hi,
my laptop and my galaxy p1000 can discover and connect to the wifi in my house without any problem, but my htc g1 cannot discover the network, it cannot connect to the network as well if i input the ssid by manual. the interesting thing is that my g1 is able to discover the wifi signal from other house, though i am not sure i can connect to them because they are all password protected.
i think there must be something wrong with the wifi settings in my house, but i just do not know where should start to troubleshoot this issue. please give me some ideas/suggestions.
thanks,
david

Go to "Wi-Fi Settings" and then to "Advanced" by pressing "Menu" button.. Then select "Regulatory Domain", select 13 or 14 channels... You will have your wifi
If the above didn't solve your problem check if your router is broadcasting in B/G/N

Hi,
I've got an Alpine and all the ROMs are simple out-of-the-box as from O2 back in september.
Previously, I would use it to connect to the wireless network in my university. I would turn on the wifi then select the network to connect me to the internet and then enter the wireless key we have been provided with.
However, now it just stays on 'scanning network' and doesn't prompt me to choose a network or enter any key. Sometimes it claims that an IP has been assigned, but it doesn't progress past this. I have tried soft resetting and changing the wifi from 'best battery' to 'best performance'. I have also tried being really near the router.
My friends can access this network just fine on their laptops, and when I run WiFiFoFum it shows up just fine. I am pretty certain the router is a 802.11g one, and I can't tell if it's been changed since I could access it before.
My problem is I know virtually nothing about WiFi, so I don't know how to troubleshoot this. I was hoping someone could give me a bit of help?
Thanks.
try this.
turn wifi on
go to settings
connections
network cards
see if you have networks listed, if u do delete them.
turn off wifi and turn back on again so it searches. see if it picks up the network.
Failing that what IP is it showing u, if its assigned one??
Hello fellow diamond users!
First off I'm not new to XDA's and WM6, I've had two XDAs before and have always browsed these forums for advise, although I've not been an active poster.
But now I'm stumped. I just cannot get my O2 Ignito to connect to any secured wireless network (unsecured is fine!)
I've even just done a hard reset just to be sure.
The phone can see the network, I'm trying to connect to a mixed mode (11b & 11g) wireless WPA/PSK (WPA+WPA2) but the phone simply refuses to connect! I've even double checked the settings on my old Wizard to be sure (which still connects fine!) and reset the key and checked this with an iPhone which connects fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I m not sure it can help u in this case, but give it try...
Go to Wireless LAN >> Power mode,
and change from Best Battery to Best Performance and try,
I had this problem once and I found that some routers don't know to support Power save mode
Tried that already still no joy.
This is really doing my head in now!
I think its router specific, as I've just connected to the wireless connection of the company downstairs...with there permission of course!
is DHCP or mac address filtering enabled?
Hi there!
I've the same problem. I've an "old" TYTN II working fine and a Diamond which doesn't support wpa-psk secured network. No MAC filtering, no DHCP, no nothing! Just doesn't connect. Sometimes it gets connected (after restart or when coming from sleep mode) but then i turn off wi-fi, turn on again, it founds the net but simply doesn't connect.
Does anybody has an idea?
THXS!
Hi guys!
I have a Touch Diamond 2. It's great and certainly an upgrade from my Touch Cruise!
I have a strange problem though. Whenever I try to connect through 3G (T-Mobile Netherlands), immediatly after it makes the connection, it gives the dialog 'cannot connect etc'. 3G is truly connected but no data is coming in.
Now I have found where the problem lies, sort of. 3G works fine when I don't configure my home Wifi connection. Whenever I configure that, 3G stops working. It doesn't matter if Wifi is turned on or off. 3G does have a dynamic ip, where my Wifi connection requires a static IP. But I make all these settings in the Wifi part of the configuration screen, the IP details are under the 802.11 b/g network card.
This used to work flawlessy on my Cruise. Anyone have a solution? Thanks!
good morning. as you are with tmobile i'd suggest you are having the same problems as me with tmobile uk. for some reason tmobile sets up a proxy server in your 3g data connection setup, this caused huge problems for me but clearing it solved them all.
try this first and see how you go.
Possible, but where exactly do I change the proxy settings of the 3G connection?

Hey that's a coincidence, just read the same question at GoT
I have similar problems.
Now and than my HSDPA connection works good, but at some moment I just can't reach any website.
Disconnecting and reconnecting to HSDPA sometimes helps, and sometimes I just have to wait a few minutes and than it works again.
I also tried another DNS (OpenDNS) but it doesn't solve the problem,
Proxy settings can be found at (I assume your dutch):
Instellingen> Meer> Verbindingen> Verbindingen> Mijn proxyserver instellen
At my TD2 is no proxy set, so thats not the cause.
Hope sombody else can help!
Do you have a static IP for WIFI as well? I kinda found out that setting WIFI on dynamic IP solves the 3G problem, so somehow they must be connected. But this should be able to work, it's almost as if 3G 'takes over' the static IP from the WIFI settings, but the connection settings from my 3G are offcourse set to dynamic.
I had exactly the same problem with my D2. I also had it on my Cruise with the later ROMs. The official HTC 6.1 ROM did not have this problem.
I experience it when I set up my wifi 802.11b/g network card in the phone to have a static IP address and set the default gateway. If I use DHCP there is no problem.
Setting the wifi card up on the phone DEFINITELY screws up the cellular data connection.

I use a dynamic IP, for me it doesn't work.
With my dear old Wizard (MDA Vario) I had no problem at all with the same settings!
yup thought i was the only one with this problem need a fix for it soon man otherwise we are gettin bumped for not havin the settings coz we on t-mobile
I solved it temporarily by setting Wifi to dynamic IP, but this prevents me from connecting at work. I'll send HTC an e-mail, let's see if they are willing to hot-fix this one
for me i find that the web sites work but any app that requires to go online ie facebook, msn, sky fire etc jus dont work wen you try to connect online......... stupid t-mobile
My connection problems are gone.
Maybe I (we) encountered hickups with the T-Mobile proxy-server....
maybe You can help me.
I have a MDA V (germany T-Mobile) and i can not connect to my AP here at Home.
I have a ASUS WL500g configured as AP behind my Firewall/Router. All other device in my house, a Laptop, a Netbook and a 'WII' working fine!
All get the IP from the Router, the AP works transparent.
D2 will not connect. The Mac-Address from the D2 is configured in the AP, and i can see the router statuspage and see the MAC of the D2 sometimes in the list. But only as "associated" and never as "associated authorized" as the Laptop here in example:
-------------------------------------------------
Stations List:
-------------
00:23:76:yy:xx:xx associated <-D2
00:1C:BF:yy:xx:xx associated authorized <- Laptop
--------------------------------------------------
I configured a lot in the settings, but i cant get the D2 online with wifi.
Can someone plz help a bit?

other question: if i manage the problem some day, is it possible to configure the Networksettings of the D2 device in the way that the device only use USB and te WiFI-Connection to access the internet? I hat it that the device use mobile-internet connection without asking me to do so.
Same problem

I was experiencing the same problem, only with the difference that I am using 3 different Wi-Fi adapter settings every day (for 3 different networks - two with fixed IP and one with DHCP enabled. Most elegant solution that I came up with was a small, but very handy application called "WiFi Profiles". Settings for WiFi adapter are easily changed by choosing a profile that you want to use and applying it. Before you disconnect from WiFi network, you just set adapter to DHCP, and after that your GPRS/3G/HSDPA connection works like a charm. By the way, I am proud owner of Touch HD but I am using Dutty`s Topaz based rom V3.4 XTREME SHIP.
I've googled, i've searched here and I just can't figure out why i cant find my wireless connection on my phone...it finds both of my neighbours connections but not mine...i'm lost here dudes...any help would be greatly appreciated
i've gone through the network settings on my home pc where my router is plugged into...everything is legit there...my ps3 and other computers find it no problem...had my buddy who got me my g1 to bring his over and see if he could figure it out...tried scanning for it and nothing...fml
does his g1 see your wifi?
na his doesn't find it either
check the b/g/n mode on your router is all i can think of.. if it's on "mixed" or n, then try specifying b or g and see if your g1 picks it up
i'll check that out...my other buddy brought over some LG android and his found it no problem
Change the security encryption of theWiFi,wpa /wpa 2psk.It should work.
I had this problem just today with my new router (Linksys WRT320N) and it wasn't picking it up because I wasn't broadcasting the signal.
Once I enabled the SSID broadcast it connected just fine.
Kind of weird because I never had it broadcasting on my old router (Linksys WRT54GL) and it would connect just fine.

you mean on my phone or on my pc?
still nada
by the way, I know it's elementary but did you try entering the SSID directly in Add New Network?
I came to visit my bro and sis in Miami and can not connect to either of their two wifi networks at their house. But yet I was able to connect to a TMobile hotspot, and a hotspot at Miami intl mall. I have no idea WTF gives! It's distressing me. Back home I was able to connect to various wifi's without a problem.
On the phone when I click to connect it only asks me for the WPA password. I know it's correct, since I'm able to connect to the two wifi networks with my TF300T. If I long press on the SSID nd select "Modify" - it only lets me change the passphrase and no other settings.
I'm on CM7 7.2.0.
Anyone have any ideas?
