can I unlock T-Mobile nexus one

Can I unlock T-Mobile nexus one to operate at any other mobile providers like vodafone.

I'm pretty sure even a subsidized Nexus is carrier unlocked, I don't know the frequency range for vodafone and 3g so I don't know.

There's absolutely no such thing as a locked Nexus One. They're all unlocked.

even if it was locked to tmo, they will give you an unlock code for any phone 90 days after purchase. just give them a call, they will ask for the imei number, then they will email you the unlock code 2 days later.

sometimes I wonder if people even know what they are buying or even bother looking up stuff them selves

Can a Dell S7 be Sim unlocked and by who? Tmo or Dell

was considering getting into the tablet mix and i like the S7 in the Tmo store and the price is ok, but i was wondering if they would unlock it off contract and who would be doing the unlocking dell or tmo

I have yet to hear anybody receive an unlock code from tmo or dell.

I unlocked my Streak 7
I went to unlockstreak (sorry, I don't post enough here to give you the URL)
Gave them the IMEI code from my Streak 7 box. Within 2 days I had a code in my e-mail. Popped in my ATT SIM. It prompted me for the code and... presto: I was on ATT's HSPA+ net.
Works great.

I can confirm that this one works!!!
Just got my unlock code, put in my Rogers USB Airstick sim card, disabled airplane mode, typed in the code and started browsing on the HSPA network.

Just a heads up, I am working with streakunlock to get a code for my warranty replacement s7. It is slow coming, like a week now but he is working it. Just don't get worked up if you have a newer s7 and request an unlock code. Btw, I fixed my original but figured I would keep the newer one.

Unlocking is a pricey convenience
When I was researching how to unlock my Streak 7, here's what I learned:
1) Dell provides the unlock code and *only* to the carrier (T-Mobile) when they request one. They will not provide codes to consumers.
2) T-Mobile will obtain an unlock code for their customers upon request. I'm told you call customer service, but I have always had excellent luck resolving other tech issues using the online chat support. That would be my first stop.
3) T-Mobile will provide you the code in about 48 hours, but I couldn't find out if there were any charges.
4) You must have an AT&T SIM to trigger the Streak 7 to prompt you for the unlock code.
I chose to pay for a service simply for the convenience, since it was guaranteed to work. But if costs are a consideration, I would definitely hit up T-Mobile's support site and request one.

No charge for equipment unlock reqs with TMobile...can do one unlock req per 12 months. You must be a customer for at least 40 days OR pay full cost for device

Tmobile would not unlock for me, paid full price, but not a tmobile customer. $40 unlock was cheaper than being a customer.

How I got my Streak 7 unlocked ...twice!

My saga starts a few weeks ago. In the end, I managed to get it unlocked two different ways.
I got a Streak 7 directly from Dell. I never had T-mobile service or planned on getting T-mobile service. My first attempt was by calling T-mobile and just asking for a code. No dice there... They said they did not have codes for that device yet and that I had to contact Dell directly. So, I found the mobility support number on Dell's website (1-800-308-3355) and called them. The lady I talked to told me that they were not providing unlock codes for the 7 yet. I raised a small stink, but decided to just try again in a few days/weeks.
Fast-forward to this week...
I had to unlock a different phone(for work) from Dell. I called the same Mobility support number above and got a very nice Indian gentleman, lets call him Bob. I told Bob I needed to get a phone unlocked, he asked me a bunch of personal questions and then only asked me for my service tag number. After giving it to him and talking for a bit more, Bob said he needed to put the request in and it would be 3-5 days. After hanging up, I realized I never gave Bob an IMEI. I got a little pissed. I figured it was a ploy to get me off the phone and I would never hear back from him again. Arg!
The next day I went back to google to find more info on unlocking both of these devices. I located a forum for a different Dell phone. Some of their users had luck unlocking their phone by emailing "unlockcoderequest at dell.com". I figured what the hell, emails are free, I'll give it a shot. So, I sent Dell a nice email asking them to unlock the device I needed for work ....and by the way, this Dell Streak 7 too.
20min later I get a call from Bob. I figured I screwed my self by putting in multiple requests. After a few min of talking to him, I realized he had no idea about the email AND he had my unlock code for the work phone. Woo Hoo! After unlocking that bad boy, I asked Bob if he would unlock another device for me, a Dell Streak 7. I gave him the Service Tag and IMEI. Bob told me he would put in the request and it will be 3-5 days. (First one took 24 hours)
Five hours after sending the email to the address above, (Four and a half after talking to Bob) I get an email back from the unlock team, with BOTH unlock codes! About 24 hours after I asked Bob for the Streak 7 unlock code, he also emailed me the unlock code. You rock, Indian Bob!
So, what did we learn this week?
You can unlock the S7 by calling 1-800-308-3355
You can unlock the S7 by emailing unlockcoderequest at dell.com
Indian Bob is the best Dell support guy I have ever had.
If you are running DJ_Steve's 1.2 AND disabled the RIL to save battery life, you may need to format. (It never picked up that I had a sim in. I played with re-enabling the RIL for about 10 minutes before saying, "Screw it" and formatting)
3G does work on the AT&T network. (YAY!!!)

True! I get my unlock code in less than 24hrs! I call and send the email!

Ummm... now I'm a little embarassed. What the heck do I do with the unlock code? Where do I enter it?
Edit: Nevermind. I powered off my Streak and put in my SIM card from my iPhone, and powered it back up and it asked for the code. I entered it, and BAM! I was on AT&T's 4G network gettin data off my unlimited iPhone data plan.
So... will AT&T get upset with me if I swap that SIM card back and forth between my iphone and my streak? Will they even know?

Has anyone tried this with a Streak 5?

Hey Tom, You can swap sims back and forth without issue. I have 3-4 that I use for testing and have never ran into an issue. Dont know if they are "happy" about it, but I have never gotten a call from them.

Thanks, Mobile. I checked with a guy I know that works for ATT, and he said it was no big deal to do for short and small data tests. But anything more than that and you risk ATT changing you billing over from iphone data plan to a tablet plan. Since the iphone is a work device, im not gonna mess with it unless it. Its not worth getting in trouble.

Ok heads up. The email method didnt work. The said they couldnt cause its a retail device.
Now CALLING them, that worked. However.. was lil of a pain. 1st she tried to claim after asking me if I was on a t-mo contract that she couldnt till the contract was over. I told her T-mobile told me to contact Dell for the code, she put me on hold, talked to Tmos unlock dept, they said it could be released. So she gave me one code over the phone. (Didnt work) so now I am waiting on my email within 24 hours now to get it.

Ok got my tablet unlocked. =) The phone method does work, if you have patience. Free and worked with my ATT Sim, saw 4G too. =) While I plan only to use my TMO one, least its good to know I can now use my ATT if needed.

I've tried to buy unlock codes from two different companies - both returned 'not found'.
I've tried also e-mailing to unlockcoderequest at dell.com - the answer was about 'retail piece'.
Guys, can anybody get the unlock code for me by calling 1-800-308-3355??

I emailed unlockcoderequest this weekend and they sent me my code right over monday morning after I sent them my service tag off my invoice, my order number, and stated I paid full retail, even though I don't even have my streak yet as FedEx has yet to grace me with its presence.
I did buy the T-Mobile version of the streak at full retail price from Dell EPP as I work for AT&T and I am going to be using it with AT&T service. I just hope the unlock code works, as I have yet been able to test it. Will find out Wednesday or Thursday.
So for those having no luck, maybe the reason you aren't having luck emailing is if perhaps you didn't buy it at retail price, and got it with the T-Mobile contract discount, they don't give codes? Or maybe has something to do with me purchasing from the business EPP department?

Well you need to call dell. One question they ask is if you bought it outright or retail. If its retail, they have to check with Tmobile and your service if you are allowed to unlock it. But since you bought it from Dell direct. They will give you the code.

Dell Streak 7 Tmobile locked SIM help please?

So I have a dell Streak 7 threw Tmobile ( love it ) rooted using gingerbreak, nvflashed to honeycomb 3.2 everything works great!!!!! No I just need to figure out how to get my SIM Unlock code? Tmobile won't give it to me since I never hooked it up with them, I do have the pre paid sim installed and have a cell number, would like to know what's the best software to hack the code something like CDMA workshop or QST for evo, but DS7 is Iden? Any help would gladly be appresiated

if u happened to pay full retail and purchased it directly from dell they will give you the unlock code for free.... [email protected]

Saidly I found this out the hard way, I did pay full retail for it from tmobile $426 they are telling me I must hook it up to there prepaid at lest for two month after which have a paid up account with $10 on it after the two months and they can provide the unlock code, grrrrrrrr so I called dell, the refer me back to tmobile since they are the one who looked it grrrrrrrrrr
Any good tweaks out there yet for getting SIM unlock code

they have good feedback, might be worth it for the 1/3 of the cost

You're still gonna have to pay the 80 dollars or wait for tmobile to give you q code

[Q] Asking for SIM Unlock Code

I am running the 'stock' HoneyComb from Dell on the 4G US version (Not wifi version). Recently it has been asking me for the SIM unlock code upon waking the device. Normally I can just exit out of it but sometimes I have to reboot the device. Any idea what is causing this? Is my SIM card going bad? Is it a rogue application?

It shouldnt be a problem to have it unlocked.

send an email to dell : [email protected] with your imei number and say you are going out of the country for some months and need to get the unlock code. It only took a couple of hrs to get mine straight from dell.

Since my device is under contract with my carrier, Dell told me to get it from them. I called them (my carrier) and they are supposed to be sending it to me via email, I was really just wanting to know why my device is suddenly requesting it...?
Is it because of the Dell OS that was not issued by T-Mobile?

Received the unlock code from t-mobile and it unlocked fine. I would still like to know why it was requesting it though...?
