[Q] Flash 10.1 on Elcair - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently sideloaded flash 10.1 on Eclair. It installed with now errors. I was just wondering if anyone know why it still will not work when I browse website that support flash 10.1. Is there a perticular browser I should be using? Or is it not supported on eclair? Thanks

if you are able to go through android sdk change list, you will see Flash is only supported starting from Android 2.2.

[Q] Installed Mobile AP port on stock AT&T Cap; should I remove before upgrade?

I installed JR33/Andy2na/DesignGear's MobileAP port (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760193) on a rooted, stock AT&T Captivate. I assume that it won't play nicely with the impending stock release.
Since I am new to Android, I am not clear on what gets wiped and what does not when an upgrade gets pushed. So my question is - do I need to remove it before updating? And if so, how, since I don't see it under manage apps (it was installed as a package through ClockworkMod Recovery)
Note - I only installed the package, I did not flash a different kernel (I manually install the wlp2pservice after each reboot)

[Q] Will daveid's rooted repack be able to automatically update to honeycomb?

Sorry, bit of a noob at this. I just installed CWM, about to install the ROM on the below link. I don't want to have to re-configure everything by installing a new ROM once honeycomb is released, if possible. Would his, which is a rooted and slightly modified version of the official Dell update, be able to update to Dell's official Honeycomb automatically, without having to add a new version with CWM and lose all my apps?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007877 <--- his ROM
You will have to wipe regardless and hc isn't no where near ready yet.

Help upgrading to 4.2.2 from 4.0.4

Hello,
I upgraded to an ICS version 4.0.4 awhile ago through this website and it was a pretty painless process. Though recently I've been wanting a new phone, but looked into Bionic's software development and I see that I might be able to hold off if I can install 4.2.2 which seems to improve the phone a lot. Currently i am on system version 6.7.232.xt875, android version 4.0.4, build number 6.7.2-223_dbn_m4-9. I've tried installing safestrap 3.11 to start the process of installing CM 10.1 but it crashes every time I try to run it. Can someone please provide me with a starting path towards upgrading my firmware.
Thank You

You need to take the stock OTA (4.1) to get CM to run.

[Q] Google play conn problem on •ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.4.6 and cyanogen mod11

Hello all.
I have updated my samsung galaxy ace GT-S5830 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat with CyanogenMod 11 ROM.
I have had several problems but they all seem to have sorted themselfs out apart from a few glitches as follows
im using cooperfix v6.0.4.5 recovery and i have •Android 4.4.2 CyanogenMod 11 ROM for Galaxy Ace installed on card. I am unable to revert to CM7.2_JellyBreadv1_GT-S5830 using cooperfix v6.0.4.5 recovery as it aborts the instalation with a red triangle in the belly of the android bot and text.all the links i used to do it originly are dead links hotfile and another dead link. The only zip file it will install is the CM11 one.
Factory reset takes me back to cyanagemod boot screen and then the set up screen so its defaulting to CM11 and then in set up screen its imposible to set up gmail account and google play e.t.c. All the cooperfix files on here for older versions are dead links because of some federal law?
Wifi is perfect and connected straight away and the browser app works perfect connecting to the internet everytime.
so how can i get google play back again and working so i can install app and use it and if not possible to resync to google play how could i revert back to an older version. I really do prefer these custom roms but im struggling. Any help will always be appreciated and will always involve a thank you from me.

Nice one thank you I have reverted back to gingerbread 2.3.6 via flashing cooper v1 and the md5 file in ODIN and its worked fine im running original stock rom with no problems. I have rerooted the phoneand installed CWM 5 recovery and looking into more stable custom roms as 11 is still in early stages.
Some of the problems i had were no camera/ no google play store / no connection / random bootloops/ alarm didnt switch off, and this really random one that the phone would ring but there was no way of answering it lol An exellent rom with brilliant potential and one i will use again but for now im experimenting with earlier versions that are more stable.
many thanks

Newer ROM than stock 2.3.6 WITHOUT root?

Hi all,
I've been putting different ROMS on my i9000 for a while now.
I got a new phone and my wife wants to use my i9000 to read her work mail. It needs an app that somehow does not want to install on stock 2.3.6. giving the "There was a problem parsing the package" error. Reading on the internet I understand that this error might come from not allowing installing from unknown sources or that the android version is too old for the app. I have allowed installing from unknown sources so I'm guessing the 2.3.6 android version is too old for the app.
So here's my question, I think I know the answer but not 100% sure. Is it possible to install a newer custom android rom on the i9000 without rooting? Or installing the ROM and somehow unrooting?? I'd prefer SlimBean or SlimKat, as clean as possible...
Hope to hear some positive news from you guys.

System is too old for this .apk package. Root itself is just included as "su" binary, so unless ROM has it implemented, it will not be here (95% of ROMs have it). No point to avoid root if flashing custom ROM. However you can "unroot" by deleting a few files (/system/xbin/su and /system/app/Superuser.apk or /system/priv-app/Superuser.apk).

Thanks Devloz. So if I flash SlimICS for example, I can delete the files you mentioned and it should not be rooted anymore? Will give it a try.
