I tested this, and it worked for flashing a modem.

Guys, this is the bootloader from KB1 that Chainfire removed from the package to ensure that no bad things (signed bootloader) happened. I requested him to send it to me last night to test, and sure enough, this FIXES Heimdall compatibility with the Mac. It also is NOT a signed bootloader, so no worries about that breaking. Flash with ODIN.

OP, update your Title that this is only for fixing Heimdall compatibility issues only. So that we don't have end users trying to flash this without considering anything.
Sometimes, I've noticed that end users just flash away thinking they're already in the know. And that's when we get lots... and i mean LOTS of complaints and whines.
Also put a bold statement on "FIXES Heimdall compatibility FOR MAC USERS"
THanK$!

You're right. I just changed the whole first post and just made it more to the point.

Can someone make a CWM zip of this please? Thanks.

If you have a Windows machine (which I know, may not be the case), you can use Heimdall to flash this. You *may* have to do it twice (for some reason, Heimdall seems to fail the immediate first time you use it. Or at least it did for me.) to get it to take.

Questions...
1. Flashing this with Odin (so I can later use Heimdall) I check the Phone Bootloader Update... but do I need to check anything else?
2. I load the file in the "Phone" section, correct?
3. Will this run with non KB1 based ROM's (i.e. Bionix-V 1.2)?
Thank you

1. This is all.
2. As is you cannot flash this with coding. It needs to be in a tar from what I know of. I flashed it using heimdall on windows.
3. Yes. This is in fact from kb1.

So did you flash this in the second bootloader spot in heimdall with no other files? no need for a tar or a pit?

What one click are you referring to? If you are talking about odin one click, the only thing you should be using that for is going back to stock before flashing a rom. If a rom is flashable through clockwork than you would just put it on your internal sd card and follow the instructions for flashing through Rom Manager. If it is a rom that is supposed to be flashed with odin you would have to open up the zip file you downloaded and enter the appropriate files into odin.

WELL **** I flashed a rom now im stuck on congnition rom and i cant flash another one can u help
You need to be more descriptive if you want people to figure out a solution to your specific problem. Your post amounts to "I flashed a rom, I'm having problems, vague reference to rom manager, help guys".
Here's what we need:
1. What version of Android are you trying to flash?
2. What version are you currently running?
3. What modifications have you done?
4. What is the specific error you are getting?
5. What is the EXACT process you are using to try to flash the new rom?
READ READ READ READ READ, THEN READ SOME MORE!
you obviously have not read enough. there are 2 versions of ODIN we use for our phones:
One click ODIN which is simply a prepackaged version of the regular ODIN configured with the appropriate files that ODIN needs to flash our phones with it....they are packaged up by a developer named DesignGears. not every rom is going to have a one click odin....
there is also regular ODIN which requires you to have the appropriate files associated with your rom (kernel, pit file, modem, csc file, and rom), sometimes devs will package as much of that as possible into one or 2 files to flash in ODIN
you need to spend some time learning how to use these or just use the one click and go back to stock, then leave your phone alone. seriously, freaking out on a forum is not the right way to go about getting help for your phone.
calm down and give up the info that modest_mandroid has requested. none of us magically know what the heck you are talking about when you spout out random things like help, i flashed something and now i cant do anything else

I ACTUALLY need the original bootloaders!

2.1 / 2.2 / old bootloaders.
I need them AND in an odin flashable tar.
not because i screwed my phone!
I need them for my Rogers stock rom thread!
now with odin 1.82 we can flash the boot loaders seprately (link in thread if needed)
so if i had them, i could ADD them to my stock rom thread . I would be able to have them flash the bootloaders then the rom.
as far as i can tell they are not in my stock roms already
thank you guys!
Check the thread for odin with the three button fix I'm pretty sure everything is broken up into individual pieces for flashing with odin and maybe what you want is in there.

Don't think the 3 button odin had all the bootloaders.
Let me look around,i may be able to find s link. But it may take swhile, busy most of the day.

they have all the odin files
@ mr - 3 button doesnt, thats why ginger people must flash ODIN one click FIRST, then see if 3 button works, THEN flash 3button fix if needed. Only odin one click has bootloaders.... At the moment....
@ pirate - thank you for that but i wouldnt know what to look for inside the firmware. Im still learning, if i knew what i was looking for exactly, i would have it already.... LOL.
kinda why i was asking for help....

just redownloaded jh2, jh3, jh7 tar files. no boot loaders, but seems like every froyo i9000 rom has bootloaders in the tar files.
the files you are looking for are:
boot.bin
sbl.bin
nearly every one of designgears' roms has sbl.bin so you can pull that from the 3button fix or one of his roms.
according to another post by mccord, reposted from the i9000 forums, it looks like you need to flash a 2.2 froyo rom with bootloaders in order to recovery.
odin one click worked for mine, i just tested, but its also a model 1007, its never failed me
according to the continuum how-to (for one reference)
the 3button fix doenst have boot loaders and must flash one-click to snag it's bootloaders first.
and we all know we cant get them from one click
Ill keep looking myself but i would appreciate help as well
either way, once i have those 2 files, do i just tar them? or is there a proper way to package them to flash in odin "bootloader" box? (new feature in 1.81 and up). just like cwm zips need instruction meta data? or no? ive never done odin files.... or just tar them up and flash with pda box? or?
screw it lets find them first.....

this is false. it contains the SECONDARY bootloader, but not the primary
you can also get the sbl.bin (the secondary bootloader) from AIO captivate toolbox
i am hunting down the boot.bin (primary) right now.
ahh... right... i was half wrong... i was tired last night.
but thanks man!

Brick or not

Ok guys this is what i did...my friend said his phone was a samsung infuse 4g so i use the guide to root his phone..when i flash a rom on the phone come to find out it was a damn samsung captivate now it want do anything..but i can still get into the download mode..can someone guide me to the right thread
Maybe you should try with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153310. If u can get into download mode should be easy to fix. What it's does when u turn it on?

If you can get to download mode just try flashing any of Captivate ROM's (preferably stock).

As gogoad says, u can try with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989 that will leave the phone like new. But careful, dont unplug the phone in the process. There is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995143 too and it is safer but dosent contain bootloaders.

I see that the issue was corrected.
For anyone else who has this issue: You will want to use a 301kohm factory mode download jig on resistor between usb pins 4 and 5. If you don't have a dongle, then just stick the leads into the usb port and fish around. This will put the device into download mode. It will work because I see that your phone is actually booting up.
Someone showed me this video last night in the Infuse4G chat room. I would have responded then, but I did not know that there was a thread. I saw that you were flashing using Infuse4G One-Click Back-To-Stock UnBrick. I took that download down because of the confusing name. I also made some changes to the wording.. Device ID is now "This package is intended for:". Infuse4G One-Click Back-To-Stock will be down until I can figure out some way of distinguishing it from One-Click UnBrick.
In the Infuse4G forums they don't have a problem with bricking, so they call flashing back to stock "unbricking"... lol.. Anyways, I figured "when in rome, do as the romans do" so I put the word UnBrick at the end. Sorry if the naming convention confused you and I am working to correct that.
Does that include bootloaders adam? Im guessing no thinking infuse bls would kill a cappy.

The infuse has locked bootloaders. This is the way it should be. We don't need to flash the bootloaders, so they are not included.
Think of the bootloaders as that which initializes the hardware and provides download mode. The kernel is what adds additional features. There is no reason to modify the bootloaders when the kernel can be changed.
The Captivate 2.3 upgrade was done improperly. Instead of changing the kernel, they went the lazy way and modified the bootloaders to use an existing kernel to save time. On HTC phones I guess the bootloader and the kernel are joined somehow so bootloader unlock is important. We don't have that problem. We have 4 stages of booting.
With this information, you should be able to see why ilI think the bootloaders should be locked on the captivate.
they should, less bricks.

[Q] Heimdall Question

Hey,
I used Heimdall to flash KH3 as per the thread, including these steps:
" I'm on stock froyo, kb1, flashed to it using this: heimdall at&t stock firmware package. Can i flash UCKH3 that Adam linked in the OP over this? Is it enough to click on bottom left button (details), then write true in the Flash column to the IBL+PBL, SBL, PARAM rows to flash bootloaders too? Thanks for the answers!
yes. You should not have any problems." (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238093&highlight=heimdall&page=2)
I wanted to double check that after changing those variables to 'true' and flashing I have the bootloaders already flashed. (I understand now that it lets you click 'flash bootloaders' after you flash once successfully, but I wanted to check to see if that is still necessary given the above method). No reason to risk flashing them again if I already got 'em.
Thanks for the help... would've replied directly in development forum but not enough posts
Yes you can, but I don't know if there is a way to root it with one-click yet. I need to release an early 2.3 version before they locked it down.
Btw.. I make Heimdall One-Click which is based on Heimdall by Benjamin Dobell.
It's also worth mentioning that you should flash, and only if it does not work, then flash again with bootloaders.
You really should have asked in the one-click thread.

The flash 'worked' but I'm not 100% sure whether I have the bootloaders.... all the parts seemed to flash correctly though...
The reason I asked in here is because I don't have my 10 posts yet, or else I would definitely have chosen to ask in the correct thread.
I don't really mind that it isn't rooted for now, but it doesn't seem to have an APN list at all so I've got no data. Otherwise, this is definitely the best stock I've ever used, decent battery life and relatively fast performance. Just got a replacement unit, so GPS finally worked for one day... until I flashed and had no data, lol.
Thanks for the help, btw. I probably will try to flash it again and see if that works, otherwise I will boot into windows and try Cog5 or one of the other KH3s with CWM recovery.
*EDIT* Didn't reflash (yet), but found the setting which lets you try the 'default' APN settings, so was able to get the regular cingular/att settings and connect from there. So I'm sticking with stock until a KH3 or newer kernel/rom with CWM+root that looks worthwhile comes out. **

[Q] Data and Cell Connection goes off randomly?

So my mom is using my "old" Captivate. When she was on the beta version of Android 2.2, the data and cell connection kept turning off and she would have to restart the phone in order for it to work again.
I updated the phone by flashing Android 2.3.5 (I897 UC KK1). It was working totally fine and then it started to have the same issues as before.
I was wondering if anyone could be kind and help out.
If a new modem needs to be flashed, how do I do that?
As of now, there is NO root on my mom's phone since she doesn't care about that stuff.
All help is much appreciated!
PLEASE? Someone has to know......
You can try other modems. You need CWM to do that. Flash a kernel with CWM and then flash from the huge list of modems that can be found at Oxicottin's thread
I believe you could also extract the modem.bin from those zip files. You could then place that modem.bin in the PHONE slot within ODIN and just flash the modem itself without ever changing the kernel.
Please someone correct me if I am leading him wrong. This would require him to only flash with ODIN once and still keep his stock kernel.
You are right that can be done as well.

It's been so long since I did it that way I was trying to remember if I was correct. I've been spoiled by all the DEVS making CWM packages.
