Which ROM would you currently use - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Hello,
so just to see in 2011 what people are using!

I am using HoboMod and I like it very much.
-You seem to forgot to include IceAndFire ROM

New FroyoMod seems to be the best choice for now.

CM7

OK, in 10 days someone else can do a new poll! As ROM's change so fast, that every month there a new best one!

I believe Shadowmod BR Gingerbread is the fastest amongst all. A lot faster than CM7

i didnt try that yet. Do you have any random reboots?

I'm relatively new to the Milestone, and CM7 is the first custom ROM I've tried. For something labeled "alpha/preview" it's remarkably stable, and I've had very few problems with it.

I'm using Froyo 2.4.0C, I like it very much but had some random reboots lately. So I'm planing on uprading to 2.5 or going to CM7.

CM7 and I like it

id say froyomod the fastest and stable...

CM7 nightlies #40

Cyanogenmod 7 but its for now too buggy. im waiting 1-2 months.

MIUI of course, I just cant live without all of it additions like the mp3 player and so on.

I'm testing now Cronos Ginger 1.0.0 (CM7) , it's pretty fast.

I'm using FroyoMod. It's the only one I actually tried and I fell in love with it!
(actually that's not true... I tried MIUI too, but I just didn't like it)

Shadow MOD BR - 2.3.2 beta 7
OC: 125x900 - undervolt
Governor: Smartass

No reboots experienced. I overclocked to 800/500/250/125 with vsels 52/49/40/32.
Sometimes(very rarely) the phone freezes for few seconds...but it comes around very quick right away...
Anyways Shadowmod Br Gingerbread b3 is extremely fast...lot faster than the others...and I always have 70-80mb RAM free...

[Q] I need a fast, stable ROM, can I have suggestions?

I've grown to hate my G1 over the last few days (got an iPad [don't be hatin'] a few days ago and my dad got a G2 today) because it's so incredibly slow. But, due to the iPad I now only use it for calls, texts and tethering.
Can anyone suggest me a fast, stable ROM to hold me over 'till I get the G2? Donut or later is preferred.

pretty fast pretty stable pretty good battery
only things i miss:
titanium backup support
new(est) apps/games
Checkout Super D and E. Also Chromatic 3.9 is pretty cool.

The ones that I've enjoyed the most are Dwang's donut rom (not SuperD)
NonSense Cupcake
Super E for Eclair
Didn't like any froyo roms, they couldn't keep dialer in memory
But if all you're looking for is speed and stability, then here's the rom I'd recommend.

Simply, stock Android 1.6. I always get back to this, this is my home ROM, my favourite. I just jump to other from it, but always come back. Speed, stability and great battery life (2 days isn't a problem).
i would say cyanogen 6 is fast, stable and excellent on battery life
Super froyo

how do you handle apps on it. as there is no apps2sd
i agree that stock is fast and stable. but 7xmb is too few for apps isnt it? i need about 150-200mb of my ext partition..
Best suggestion find someone who can make a rom for ya ^^ get them to add apps2sd to a stock rom and minor modifications including UV kernel and you have one of the longest lasting rom's and very stable plus a tiny bit faster than stock so win win win also by minor modifications I meant very minor as too keep fully stable you can always use the rom kitchen I keep hearing about lol if you don't wanna ask someone to make one for ya ^^

Which ROM you think is the best and you are using it?

Hello,
i took the ROMS that are currently on the 1st page... I know there are plenty more, but i wanted to use the ones on the first page of this forum....
I used GOT and was pretty happy, used CM and was even more, and then MIUI, but i think i will go back to CM...
Since yesterday I use the CyanogenMod and just wondering why I was with GOT's all this time.. CM is the best. As simple as that.

Froyomod isn't that stable, at least in my case.
CM for Milestone by nadlabak is still the best.
weird, for me any roms beside Froyomod will have that freaking annoying random reboot issue.
FroyoMod having best battery use time
With the latest CM - i never had even 1 reboot... It's probably the smoothest version of a phone i had since my Nokia 6210 back in 2000... (kidding...)
Its definitely the smoothest version i had on my Milestone, and actually no problems whatsoever. First time no reboots at all on my phone..

This.
With CM I just got 48 hours of use on one-charge this weekend, and not a single force-close or crash. Cannot say the same about the other Froyo-Mods
i like miui the best, its very smooth and has the best design and awesome battery life!
i unpluuged it at 6:15 am and now at 4:30 pm i still have 70% battery, and i played 45 minutes angry birds, doodle jump and pocket legends and surfed around the web for at least half an hour, i was writing several sms and phoned some people!
and in my opinion it has the best usability with the integrated battery saver and the smartass governor!
I have tried most of the roms and have concluded that ultimate droid is the most responsive smoothest and the best battery life with the built in over clocking

the rom is only for the Motorola Droid but not for our milestone.. he must accidently picked milestone android developing instead of droid android developing
Telus lite V5... its not up there, but in my experience its blown everything else out of the water.
until now, 2.2.1 still not stable so I decided to use 2.1 and TelusliteV5 is best choice. Smoothest and great battery life.
Cyanogen has rapid development and code is verified which should give best quality but after testing FroyoMod I voted for it because I don't have any issue at this point and it is smoothest rom of all that I have used no mater that it was stock or mod rom.
Foryo has lots of cyanogen goodness and ads its own like crystal talk, gallery 2d
Cyanogen here. Most complete and customisable rom imo. Very fast. Very stable. Rapidly updated to fix bugs as discovered.
Actually I own an evo and you can just google ultimate droid forums and u can find the website you have to register to download it but it is worth the time I promise you

For now, i'm using the ShadowMod BR.
A rom developed by a guy in my country (Brazil). The project is very good. There's no issues and everything works. I don't know about CM rom's but this rom is very fast and stable. And have all languages support.
So, if somebody want's to try just search on google for ShadowMod BR
ill say chronos rom its what ive been useing and i liek it very fast and stable
I use miui with launcher pro as i get all the setting and apps from miui can add themes
icons etc and still have very stable phone with good battery life

[Q] CM7 RC2 or CM6.1.2

hey frnds .. i jus need a vote on which is better for r milestones .. in terms of performance stability and all tht jazz
CM7 RC2 or CM6.1.2 ?
CM7 RC2 Is amazing.
I think that CM6 is more stable than CM7 and have a more free ram memory. But CM7 is almost 2.3.3 ... and it's works pretty well.

Easier to setup on a different phone, if you use more than one.
i also find the whole thikng more stable since 2 releases ago.
I never had major issues with cm6, but cm7 just flies.
Forget the crap about lower ram, etc. My phone feels snappier. But i dont play games...

I am on CM6 currently.... in it had been quite stable..been using the rom for almost a month now and could not find a better rom that cm6 in terms of stability(ignoring the long pause that require you to press sleep button and then unlock back to continue issue).
I had not tried cm7(although tried it once). just wondering can cm7 match the stability that cm6 provide?
the Cm7 and Cm6 have still the same bugs as the official 2.2.1.
-some apps are not working
and also they both are even more unstable.
If you want a stable Phone the only way right now is 2.1 official.
I have tested cm7 and cm6 and returned back to 2.1 since, the phone chrashes to often.
erm....

CM7 to CM6 to correct "the wonk"?

Hello,
I have only had my N1 a few days and I am experiencing what I believe people refer to as "the wonk". What I am looking for is the most stable, rooted rom out there that has no such issues. I just want everything to work.
Should I downgrade back to CM6?
If I downgrade, do I have to change radios and/or HBOOT? I have upgraded these to the latest available.
Thanks for the info.
-D
Stable rom is cm6.1.1. I'm using that while cm7 tries to get stable and free of wonks.
Wonks only affect cm7.

Also note that the mic delays on incoming calls are a known gb issue and are not specific to cm as it is inherent in the stock Ota rom as well.
Thanks guys. I just noticed that this is in the incorrect forum. My apologies.

Why not just use DeWonkifier?
In my opinion, the "dewonkifier" is a band-aide and not a fix. I would prefer the phone have as clean and bug free code as possible.
I'll install CM7 when the wonk issues are corrected.
The gingerbread base doesnt offer enough for me to sacrifice usability of my phone.
I am disappointed that I upgraded from an Aria to an N1 and have to downgrade the software. I expected the N1 to have everything work perfectly since its the original flagship phone for Google.

Well the only thing holding back your nexus is you!. For my nexus the only bug is the 2 second delay and I can live with that. Dewonkificator ftw
Btw, CM7 is available for your aria too.
Cyan 6.1 is super stable and smooth, and fast. Its also much more feature complete right now over cyan 7. They are still bringing all the features over to 2.3. So its a very good experience using cyan 6 right now.

i find cyan 6 smoother though. my quadrant scores dropped a good bit on cyan 7, but also things scroll laggy like tapatalk threads, certain long lists, handcent threads, etc. these were smooth in froyo. though i agree launcher pro homescreens are buttery smooth on cyan 7. its just other things arent for me.

Just bought a droid.

I just bought a droid to mess with when I'm board of my thunderbolt. I'm really excited about the phone because for about 8 months I've really been missing my G2. I know I that I probably wont permanently leave my tbolt for the droid but at least ill have a keyboard again whenever I want it. What smooth roms are there for the droid? I really want to run CM7 or maybe miui. CM7 working nicely on the droid?

If a Droid as twice the RAM a Milestone have so you will have much fun with any GB-ROM.
Because you have the same smal RAM like a Milestone, then you will have a App-Kicking Mono-Task ROM with any GB.
The fastest and smoothest ROM is Eclair (Stock) following by a Froyo based MOD.

For droid if u want gb use liquid gb or project elite they b oth have their cons and pros and a overclock kernel would be good like chevys ULV kernels to save battery if they work and make sure u use supercharged v6 script it helps it run realy smooth and use rzrecovery for recovery and make sure you back up before you so anything you have any other question just ask

Had my droid for almost two years. Been through MANY roms. Standard CM7 is a little too buggy for my liking. And liquid ginger has a bunch of call bugs.
I am LOVING Chevyno1's simply stunning 2.3.4 rom right now. No FC'S or bugs so far. Very stable.
Also running his LV 1000 kernel. But running it at only 800. I've noticed that anything over 800 mhz and the Droid becomes a handwarmer. Plus I've noticed no additional output in performance either.
Lastly yes, absolutely run V6 supercharger. It will make a very snappy phone for ya.
Pm me if you have any questions!

Awesome phone. I've used many ROMs over the past two years but Bugless and MIUI are my favorites.
Peter Alfonso has a pretty good AOSP Gingerbread ROM that I'm currently running in tandem with Chevy's low-voltage 1GHz kernel. It's basically a stock ROM with a few minor modifications. GPA16 is good, and GPA17 is currently in open beta but I use it as my daily driver without issue.
I tried CyanogenMod7 on my (now on warranty) Milestone, and I have to say.. CM7 is great, but, I really want a usable phone, the last days with my phone and CM7 I couldn't use the browser, after I tried to click on some link of google search, the browser close.. And if this happen on the browser, just imagine how was with other apps.
But, according to what I'm reading, CM7 RC14 is great.. Maybe when I have my phone back I'll try it, but for now I'll try FroyoMod.
BTW, Android 2.3/CM7 just bring to us 2 big things: SIP calls and be able to use Google Talk with voice and video, so, maybe is not a big enhancement.
Have tried both CM7 and MIUI, but sticking with CM7 for now.
And, here I'm with my new Milestone phone (changed by warranty)...
I decided to go with CyanogenMod 6 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155454). This is a really great ROM, and for my, 14 hours of charge using the phone is pretty good
