do you have the proper radio and spl? if not, flash the radio first so you don't turn your phone into a paper weight.

Hello all,
First of al, English isn't my best language, so sorry for any mistakes..
So a few days ago I flashed my tattoo with the hijackenROM 1.4 (android 2.1), but before this I had the FroYo AOSP rom (fyodor). The first thing that I remarked when I flashed the rom, is that it wasn't as speedy as the FroYo rom by fyodor, so I decided to go with a custom 1.6 rom (HCDR v1.6), and there was already ROMmanager installed on this ROM, so I wanted to flash my recovery to the newest Clockmod recovery ( the devlopper said that we should flash it to the buzz(wildfire) version of the recovery) so I did that, but since that day I can't acces my recovery anymore, I also can't flash another recovery trough fastboot or adb (remote: not allow) because I have a locked SPL I think. When I try to acces the recovery menu, it just stucks at the tattoo logo and nothing happens, so I allways have to swap out my battery and restart..
So my problem in fact is, how do I unlock my SPL to a engineering one so that I can flash trough fastboot? And can I also use a SPL of another phone (magic, g1) ?
Thanks for any help!

did you try to flash the official ruu with the goldcard? Then, I think, you should be able to root and install a recovery again..
yes, definitly : goldcard + RUU should work if it's only boot/recovery partitions trashed.
It worked for me for the same problem.

This is the second time I have seen this problem. It seems odd. Me and quite a few others on here use clockworkmod from ROM manager and it works perfectly (doesn't even touch the recovery partition).
okay so i had to flash and downgrade back to RC29 from Froyo roms, i rooted, then upgraded my Radio, and also flashed Hard SPL. but when i try to flash Danger SPL it wont change, i check my boot loader and it still keeps saying hard spl is still installed.
note: im using amon ra 1.7.0 recovery
Solved: used Amon RA 1.5.2

Before Danger You must need to Flash your RADIO first and then reboot and try flashing Danger.

It is obviously smarter than you.
DO NOT FLASH DEATHSPL!!!! There is NO BENEFIT to it.
Use 1.33.2003. Be safe -- don't brick yourself.
If you want deathspl's partition mapping, use this instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717874

Hi there. I just got my G1 as a backup phone, and I am having issues with flashing CWM. When I flash it, I choose "HTC Dream", and it flashes successfully. However, when I try to boot into CWM, it will just hang at the G1 splashscreen. I have noticed Amon_RA recovery works fine, but the ROM I want to use (COS-DS) is recommended to be flashed with CWM. I have tried formatting the SD card and reflashing already (many times). I also tried the experimental versions of CWM but they will not flash at all. If it helps, my buddy installed SuperD (a donut ROM) on this G1 before he gave it to me.
My G1 is a 32B PVT device, with the Engineering S-OFF, HBOOT 1.33.2005 (DREA10000), Radio 2.22.23.02, and CPLD-4.

From my experience with ROM Manager/ClockworkMod. The recovery do not work well. I recommended that you stay away from it.
Amon RA works fine without CWM.
I had the same problem when I first started flashing ROM. My big mistake was to start using it. Took me about a few months to realize that it does not work well and it will hang at the G1 screen.
Now I see that they still have not fix this problem. LOL!

I agree!! 100% CWM doesnt work as well as RA and personally that COS-DS rom isn't that great... froyobylazslo is way better!!! but if you really want cwm that just downlaod "rom manager" from the market and apply/flash cwm through there... very simple

If you already installed Amon RA, then I would recommend uninstalling CWM. Then you should be able to get into the Recovery Mode.
If you have not, I suggested that you do. Then uninstall the CWM.
It is not that hard to boot into Amon RA recovery and do what you need to do. I found out that it is easier than trying to use ROM Manager/CWM.
Also, you might want to try different ROM (IE: froyobylazslo, gengerbread yoshi, or even SuperAosp) if you are so incline to use CWM.
