The video is short, i dont have another camera but my Launcher Pro keeps restarting. Manu times I press back or home i find myself waiting for LP to restart, displaying the icons and reloding the widgets, i dont know if this has anything to do with rom/kernel im using (Phoenix 4.5, GB kernel) but i dont know what to do.
try this first:
go to setting->applications->manage applications->all
find LP application, then click "clear data".
but if i delete the data will i lose the configurations i have and the Plus.provilegies? I dont know my unlock number so im afraid i will lose that ability.

Save settings in launcher pro. If you lose your unlock code ot will ask for your email and send it to you again

i did that, i spent a lot of time restoring LP the way i had it, but it continues to restart every time i press back for example angry birds, catch notes, :S
is this issue solved?
One solution is to go into Advanced preferences in LP and change the memory settings to "High". This fixed it for me.

You know..with me being new at anything dealing with a Android phone, can sometimes be a real PITA...
I had a problem with starting Launcher Pro. I did everything I could to use it but no matter what I did I couldn't access it. I was pretty sure I had to change the defaults to do this, but everything was grayed out so I couldn't. I PM'd the Impaler747 who has helped me and others like me out several times ( Thanks Bro ) and he confirmed the defaults had to be cleared..and suggested the normal approach to doing so,which was
OK, do this. Go into settings, applications, manage applications, and then scroll down until you find launcher pro. If it's not there, then you don't actually have it installed, which would be the problem. However if launcher pro is there, then select it. Scroll close to the bottom, and select "clear defaults"
After you confirm that you'd like to clear the defaults, hit your home button. A dialogue should come up and ask which program you'd like to complete the action with. Check the "use as default" box, and then select launcher pro, not ADW.

so I knew I was on the right track..but still couldn't clear the defaults..I knew I had it loaded..hell I even downloaded it to my PC then copied it to my SD..but I just couldn't change the defaults in ADWLauncher nor could I access the LP settings..
So..I headed to the LP forum and started researching as I should have first before bugging folks with NooB questions ..and low in behold a few others had similar issues..The problem was the given answer "Use Home Switcher" which will allow you to clear the defaults and go back to being able to switch between ADWLauncher and LauncherPro doesn't work with Froyo 2.2...So..figuring I had to find something else to work with CyanogenMod-6 V6.0.0-RC1 which is 2.2, I headed to the Apps market and listed right below HomeSwitcher was the answer to my needs..ClearDefaultHome..this little free app does 1 thing and 1 thing only and that is to allow you to clear the defaults and switch..No more problem
So..I guess many of the old timers here are probably thinking.."what a dumbass" ..and that's ok..cause I'm still on the bottom of the learning curve, like a whole bunch of folks about these..but I just thought I would pass this on just in-case some other newbie like myself was having similar issues..
So..to all the Newbies like myself..when things go wrong..Don't Panic..most all of the answers are available..just think it through..and go look for folks having similar problems..and what they did to fix them..Most of the time..along with a dash of common sense will get you through..

Go back into manage applications and depending on what launchers you have you need to find the one you are currently using; sense, launcher, adw and then clear default. Or you can do a search on xda for home selector and download and install on your phone. Once done open the app and choose which launcher you want.

That's the way it is supposed to work..but it would not allow me to clear the defaults..That's why I was having a problem...and went looking for a solution to fix it...It's all fixed now as I said before..but Thanks anyway for your suggestion..

HaHa!!!
See what happens when I don't read the entire post. I was using the app you mentioned, but think I found another one that is like Home Selector which lets you choose your default launcher. Does cleardefaulthome do that or just clear the default launcher until you press the home key?

The most effective way to change your default launcher is to physically uninstall ADWLauncher and push the Launcherpro.apk into your /system/app/ directory via adb. Firerat posted a very clean and effective method of doing this on the Cyanogenmod forum boards. If someone happens to have a link please post it. Remember as always nandroid first before screwing around with your system files.

While this may truly be a effective way of doing this,it isn't for the majority of folks like myself that have never or rarely ever use any type of command line prompt in a terminal window.
While I do understand the need to learn how to do this when working with these phones, especially while changing things around on them, for some of us finding a easier solution without a steep learning curve is really the fastest way of effecting the changes we need. Hence..the reason of my post to give a easy solution to those needing one.
Here is a posted review I found today of what I used to fix my problem..

I think I see what the issue was. You were trying to use launcher pro, right? If I read that right, you were. Clearing the defaults in the app you were trying to use would do no good, even if you could. You needed to clear the defaults in ADW, not launcher pro. Then mash home to get the dialog box.

I couldn't clear the defaults from either unfortunately. In ADW the clear default button was grayed out...and even though I had LP loaded..I couldn't open the program..even when I completely un-installed it from the phone and re down loaded it and re-installed it. That what was freaking me out I pulled the battery..re-booted several times...and was just about ready to start from scratch.. Luckily it didn't get that far and found the right app to fix the problem..

Ah, I misunderstood then. Glad you got it sorted out.

Hi All, just some info sharing after I encountered TwLauncher force close loop after I installed an app. and how I resolved it. Searched for an answer for this but seems like everyone says do a hard reset which I do not want to.
Was trying out Dolphin Browser when suddenly my twlauncher force close. Think the error occurred because the browser tried to put a shortcut on the launcher but my launcher screens did not have space for it. Rebooting does not help as the twlauncher still goes into force close loop when the phone starts up. Almost wanted to do a hard reset but was thinking if I could go into Settings and remove the dolphin browser which may remove the error. After trying, I realised I could still go into the Settings by holding down Menu button to go into Search option (after dismissing the force close) and search for the Settings app. However when I went into the Settings, removed the Dolphin browser and rebooted, launcher still goes into force close loop.
Then I figured I should clear the data in twlauncher and let it launch in default. Same thing again, press and hold Menu button to go into Search. Search for app Settings and launched it. Go to Applications, Manage Applications, All and select TwLauncher. Go to Storage -> Clear data. And presto! No more force close loop!! TwLauncher now sets back to default, and the only thing you need to do is to customize/add back your launcher 'desktop' again with whatever shortcuts or widgets you want or had previously. No hard reset required which save a lot of hassle! So the error is basically data corruption which caused the TwLauncher to go into force close loop.
Hope anyone who encountered the same problem as me don't have to hard reset anymore with this solution!
Damn, you just saved me.
Thanks so much, I almost did the hard reset myself!
thanks man, i thought it's some bug from my rom, by now i see it's not. u're my hero!

in my app list is no TwLauncher?! Only TwWallpaperChooser...
But I think it is translated to "Startseite" (german) - can somebody confirm this?
I have the same problem - there is no TwLauncher in "All" list - please help
thank mate. although i find it useless but still i wanted it. thank so much
damn thus thread is a little bit too late.....I experienced it about 2 week ago...the only solution was to flash back my FW because Hard Reset didnt help...btw thanx for this coz it might be usefulll for the future....
Well, glad my old thread helped some of you guys. I'm not sure why some of you can't see the default rom twlauncher, unless you are using a custom rom with another launcher.
This sounds good and would have certainly helped me on the numerous occasions when I have experienced this, caused by an application failing to find desktop space to park an icon every time.
One small thing is nagging me though. If Search is not one of the last six apps I've used it won't show up in the Recent apps drawer that appears when I hold the menu button or have I missed something?
thanks bro this is great!!!
thank u soooo much
I was facing this problem on my new Galaxy S i9003 and had pretty much made up mind to do a factory reset when I came across a link to your post on this site - androidza.co.za forum
Thank you again - you saved me from a lot of trouble.
Thank you so much!!

Thanks a ton guys from saving me the work of hard resetting my Galaxy Ace.
Note: for the people searching for tw launcher in manage applications, on the Galaxy Ace its "Sansung Home", just clear data and your Ace is all good again
1) Genie (news/meteo) widget is broken. I remove the widget but, when I try to reinstall it, "genie" process suddenly ends.
RESOLVED: clear data from Application Settings Menu and then re-apply the widget.

Same issue with Meridian Pro player, the widget would make it crash.
Deleting the widget, clearing application data, then re-adding the widget fix it.
Note that clearing the application data makes it forget your unlock code for the pro version. Make sure you have a copy of your code before clearing the data.
I miss the Froyo keyboard, i loved to just swipe my finger up and get another pair of lines with symbols, WHY WAS THIS REMOVED!!!
Or perhaps is not removed, anyone knows?

Annoying amazon mp3 app is still there!
Can't access to Google Voice app (no more icon). The application appears as installed in the market. Can't open / uninstall from the list of applications (appears in grey in all apps list).
Anyone have the Trillian 1.0.145? (final beta before it went to market)
Seems to be the only app not working for me, never completes log in.
Not really an issue, but I.was so much hoping for copy/paste to work in gtalk but I still can't copy in gtalk.

I always chuckle when people say they avoid CM7 and other ROMs because they want to "avoid bugs".
Irony at its finest?
Don't know if anyone will care, but if you spam tap "Android version 2.3.3" you will see this image:

has any 1 tried market after updating? I got old market after updating to gingerbread.

Do you really need to keep evangelizing CM? This is XDA, we know about CM7. If we wanted to be running it we would be already.
When you go to the USB storage connection screen the button seems to say "Turn off USB storage" no matter whether it's already on or not.

Yeah, me too.
Just close the Market and then re-open and you're back at the new one. You may need to kill Market in app management, or just wait a couple of minutes to go back in.
I'm having the umts hsdpa switch issue. It switches back and forth every few seconds, and I have strong signal. Anyone seeing this?
Hey i was wondering if anyone experiences this.
Happens a lot more from dialer and sms.
When i am going through sms, typing one, dialing a phone number or going through recent calls, half if the time my phone acts like if i pressed the home button. It can get oh so frustrating! Sometimes i wanna call someone and it can take a good 40-50 seconds before i cam succesfully input the number without getting booted back to homescreen. Tested various roms and still happens so i dont think its rom specific. Runnimg jetpack and semaphore just so u know.
Thanks

Do you use touchwiz or a custom launcher?
Try an other launcher from the market and see if it's still there.
Did you do a factory reset before installing other roms? Maybe something from an old rom is interfering with the new one... or you have a hardware problem with your home button.

is that the way it should be?
when i had my xperia x10 running gb2.3 it was different
or maybe i changed something i dont know
any suggestions?
btw im running stock rom, no root, no bl unlock on HTC Raider 4G from rogers
EDIT: and im using adw launcher ex if it changes anything
does not happen to me on my Bell Raider, if i have like facebook open and the phone locks unlocking it still has facebook. It maybe a certain app you are using or you using the one of the 4 shortcuts on the lock screen?

Go back to using sense and see if it does the same. (troubleshooting step)
It's sounds like a adw setting, look in the settings of adw.
With stock phone and Sense, if an app is open and running when the phone sleeps/locks, it will still be there when I unlock the phone.
please list your apps installed in the phone, and you might have a task killer installed and did not mentioned it
ok thank you for all ur help
i found the problem it was my widgetlocker
it has option "go straight to my homescreen on unlock" and i had it checked... stupid me
once again tx for input
