Hi Guys, I just got the phone (international/ non-carrier version) yesterday. Updated it to 4.3, and rooted it, following the guide from HTCOneRoot.com.
Everything is fine and dandy, as when I rooted my previous phone. But in my sheer eagerness, I didn't find out that the 4.4 was available also.
I now have a rooted phone, and I can't update it, as it goes directly to TWRP recovery when I try to install. I guess this is what it's supposed to do?
From what I can read you cannot install OTA when you have rooted your phone.
So I tried looking up how to unroot it. But this seems like a rather difficult project, and I am not sure I understand. From what I read I need to download a RUU, to install a stock rom(?) and I tried looking up this, but there are tons to select from, and I haven't the slightest clue which matches my phone. Can anyone be of assistance, as to how I can revert my root and update to 4.4, so I can root my phone with the latest android, instead? I'm not really interested in getting a custom rom on my phone.
Guess I should've read more about rooting before doing it, as I'm kind of a novice, but I'm more a trial and error kinda guy .
Thanks.
Edit: Or should I just find a custom "stock" KitKat ROM, and install that, from my current position? Is that even possible?
Sort of an answer

Hey man, so to find the right ruu go here htcdev webiste, go under kernel source code and then choose device as the one and then choose carrier and download one of the matching ones.
For the other stuff I'm in the same boat as you. Just waiting for answers...I would try looking at youtube and type how to unbrick htc one and try those first. Didn't work for me but might for you.

Thanks. I'll look that up.
I am not bricked, as the situation is now. I just have a rooted phone, working with 4.3. And I want to upgrade to 4.4.
So I guess I have to choose HTC as carrier? I live in Denmark and am unsure whether to choose EU or EU NFC as region? Also what kernel version do I want to download? I am somewhat unsure what to do next.

Do a fastboot getvar all, and choose the RUU that matches your MID and your CID
I've only rooted my phone so far. From what I understand I can just install a "custom 4.4" from this point, right?
Hi Folks,
Firstly, I genuinely apologise for having to post about unrooting but Im genuinely confused on the route I need to take.
I am currently rooted with S-ON running the Revolution custom rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023). Im wanting to take it back to 'normal' and unrooted as I don't feel I need it rooted as Im not noticing any gain from it.
I have TWRP Recovery installed too and I took a backup via TWRP before flashing the custom ROM - my carrier is 3/Hutchinson 3G
From looking about there are several ways to go with unrooting but I just really need clarification on the method which is most suitable for my situation.
Kind Regards
Sam
Recently Sony has launched the Kit Kat 4.4.4 on the T-Mobile Xperia Z1s. I have the Original 4.3 Jellybean Rooted. I would like to update but I downloaded the update thru my phone and it gives me the DEODEX menu I think is what it is called. I am a newbie or a beginner in this. I did the root myself reading and following steps. Is there anyone who can help me out because I know the Z1s comes with bootloader locked. I had to rooted not like many other phones with just one click or a few steps and its done. Please don't judge me or tell me What I should Do. I came here because I know you guys are the best and know WAY MORE BEYOND I know. Please Let me know how to update it with out loosing any info or root. I do not run custom roms, I have also always wondered what are those for, what do they do. But I do not modify anything on my phone but just the SuperSU that grants permission to certain apps that need root access.
Thanks.:cyclops:
You can't update it with root on it.
You need to flash stock rom or unroot to install update and then root it again if new firmware is rootable.

Hi everyone,
just tried to root my Tmobile USA, D415. however it says device is not supported. Did lolipop break root via this method? Any alternative methods?
While I am reading all the threads on how to do this, I want to make sure I'm not blindly using an outdated method. A pointer would be greatly appreciated.
Also, which method of installing a custom room would you guys recommend for installing a custom recovery?
I will continue to read for possible solution.
Thank you in advance
I know I have posted multiple times asking the same question, sorry about that still learning how this works. I am aware that if I do a software update, I will lose root. However it has been quite some time and I would like to update if I can. My worry is, will I brick my phone?. This is a link to steps I followed to root my phone. I am still very new to this, sorry. And thank you for you help! Love XDA

Yo will not get OTA updates while rooted, but you can download any available firmware for your device/country/opearator, one consideration to take into account: if you want to downgrade for any reason, you must not install a firmware with a higher bootloader version
