I was looking for something in the app market and happened to run across this. Looks like a new update for Youtube. Seems like a little smoother interface and bit more finger friendly. Just figured I'd share!
The native YouTube app? Or are you talking about a 3rd party one?
I ask because I'm not getting an update notification. Since its one of my most used apps I'm definitely interested in any new improvements
The native app. I didnt get a notification for it either but it's def a different verision then what I had before. Try searching for it in the market.
I think it may be for 2.2 only.

I'm running Cog Beta 5.5. Which is 2.2.
But, it looks like it is completely separate than the YouTube app which comes pre installed on the captivate. Just downloaded, and so far I like it.
Here's the Appbrain
EDIT: It also allows you to edit the SafeSearch controls. Which I had heard previously Samsung (or ATT) disabled.

Can anyone else confirm this? I never got a backup so I don't want to upgrade unless this is true.

It definitely does let you edit the safe-search controls. First thing I did was turn them off
still cant watch a lot of music videos (thanks to VEVO) and a bunch of popular videos (worst dj ever) are still not viewable or searchable.
Have to use the regular Youtube site and use flash for those videos.
It clearly states on the AppBrain page that it is for 2.2 and up, so no dice for us Eclair users.

yeah,i downloaded this yesterday and i really like this version- the interface looks much better dark and i like that i have access to my channel when away from my computer...found out about the new youtube app through android central-no notification was sent to me since the captivate doesn't officially have 2.2?(i have the leaked 2.2 )
thanks for the headsup!!
New app looks awesome Thanks for the find.
Can someone please go to the new YouTube app (if you have it) go to settings and see what the application version is, please?

Really liking the new update. Again this is for 2.2 only, it didn't show up as an update to my current youtube app, but it did replace it once I downloaded and installed it.
Hopefully Google continues to add more and more of the stock apps to the market... one way to combat the horrors of Sense, TouchWiz, etc.

Ported to 2.1

Confirmed working on my end.
Definitely an improvement but still can't comment from within the app which I hope they implement
Well since on week i am th owner of th Milestone 2, so far so good. But i am missing the 3D gallery.
- Tried the one from Droid x for Froyo, won't load the images
- Tried an other one, loads images but when i start the camera from it, i can't access the setting of the camara (settings work well when i start th cam directly or from the normal Mediagallery)
Anyone has a good one?
seams that no 3D Gallery exists for Milestone 2 not even a ported one?

I think that is necessary for synchronization of photos and videos with your Google account.
I've put the CM7 for Milestone 2 and it just works fine. I always make a backup and change roms to mix the non-crashing apps. XD
thanks!

No such app exists on Android Market or AppBrain.
Sure you got the name right?
Great name for thread Everyone know what`s inside ... To answer for Anyone have should be

Little more usefull key words in the topic name for future?
Well, as most of us probably heard iOS saves your location data in a plain text file... Well android does that too. Read more here: http://thenextweb.com/google/2011/0...iphone-android-stores-your-location-data-too/
Your file are stored in /data/data/com.google.android.location/files/cache.cell
Personally, i dont care. Differences between Apple and Google policies are really big, just read the provided article and decide by yourself.

Hmmmm nice to know, is it ok to delete the file? And if so will a new log be created after that has been deleted?
Back it up first. And yes probably a new one will be created.

There are 2 differences between the way Apple/iOS saves locations and how Android does it. First of all, Android will only save the last 50 gps fixes and the last 200 wifi fixes. Second of all, it only does so if you agree to it (Settings > Location and security > "Use wireless networks"). Where as iOS/iPhone logs all fixes and does so without the user even knowing about it.

I think it is okay, as long as you have another files in other system so that you can be sure that it will not deleted permanently.
there's an app in the market wich let u see the logs and perm. block them even if wifi-location is enabled
Which app is that?

All I can see is that it limits Samsung apps to only three category choices: Health/Fitness, Lifestyle, Clocks. It used to also have Utilities, Finance, and something else I can't remember.
