[Q] No Options in Clockwork - Nook Color General

I tried looking through all of the threads, Google, & every other method i could think of to find the answer to my question, but i can't seem to find anyone else with my issue.
I was in the process of trying to put the Honeycomb build on my internal memory, when i realized i was never able to get Clockwork Recovery working as it's supposed to. Whenever i select AND option, all i get is a blank screen (image attached). I have tried reflashing the recovery, both manually & through ROM Manager & even flashing it to the SD card (as stated in the Honeycomb tutorial) i'm still getting blank options.
I know my way around Android devices (never had any trouble rooting/flashing my EVO but this seems to have me stumped for now. Don't need anyone to hold my hand through it, just a push in the right direction would be a huge help.
~Thanks in advance.

go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922870
download the clockwork mod only sd card image
burn the image to your sd card via winimage
mounts and storge format boot/system/data(may crash, just hard reset)
now you should be able to reflash the image of your choice.

EDIT: Didn't see the picture until I logged in. I don't think any of my original post below is helpful for this problem.
Are you using the power key to select and turning the screen off? I've done that on my phone--used power instead of camera, and it turns the screen off. If you hit power again, it toggles the screen back on. Of the top of my head, I don't remember what the select button for the NC is, but the only other option we have is the "n" button.

Wow i feel stupid. I thought Clockwork on the nook worked the same as on the EVO, with the power button being Select.
FYI to anyone that comes across this with the same problem: Power will clear the screen & the 'n' button needs to be used to select.
Thanks robjective

G1 big problems

Hay i have a rooted G1 with Jf - can't rember what version.
I've been having lots of problems with force closing of various programs but otherwise everything was going fine.
After a few force closes today i decided to restart my phone, turned it off and then back on and stuck it in my pocket.
When i went to check my texts 5 minuets later i took it out and it was just stilling on the 'Android' splash screen - it was moving then freezing for a few seconds then moving (i don't know if that's normal but it wouldnt surprise me).
I took the battery out and restated again and exactly the same thing - it would not boot.
I did a quick search on the problem and remembered how to boot in camera+red mode - which the phone did fine. I then read that pushing green+menu+red would fix it.
I did this and the phone booted, but it lost all my home screen icons and was laid out like when the phone was bought. i then cheked an app or two and they are all still there and seem to have retained their data.
However other strange things are happening - the home button dosnt work, nether does the green, when i hold the red button i only get the 'power off' option not 'power off, silent and airplane' as i used to.
They are the problems i have found so far but there may be more. Basically i want to know what pushing green, menu, red actually does and i want to know what the hell is going on - im totally lost.
Please help
P.S. i did a test on the consol and it seems i still have root assess - just encase that relative
Go to recovery, wipe and reflash. It will solve all your issues.
I can't actually remember how to do that - can you explain more or link me?
and will it have any effect on my apps or settings?

You're going to need to go into recovery; press the home screen button, then the red (energize, end call, whatever) button. Hold both down until you get into recovery, which will be the text menu with all the selections available in green. Then scroll down to "wipe data/ factory reset" and do that- this simply wipes the phones internal memory. Then load the rom you are using, which I assume is already on the root of your sd card. If not, connect the phone, mount the card, and put the rom there before you get started with the above steps- chris

[Q] Reboot as part of Power Button

I saw this only once, as part of cyanogen rom but I was wondering if there is a standalone way of setting up a reboot button as part of the fly-out menu that comes up when i hold my power button?
I tried searching but all results seem to deal with general power button problems.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone? Just point me in the right direction or something.
i have not heard of a way to add this. but you can install quickboot from the market which is what i use so i never have to touch my power button in fear that it will fail on me over time. quickboot will reboot your phone, or take you right to recovery, etc.

[TUT] Installing new custom ROM using phone

In this guide i am going to explain you how to install a custom ROM using phone.
You need PC just to copy ROM on memory card, nothing more, nothing less.
First thing you need to do, is to check do you have Hard-SPL installed on your XPeria X1, follow next two steps to check that.
1. Turn off you phone.
2. Hold volume down button and PRESS AND HOLD POWER BUTTON, hold these two buttons pressed until three-colored screen shows up.
If in top left corner of the screen shows
"SPL-0.72.OliNex" (or what version you have)
That's important, if that is not shown, DO NOT CONTINUE!
POWER button will not work, so remove cover and battery, and put it back on.
Install ROM :
1. Power on phone
2. Connect your XPeria X1 to PC in Disk Drive mode.
3. Transfer the custom ROM you want to install on ROOT of memory card and make sure that it's named "kovsimg.nbh" (Sometimes when you download custom ROM, there will be several files in that ZIP/RAR you downloaded, but you only need ".nbh" file, and if that ".nbh" file is named "ruu_signed.nbh" rename it to "kovsimg.nbh")
4. Disconnect phone from USB, and shutdown phone.
5. Hold volume down button and PRESS AND HOLD POWER BUTTON, hold these two buttons pressed until three-colored screen shows up.
6. Three-colored screen will stays for one or two second, and then there will be a message on screen
"KOVSIMG.nbh - "
"OS - "
"Press the power button to start the update image"
"Press Action button to cancel update image"
PRESS POWER BUTTON, and installation begins.
7. When it reaches 100% it will say "UPDATE SUCCESSFULL". Again, POWER BUTTON will not work, so remove cover and battery, and put it back on, but don't power on phone.
8. (IMPORTANT) I strongly reccomend to HARD RESET PHONE BUT BEFORE YOU EVER BOOT IT!
9. Hard Reset - (Phone is off) Press two buttons below screen (left and right) and hold it, and press the power button UNTIL VIBRATE, then release the power button, BUT STILL HOLD TWO BUTTONS BELLOW THE SCREEN (IMPORTANT)
10. It's shown "This operation will delete all your personal data and reset all the settings to the manufacturer default settings, press "R" to restore manufacturer defaults or press "X" to cancel." Slide keyboard and press "R" wait for a few seconds, and it will show "Restore completed press Space to restart" so press space and slide in keyboard.
You have successfully installed your first custom ROM, now align screen and set date & time, and that's it. First time, it will take three to four minutes to boot, that's called "Cold Boot"
another great thread
"9. Hard Reset - (Phone is off) Press two buttons below screen (left and right) and hold it, and press the power button UNTIL VIBRATE, then release the power button, BUT STILL HOLD TWO BUTTONS BELLOW THE SCREEN (IMPORTANT)"
this step is extremely important. i messed up the first time and my phone was noticably slow lol.

Thank you again yeaah, i messed up the first time also, becase it wasn't explaint very well
I have to say I liked the "Task 29" thread better. A lot of information here is redundant. In principle both threads describe the same process (SD card flashing).
Only this one is Task 29 short (which suposedly is important in flashing).
I expected this thread to describe the USB flashing method, which is in fact different. But it's more-or-less the same really... with more detailed naming descriptions... but minus Task 29.
The other thread has the potential to be a complete guide to SD flashing. Only steps missing is Hard-SPL - if it hasn't been done already. This one - less so.

problems after installing custom rom on htc dsire
Hi there Description: I’m even scared to write… Description:
Newbie Noobie here. Greetings!
Got myself a birthday present a few days ago – HTC Desire.
If it helps, here are the details:
======
Firmware version: 2.2
i rooted my phone and then followed the steps to install custom rom
Anyway, here’s my problem (there were posts about it before as well).
Once I reach point 5 in Step 2 [i.e. Turn off your phone & turn it back on holding POWER + VOL DOWN then use vol up/down to scroll down to ‘Recovery‘ and power to select.] after I click ‘Recovery’ my screen either stays white with the green HTC logo or just goes black – in either case, that’s it… nothing happens and no buttons work.
The first time it happened I almost got a heart attack (well, which noobie didn’t?) because I thought I’d just bricked my baby… Right now it is still the only way for me to do ANYthing after getting the black screen…
Any suggestions/help will be more than welcome! Thanks in advance!!!
(And sorry for the long post… I always need long intros and all the details listed to make myself as clear as possible)
Please do help me
i am nearly crying while typing it
email me the response
cheers

I have never used HTC Desire, i am XPeria X1 user... but my guess is that you do not need to go to recovery mode, i meen on my XPeria i just enter bootloader mode (Volume down + power) and ROM load itself... This tutorial is about XPeria, so... maybe you should post your problem to HTC Desire thread... Good luck... let us know what was the problem

Screen goes black/fixed/keyboard problem now

So I inherited a G1 that looks like its in good shape. But when I turn it on it briefly flashes a boot screen that quickly fades to black.
If I hold down the power and camera button it starts to boot, I let go of the power button and keep the camera button held down the screen will stay lit and I can see the fastboot mode. As soon as I let go of the camera button some other words flash on the screen and it dies again.
I looked through the forum assuming I could quickly fix this and have a new backup phone but this forum is now so advanced nobody seems to be having basic problems like this. And anyone who is still here seems to have lots more experience than me with this particular model of phone. Usually the stickies have an unbrick thread but I cant seem to find it.
I am sure this is something simple but if someone could point me in the right direction, or say the screen is burned out, I its bricked, or whatever you think it might be, I would appreciate it.
After more reading and discussing with previous owner, I think that the Camera and power button puts it into fastboot. (not sure exactly what that is yet)
From there it tries to install something from the SD card but fails.
The SD card contains DREAIMG.nbh and two empty folders. It seems to be trying to install something else besides DREAIMG but it fails so fast I cant catch it.
Is there something else I should place on the external SD card or perhaps a different version of the same file?
The previous owner also told me the G1 had been running CM6 if that makes any difference. ( I know it does on CM7 ).
I can get it to the screen with the three skateboarding androids (engineering spl indication? )but any time I let go of any of the buttons the screen fades right to black, making any further button pushing useless.
Any helpful hints? Anyone? Even a thread you think I should read completely?
I copied the DREAIMG.ngh to the desktop of my computer and reformated the SD card. After I bunch of button pushing and holding I managed to get it to hold on the HBOOT screen without going black. I pushed the trackball down and it reloaded the image apparently. Now it turns on and such but none of the keyboard buttons work and it says safemode in the bottom left corner. I will continue to read and search.
I cant find anything in this forum about safe mode. I am stumped.
The phone will boot and tries to get me to sign up for the gmail account but the keyboard only has the d, e, f, and x keys working.
The emergency dialer seems to work. I dialed my other phone with it and it said its not an emergency number and wont let it dial.
I am pretty sure this is not a lost cause here. There is just something I am missing. Could it be a bad flash from the DREAIMG.nbh?
Would it be possible to download a different image.nbh from someplace and try that?
Anyone have any ideas?
ok what are you trying to do exactly? i think your having trouble because the files on your sd... take them all off and see what happens??
can you boot into recovery? holding home+power??

Trying to get a functioning phone is all. I am comfortable fiddling with it , just dont know the process to go through.
I pulled the SD card and rebooted and its the same result. Little grey box in the bottom left that says 'safe mode' and it proceeds to the google account screen.
The touch screen works, and the trackball seems to. but Home and Menu dont so I cant even back out of the sign in screen.
Booting up with home+power gives me the triangle with the ! inside it instead of any kind of recovery mode like I expected.
Like I mentioned earlier, I believe it might be running CM6 but I am not even positive about that. I was told it was.
Any suggestions on my nextstep to get it into some kind of functoning state? I am willing to try anything suggested. New ROM or whatever.
I really thing its something simple, I just dont have any expreience with this model at all.
After more searching I guess the ! with triangle is the first screen of the recovery mode? But pushing Alt+L or Alt+I doesnt do anything.
I am used to the Galaxy S recover mode being all right there on the screen.
So next step would be......?
no wait you get the triangle and the !?? thats good lol that is the stock recovery mode.. so now i know what to work with when you get to that screen you can press alt+L and a list should pop up!!

Nothing, hold down Alt and then press and hold L. No changes.
The other odd thing is now when I do the camera+power combo it takes me to the welcome screen instead of the HBOOT screen. I was going to try reflashing the image on the external SD card and now it wont do that either.
The return+power combo also takes me to the welcome screen now.
The welcome screen is where I want to be except the 'safe mode' seems to be keeping the keyboard from functioning?
what welcome screen? lol
are the keys sticking maybe? lol

First I get the T-Mobile G1 screen.
then the Android guy
then the Welcome to T-MobileG1, touch the android to begin.
That all seems normal to me, except for teh grey box that says 'safe mode' in the corner.
So i touch the android and it moves to the Setting upp your T-mobile G1 screen and wants me to enter my account info, which I cannot do because the keyboard is not funtioning properly. Its almost like the image flash borked the keyboard drivers or something.

the d, e ,f , x keys are all working so I think its not a stuck key. no other keys seem to work though. nor the menu buttons.
would safe mode mean some of the drivers are disabled? kind of like on a desktop computer?
And if so, how to get out of safe mode?
uhhh i never even been on safe mode.. is the led blue while its on? my advice would be to unroot but you cant get recovery functioning properly so im not sure what to do.. do you know what radio and hboot you have?
does it go to safe mode when you just boot up normally?

Yes, safe mode shows in the bottom left corner of the screen when I power up normally.
I should have writen down what radio and such as I saw it displayed when I was in HBOOT and installing the DREAIMG.nbh file but I didnt think to.
Now I am either getting the Welcome to T-mobile screen or the first step of the recovery screen depending on the button combo I use.
But I am unable to proceed to do anything useful.

[Q] Help me turn my Captivate off!

So here is the situation:
My power button is non-functional. This happened before, and I was able to press very firmly on the power button to access a shut down menu and turn off the phone. From this, I was able to enter download mode (pressing volume button while inserting USB) and go back to stock, which surprisingly, fixed my power button. I thought this nightmare was over.
Now, my power button has stopped working again (ICS hacksung 5.0). No matter how much pressing, prodding, whatever, I cannot get the power button to turn off the phone.
I cannot find any adb commands to turn off phone.
"adb reboot download" simply restarts the phone, no download mode. (adb does recognize the device)
If I take out the battery, as soon as I put it in the phone boots up.
If I am pressing any of the volume buttons when I put the battery in, I can access recovery mode (But cannot select anything because power button is still broken)
Any ideas? I doubt my phone is still under warranty (1.4 years old) and I do not have mobile insurance.
Thanks for any help in advance
Depending on what recovery u have (cwm or ?), U can use the capacitive buttons, while in that revovery, to navigate and select the power off option.
Sent by XDA Premium App
Thats a neat tip that I didn't know about, but I can't find any option to power off? Sorry for being retarded but I have given this time I promise
cwm recovery is what I have installed atm
Reboot to CWM and Power off option may be at the bottom of the 1st screen that u come to. That is dependent on what version of cwm u have though.
Quick boot from the market, you can place a poweroff button directly on the home screen
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using xda premium
The ICS ROMS CWM recovery doesn't have power off choice, so he can't do that.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
Unfortunately the quick boot "power off" option simply froze my phone, or restarted it.
I let my battery drain so that I could get a dead phone (that part worked), but when I hold my volume buttons and plug in the USB for download mode it goes to the "battery" screen or (if both are held down) recovery. No download mode.
In recovery "key test" the power button fails to register any key press, but it is not spamming either. This seems like a hardware problem, but I am not sure how it was fixed when I flashed back to stock before if that is the case
I will next try making a download mode jig, I'll let you guys know how it goes...
My cousin had the exact same problem less than a month ago.
I see you tried reboot download through adb, have you tried it using the same command, but using android emulator from market? That worked for her phone so worth a shot.
its a far shot but odin is now available for use on the phone itself and works on our phones. maybe you can find a kernel thats had the buttons reconfigured. i know darky has one somewhere.

Thanks for this idea, when I use
#su
#reboot download
the phone simply reboots. Same thing happens in "Quick Boot" 's "Bootloader" reboot option. This phone just seems broke as hell.
Firstly, this power button problem is a lot more common than you would think. It is most often a hardware failure - I mean the button mechanism (springs etc. just dies). Google it to see how common.
Your post suggests a clue: If just putting the battery in reboots the phone, then the power button may be stuck in the "in" position.....so it is always getting "pushed". Then anything you do would mean ht epower button is already being pressed. If this is the case, you will never get a software solution ???
Also, I absolutely do not mean to be nasty. But if you search both Q&A and General sections there are previous threads with this button problem. Many other solutions have been posted and it will be difficult to list them together.
Finally, you can actually replace - yes, replace - the button yourself. Google/you tube has it.
