As with many other users, my Tab suffers from very low volume & mediocre audio from its internal speaker specially when watching certain movies. Ive been looking for an app to control audio volume and EQ that works on the Galaxy and found an app called DSP Manager (current version 2.2).
It features a beautiful interface that is great on the Tab's 7" screen, installs without a problem but doesnt seem to have any effect when applying EQs or settings... the sound is always the same.
I was wondering if I could request to make this app fully functional on the Tab

Would be great that supercurio owns a Tab and develop the sound part as in the galaxy S.

I don't use this kernel (as I build my own), but I can vouch for Voodoo Sound

Hi there,
have somebody tried the DSP SoundManager? I extracted this one from the CyanogenMod ROM and get a little bit better sound...
May you want to try it! Maybe there is a forward developed version of this, so please post it!
Regards, Andi
I can't notice any difference. I had the speaker on hi then installed it pumped up the settings and it made no difference.

Same here ..
I'm new here and with no experience, but maybe we need rooted device to work?! It would be nice to hear navigation while driving..
I have a rooted device. But I don't hear any difference.
Moved to Themes and Apps
Cheers,

no way
Downloaded and installed no difference at all.
What I have to understand is why POWERAMP with its settings (equalizer set to loud speaker value) has a far better volume than the stock music player.
If we can get its way to do that an app like the one in this thread may work.
May be poweramp just modifies in realtime the mp3 values I don't know really we need to investigate.
Youtube for example has a very poor volume altough the copilot using SVOX TTS voices (with SVOX volume at 200) is good enough.
I think is just the kernel I don't understand why the quality is so bad with some features and so good with others....
hmm i just watched a video from htc. and the introduce a feature that the device recognize where it is, for example in your pocket or backpack and if you get a call it will raise the speaker volume...
but i dont know if its just to the maximum which probalby everybody has set or if you can go over this limit...
Here is working version of DSP manager.
its a start, but i think this workaround creates some other problems... for my self, i just increased the volume of my ringtone and it worked as well.
hopefully this dspmanager workaround gets updatet or even htc will take care of it...
one of the features i like the most in cm7 is DSP manager app. does someone knows a way how i could get it on other roms, or is there an app that provides the same settings?
Just copy /system/app/dspmanager.apk and /system/lib/soundfx/libcyanogendsp.so from CM and paste both at same path in new rom. I use it that way and it does work

I installed DSP Manager comes from CM7, and the dynamic range compression doesent work. Everything else works great...
My tracks sounds very good with dynamic range compression on CM7. Actually what is it doing? And how?
Nice bump

BUMP!, one of the features that keeps me in CM7 instead stock based roms... Stock based have alarm/stopwatch/timer/ in one place, divx official support and HDMI auto/1080p/720p/480p/etc... + I love colorized android settings
Any suggestion how to import these features (including full DPS with dynamic range that makes music sound awesome) that whould be great indeed.
any apk available?

I'm also trying to get dynamic range compression to work for DSP manager. I installed the .apk from CM7 on my Samsung Galaxy player YP-G70 running Gingerbread 2.3.5 and all DSP features work except Dynamic Range compression. Does anyone know if it needs to be flashed as a ROM to make it work? My device is rooted, however there is no support for it for CM7 yet. I get no responses to this question when I post on the Cyanogen forums, most likely because my Samsung device isn't supported and I'm being ignored.
Yes, yes I know, everybody hates Dynamic range compression, "It's destroying music" blah! blah! blah! But there are many times when it's needed, especially on small devices like android phones and PMP's. Listening to music, movies and video clips on these devices in noisy environments, or on small speakers can be difficult to hear the quieter passages of the content. then of course when the loud parts come in, they blast the speakers or headphones with distortion. I cant believe there aren't any Android apps out there to address this situation. Anybody know of one that maybe isn't on the android marketplace?
May be,
DRC feature of DSPManager is framework integrated. Check CM Vs stock ROM's framework

I tried it on the CM7 firmware and it didn't work any better than when I hacked it into the stock firmware. Specifically DRC, the rest worked fine except for the EQ which crashes (FC) on the stock firmware. Not sure why.
I m a Huge music lover and always search how to get better quality sound from my galaxy mini.. Can anyone suggest me any app or any kind of hack/tweak to improve audio quality?? I have tried the following apps:
Musicfx
equalizer
dsp manager
poweramp

Dsp Manager from CM7 works very well. Phone speaker it's much louder and the sound quality it's better. For headset there are multiple sound/effects settings, that makes sound quality best. At least for me it sounds nice.
guys.. i dnt want loud sound. i just want quality music. and i have tried dsp manager but it was not impressive for me.
I said sound quality is improved too, at least for me i see the difference. What you want more from this low budget device? You can't improve sound quality with some software more than your sound chipset supports. So, you can't get some crystal sound with just a software, i make the difference from stock ROM without DSP and CM7 with DSP and it's a noticeable change of sound. I think it's the best you can get.

Buddy cool down.. If u want to hear the best sound from this device then flash the andro-id rom and install dsp manager and musicfx simultaneously.. then try any non-stock music player which supports both dsp manager and musicfx. Then go in dsp manager settings and choose acoustic as its eq. and choose studio as its surround.. then open musicfx and drag the 3d sound effect to its max.. Then play any sound, u will notice that crystal clear sound. But still i want more.
hey can any one tell how to improve notification sound in stock rom 2.3.4 it have very low sms notification sound......

Yea.. m from Patna..
I have a name for people who say that S5570 has poor music quality - %@#^
I have use nokia XpressMusic 5130 earlier and X2 too. Sould quality with Froyo on 5570 was not very good, but 2.3.4 KPK + poweramp gave very good results - better than what I got on XM.
Yeah - Indian classical - shobha gurtru (!!!!) Bhimsen Joshi MS, Pt. Jasraj, etc. (Now, you will recoil from me, right?)
But on my phone, I need to ensure that the audio jack is not pushed in too deep. (No, I do not use the speaker for listening to music).

GT S5570 has better audio quality with stock GB rom than the Nokia phones I have used so far. (and the nokia ones were meant for music lovers).
But my audio jack (headset jack - the 3.5mm one) -- errr ... the socket for the jack on the phone ... has some problem - pushing the jack in too much means poor audio quality. Was cursing the phone for couple of weeks and was keeping silent because of the "5570 has bad music" kinda feed back on most forums. This, till one fine day I found that I should not push in the jack fully - leave 2 / 3 mm of its lentgh outside.
Am I the only facing this problem?
Use dspmaneger+musicfx+good Bluetooth headsets.
TRY THIS !!!
Using Root Explorer Navigate to /system/lib ..
There you will find a file named libaudioeffect_jni.so
Replace that file with the file attached below !
And set permissions to rw-r--r-- ..
REBOOT !
you wil get an bit improved quality in stock music player with ROCK preset !!
I FOUND THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM!
First I was using Gingerbread and i tried accessing the service mode
*#197328640#*
as i pressed audio [5] its not working..
So i changed to Froyo... ( Downgraded )
Upon clicking Audio selection i was able to change the settings under selection
number 5 which is the Audio.

Hello guys,
I just wanted to ask why there are no settings for voodoo sound (in-app) only volume.
I saw on other devices that you can adjust bass boost and more, am i doing something wrong? Or are these features only available in the premium version of the voodoo sound app?
Thanks in advance
Nope, functions on voodoo sounds are device specific, based on software/hardware limitationd. If its not in the free version, it will not be also in the premium version.
You can try volume+.. it works wonders too, can also increase speaker volume. But its a paid app.
but supercurio (voodo dev) is working on a new voodoo sound driver version which will enable even o2x to have full options of the voodoo sound greatness ! cant friggin wait
I also hope he'll do his magic. Haven't seen him on his topic for some time now...

Hello ! As you all know Sound quality has been terrible on our Z1 since Lollipop came out and Sony has done nothing to fix it so now i have gotten enough and i wanna do something about it myself. I have been reading lots about sound mods and have been comparing them with others but i cant seem to find good one to fit my purposes so i decided to ask here. Im not looking for stereo mod or anything speaker related or like that, i just wanna get the true power what it is capable to produce to my headset like on KK and to be able to adjust the equalization and bass etc like we used to before Walkm... i mean Music app sound enchantments stopped working.. i have XPhonePlus Module from XPosed to enable old audio modes but its currently broken or something since doesnt work...
So basicly im looking for audio mod that:
- Brings back the volume that we had in KK. (In LP its much lower volume.)
- Makes equalization working again. (After LP, had never worked, not in Music beta or the not beta one)
- Makes surround work again (--||--)
- As good bass without losing quality as possible
- Being able to keep the sound enchantments in other apps too not just music app
- Works on stock rom
- As stable as possible, im not really good updater.
- Needs to be able to change settings on the fly. (on LP sometimes equalizer settings take effect on reboot)
I know all my requirements arent necessary possible but just something that way !
I have Bluetooth headset and wired one and i use both so it needs to work on both. i listen mostly electronic so extra bass related mod is never a minus. Im not looking to change music app since i like it so that is not an option.
Im taking suggestions and im gonna pick the best one based on popularity and comments so please share your favourite mod here an i will check it out !
Also im a noobie so i might need instructions i have root ofc and nuts recovery and xposed. im on .270 5.0.2 LP
@migidid
I'm gonna try to answer :3
1. Edit your mixer_paths.xml, need root, there is also many guide in XDA
2. Equalizer works correctly, I don't know why you have such problem xD
3. Surround works too, but only when using headset/headphone.
4. This need headset/headphone with nice sound range too, you can +bass from stock Equalizer, I'm used Poweramp and Poweramp equalizer + Sony equalizer
5. Sony Sound Effect have a global effect for your speaker and also from another sound media too, but I don't know about surround effects (didn't try this so much) xD
EDIT: It's works on Poweramp, just tested it :3
EDIT2: It's not working on Poweramp, it's "blank" sound, sorry xD
EDIT3: Got a fix, must disable Direct Volume Control and enable MusicFX and you will get Surround Sound effect xD
6. I'm on Sony stock L ROM build .270, rooted
7. Nothing bads, if you know what are you doing xD
8. Sony Equalizer no need reboot to take effect, it's immediate :3
I don't like use Viper or another Sound Mod like that, it's useless (for me), since Sony already have in build Sound Effect. I'm only used nice headphone (not high res), modified mixer_paths.xml and Poweramp. :3
