apps . I forgot, can some one enlighten me how to.

I know how to disable it for good using qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 line at the end of build.prop but not sure how to do it per app basis

You'll have to get a third party application for that, and even then it creates several other bugs. You can work around them but they are annoying.

Softkeys/Navigation Bar mod for car install idea

This is an idea I had while trying to get use to my tablet as a head unit. I found it very annoying that I had to switch screens to change the volume or tracks.
I wanted to see if anyone would think it would be a good idea to add a few buttons to the navigation bar like a skip back, forward, play/pause, volume up/down.
I'm trying to figure it out myself but I'm not the greatest programmer so I figured if I shared my idea someone might might be able to figure it out.
This is what I was thinking!

I have almost finished an app which will add next/previous/play and many other things to the soft button bar. Maybe I'll add volume controls too. For the moment the app was planned with the new bar style in mind ( aka not the omni bar seen from 3.0 to 4.1 which was abandoned in 4.2) but I think a little tweak will render it compatible.
I'll keep you updated.

CarHome Ultra is awsome for this. I will allow you to put buttons on the screen that control music play. I use it every day.

But how does that help me when I'm on a different screen like Google maps?
I tried it a while back and didn't like it at all.

MotoXposed killing SystemUI in 4.4?

Any fix to this? I keep trying to fix the spacing between WiFi and Cellular icons, but every time I do it basically kills my phone since SystemUI stops working.
Am I doing something wrong?

Is "Hide navigation bar per app" still there?
Hi, I've just bought the LG GFlex today. My D955 comes with JB 4.2.2.
I do really love the feature that let me hide the navigation bar per app, I find it extremely useful.
I'm really curious to know whether this setting is still available into the new KitKat update.
Reading that the LG G Pro 2 having already KitKat doesn't have it, although it has a software nav bar, I'm wondering whether this feature is incompatible with KitKat due to its full screen API.
Those of you who already updated their GFlex can please answer this question?
Thanks
I am also interested in this question.
Some have the 4.4.2, could give us the answer.
Thank you.

I'm curious as to if google wallet tap and pay finally works. I may be completely mistaken, but on KitKat, I don't believe you need the secure element like you did on older android versions. Not having tap and pay is one of my few complaints about this phone.

I just updated my F340K to 4.4 and now I get a google error in each boot, "com.google.services.gapps has halted". I tested several solutions like clear cache, clear google data, also removed my google account from mobile phone and still appears.
anybody with same problem?.
Regards.

I'm replying to myself, the problem comes from swiftkey app (swipe keyboard), after unistall it the error message gone. Maybe a compatibilty issue with KitKat.
I left the solution here for further reference.

Crap. I miss that coming from my old Galaxy Nexus. I figured as soon as I got on a carrier phone, it would be blocked because they have that worthless pile of garbage Isis as their own.
Hi again guys, after update to 4.4 I'm having very heavy battery problems. I lost around 20% of autonomy, I already check startup software without results, anyone in same situation?.

kitkat update, looking good
Got my kitkat update yesterday (I'm in the UK with an f340 model). Things I've noticed so far:
Text does look sharper (different font?).
Home screen now available in portrait.
Better way of handling apps in full screen (before there was a small arrow at the bottom of the screen to show the soft keys if you'd chosen to hide them for selected apps. Now you swipe up to show the soft keys - definite improvement).
You can hide the volume and/or brightness sliders in the notification pull down.
You can now say OK Google when you launch Google by swiping up the home key.
Signal strength, and other information in the status bar at the top are now white/light grey (I've already forgotten if they were green before!)
Love this phone!

Great. This means that there still the possibility to hide the nav bar selecting which app to apply this feature to. Thank you so much. ??

Anyway to change back button to the right?

Its to hard to reach with my bright hand. Can we change it to the right side like you can the LG phone?

Nope. In the future it'll be available with custom ROMs.
Kinda, in developer option click force RTL layout ? only thing I can think of.

That works perfectly thank you. I now might keep the Nexus 6 thanks to that fix. After I installed multi Window and Nova Launcher I am very happy now! Really torn between this and the Note Edge.

I was totally loving your suggestion about RTL... Until I noticed the notification bar. I can't do it, lol. Thank you, though. You almost made my day. Literally one of the features I'm dying for ROMs to start implementing.

This is probably a dumb question (not a lot of rooting/dev experience here) but how do I get that RTL feature to work. I have a Nexus 6 running Android 5.0, new as can be, and looking to help my normal-sized hands by putting the back button on the right.
By the way, just to give some helpful advice for one-handed use of a phone this size: Nova Launcher, Swiftkey (right-sided mode), and I just ordered the Minisuit Tactic Handstrap Wallet (on Amazon, $8) and it looks like it'll be super thin/flush with phone (or case) and allow me to put my finger(s) through for tethering. Yes, I know that these phones are large and meant to be used that way, but Android is awesome for customization and you can do just as much with the exterior of the phone as well
I just want the option to move the buttons closer together, that would be great
If you change your dpi to 380 it forces the N6 into tablet mode and the buttons are closer together

Does anyone know where in the ROM files we would be able to edit the nav bar so that we can "hardcode" the back button to the right side?

Am I the only one that hates the lack of swipe up to Google now

I like android 6.0 its fast, reliable and now on tap is great but I have become accustomed to swiping up to check my Google now, and I don't understand why it's gone. Can you not use now on tap and the swipe to Google now, I used to just swipe up check the weather, traffic or whatever I needed but now I have to hold it down wait for it to search a screen I don't care about then tap the Google now square or I have to go find the app. I'm sorry but I seriously hate it its terrible.

I don't know I have never had that problem maybe that's why they changed it, I feel like other people that actually use Google now and not just the search feature would miss it.

Agree, was confused when I tried swiping up, tap and hold takes much longer in my opinion than the previous swipe up
