whatsup guys, so i am rooting my g1, (got a new one from insurance so i can resell it)
i updated radio, to the one that ends with .22
and flashed spl, it told me to reboot, so i rebooted, it looked normal but it was at the g1 splash screen for ever, so i took out the battery, now i can't get into recovery with home+power or by holding camer+power.
when i do try it just sends me to the g1 splash screen....
does this mean it's bricked? what should i do?
Assuming you have non-stock recovery:
First of all, pull out battery. Wait 5 Sec. Put it back in.
Press and hold Home button. Press Power. Keep holding home button. You should be able to boot into recovery.
For SPL, Do the same, and hold camera before powering.
Flashing radio&spl via recovery is risky..
no luck, when i try to do that it just hangs at the g1 splash screen for ever...

Welcome to your new paperweight. Only options are jtag or swap out the board.
Next time could you put questions in the Q&A section please? Thanks.

So I followed all the rooting steps did the radio first and all that jazz then chose a rom, Got it loaded up on my g1 but when I reboot it just hangs at the t-mobile g1 screen for.....well, Ever. Help? Please and thank you.
turn off phone
hold home and power, you should be at the recovery menu. wipe and flash a new ROM
if you fail to get this screen, turn off, hold camera and power. you should see 3 skating androids, tell us which radio and SPL you are using
if you fail to get this screen also, i'm guessing you flashed haykuro's SPL before upgrading the radio, and have a very fasionable paperweight
First of all, I am a newbie so please be patient with me....
I have the Sprint HTC hero and I did the following to root my phone>>>
hxxp://theunlockr.com/2009/11/18/how-to-root-your-sprint-hero-in-one-click/
After I rooted my phone succesfully, I came on here and downloaded Damage control v2.0r2 found here >>> hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653222
And then followed these instruction to load the damagecontrol ROM>>>
hxxp://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-your-htc-hero/
I then hit reboot and now my HTC hero has been stuck for the last 30 mins on the start up screen which is white and has the words "hTC" in green letters and under that it says "quietly brilliant" in black letters, I can't turn the phone off or it will not let me hit the power button and home button to bring up the reboot screen.....I then tried plugging in to my PC through USB again and my PC screen went black.....
can anyone help????
pull the battery reboot into recovery and make sure you wipe EVERYTHING

Thanks for the input......
I tried doing this.... pulled battery and phone shut off.
I started phone back up by holding home and power buttons and it takes me to a white screen page (that has 3 androids on skateboards down at the bottom) that reads:
HeroXC
HBOOT-1.41.0000 (HERO20000)
MICROP-0110
TOUCH PANEL-SYN0140
RADIO-1.04.01.09.21
Sep 1 2009, 19:18:45
(Then it seems to give me only one option)
CLEARSTORAGE
Delete all user data?
<ACTION> Yes
<SEND> No
I was hoping to get the original reboot screen....what can I do from here????

Yes....I followed the steps under #2 on this website
hxxp://theunlockr.com/2009/11/18/how-to-root-your-sprint-hero-in-one-click/
(change x's to t's)
Try the tutorial on this page. Its the one I used and got it right the first time. If not, you can try Fresh's Kitchen. Its pretty much a one click root that actually works.
are you making sure you are not holding down the volume down button when you boot?
Hold down your home key and while holding it down press and let go of the power button. Just to be sure keep holding the home key. You should boot into a recovery console. Let me know if you get to it
If not you can still access it if you can get into fastboot....which is holding the down? volume button and turning it on.
Fresh's kitchen will Root your phone. I wish there was a way to get his on the top of google search's. His is alot easier than all the other methods.
Thank all of you that responded.
My phone was fixed in the weirdest way. I simply hooked it up to my PC with USB and rebooted both my phone and the PC and it worked.
So it seems that I may have simply unplugged the USB from the PC too soon and that is why it did not reboot all the way.
Anyway, that was just weird. A simple reboot to my PC while hooked to the phone through USB and it works fine and damage control Rom is working fine.
Once again thanks.
I noticed you got it to work. But I would like to add for anyone reading this, when you got the android guy on the skateboard its just the normally recovery screen that comes on the phone, its always there even when you flash a new recovery to your phone. Sometimes when im tryin to boot into recovery I will get the same screen, pull the battery and try again, Iv had times where it went to the white screen 5 or more times and then finally boot into my custom recovery.

You will probably have to wipe everything and flash a rom again.
Here is a nexus boot screen that will work. And it wont mess with the rom.

:/ i just put a next theme on it
Hello, I got hold of an HTC G1 but it seems like it's bricked. When I turn on the phone it shows the T-Mobile G1 screen then boots into recovery every time, even though I never press the home button. Looks like this phone boots into hboot by holding the return button instead of the photo one, is that normal? I tried restoring the phone with the DREAIMG.nbh but when it instructs me to press the send button or any other key to cancel nothing happens. When I am in the recovery mode the keys seem to work as I can alt+s and alt+w. Is there some way I can fix this or might this be a bad keys/buttons case?
Thanks for reading.
Is it rooted? If so, try Flashing a ROM?
I don't think it's rooted, I have the official recovery img.
Redownload a new copy of the DREAIMG.img from another reliable source. I recall downloading one that was corrupt when I first rooted my phone and it gave me a few days of trouble. Try reflashing from there.
Hey everyone, first time here! (And unfortunately not a happy first post)
So, I recently got this HTC One and was trying to get back to stock ROM after a journey with CyanogenMod 10.1 (Which was awesome, but a bit laggy).
Now, I wanted to go back to stock, and so I flashed this ROM I found on these forums (that said to be a .401 version that was stock and the most recent version). Biggest problem here, I'm pretty sure I forgot to wipe data and cache.
The problem that I have right now is that my phone is stuck on the HTC logo, without me being able to shut it down...at all.
I can't boot to bootloader, can't boot to recovery, can't do anything
When I press on the power button (Tried up to a minute) the back and home button start blinking, but nothing else.
When connected to my computer, the PC seems to detect it, but I'm not able to access the storage, or do anything fastboot related.
I'm kinda afraid my phone is bricked!
Help?
Thanks
Rule #1: if it does anything.. It's not bricked
You need to hold the light sensor up to a light source (lamp, sun, and etc..) and hold down the power button till it turns off. Then boot into bootloader and get to your recovery and wipe/re flash

Wow! Thanks for quick response!
I was able to shut down the phone and get it to restart, but I'm not able to boot into the bootloader (holding volume down)
It just goes back to the HTC Screen (the one with Beats logo)
Just want to say thanks a ton!
I was able to boot back in the phone!
Thank you!
Lucky you! Rule #2....whenever rooting your stock ROM for the first time, boot up, then take a Nandroid, and keep one copy on SDcard and your computer!
And maybe going first with popular and proven Custom ROMs, close to stock. And taking a Nandroid of that one as well!
Glad you got it all sorted

Awesome! Thanks for the tips!
Weird thing, I was able to flash Cyanogen, no problemo (since I didn't forget to wipe cache, etc.)
The other ROM I used was supposed to be a stock image (I had found another one that worked, but I thought the one I found later tonight was closer to the version that came with the phone).
Anyway, long story short, I'm a noob, and that's ok!
Thanks to everyone for the help!

Thanks for this, phone just randomly restarted after a crash and ended up at an error screen. No matter how long I held the power button down it wouldn't restart. I'm in a dark hotel room, so held it up to the window and it restarted immediately. 30 minutes of panic over

Wow. I have to say I was stuck at the HTC Boot logo to no avail (blinking capacitive buttons) and holding it up to a light source actually worked (while holding down power). Thanks so much.

I had a similar problem with my phone.
What I did was instead of trying to get into recovery, I just went to fastboot and flashed the recovery image again and it work.
You may want to try that. (Flash the custom recovery again).
He cant do that, dont try flash recovery, your bootloader is locked, it wont work.
Hold volume down and power button, you will see home and back flash at the bottom, just keep holding till your phone goes off, then hold then volume down only as the phone restarts, should take you into the bootloader.
What did you do to get it stuck in a boot loop ?

I seem to have a similar issue. The problem is that I do not have enough time to select recovery (nor any other option) from the bootloader menu. The phone reboots again before I can choose and confirm my selection. Any pointers?

You have bootloop in the bootloader? If yes then you have a serious problem, probably hard bricked.
