Hi everybody
Let's start with this , i am an idiot
now we got that out of the way let's talk about what happened
i recently tried to flash this rom P1000JPJM4 all well except i was stuck to samsung logo so i tried to restore my old ROM but i couldn't because the bootloader was locked ... so i tried other roms non of them worked ...
so i thought of installing P1000XWJMI then fixing the bootloader then go back to the old rom or stay on this one ...
before i start flashing P1000XWJMI the battery logo showed up with very little left but i started any way
the device went dawn while i was flashing so i disconnected it and plugged it in the wall for re-juice but the logo of a computer and a phone with a yellow triangle started flashing ... i left it for a while when i came back i reconnected it to the computer but i cant but it in download mod or pretty much do any thing just jet black screen
reconnected it to the wall started flashing again ... to the computer nothing
so the question is is my tab now just a shiny piece of plastic or is there a way around this ???
thanks in advance
should this be in Q & A area, not here in Developer Zone!!
wrong area dude!!
Seems like you bricked your device!! But bricking a Samsung Galaxy Aint Easy Task.
Have you try holding Vol - + Power for Download Mode?
sorry for that ..
nop no luck just a nice black screen nothing more
while we are at it what do you thing i should do with it ?
shuld i blend it
will it blend
Hold power down for 10 sec then leave tab charging for 4-6 hours and try to reflash either Power key vol down or vol up.
Odin should see the tab when charged.
Don't worry
thanks man
gonna try that
when i held the power down for 10 seconds it kept flashing after that is this acceptable ? i mean leaving it charging while the freaking picuter is flashing ?
thanks again
so i did what you sugested ... nothing
the device is not recognized nor powering on
any good ideas ...or bad even
Leave it pluged in your comeputer for at least 30 minutes and when it gets connected to the pc push the power and vol. down buttons right away, just don't let go until it go into download mode. When I did that I had odin open, I don't know if that makes any difference.
I remember similar case to yours that was fixed after full charging of the battery.
Keep it charging for 6-8 hours then disconnect the cable and then push both Power and Vol-down buttons. If this does not bring download screen then try Power and Vol-up.
In case of success you should see tab-to-comp screen. Both screens indicate that the Tab is in download mode and you connect it to PC with ODIN and try reflashing.
Full battery charge is critical for the Tab - computer handshake. The cable is multifunctional and based on voltage level computer/tab make decision about the purpose of the connecting line.
thanks every body i think i got it
just left it connected for about 2 houres and it is poping again
trying to flash now
thanks again
I hope it worked, its pretty scary.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
it worked
yah msewidan no kiddin ...
i was looking for a local samsung dealer in google completly lost hope

I was doing an Odin One Click restore to return to stock
Odin got stuck for some reason. I waited nearly 45 minutes before pulling the battery and attempting to start over.
Upon pulling the battery, the phone went off, as expected. removed Sim, SD card, replaced battery, replaced battery cover, etc etc.
The phone is 100% unresponsive.
1: Removing and replacing battery - no effect
2: VolUp + VolDn + Power - no effect
3: Plugging into any one of the 5 USB ports on the computer - no effect
4: Plugging directly into the wall - no effect
Nothing I've tried or read has given any solution to even get the phone to come on.
Last ditch effort, going to leave the battery out for an hour or so, and failing that, going to leave everything plugged in for an hour or so.
The battery on the phone had nearly 95% when I started this endeavor.
Does anyone have any hints or suggestions as to other things to try?
Thanks.
I had that happen last night. Got stuck sending "factory.rfs" or something like that.
Anyway, plug your phone to the wall for a few minutes. Maybe an hour. Then open Odin, hold Vol-UP and Vol-DOWN (dont push power), and plug the device to the computer. It should boot to Download mode.
Now, I used the version of Odin that allows you to select the firmware -- there's another that comes with JF6 preloaded. I installed JH3. Also, when I selected the firmware with the "Phone" section and flashed, it did not work (FAIL). Later I tried the "PDA" section and it did.
Let me know how that goes.
EDIT: Plugging to the wall, the screen will not turn on. But the back will get warmer. Trust me, it is charging. My battery was full after the flash.

Thanks for the quick response.
I figured at this point, I couldn't do anymore harm that good. Worst case, I buy a new one.
So, I started tinkering with various key combination... Lo and behold, one particular set gave me the infamous "orange dump".
From there, and a bit of searching (i had remembered seeing the bit about the orange hex dump somewhere), I found the same solution you just provided.
Worked, phone is stock and functional.
Kudos.
Dave
i too was trying to install vodoo and after installing it my phone wont turn on it just keep on flashing atnt screen and next screen i see is samsung and thts keep on repeating no luck my phone wont turn on please help me am badly stuck.
thaank you.
IF you are able to get your phone to the point of seeing the att screen then you should be able to hold down the vol up+down buttons while also holding the power button...Just to be safe, hold it till the att screen flashes twice. Then release and you should be taken to the recovery mode. If not, Try the same steps again plugging in the usb while the att screen is present. Repeat as necessary. Good luck.
Hello.
I'll get straight to the facts.
I had my phone rooted with Odinv3 using "busybox" (is all i can see on my downloads).
I then went to update to Gingerbread today, but didn't realise I had to un-root the phone!
So this made the phone keep refreshing the samsung galaxy S screen.
I then went to reboot to stock using this thread. Said it passed etc.
Now my phone is completely dead. It won't turn on. Nothing at all when i get it into download mode. No lights turn on. Odin *does* recognise it when I plug it in, the yellow box lights up.
The computer makes a noise to recognise that somethings been plugged in.
But alas nothing on the phone. I've left the battery out and tried it in but nothing.
What can I do please?! I am stuck here. And fear i just have wasted a great sum of money...
Will I be able to take it back on warranty? I haven't had it long, 3 months or so. Would they recognise it has been rooted despite it being put back to stock software.
Thanks. Daniel
You are a bit unclear, can you get download mode with 3 button combo?
Sent from my GT-I9000
tried many times to remove and replace the battery worked for me
sorry for the google translation
I managed to get into download mode by doing a 3 button combo earlier, can't remember what it was but I had to hold three buttons *THEN* fit my battery. THen it went into download mode. I can't remember which combo it was though as i've tried loads before and they didn't work!
It won't do anything now though.
Could i have booted it with a wrong ROM and that's why it won't load?
How come Odin picks it up and it goes through that passing etc?
THis si so annoying.
Volume down/power/home hold til galaxy s logo then release a yellow logo should appear

Sorry for opening an old thread. But i have aproximately the same problem with one exception:
Odin won't regognize my phone.
I was just in the process of installing this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136449
It got to the first step: "DO NOT POWER OFF DEVICE!!".. and then nothing. Sat there for 15 minutes untill i unplugged it.
shut down the phone using the power button, but now.. its completely dead.
This was offcourse before I realized i had just tried to install a ROM for SGS.. not SGSII.
So.
Odin doesnt recognize the phone.
The phone won't turn on, no matter what I do.
Nothing happens when I try to charge the phone.
I've tried pulling the battery several times, but its just .. dead.
However, when I plug in the battery, the phone seems to get hot. Not very hot, but just slightly above 25 degrees (aprox).
I'm afraid i've f*cked up big time, and have to send it in for a repair..
Anyone have a tip of what I can do ?
(Yes, the battery is charged - not empty).
Have you tried going into download mode again? does the screen power up at all?
My advice is try to leave the battery out for 15-30 minutes, then try getting into Download mode again, with the USB cable already plugged in and ODIN running on your machine.
See if ODIN can detect it and work from there... May be better than nothing. Hope this helps.

Did you know how to flashing the rom (via CWM) ? You have to notice your battery percentage first.
What exactly were you flashing? CF-root? where did you get it from?
I had the battery out through the night and tried again this morning.. didnt work..
It SEEMS to be completely dead.. (with exception from that the cpu gets hot when battery is plugged in.. )
I tried flashing this:
http://www.multiupload.com/6QNW8P7DTY
I came as far as "Setting PIT file.." "DO NOT TURN OFF" in odin, and then everything stopped.
The battery was at 70% when i started the process.
The phone have only been on for about 20 minutes since.
Hey, last night before bed I tried to flash a new kernel on my galaxy tab gt-p1000t but it was for wrong device (actually flashed the one intended for my phone, the i9000). After I hit reboot the samsung logo came up then screen went black.
I tried holding volume down + power to get into recovery and it came up no problem. Since I was already in bed I decided to leave it until the next day, I just held power until it turned off then plugged it into the wall charger.
The screen showed the Battery app starting then it instantly vanished (cause it can't boot kernel obviously.) I just left it charge overnight and all day while I was at uni.
Now I have come home and tried to plug it into my laptop to flash a new kernel on it but I can't get it to power on at all, holding the volume down + power results in nothing at all.
What should I do? I have read on the net you should leave it on until battery goes flat then charge it for at least 4hrs then connect to your PC. Thing is I already charged it overnight, I have no way of knowing how to turn it on to drain the battery now.
If this was my phone I would just pull battery and then download mode but obviously no way to do that on the tablet since the battery is internal.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Agret,
take a look into the Overcome thread. I mean the first posting...
Do all the steps from up the beginning. That must be helping you out of your issue.
If that not help's, you have to search for the unflash thread
If I could flash my kernel I'd be fine but I can't even power on my device...

Then your obviously screwed.
Maybe next time you will be more careful and dont flash wrong files to your device.
Try and get into download mode, If not only solution will probably be JTAG fix.
Sometimes, ablack screen can actually be in dowlload mode.
So just press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds, then press power and vol down for another 5 secs, and connect to ur computer and see if odin can recognize it.
I got it working. I just ended up plugging it back into wall charger again and it let me enter download mode while in the wall so I left it on that for awhile to try and charge it then I plugged it into my PC and flashed a kernel using heimdall instead of odin and it worked.
There's a lesson in not flashing kernels right before bed haha
Thanks for the replies guys.

Yea, my friend was trying to remove a folder on our linux server while logged in as root (half-life server just a subdir of the root, /hl) and instead of typing "rm -rf /hl" he wrote "rm -rf / hl" and it wiped everything off the server lol
Don't ever do anything technical when you are not fully aware At work with 5hrs sleep I cloned a customers hdd over our backup server (oops) instead of over the new blank drive I had in it cause I wrote sdb instead of sdc =*(
Hello all,
I searched around, but didn't find anything quite like my issue so figured I'd create a new thread.
I work for a company that uses Galaxy Tabs for various purposes. One of our men brought back their VZW Galaxy Tab (SCH-i800) and it was in an infinite boot loop.
I went to recovery and attempted to do a full wipe. This did not work (partitions were all jacked up) so I couldn't get it fixed. I'm not sure if the guy tried to root the thing and broke it or what.
Anyway, I was attempting to root then fix the partitions (then was going to flash a stock unrooted rom) and ended up soft bricking it (Phone Icon -- /!\ -- Computer Icon). The issue I'm having is the only time that screen comes up is when the device is plugged into the wall. It turns on, then off, then on, then off. If I unplug the device, it shuts down with no way of bringing it back up. I've tried holding power for 5 minutes, the same amount of time with power + vol up and power + vol down. Plugging it into the computer's USB ports does not help either.
It's like the battery is drained but it won't charge when it's on the soft brick screen. I've had it plugged in to the wall for almost 6 hours now with no hope in sight. When it's plugged in, I feel heat on the back of the device like it would normally be charging. The AC adapter is also the standard warmth after a lengthy charge.
I was wondering if anybody has had similar issues with this device and if there is any way to correct it.
--- EDIT 8/10/2012 ---
Another thing of note is when the device is charging, I can power it down by holding power for a few seconds, but the Soft Brick screen pops back up almost immediately upon release of the button.
I cannot boot into recovery or the standard download mode even when it's plugged in.
As long as you can get the Phone ! PC screen, your'e good, because this screen IS as a download screen. Go to this screen and flash a known good ROM.

You must not have read the whole thing. Not a problem.
The only time I get the Phone ! PC screen is when it's plugged in to the wall. As soon as I unplug it, it goes away and the device won't start up no matter what I try.

No... When the device is unplugged from the wall it is shut down and won't boot back to the download screen, recovery, nothing. It doesn't turn on. There are occasions where the download screen stays up but it appears to just be frozen. The computer doesn't recognize it and neither does Odin.
I left it plugged in when I left work on Friday... Going to see if charging for the weekend does anything.

No dice.. still jacked.
I determined the following scenarios may have happened:
1) The battery died (bad battery) during a software update and messed up the partitions
2) The battery died (bad battery) while he attempted to (unauthorized) root or flash the device, messing up the partitions.
The only thing I'm sure of is the battery is fried so any kind of hacking I can do to the device are for naught. I was able to get it to connect to Odin this morning for about 3 minutes (after having it plugged in to the wall all weekend). During the flash it shut down again bricking it even worse. Now the device won't turn on when plugged in to the wall.
Thanks for the suggestions and help. I'm calling this a lost cause at this point. We're just swapping out the device for a new one. Once that's complete, I may tear the device down and try to do a reset on the main board to see if that does anything, though I doubt that's the case.
Right I had exactly the same problem as you (exactly the same symptoms) but I have now fixed my tablet.
Like you I got to the point where the Tablet had enough charge to actually unplug it and connect it to my PC where I then tried to flash a stock ROM using Odin. About three quarters of the way through flashing the stock ROM the tablet died, disconnected from Odin and I got a message in the task list in Odin advising me that the process had failed. Even weirder my PC did an emergency shut down and restarted in safe mode.
Anyway I tried it again but when I started my machine, once I'd logged onto my desktop I started up Odin as quickly as possibly, selected the .tar file and pressed start as quickly as possible....it worked and my tablet was flashed with a stock ROM. However my battery was still pretty much dead and the first time of charging once it had been flashed with the ROM took about 24hrs plugged in at a mains charger for the battery to reach 100%.
My point is persevere with it and you will fix it. I was at the point where I was about to send it off to be un-bricked but obviously I'm glad I didn't now.
It is a ***** of a brick though, this 'coma brick'.
I've been having these same issue with my friends i800 galaxy tab. Can you chime in and offer some advice?

same problem-solved
I was having the exact same issue. the device screen was completely black when plugged into the computer. I was just about to give up when, all of a sudden the device went to the boot error screen while plugged into my computer. Apparently, it must remain plugged into the computer for about 20-30 minutes. Once this screen appeared, I ran the Heimdall one-click unbrick utility, and like magic, my galaxy tab was working again. Give it a try, and good luck.

Also you may try this install Sony PC companion This will install all the correct drivers for the phone then take usb cord Holding volume Down And Plug it to the phone. If all goes well the led at the bottom should glow green
I had a similar issue and after 4 days of trying all what i could find out in XDA for bricked Xperia phones my SP is back alive.
For me it happened during flashing (with Flashtool 0.9.11) the stock firmware .257 with to less battery power.
Short Info to my phone when it happened
Sony Xperia SP C5303
Kernel: Dooms v01 (i do not think that this was the problem!)
Bootloader: unlocked
Stock firmware from C5302 version .284
System: deodexed and rooted
When i say flashing i did it always with flashtool because PC Companion and SUS did not recognize my phone at all (with locked bootloader).
My SP was behaving as following.
- When i put the wall charger on the phone nothing happened no lights nothing same if plugged in to the computer.
- If i pressed the power button unconnected the LED flashed red 3 times all the time,
after a while nothing happened anymore (which gave me the indication that the battery is completely empty)
- If i pressed the power button continuous during charging (wall/computer) the red light turned on until i released the power button.
When pressing the Power button long enough during i was connected to the computer the green light turned on and i was in flash mode.
But only for maximum 2 min. This was enough to flash all firmware parts except the system.sin (at ~80 % phone disconnected).
And this was the problem my SP stayed dead.
Before someone asks, standard connecting while pressing the volume down for flash mode or volume up for fastboot mode didn't work.
Now i tryed all:
- Left the phone on the wall charger without doing anything -> nothing
- Left the phone on the computer without doing anything -> nothing
- Left the phone on the wall charger/computer while pressing the power button continuous (did it with a tape) -> nothing except that it went in flash mode and red light again all the time
Now my last try (i was reading this in an X10 thread):
I plugged the phone more than 7 hours to the computer while pressing the volume down button continuously (again taped).
Next morning it first looked like that this also did not work.
But as i disconnected the phone from the computer and plugged in again the red light stayed on.
Ok give it a try i thought and i put the phone to my wall charger for 1 hour or so also here the red light was glowing continuous now.
And yeah i could connect the phone to the computer in the normal way volume down than usb and i was in flash mode.
I was now able to flash the complete stock firmware. After again putting the phone to the wall charger for 1 hour the system was booting :victory: .
And now i saw the problem battery charge in status bar showed 1 % but the firmware start up check showed 55 % .
I remember that i did wipe the battery stats in recovery before all that happened.
No idea if this caused the problem.
However i could now charge my phone and it is still alive relocked and on stock.
Hope this helped and good luck.
To prevent other people from this bad situation i tried to remember exactly what caused the drain of the battery to 0%.
Battery was on 25% at start. (I know this was stupid, i was too impatient as dooms v16 and cwm for locked bootloaders were released :silly
1.I started with trying to update my mobile to stock with PC Companion and SUS,
without thinking about that this will not work with unlocked bootloader. -> first battery drain
2. Got stock FTF for .257 (c5303) and wanted to flash it which did not work got errors always.
My SP was connected flashmode on my notebook a long time while i was trying to fix that (reading XDA, driver config etc).
Several times tried to flash without success.
-> drain, drain and more battery drain not thinking about that i started with only 25%.
3. Gave up on my notebook and connected my phone to the Desktop PC (here the config was ok i knew that from flashing before on that computer).
Meanwhile i assume that my battery was already close to completely empty.
As the flash of the FTF (all parts) started my phone turned off and was "dead", i do not remember on which sin it turned off.
The whole time 1. 2. 3. i never booted i always stayed disconnected or in flashmode.
And than the mess began which i posted in my previous post.
So my SP is officially dead. Need to replace to motherboard.

You should keep pressing that button till your phone's screen goes black and vibrates 3 times if it doesn't do that then either the mobo is dead or the button is broken!
well... that's why I kinda hate sony why not do like most makes do (Like iphone, htc, samsung etc just long press the power button to reset the damn thing! It gets really annoying to keep pulling my case and back cover off and then putting a pencil in that tiny hole in public :/)

Hope this helped and good luck.

watch?v=daNue2RsUbY ( video of my phone with the fading logo )
had the same problem with mines ( i manage to record this fading logo part )
hours later after the record my phone won't even turn on and it only shows that red light popping up when i press the power button
i brought it to sony's service center here and they replaced the battery, that managed to fix it <3
For me pressing the back off button and volume + button force it to fastboot mode. From there just flash a kernel and it is fixed.
which kernel???
