow the guide, it doesn't get picked up by ODIN, and the pc says it malfunctioned(the usb device) Is this related to me having windows 8?
Edit 2: I would really like some real-time assistance through skype or whatnot, since i feel like i'm always doing something wrong...and when i'm following a guide, there's always a link that's broken, or a file that's outdated, not working etc

I used Odin in WinXP, have no experience with Win8 - only heard most of the older stuff didn't work in Win8. So you might be pioneering Odin in Win8
But there is another way of rooting Android devices, introduced last year, with a universal chinese soft. As the soft is new, could work in Win8 (it only roots the devices). Don't remember the name of it, there was a lot of info on the Net in the second half of last year. It worked for some no-name tablets of my friends.

Well, I'm not a pro in mobiles software - but having the info given in my last post, it's just a minute googling to find:

The orig. soft is in chinese, but used it without problems "the monkey way".
That gives you root - and nothing more (but should be enough to play with Android till the end of school
No help with Odin in Win8, sorry.

Weird. Perhaps (as above) it is in fact rooted. Try to unroot with unroot zip, and give a chance vroot again?
Unless there are some more residuals of previous attempts of rooting, and they interfere? Back to factory settings after unroot.
Or check which superuser u have on your Mini, and put binaries as zip from recovery? as in the first comment here:
http://androidsu.com/superuser/
And last but not least, it shouldn't be too difficult to put some old WinXP on an old disk/partition just to use Odin. And taking into account your first post "I tried rooting my Mini(GT-S5570)using different threads around here, and none worked", perhaps your Mini is so messed up that Odin is your only option?
Anyway, it's a mystery, and would really appreciate if you keep us informed of the progress.

Looking for cadadian carrier ROM for 626s

I just finished unlocking and rooting my 626s via this fanstic guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-626/help/complete-detailed-step-step-root-t3217505 thanks jtrosky
Anyway I kind of messed up and removed a lot of the default aps that came with the phone, I just had to do a reset and now I dont have a home screen or keyboard. This was my first time doing someting like this so I did not even create a backup/recovery.
I know how to correct the problem I just need a default ROM/RUU from another Canadian (preferably bell) service provider so I can reflash it onto the phone. I know that HTC allows you to down load other roms but they are all for american carriers and when I try to install them I get an error stating something along the lines of "invalid service id" details of the default build are as follows : Android version 5.1 and Firmware version 1.21.666.4.
If anyone could help me out I would greatly apreachate it, otherwise I will need to get a new phone because even tho is under warranty as soon as Bell sees that its been rooted and such they wont fix it.
PS hopefully I posted this in the right place I am a new member here.
Does it at least boot?
Edit: try flashing this in recovery (I'm assuming you have a custom one, preferably TWRP). It's just a Titanium Backup update zip with the Sense Home and keyboard apps. Let me know if it helped

Try downloading and flashing the zip I posted above
Put it onto internal memory and flash in cyanogenmod recovery
If that doesn't work but you're able to boot, just sideload/install Google keyboard apk like normal. You'll have to download the apk elsewhere since you can't use the Play Store for now

ok tried what you suggested and the phone spat out a whole bunch of errors which are listed in order below they all showed up red.
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
E:footer is wrong
E:signature vitrifaction failed
Install failed
E:unknown volume for path [/cash/recovery/log]
E:cant mount cash recover log
I installed the file you provided in zip format into the main folder of the phone, unplugged from computer, restated phone, then selected the same as you would to run the root in cyanogenmod recovery.
is there something I am doing wrong or am I just plain screwed?
No you're not screwed.
I'm not familiar with CM recovery.. Can you disable those verification checks?
If not then try putting Google keyboard apk on your phone memory and installing it while booted. Use the file explorer, if you didn't delete that as well

ok will have to put default recovery on it first...with CM recovery installed the phone gets stuck at the part "verifying installed aps" but it boots normally if I reflash the default recovery. I dont know if that means anything to you or not.

Hi,
I am having the same issue here.
I am missing the Setup Wizard so I can't get passed the connect to a wifi prompt.
Tried looking for a Canadian flashable zip..no luck. Tried flash your privous ZIP but I guess I am missing more that the launcher and keyboard to move on :/
I have a Titanium backup on my SD card but not as a ZIP and can launch into the OS without going through the Wizard.
Cheers

Has anybody had any luck flashing this variant of the HTC DEsire 626s with marshmallow... (Bell/ PC Mobile) Variant?
sorry to post this here but I have been looking for help on my mothers Desire 626s from eastlink. I really don't care what provider its on I just want to put a Stock Rom on it. it is currently on 1.24.428.4 firemware and the phone keeps asking to update to 1.30.428.3 and it cant. I put a stock Recovery back on the device and it will start the install then it will fail and give me a triangle with a exclamation mark. I have tried 5 or 6 different recoverys and the same thing over and over. I even went as far as contacted HTC and they told me since they DONT and I QUOTE DONT have a copy of the RUU for my phone they cant help me. so I turn to the internet and have been searching for weeks and I cant seem to find anyone who can help me out. so I hope some one here can. thanks

Hi and thanks for the zip.
I'm sure it would help alot. Problem is, I don't have a recovery and can't flash through fastboot because my Bootloader is relocked...
If you tell me where to unzip them, maybe I can extract them to the proper location on the phone?
I know a few months passed since your post but my xda account was linked to an email I no longer use...

I'm stuck.
My phone boots to the welcome screen all the way to the wifi selection but stops after that saying the setup wizard cannot launch. So I cannot go into phone settings to "enable OEM unlocking" to follow the official HTC procedure for the bootloader unlock (which was once unlocked but is now relocked).
I looks like I have no recovery, because I cannot boot into recovery, it just fails.
If I go to (what I thought was) Download/Fastboot mode and try to Fastboot flash twrp for example, it says: FAILED (remote: cannot flash this partition in s-on state) ----> but I then read that this was because I was NOT actually in Download Mode.
So I think I managed to get to Download mode and tried the Fastboot command to flash TWRP again and now it says: FAILED (remote: 9: SD_SECURITY_FAIL recovery and bootloader isn't BL_UNLOCK).
I suppose it means that my Bootloader isnt unlocked...but as mention initially, I cannot access the OS and enable the OEM unlocking toggle.
Since Fastboot isnt working, I dont know if an RUU would work.... And look like I will never know because everytime I launche the EXE file, it extracts, asks me to to accept the conditions, then nothing happens...
Please help!!

I am replying to myself. After trying several things on the phone, I went back to the OS's setup wizard. The second step (2 steps before the crash), has some text and one has a clickable link saying "learn more". It actually opens some phone settings, and from there, you can access all of the phone settings. So I was able to activate Dev mode, OEM unlock and debugging without going through the Wizard!!
Followed the BL unlock procedures on HTC website and as soon as it was unlocked, phone rebooted and TWRP reappeared! I'm saved!!
Thought I would share my discovery in case this ever happens to you too.
I also discovered another possible course of action. When accessing the same "link" to get to settings, go to the network settings and put the phone on Airplane mode. Go back to the setup wizard and skip the connection to wifi. I think it will skip the part of the Setup that made the OS crash.
