Custom boot sounds don't work with the cappy kernels that have a modded playlogo1 file, which we need to have custom boot animations, and all of the current dev kernels use. It just doesn't work.
If you build roms in the rom kitchen, you can restore boot sounds with sgs tools

you want the stock annoying sound ?
you can custom your boot up sound: make a wav file, name it PowerOn.wav, copy it to /etc folder.
I have a custom tried that it doesn't work apparently its a kernel issue

From what I understand if the kernel supports custom boot image then boot sound will not work. Could be wrong though.

It has to do with the ROM choice as well, I believe the boot sound is contained within the odex, so if the rom is deodexed, there will be no boot sound.
Who's rom/kernel supports boot audio in determined to have both ill figure it out

Hi
I need to replace 3 system files namely (libaudio.so , libaudioflinger.so, libaudiopolicy.so) so that "Total Recall Android by Killer Mobile" can work on my captivate. I replaced themonce before and bricked my ph. Now I had to ODIN it back to Eclair.
How do I replace these files and not brick it again. Are there file permissions that needs to be matched if yes what permissions & how?
Those files would have to be modified in order to not soft brick your phone. Your best option is to just flash firefly which has that feature
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Also ud have to change permissions on the files before rebooting. It should look like
XXO
XOO
XOO
where x are checks and os are unchecked

What do you mean by firefly has that feature. To record calls OR the libraries that I need to replace.
Sorry to reopen this old thread.
the option to record calls
Hi XDA!
I would like to ask if there is a method(which really works) to set startup and maybe shutdown sounds for the LG GT540.
In the stock 2.1 I remember changing startup/shutdown sounds easily, I just replaced the sound files with another.
Or is there any script or any way to include sound in bootanimation.zip?
I can't believe that everything supports boot sounds, except Cyanogenmod7
If you can help, please do it!
In 2.1 boot sound is loaded by program who is initiated by init.rc, you should to to edit boot, place "playmp3" program in place where is located in 2.1 and you can use the same path like in 2.1 system.
that won't work pebe if i remember you need a modded kernel because if you modify the init.rc it will get replaced on each reboot

That's bad The 2X startup sounds are very good, for now it remains a dream.

Really ? When you repack boot image it won't restart its contents.

You can mod the init.rc and pack it into a boot.img yes that works but you cant edit it using root explorer but i just remembered a work around i will post it after i get some sleep

for playing startup sound need libaudioalsa.so because bin/playmp3 have link for this file.
Try use this files from P500 2.2/2.3 and edit the init.rc

Thanks, hope I can get it to work, but please help me a little bit more.
I'm downloading the system dump of the Optimus One, I assume the file will be there which I need.
Where do I need to put this libaudioalsa.so file?
Then where should I copy my .mp3 and what should be it's name?
What to edit in init.rc?

Awaiting your workaround
preparing it now
I'm trying to mod an existing custom rom for my own use. Im just changing some pngs.
I unzip it, use formatter to change framework res apk to rar, unpack it. Change my pngs, repack it, use formatter to change back to apk. (Do I need to sign it?) Zip up the folder with 7zip, set compression as store.( is this correct) . But when I go to install it in cwm it wont install. I'm clearly missing a step. Someone please tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong. Thanks

Anyone know what I'm missing. Read as many tutorials as I could find. But clearly I'm doing something wrong.
