You get a B&N Gift Card number. I would assume you can use the gift card for anything. However, if you apply it to your account for ebooks it'll be for ebooks online. I learned that the hard way but you should be able to use the code at checkout on anything.

I actually did this earlier, they send a B&N Gift Card code. It works great.
Does this work for coffee shop purchases as well? hmmmmmm..
I wasn't able to log in to my account "Due to extremely high volume" but I was still able to buy one. Thanks!
I took full advantage of this and used it to score me a cheaper nc and a case to go with it.

Does anyone know if you can use it to buy Nook books?

I am pretty sure it does not work on digital content. Too bad.
Does anyone know if you can stack these? I know it says you can only buy one per person, but if I buy one and my wife buys one, can we use them at the same time for the same purchase? I read through the terms but I couldn't find anything about it.
According to the groupon fine print it does work for ebooks...which is exactly why I purchased it.

Here is a list of the terms:
http://www.groupon.com/pages/barnes-and-noble-terms
The only thing I see prohibited on digital purchases:
BN Groupons may be used to purchase single issues of eNewspapers and eMagazines; however, they cannot be used for subscriptions to eNewspapers or eMagazines.
I can vouch for it. The link listed on the Groupon takes you to login to your B&N account. Under nook books is a link to manage gift cards. You add the gift card code to your eBook account and it gets charged before your credit card. Just no subscriptions as noted.
Thanks and Enjoy!

About this. I got it to stack by ordering online and picked the option to pay by phone. Then waited for second confirm email, called it in from there and added all "gift card" numbers by hand. Nook color plus case for half off

How did you buy more than one coupon?
Same here. Got the nook color for $125. They also had a $30 case that was 30% off with nook color purchase so the case was $11 after groupon. $136 + tax for both. I love the internet.

Pardon my ignorance, I've never used groupon before, but how do I select it for another region? Whenever I choose another region/city it changes the deal.

Groupon does different deals for different areas. Some are like this one, although its advertised in a specific city, are ok to use any where, since they work on line (BN.com) or in any b&n store. so just buy it from that link. below im posting a referral link, ill get a few bucks if you click it and buy it through there. happy purchasing. i got mine the other day, i think ill be buying a case, or a screen protector, or both if i can convince my girlfriend to order one.

Hmm In testing that link, it might not bring you right to the groupon. so heres the manual steps. select the region, then look at the right hand column. at the bottom you should see "Multiple Locations: $10 for $20 Worth of Toys and Games, Books and More at Barnes & Noble"
thats what your looking for.

Nook Color: Back in stock @ Best Buy

I just received an email from Best Buy that the Nook Color I ordered is now available for pickup. I had ordered it last week when they were offering a free case with the purchase of the device. I believe the deal is still valid for this week (2/6-2/12), so I'd suggest taking advantage. I picked the easel-style one that is B&N branded. Really nice, considering it retails for $49.99.
Not sure why so many people have trouble locating these. They are available at my local best buys and well... if you walk into Barnes and Nobles... they have plenty. Is there a reason people aren't going to Barnes and Nobles brick and mortar?
You must have missed the article going around reporting that Nook Color's were being pulled off the shelves for 2 weeks...
I heard they are doing it just for inventory. Best buy close to my house also pulled the inventory but I went to Barnes & Noble and they had plenty.
$25 Gift Card with $250 Purchase
They also have a coupon to get a $25 gift card with purchase of $250 good until the 12th. Coupon is attached and links below. I just used it tonight. You have to choose between the $25 gift card or the free case you can't get both.
Here's the link to the coupon dealspl.us/bestbuy-coupons/208649p

Hhmmm, online it's listed as backordered... Any news about that???

Issue with B&N "app store"

So I'm trying the 1.2 update to give it a fair shake, and I have one big complaint about the way B&N chooses to do apps. To get any app, even free ones, it appears you need to have payment info in your account. For paid apps, that makes sense, but for free apps? No other major app store does this. I just don't like giving CC info out if I don't have to (especially after the recent PSN debacle). Just wanted to share my experience.
Not only that, but why aren't any games free?

Amazon app store works the same way
Sent from my SPH-D700
It is same way for Amazon (need to have 1 click enabled - It is annoying that I get invoices e-mailed to me the minute I buy that $0 app of the day).
I believe it works the same way for B&N Book purchases, even for free books, you need to have valid CC account with them.
I guess I never thought aboutthe Amazon app store. They had my info long before they had an app store. I am surprised that iTunes lets me go CC-less.
B&N requires a credit card for all Nook transactions. Including book and app purchases. Even if you have valid gift cards on your account they still need the credit card. Ghetto, but its life.
If you don't want to give your real credit card, I'd just buy a gift CC and add gift cards as your real payment. that way It'll use up the gift, and then the cc. Not the cheapest and fastest route, but its a secure option.
Apparently B&N does not allow app developers to subsidize the cost of their apps through advertising. That's why very little is free.
I don't see it as a huge deal, honestly. While i have yet to update to 1.2, it doesn't sound like apps are outrageously expensive. $2.99 for Angry Birds? I probably paid $29.99 for Lemmings, which was the 1990's version of Angry Birds, when that came out.
Yeah, I had to supply a credit card for the B&N store when configuring the stock Nook Color (before the new upgrade with apps); I didn't think we had a choice.
I used a "disposable" credit card number with a low dollar limit (via the "ShopSafe" credit card generator).
I was very pleasantly surprised that the Google Apps store on Android has no such requirement. I wonder how much success the B&N app store will ever have.

B&N to offer discounts to card members

I received an email from Barnes & Noble today saying that effective with renewal of my card they will offer $25 discounts on both the Nook Color and Nook Tablet and $10 on other Nook models. I was disappointed when I bought my NC and had to pay full price (they typically give discounts of at least 10% with the cards).
Nook books don't get any discount and I probably won't renew the card. I haven't bought any paper books for over a year.
One discount per year

Note: one discount per year.
Seems kind of useless after you've already purchased the Nook! You pay the $25.00 for the membership then they give it back to you in a discount?
I let my membership lapse as well, no discount on E-books so there is no point in giving B&N another $25.00!
They've been doing this promo for months! Now if only their membership had benefits....
I look at continuing the card this way...
Over the course of a year, I will spend enough time in my local B&N's to read at least 7-10 books "in store". This is my way of offsetting no discount and/or coupons for my e-book purchases.
While I am there performing the above function I purchase enough frappacinos and soup at a discount over the year to offset the annual $25.00 renewal when combined with the increasingly rare actual book, magazine, or DVD purchase.
The community college where I teach online has a B&N owned/operated bookstore that used to give the faculty a free card each year but that stopped about two-three years before the Nook came into existence.

Plex and Avia free today

With Amazon offering 5 free apps = 1000 Amazon coins ($10) for purchases from the Amazon App Store currently, you can get both Plex and Avia (in app upgrade) for free and still have plenty left over to get a game or two.
- You must buy through the Amazon App Store, using your U.S. account (Canadian account won't work)
- You have to "purchase" and download the 5 listed free apps, but you don't have to install them unless you want to
- You get 200 Amazon coins for each of them, arrives in your account within a minute or so
- You can then use the 1000 coins for buying apps or making in-app purchases up to $10 worth
Definitely works for Plex and the Avia in-app upgrade. AllCast not listed unfortunately (there's an AllCast for FireTV, so Amazon may consider the Chromecast version a competitor)
actually if you haven't already, use 700 of those coins to buy GTA and get an additional 2000 coins. this plus the info above left me with a bunch of free apps (which you don't have to install if you don't want) GTA which i believe is for Fire TV and therefore have no use for. plex, avia and $22 in coins to use for future purchases. Thanks for reminding me to try my US account and not just my canadian account. Thought I was SOL.
Amazon have lost their minds. With all the promos they're offering this weekend, I've so far downloaded 3 paid apps I wanted for free, and ended with $30 in app store credit to spend in future. Since you can start with a free download that gives you some credit, and then leverage that to give you back more credit than you spend, I bet with a little work you could end owning every app that Amazon offers and still have a $1 million credit!

Those free coins doesn't happens usually. I'm too with like 3300 coins ($33) in my account. If I'm not wrong, they expire after a year.

Yes, these deals are infrequent. You are also correct - promotional/bonus coins expire after a year, but they are used before purchased coins when redeeming, so as long as you get something with coins every now and then, you will be fine.
But for some reason Amazon is giving away more coins than advertised at the moment. For example people buying GTA San Andreas for 699 coins are getting back 2500 coins instead of the advertised 2000. I bought a 99 cent app offering 30 coins back and got 200 coins instead. Ditto for other apps offering coins.
Yeah.. I saw that. Probably a bug. I evem bought one and the coins didn't change.
Nice find. Any other recommended apps? I am in Canada as well, just had to indicate a US address on account. Hope this does't spoil it. Had to purchase the San Adreas via PC but I don't have a kindal Worth for the bonus.
Looking to spend the rest of these coins too, any other apps recommended? Don't have too many via Amazon, picked up the Avia for sure or was it Plex, i dunno, i like free stuff.
Thanks OP and follows ups for the tips.
FYI i was using a VPN via phone to make purchases however, online just had to log into account.
So you just put a US address on your Canadian account and it worked?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Many of the Amazon app special offers are U.S.-only, and while Amazon coins are now supported in several countries, they aren't yet in Canada. But all you have to do to take advantage of these offers if you have an existing Canadian Amazon account is change the country in your account settings to United States, and give it any U.S. address (tip: you might want to choose a tax-free state, because taxes do apply to digital purchases). You don't have to use a VPN.
You could also create a separate U.S. Amazon account, but be aware that Amazon apps are DRM-restricted to one account. Every time an Amazon app runs on your Android device it checks the current Amazon account login on the device to make sure it matches (you will be prompted to log in if you are not currently logged in to Amazon). The app will refuse to run if the device is not logged in to the correct Amazon account. You can only be logged in to one account at a time. If you have some apps purchased through one Amazon account and some purchased another Amazon account, you will have to keep switching accounts to run them. There is no way to consolidate app purchases on different accounts. However apps purchased by one account with different countries selected at different times are fine because it's all one account. And you can use the same account and purchased apps on any number of devices.
Thanks for that breakdown. I had originally used my separate account for the US stuff and put that on my tablet. but getting my canadian account recognized was the better move. wish I had learned of this sooner but still took advantage of this promo.
