Hi
just jumped from Nexus One to Nexus S... I'm using flashlight alerts on my Nexus One when I get a call or sms the LED starts to blink.. but it don't seem to work with the NS... is there any program that work? I'm using NoLED but thats for the screen
thanks
I think we have to wait until Neldar ports his BLN (backlight notification) hack to nexus s. That's the only thing I'm missing from my samsung galaxy s.

ok, but I mean the camera LED
I whipped up a quick Tasker task that works using Tesla to blink the LED. It is not complete. You will need to set up a new profile and context. A Wait in the Goto loop might be a good idea too. And some logic to have it stop.
Here is the xml
<class cl="Task" sr="">
<nme>light</nme>
<id>26</id>
<class cl="Action" sr="act1">
<code>444</code>
<class cl="IntArg" sr="arg1">

Edit: it is set up to increment a variable for every toggle of the light. I'm sure this could be better if I spent more than 3 minutes. Let me know.

sorry but I did not understand anything could you please explain i detail, thanks!
I think he's talking about this: https://market.android.com/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
@rborg Thanks, this looks promising. Could set up all kinds of notifications and have the LED strobe (like 3 short and 1 long for SMS) depending on the notification.
Ill write a full message tomorrow with links and complete the script.
Im finding that I can use tasker instead of many standalone apps. Wrote a very clean task and widget task to reverse lookup calls not in address book on 411.ca, if any Canadians are interested. Better than any of the apps I have tried. Amazing how easily Tasker can parse html.

Sorry. Got lost in some other stuff and forgot about this. Latest tasker supports the led natively. Give me an exact situation and ill post a script that should work for you.

no, it just blinks for a couple of seconds, maybe 2 seconds, just to notify you if you have your phone upside down.

So that version doesn't work on NS yet, right? I'll do up a tasker script.

Yep that would be nice if you could do a tasker script, I'd like to have it ;-)
thanks !
I tried to make a notification stuff working with tasker and teslaLed. My problem now is that I'm not able to shut down the flashlight after a few seconds (it stays on until I shut it down manually).
Could anyone post a tutorial for tasker so that I can correct this ?
Thanks
[EDIT] I made a few scripts for tasker, they still need to be updated. Anyway, if someone need them, here they are :

I have seen people have issues with that app on more than just this device. My suggestion is to just use Tapatalk. It doesn't crash.
Turn to portrait mode, it crashes in land scape view. I uninstalled it.
Same issue with the Motortrend and Automotive mag app but i kept them and just use them in portrait.

I don't believe the Gear can do that. It has to go thru your phone via Bluetooth. Down the road, but non SMS or anything that needs WiFi or internet. I can use it for searching in Root Explorer and things on the Gear.

Im going to try pushing tablet talk to my gear after work tonight. I use it to send sms from my WiFi only tablet - it connects to the phone over bluetooth basically makes the call/message functionality of the gear work on a tablet with the exception of you cant use the tablet as a bluetooth handsfree like the gear.

I fixed it by downloading older version of tablet talk apk. For some reason the newer version crashes. I am using tablet talk version 1.7 which you can easily locate on Google. It works without any issues. Hope it helps.

All,
Here is a copy of the Samsung Apps APK that I have modified to remove the touchwiz requirement. Just download and install. This should provide the Samsung App store to custom roms/GPE edition roms on your devices.
YMMV, but this works perfectly on my device.

What exactly was done ? Was the framework removed from the android-manifest file ?
I've installed it on nexus5, but it says country/device not supported. Does buildprop edit make a difference?

Yes. I removed the tw framework from the manifest for this apk, rebuilt and resigned using a development key.
It's not that simple for the rest of the gear stuff, unfortunately. :/

Since I don't have such a device to test on, you might give it a shot after making a backup of your current build.prop file.

You'll have to get a third party application for that, and even then it creates several other bugs. You can work around them but they are annoying.
