Hey community
So I have found myself in a position where I have to return a Verizon droid to either a stock 2.1 or stock 2.2 rom.
I spent a couple hours on this on Friday and ended up getting the same error in RSDlite regardless of the .sbf i was using. I did some search on the error code and couldn't really figure it out. Now its back to Monday and I am tackling this again.
Here is what I did and what happened.
I found thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-696845.html
which gave me directions on using RSDlite and .sbf files. I also read some tuts on unlockr which confirmed what i was reading here.
I downloaded the 4.5.3 version of RSDlite from here:
http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/a1200-applications/13457-rsdlite-download-here.html
and grabbed the 32bit drivers from the unlockr site:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/09/23/how-to-root-the-motorola-droid/
I grabbed the 2.1 and 2.2 .sbf files from this page:
http://and-developers.com/sbf:droid?s[]=a855
I also grabbed the 2.1 / telus / canada from:
http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone?s[]=a853
So i installed the drivers and RSDlite and began the process outlined in the first link listed above
My phone was identified by RSDlight however once selecting the .sbf file RSD displayed "Platform is not defined for CDMA_TYPE_MSM6800_CHIPSET."
The first .sbf i tried was the 2.2 from verizon. This was my ideal option to move back to. I listed other .sbf files because once this first one failed i just started poking around to see if i could get a different result.
Now that it was displaying the not defined platform I pressed "Start" in RSD to try to push the .sbf file.
This obviously failed and displayed the following message: "Failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve initialization values from INI file. (0x07029); phone connected. -
This is the same error which i got using the other .sbf files. which makes me think its something in my connection or settings that is causing it. I re=installed the drivers and RSDlite to no avail.
So I grabbed that error message and started Google and looking around online but I wasn't able to find anything in the time I had. which brings me to where we are now.
Does anyone know how to resolve the error I received and successfully flash a stock 2.2 rom to a model A855 droid.
Thank you for reading potentially helping....
Thanks Goat_For_Sale
flashed to stock from rom manager !! Your the man !!

I have been all over this place with my bionic. I have tried 901 and went back to 893 using saver and other methods. The tools seem to do the job. My problem is trying to install an update from verizon. It will download and get to the end of the install, but then I get stuck in a failed fastboot with cdt errors. I am able to fix that using the Fixcdt, but every time my phone reboots I have to force it out of fastboot and into normal startup.. I have searched high and low and have found little bits of info out there, but nothing that has nailed it. Does anybody have the answer that I am looking for?
Thanks for they help!
You won't be able to install it. Since you have the .901 cdt.bin on your phone, you will need that file with anything you load until you have the "soon to be official" .902.
To install the official Big Red OS (which is no different than the ones floating on here) you will need to be on 5.5.886. You will need to download it to your phone, then move that to your PC, unzip, replace the cdt.bin file with the .901 file, then Fastboot it with RSD Lite it. Then you will have the .893.
Or you can download the .902 file and flash it in recovery OR you can wait a few days until it is OFFICIALLY pushed to your phone.
I believe this to be correct, but there are more knowledgeable people on the forum that may give you an answer you prefer.
Hi all, I searched and searched again here and almost everywhere on the net, here's my problem, i hope someone can help.
Bought a droid3 which came with 5.8.25 XT861.ACG.en.US system version, then ('cause i'm a noob) I rooted and tried flashing 5.6.890 following the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278056
Of course it didn't flash with any RSDlite version i tried, it always gave error and stopped on 6th step flashing cdt.bin, now every time i boot it tells me about the flash failure and can't boot but pressing volup+voldown and power.
Here's the question, i saw no 5.8.25 sbf anywhere, is there any other way to get rid of that annoying screen which remembers me everytime about how noob I am? :crying:
Seriously guys, sorry about this up but i need some help, i heard that all i have to do is flash anything correctly, is there something i can flash on 5.8.25 XT861.ACG.en.US to get rid of that annoying message?
Everything would be good but i have to do it from RSDLite and i didn't find any help about what i can or cannot flash
EDIT: Nevermind, I just got a way out, i deleted everything from cdt.bin in the .xml of an sbf and then it flashed only mbmloader and mbm, so.. correct flashing=no error message.
Maybe this could turn useful for someone else.
Hello,
I'm a big newbie to all this so please reply in kind
I installed safestrap 3.11 and have Blurry 4.3.1 Non-OC ROM installed. My phone has recently started locking up constantly so I thought it might be the ROM. I wanted to go back to a factory version but wasn't sure which version I could go to. I've read how once you go to JB, you can't go back to ICS without bricking (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Anyways, so I was thinking of going to Blur_Version.98.72.22.XT875.Verizon.en.US and was following directions listed in this forum post androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/480176-how-flash-5-9-905-gb-6-7-246-ics-98-72-22-jb-rsdlite.html but RSD wasn't recognizing my droid. I tried several cables including the moto cable.
Anyways, I'm not sure what to do. Would appreciate any help/assistance I can get.
Update
Ok, I got RSD lite to recognize device, but it gives me a status of "Failed flashing process. 5/24 oem fb_mode_set -> Phone returned FAIL."
What do I do now? Do I have to uninstall safestrap before I do this (or something else)?

Recently I bought the Moto X, coming from a Droid Razr. So far, loving the phone.
I updated the phone to 4.4 ( mistake in hinesight ) and now my goal is to restore the 4.2.2 firmware and try to gain Root access. The only problem is that my laptop is running Ubuntu. Main computer has Windows on it and this wouldnt be a hussle, but i'm out of town ATM. I have tried several methods, all with no luck. Even tried to Run WIndows 7 in a VirtualBox and try to use RSDLite. - No Dice
Along my stuggles, I noticed something, and I need an answer. Usually when using RSDLite, you load up a .sbf file to flash over. I downloaded the 4.2.2 image file and extracted the folder, but theres no .sbf file. Couple .bin files, and couple .img files. Where is the .sbf file?
TLR - Two Questions ---
Where / Is there a Moto X 4.2.2 .sbf file -and-
Best way to restore 4.2.2 on the Moto X using Linux / Ubuntu?
Thanks in advance!
First post has the sbf files and I would wait until you're back in town.
I got a bionic that had an update to ics done, however they totally screwed it up and now the phone won't get past the boot screen before shutting down and repeating. Sometimes It'll go the setup screen, but each time it crashes again.
I hit the down key and power button to get into that master menu and tried all the options there but still nothing. I was reading that I actually need gingerbread downloaded to an sd card then go into the master menu and open it from there.
The problem is I can't seem to locate the files I need to do this. Can you guys please help me? I'd hate to have to sell this on ebay, since it's only worth about 15 bucks there. It's otherwise in mint condition.
Thanks.
.If you try to load gingerbread, your phone will be bricked permanently. You can only load current i.e. ics(no leaked versions)or jb. You can not downgrade. Look for FXZ file for either one and load it with rsdlite.
*6.7.246 FXZ Link**(To be used with RSD Lite
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5O5JKRZTsGjRXNMN3lLMHoyVkk/preview?pli=1 This is ics version. If the file doesn't get downloaded as a zip file then something is wrong.

You will have to install bionic drivers and rsdlite on a pc.
