[Q] Video Acceleration on NC & Sleep / Wake issue w/ SetCPU

Does anyone know if CM7 or any other ROM Build other than Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 has or is coming out with Video Hardware Acceleration? I currently use Nookie Froyo on my NC and it ROCKS! I would like to upgrade but that feature is a must.
Also has anyone else had a problem with waking the NC from sleep after 30-60 mins? I believe it's from using SetCPU. I tried different profiles and it still happens. After I uninstalled SetCPU the sleep/wake up issue went away.
Thanks!

[Q] Upgrade from CM7.0.3?

I've been running CM7.0.3 for several months now. I have it installed on uSD card.
What are the top reasons to upgrade (any big new features, or any NookColor specific improvements)? Should I go with CM7.1RC or a more recent nightly, if so, which? I really don't want to go through several iterations of trying to find a reliable nightly. So if you have been stuck on one for a couple weeks, which is it?
I'd just like to update to something more recent, but still reliable. I've read about Sleep Of Death... want to avoid those kinds of hassles.
I tried searching but can't find what I am after.
Thanks!
Newer versions are more stable, seem to have most if not all features working, and has the overclock kernel built in.
I was on 7.1RC1 for a long time, and had no issues. Now I've been on Nightly 176 for a few weeks, no problems with it at all either.
You should probably upgrade your size-agnostic installer to 1.3.
I don't know if 7.0.3 had the new kernel or not, but going from 7.0.2 to latest nightly increased battery life at least 3 times. No kidding.
Recent nightly would be the way to go. Big fixes include deep sleep witch gives a major battery increase, overclock kernel included, and tons of other stuff I can't think of right now.
To prevent SoD set up two profiles in tasker one for wifi on with screen on and wifi off with screen off.

[Q] Screen Refresh Rate (Flickering) Problem [Only on HC 3.2]

I have a really odd problem. I purchased 3 EU version WiFi only Streak 7. Only one of them, when updating to HoneyStreak or the new offical 3.2 HC, one of them have visible refresh rate problem (it is like less than 50 Hz so that i can see the screen image light vibrates, it flickers).
The weird thing is all off the are OK with Android 2.2.2. But after the update, only one of them shows this strange behavior. Any idea about what the hell is going on? I can't return it since it is OK with Froyo.
The workaround is to increase the screen brightness more than %60 and it becomes OK.

It have this on 2.2.2 and honeycomb but I only see it on a white screen
well, I have same problem - did anyone find any solution already (i read that ICS have support for gpu) - did someone with EU version already do update to ICS and how is there with flickering?
Thank you.
i had the same problem with Honeystreak r8. So i reverted back to using Honeystreak r6, i found r6 to be totally stable and reliable build without any visible bugs.
Now im using the ics beta4 build, but its not stable yet and camera/radio/brightness dont work in that build. WIP for ics build.

some times the phone stops responding to the power button. just black screen. nothing helps. only to take out the battery. can it be the sdcard?
CM 7.2
Hello!
This sounds like a SOD(sleep of death).
Do you use the latest KANG?
What kernel do you use?
Standard kernel or a custom build?
It could be the battery - I had SODs after reinstalling the stock battery – switching back to my Andida battery I use since August 2011 helped.
But this was in connection with an UV-kernel - didn't have SOD with standard kernel.
Use a more stable rom. Stock based ones.
Hello!
The latest CM7-KANGs are very stable - I actually have less trouble/SODs/instabilities with them I ever had with stock based roms.
But temasek/CM7-sources had a few little hiccups in KANG building around x-mas, which are sorted out right now – so the OP should update to the very latest kang since their seem to be some KANGs in between with some issues…

This to me I'm 99% sure its a SOD. You cannot recover unless u pull your battery.
Nothing is wrong with your phone. It just happens with our phone though I've not had a sod since long long ago.
Update to latest rom and just pray it doesn't come back again.
If it happens again use power + vol up. Depending on your sd card it might require an extra shutdown because it doesn't mount properly. I just hate pulling battery with people around cause it looks stupid

try to use another rom...for example guestes rom...it´s very stable

Nook Color Randomly Shutting Off

I have a NC that has been rooted since August using CM 7.1.0 (not a nightly build). For the last 2 weeks or so it has shut off randomly, usually when it sits for longer than and hour unplugged (but even sometimes when it's plugged in, too). It's not dead because I can turn it back on and still have over 50% battery left. I've edited the file I needed to in order to prevent OTA updates since B&N released the 1.4 firmware. But could that OTA be the cause of my issues?
If you have CM7 on it there are no OTA updates even seeing you. Sounds like the sleep of death. Try turning off wifi when you leave it unattended.
I've actually noticed the same thing too. I'm running CM7.1 and noticed my NC would not wake up sometimes. It could be a few hours or a whole day, but I think it has not gone more than a few days without locking up. I figured it may be related to something I installed recently, but considering the number of things that have been installed and removed over the last few weeks, it's hard to pinpoint...
I have been running nightly encore 177 since September 1st without any problems until yesterday when my NC started going into sleep of death. I have had to do the N-button + power button hold to get it to restart.
The only changes I made before this started happening was to place about 10 app shortcuts onto the home screen.
I am going to update to nightly encore 253 and hopefully it will stop SOD.
You might as well update to the CM7.2 RC0 Mirage build. It incorporated some fixes that came out post-n253, and it looks like that will be it for updates until either ICS hits, or CM7.2 Final comes out.
I do still get the SoD, but not frequently.
I'll have to check out that build of CM. For that very same reason I'm tempted to go back to the stock software. Not sure if it's the right move, but this constant locking up is becoming very annoying.
