open the rom zip on your sdcard, go to /system/app and pull out the mms.apk, or you could reflash whatever rom you have.

How can I get Market In My Legend

Hi
I have HTC Legend
My Legend had Market, but when I replaced the ROM to Arabic ROM I didn't find the Market .
I Tried to instal it and the Market installed Successfully and whene I search I fine what i want, but whene I click "instal" it showing (FC)
is there any way to install it ??
Try a factory reset. The Modaco custom rom lost the market on reboot for me, factory reset fixed it. Might not work, but it's worth a try, right?
it's not working
The official ROM (Arabic ROM) didn't have Market.
you can install an alternative market like SLIDEME
download it here: http://slideme.org/sam2.apk
go in adb:
adb install /PATHTO/sam2.apk
Thanx
but you Know it's not enough
I mean I didn't find many Apps.
thanx any way
You could try to taking the rom open it with dsixda Android Kitchen add Vending.apk and see what happens!
Try the attached file.

the thing is i really don't wanna root the device... i wanna keep it stock.
any way i pulled the market app off my g1 phone, so can it be adb pushed and installed on a non rooted device or can i use htc sync suite to do it ?
ok i think i'm half way there,
i found htc sync for windows on the htc legend sd card "the one that came in the box"
i installed it and it went smoothly. after installation completed i have the option to install apps thru the htc sync...
as i said earlier i extracted the market app from my g1 running cm6.
so i went ahead and give it a shot trying to install this app but there was an error on the phone saying "error parsing the package". so any ideas

you must check the (Unknown sources) box, you can find it in Settings/Applications/Unknown sources on your phone.
Ahh it was my bad, I tried the market updater apk rather than vending apk... anyway I got the vending apk and it didn't work at first coz of diffrent version. So I asked another member here if he can supply it and thank him very much he did then I used htc sync software to install it & yay here it is on my legend but it keeps crashing when trying to download...'ll invistigate and see

it will not work like that, you must first root your Legend and just flash the (market_signed.zip) without changing your room.
only then it will work, i tried it and got it working on my Legend.

I think you should read a thread about how to root your legend by modaco. try to search in this forum first
then, you can try one of custom ROM which you prefer (for example: azure) and don't forget to flash google apps which can be select if you download this ROM using ROM Manager, or you can download it separately.
after that, you should have market as one of you apps in your phone
cmiiw
Will this work? I think you need more than just Vending.apk because Market needs to connect to Google to verify the user. Only then you can access and download apps from market.
And of course you need the Google framework to be present as well.. and gmail since the phone needs a Google account to access market..

Right. Because Vending.apk can work on itself. Its connected to a number of apk to make it work like it should. So unless you know every single required apk to make Market works, I suggest you flash Gapps which contains the whole Google apps and just delete the ones that you don't use. Or maybe just leave it there, your choice.
I too want only the Market but I can't find what's what and I've been searching for months!

[Q] Droid market force close - cannot restore rom manager

Hi - have the original droid. Rooted. I tried installing a ROM (Cyanogen) then my phone didn't boot with the screen I was expecting.. just looked like the original factory reset. Market App now force closes every time I try to open and I cannot install any ROM for file managers to get out of this mess. I did a full wipe - same issue. No apps and cannot go into market to install any - Force close as soon as I open it.
When I try to install a custom ROM as update.zip I get the message that it is not signed. I have recovery 3e.
Build:FRG83D
Kernel version:2.6.32.9-g68eeef5
Original droid.
Help?
Thanks in advance!
Try the finding a place to download vending.apk or some such...I had to do this a while back
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
thanks for the quick response. I'm hoping that I'll be able to use that without a file manager on my phone... off to track down that file!

Still trying to get this APK loaded. Having difficulties with the SDK... can't figure out how to use ADB. Would take ANY solution that allows me to restore a functioning market. Anyone have a follow-able process for restoring my market, or flashing with an entirely new ROM to restore functionality?
Alright. Commenting on my own post again but this is how I got up and running again:
Friend gmailed me the rom manager APK file which installed right from my gmail client (nice).
Then I ran ROM manager flashing the recovery and downloaded sapphire 2.0.
All installed and ready to go!

[Q] accidentally deleted a TouchWizCalendar.apk

I feel so stupid. Should have backed up before trying to do this, but...
I was trying to upgrade my TouchWiz30Launcher.apk but I gave up, unfortunately, i did rm Touch*.apk. I have no idea what the h311 I was thinking, but luckily I only lost the calculator and the calendar. I found the stock calculator apk and put it back. Works fine, but I am having trouble with the calendar. I was having trouble finding the right one and it foobared the app. It is no longer in the installed list and not executable anymore.
ANY help would be appreciated. Freaking out a bit as I like my calendar. Gahhh!
Thanks all.

I flashed it as an OTA upgrade (well, using the Samsung crap). I don't have the original flash file.
I've tried to execute the .apk and it goes and looks like it is trying to install and then says (with a check mark mind you) Application not installed. How awesome is that.
Any other ideas?

I think if you flash the firmware via Odin without repartitioning, you'll get the Samsung apps reinstalled and user data not wiped

Fastest way will be just the desired apk and then use root explorer to push it to system>app

Well, I tried that. I found a file in what I think is a compatible firmware and pulled the TouchWizCalendar.apk on to my sdcard and copied it to the /system/app folder. Doesn't seem to work. It's like it's not there. I tried to rename the TouchWizCalendar.odex file to TouchWizCalendar.odex.bak too without success.
Is there something that I'm missing?
Perhaps someone with 2.3.3 and Titanium Backup could backup the app and send it to me? TB can restore an app that isn't on the system, right?

Oh I'm sorry, if only there was some way to find and download the stock firmware for the i9000 and i9000m, which is listed in a thread dedicated to stock firmware for the SGS.

[SOLVED]Calender app is gone

Hello, since I've been using IceColdSandwich, my calender app is gone. I tried reflashing the ROM and installing the latest gapps but it's still gone.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

Have you tried flashing another ICS rom like Playground? Do you have the calendar widget?
I haven't tried to flash another ROM, because I prefer to stay on this one.
I don't have the Calendar Widget.
Basic question, have you installed gapps? Try to re-install gapps.

Yes, I have gapps installed.
can you install any other calendar app from google play and see if you can open the calendar using that app. Try simple calendar widget app.

You could try to install another ICS just to find out does it have calendar?
If it does, you could pull it from that rom and push to the one you desire.
Or take a look at /system/app the Calendar.apk should be there. If it is, you can try to try to install it..

At system/app there is CalendarGoogle.apk, when I try to install it it says "App not installed".

1. Try to get this app from another ROM (similar ICS version) and save it to your PC
2. Then connect a USB cable to the phone
3. From the PC open the DOS prompt and do a adb install <path-to-calendar-app>/<name-of-calendar-app>.apk
If this fails then may be the app is already installed and somehow it is not launching or you are using a non-compatible launcher which is causing the app icon to not show up. In this case try wiping out everything (dalvik, cache, data) from CWM.

I took the apk from another ROM and installed that one, it worked.
Thanks to all.

[Q] How to reinstall Contacts and Phone apks

I replaced my original working Contacts.apk and Phone.apk after being tempted by some claims of GS3 equivalents or orignal.
Now, i cant search contacts and cant dial.
Is there any way I can restore/ reinstall the original apps?
I had installed Rocket Rom V7.
I tried flashing again, didnt work.
Thanks in advance.
You'll need a root explorer. Navigate to system/app and copy and paste these files there (Remove the [1] at the end) and reboot.
Contacts: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22523714/Contacts[1].apk
Phone: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22523714/Phone[1].apk
I'm pretty sure that its not possible to paste these back in place, the only way to restore working usage is to factory reset.
It depends if you're getting fc when trying to access the contacts and dialler, or if you go through messaging, does it bring up the dialler OK?

Yes you can, you just need root. I did the same thing but luckily I backed up the original APKs.
