Just got my HD7 for free with tmobiles sale today...windows phone 7 is amazing. Just general use is so much better and satisfying over Android and iOS...now for the issue I'm having..
I ended up putting in the wrong windows live id and now when I go to settings/email&accounts I can't edit my email for the live id, but I can change the pw. Any tips on how change the account?
reset the phone?
Pretty much gotta reset it. You'll be amazed at how fast it'll do it.
Settings reset or factory reset with the volume rocker?
I think they're the same thing. Go with the vol rocker to be sure if you are worried.
Thanks that did it.

I would like to write simple security app for my phone, that wouldn't allow manipulating with mobile after it is ordered to enter disabled mode. I thought about it, and there are 2 things needed to be done. First I'll have to disable screen - not a hard task, but secondly, I need to ensure anyone won't be able to hard reset phone until mobile have disabled state. Normal reset won't be a problem, I plan to start that security app right after the phone powers up and load windows.
If the phone won't respond to commands and to perform hard reset(which would allow bypassing app by wiping it), phone is useless to anybody.
So if I want that to work, I need to disable hard-reset option by any means, but not disable whole phone. It got to be able to power up so app can again run and undo all changes. Is there any way to do that and don't break anything?
I've seen similiar app to what I want build, but it disabled phone totaly, so even after recovering it, it was unusable. That is where I want to improve, so I'd be glad if someone could help me.
i know nothing about mobile programing, but got some though regard what you want to achieve, you may need a customized password protected bootloader.

hey, this sounds like a cool task. I can help with the SPL modification.
you would also want to protect it from reflashing with another ROM.

I think it might be just enough for now If we could password protect our systems from being wiped/flashed, but as I read, this wasn't possible. I'm not sure if times changed, but with android and win7 becoming popular, I doubt that anyone will take an effort and I don't know enough to make it by myself...

This will be cool app .
I think what cmonex said may help by securing SPL itself, to start with.
Thanks.
Disable Hard Reset?
I think someone has already done that - and sent it to me in a virus in an MMS. My phone keeps wanting to "Power Off". If I respond "Yes", it immediately restarts. If I respond "No", it wants to "Power Off" again after a couple of minutes. The phone doesn't respond to the power button. I can't perform a hard reset.
I've been trying to find a copy of the shipped ROM to try reflashing it, but none of the links to the Australian Telstra ROM (2.31.841.6) seem to work. Can't seem to find one ANYWHERE?
This is driving me CRAZY.
Is there any OTHER way of doing a hard reset (eg while connected to PC?)
PS Oddly enough, it seems that while the phone is connected to the usb port of the PC, it DOESN'T try to power off! - Whoops, cancel that... "Power Off" dialog just came up!
Hey guys could use a hand here. My brother in laws phones keeps asking him for username / password when he starts up his device. He said he entered lock screen whilst drunk too many wrong times . He cant remember his info . And wants it working asap again. I did however root his device for him if that helps matters .. Im unsure if i could do a factory reset for him or even how to do that?
Appreciate if anyone can help .. Thanks !
Hi ****,
If it is SIM locked I would imagine after entering his code wrong a few times it should be asking for his PUK code. If you ring his provider they will be able to issue you with the PUK. This will unlock the phone. When he set up the phone he would have been asked for a security pin which they will have on file this is needed or his phone is locked until that code is entered.
Wiping the phone will not remove the SIM lock if that is what it is you are refering too.
If you can be a bit more specific on the lock. ie: How he set it up in the first place I will see what I can find to help out.
Hit the thanks if this helped
Hey thanks for the quick reply .. i thought about the PUK .. but he says its just asking for his user/pass and he can see how many missed calls and txts he has but cant read them or do anything until he entershis login info .... very confused
Yeah no worries. Get him to give you the details of the phone make model, exact lock he is using and we can go further. Until then there is an endless list and we will no be any closer.
its the Galaxy S i9000 he has .. and he just setup the normal DOT pattern lock code .
Try the link below. Should help him out. Seems that he may have to use lowercase only for his email as it is case sensitive for some reason. If not he needs to put his password as "null". This will ask him to create a new pattern from which he will be back to normal. A hard reset will work as well but if he wants to keep his data then I dont recommend that way.

Be sure to hit the thanks
i think were going to try the hard reset .. lose all data we know but at least he will have his phone back ... just to confirm i follow these instructions right ?
1.Turn the power off. If your Samsung Galaxy S is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
2.Hold the Volume Down button
3.Press and release the Power button
4.You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
5.Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
6.Press and release the Power button
7.Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO
If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the Samsung Galaxy S. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.
Why not just follow the link and unlock that way without the hard reset??? Unless of course he has forgotten his email as well?? Which seems a bit weird if that is the case. Who forgets their email right?
Also the above mentioned wipe is not quite correct. Go to this link here

So how did you go any luck??? I'm interested to know if the information in that link works!!
If this works for people can someone let me know
Who knows could come in handy
Hi everyone,
This is my first post so I hope you are kind enough to help me with this issue.
I have an HTC 8X Blue (bought it factory unlocked) and recently I have updated it to GDR2. It happened what many other HTC 8X's user had. It bricked when I was playing some music.
I found an article that has a solution allegedly (I cannot post the link but it is the most popular solution aparently). But my problem is that I cannot enter Bootloader Mode as one of the first steps requires. My phone is simply dead, I tried every combination of buttons (hard reset and soft reset), but non is responsive. Of course, my PC does not recognize it and when I plug it in to the wall the red light does not turn on!
I do not have experience in modding or flashing or what-ever process needed (for Windows Phone), but I do know pretty much for iOS so I can learn quickly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Your best option would be to get it repaired/replaced by a service center. If you're near a Microsoft store, they can take care of that for you. If not, it'll be trickier.
Otherwise, the only advice I can offer is to leave it for a while, let the battery drain entirely if you can, plug it in again, and try to start it... even if it won't boot normally, you may be able to access the bootloader mode now.
Thanks for the quick reply! I actually do not have a Microsoft Store as I live in Argentina...
I think i will try to drain the battery and restart it. Should I restart it the normal way? I mean by holding power button?
Yep, basically that.
You could also try calling HTC support and seeing if they have any other recommendations. The battery drain thing is basically just in case the phone got stuck in a weird state; resetting it that way may help.
is your phone stuck in QHSUSB_DLMODE i got my stuck there the other day. what i did was hold VOL UP, WOL DOWN and POWER all at the same time until the phone vibrated. wouldnt you know i unbricked my device.
Hi guys today I bought this phone and by a mistake I somehow reset the system so I waited for it to boot and then I swiped up the lock screen and woom - no startmenu:crying:
I can screenshot see battery stats by swiping down and I can answer calls and sms so what happened?
Hmm... I assume you've tried rebooting the phone already? Can you use voice commands (press-and-hold the Windows button, say something like "Open Settings")? You may have to hard-reset again (using the boot-time hardware key combo, possibly) and let it do the full out-of-box setup process.
If that doesn't work, return the phone; you got a lemon. As nice as the hardware is, I'm beginning to return to my old opinion of Samsung; they just don't give a damn about their customers or supporting their devices.

Thanks for the reply but I hard reset with the volume and power keys in the recovery thingy "!"
Now it work fine
Sry for bad English it's not my default language.
Out of curiosity, I tried Google’s Find My Device and it worked very well with one (I think) major fault. As soon as I tried it, a notification appeared on my phone, Device located, Find My Device located this device.
Now to me, it seems silly for the phone to advertise the fact that it has been found to any thieves.
So far I haven’t found a way to turn it off.
Anyone know a way around it please?
Best regards,
Do not worry to much as I do think - it will need root to disable this , but maybe Im wrong ?
In my logic thieves know about phone tracking as it is nothing new it was with the android for years . Iphone etc
When thieves stole the phone I think they will turn off the phone + second the phone will go to flasher to clean from google accounts etc to make as reset phone
and from then Phone can go to overseas market so if it is stolen and you have reported IMEI they can use in other country
Security for me is to keep all my data on phone encrypted so than if phone stolen or reset there will be no my data my contacts pictures messages etc Phone is hardware yes will be sad if stolen , but images messages is my life and to find some information on you tube or naked pictures on net can change life forever

Easily solved by not keeping naked images of yourself on the phone
But in any case, seeing naked images of me won't ruin my life, it will ruin thieves'!
When the device located notification shows long press on it, it will take you to app info, turn off notifications, all of them for the app.
