[Req] Google-d Car Dock from 2.2 - Fascinate Themes and Apps
Not sure exactly how hard what I want would be, but, I'd like to know if an app dev could repoint the Navigation and Maps buttons in the new DL30 car dock to the Google counterparts. I need the DL30 function to enable audio on my Samsung dock, but I refuse to use Bing/VZ Navigator. I imagine this would be much easier than fixing the desk dock to incorporate the audio button I need, but if someone has one or did it, I'd welcome both.

the google car dock works great. it points to the defualt apps. you need the stock music player to play music through the aux. i have the stock app for the music player and i use winamp as a widget on my home screen. the google car dock is more customizable than the stock car app.
I just tested, and indeed, this will work. However, if I ever need to navigate, I've got to open the music app, activate the dock, then go back to Maps. What would be REALLY FREAKING AWESOME is if I could swap out something on that app I'll never use, like Search, for a link to the music app. THEN it would truly be a 1 stop shop. Alas, I regret not learning a programming language in times like these. Google was supposed to release a 'build-it-yourself' software, but haven't heard anything on it since it's conception

you must still be using the stock car app. find a gapps, jt has one in his van froyo thread. install the card doc and cardock launcher. you have to delete the stock car dock before you install the google.
I tried the google car dock, but it doesn't have the audio switching link. My point is, I want a Google Car Dock that has that option. Or, if possible, a Google Car Dock that has the audio out button AND replaces Search with Music. Know of a way I can crash-learn to edit apk's?

you have to have the tw music player installed as well. you cant use the aosp music player.

I think you're missing my point....I know it will work if I keep either the TW music -or- the TW car dock. But that requires additional app switching. I'm looking for a one stop shop. Car dock, points to Google apps, has the audio icon, bonus if it replaces search button with Music link.

i got ya. maybe some one could make just that short cut so you dont have to open the music app at all. you just press that button and use what ever music app you want. i like the honeycomb music app but am stuck with the tw. hey great idea dude.

Yes an editable car cradle app that has the audio switch button. (and one does does not redirect output to the phone speaker if you exit the app)
Heck I wouldn't mind just having a widget that could turn on and off the audio to usb and not use the car app. I have a folder that has everything in that apps screen and more. If I could just turn on audio Id use that as my Car Home app. Someone give me a widget to switch audio to the USB and nothing more..Pleeassse

If you can get that to work, I will tip my hat to you x100. I first tried APK Manager, found in another xda forum. Opened both the stock and the google car docks, and tried copying the differing items in the main layout and the app calls, as best I could figure being a non-programmer. Of course, it was a flop. So, I extracted the icon images from the zipped apk, and tried App Inventor. I got the background loaded, the icons all appeared in a line down the left hand side, and I could only find functions to open the music player and contacts (I think). I can't help but think, the job would be a snap for someone out there with proper skills to replace Bing Maps with Google Maps, VZ Navigator with Google Navigation, and Search with Music Player. Til that day comes, I'll work with what we've got, then buy a Thunderbolt in a couple of weeks and give ole Sammy the bird, permanently
You could try this.
Rename your existing carcradle apk to carcradle.apk.old and drop this one in the system/app folder. It will point to google maps and nav ( first click you must select google nav but after it works every time.) cant help on audio as i dont use a car cradle.

Perfect... Thanks dude. I was also curious to see if this could be done. Does this support audo out via USB when docked? If not, no worries. Thanks again.
How do you get audio out with the usb? I thought the usb connection on the dock was just for charging and that the 3.5mm jack was for audio out...

its not the car dock app thats the problem. you have to use the stock music app. play a song there, press the little phone icon to make the audio come out the 3.5 then pause the music and then go play pandora or whatever.

[REQ] That Stupid Phone Button!!!!
Is there any way to get that stupid phone button to route the music from the 3.5 to the usb port so we can use the car dock without the sammy music app? in order to listen to anything with the car dock other than the sammy music app you have to open sammy music play something go to the now playing list and press the button, then pause sammy music bac button till you get back to car home. NOW you can play pandora or audible or win amp. its nice that it works, but its still broken. it should be a setting or an app, not a feature available from only one app.

Watch and bluetooh mono app
So if u go to Google store and download one of many Bluetooth mono apps I'm using an app called Bluetooth mono. I had to use it with one of my old Bluetooth tooth ear piece. had to make music pass through Bluetooth channel. If u install this app then turn it on, it open full audio channel to watch. Mic and speaker. So music plays and even voices command with Google now and text works. U can open voice text then dictate to watch and watch voice turn to text. Issues U have to turn mono app off to get give functionality back to watch and ok Google from anywhere doesn't work I thought this was cool. So I decided to spread the findings sense I did see it posted any where Ps I'm not a app developer
Ace tip. I was wondering if there was a way to use google now instead of s voice, sounds like this might be a way to do it. [Q] Google Search over bluetooth
I recently purchased a Kinivo BTC450 for my car which acts as a bluetooth adapter and has an audio out 3.5mm for my car. It has a multifunction button that you can use to launch Siri on iPhones and almost anything on Android. At first I assumed it would open google search but it opened some weird google app that would only allow me to make calls and send texts but then I realized I didn't have the google search app installed. After I installed it, an intent window came up and asked me if I wanted to use the Google Search App. It works fine, the multifunction button launches the Google Search App as it's supposed to and picks up on my voice perfectly through the bluetooth adapter but when it plays back the audio, it's super quiet compared to the music and everything else. I have looked through all the settings in the Google Search App but can't find anything to make it louder. All the volume sliders in the Volume Settings panel are set to max. I've searched google and seen that a lot of people have had this issue but no one has any solution. Help me XDA, you're my only hope!
nexus 7 (2013) installed in car with new interface.
HELLO GUYS, i installed the nexus 7 2013 in my Mercedes E-class. i wanted a good looking interface. searched a lot but didnt find something cool so started to work on it. combination of some apps and widgets came up with this interface.please share any ideas to make it better.

Nice work, do the tire pressures actually show on the screen like that? I noticed they are all currently zero? However, for me personally I would try to go with a less is more approach to make it easier to use while driving. I attached a copy of the launcher that I use in my car, hopefully you can see what I mean by looking at them. One is a slightly older version before I changed the labels to be more generic, but shows the music player, temperature etc. These were made using an image I found via Google of the Audi MMI screen, I cleared off the icons and then re-created labels of my own using Photoshop. Each of these then has a hotspot widget using UCCW to open the app.

I suspected it might be just an image, would be nice to have the pressure monitored there. It's a shame that the tire pressure is not monitored via OBD otherwise I am sure Torque could pick it up and you could then set it as a widget.

Bluetooth autoplays sound files in car when trying to use google navigation.
Until about a week or so ago when I connected N6 to car system via bluetooth and used google maps, I got just the google nav voice. Now I start hearing media files, even ringtones and movie sound tracks. I have turned off settings for autoplay in Bluetooth settings, and try to turn off in PowerAmp. Problem is if I stop or pause the playing of the sound track in Poweramp then I lose the Nav voice as well. If I pause or stop the track playing in the car system I also lose the nav voice sound. I have flashed nothing at all between the acceptable nav-voice-only behavior and the onset of the automatic media file playing. Only thing that has happened was playstore updates including PowerAmp, and Google Maps. I did a search in this forum but found nothing about this. Driving me more nuts than usual. Any help would be appreciated . Seriously? Only 2 of us have this problem? Really need solution as Google navigation is basically useless until this is solved.
I've had the same problem. I haven't found a solution. I think using voice control has something to do with it.

Do you ever use Google Music in your car? I don't know if this will be the answer or not, but if you do have it, it's possible some of these files ended up in the queue. Open up Google Music and click the three dots in the upper right. There should be an option in there to 'Clear Queue' or something like that. Since this seems to be more or less random media files and not actually songs, I don't know if this is the fix or not, but worth giving a shot.

But whenever the voice says something, the audio file it randomly selected advances that amount of time as though it's playing too

Click to collapse Thanks for your response. No, don't even have Google music. I use poweramp but will see if I can clear queue or something. I haven't used it in the car but that's what is playing the sound files. I went into Poweramp while the sounds were playing and paused it and the sounds stopped. But Nav voice never came back.

Click to expand... Click to collapse So strange. Have you tried using nav (walking maybe?) while not in the car? I'm wondering if you could point it to an app problem or possibly bluetooth problem. What about if you use the nav in the car without going through bluetooth? I'd also try freezing PowerAmp while using Nav and seeing if that works. Try to eliminate as many variables as possible and see if you can pinpoint exactly what's causing the issue, then maybe we can find out why. Other ideas would be clearing data from PowerAmp, test, Maps, test, then Google's voice-to-text or whatever the 'voice' app is that produces the turn-by-turn, test and see if you can nail down exactly what app it is.

It plays songs as well as ring tones - - - any sound files it can find apparently. If I pause the player, nav voice stops too. Don't know why it suddenly started doing this. I have not had this happen before in my 11 1/2 months of Nexus 6. Same rom /kernel everything since mid August with no problems until last week. May have to go into Titanium and freeze Poweramp. What idiot dreamed up forcing bluetooth autoplay on us? At least Google maps has an option to play voice over bluetooth or not. Oh, well - - the joys of Nexus.

Gonna play around with some of the Google apps and see if maybe one of them (or an update) is causing this. Will let you know UPDATE: OK for me the issue comes up if I use OK GOOGLE to start things off. The audio time counter advances whenever Candace (name given by my wife to the Navigation voice) speaks. Counter then pauses until she speaks again, then pauses, etc. If I start Navigation without using OK Google commands, audio time counter does nothing when Candace speaks. So I think it's one of the google apps. I rolled back a number of them to their default version, but that didn't matter. Could be one I didn't try or even another app. Again I have no music players installed. I use the audio player of ES File Explorer as needed.
