I've had my phone rooted and flashed with all sorts of different ROMs over the last several months, and it breaks for days every once in a while, so I'm looking to revert back to stock 2.1 with htc sense (or without I suppose).
However, I never made a backup for Nandroid, and I was wondering if someone could tell me how to reinstall HTC Sense UI.
Please please please please respond, I am without a phone. D:
Everything you'll need for this can be found here:
http://www.htc.com/us/support/hero-sprint/downloads/
what rom are you running? Does your phone boot to recovery? The reason I ask is because the above post will only help you if you are running a sense rom and can run htc sync. I had a promblem like this before and took me 3 days straight tooo fix. I figure I'd help you out and save you some time. If you can boot the rom and its a sense just do what the above post says and download the ruu and install via htc sync. But if you cant boot the rom or your running a froyo rom pm me I'll help you out.
I previously had the hero rooted to Android 2.2 and now have a new phone. Now here comes the funny part...my mother wants my hero since I don't use it anymore. So I was wondering how I could put back the sprint's official 2.1 release because the phone being rooted won't let the "sprint guys" change phone numbers for my mom lol. Thanks in advance!
try to find a stock rom or i'm not sure if fresh lets you do it.....

i guess try this one.....
you could flash liquid sense or any sense rom (other than froyo sense) to activate, if you want to get rid of root all together go here and get the RUU for the 2.1 update and flash that from the bootloader

Go to sprints website HERE to download the RUU
Run it, go through the steps and it will return your phone completely back to 2.1 stock
nvm I was beaten to it
I'm pretty new to this stuff so i went for the easiest and fastest way to root, the universal android root.
I tried it and it wont root it. Ive been reading and im guessing its because my hero is at the newest update.
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Software number: 2.32.651.2
any solutions? or other legit methods?
pm me or post
anything helps
thanks
That version has been rootable for a long time. There is a method here. Can't link since I'm mobile, but the intro threads should have directions in them; or the Wiki for that matter.
Check them out! They're full of good info.
This solution is reported to work for 2.32.651.2:
One click Root APK for CDMA Hero
Search for super one click. I use it on mine when I want to start fresh. It works on the newest update. But you do need windows sdk installed.
HELP! Im confused..Sprint Hero 2.1update
Ive been looking through these threads for a couple hours now and I cannot seem to find any of them that apply to my phone. I have a different build number and all of that. My phone is running super slow and about to bounce off a wall. I am looking to root but I have no clue what all I need to do with the different ROMS and everything to speed it up. Any ideas everyone?
Sprint Hero
baseband version 2.42.02.10.29
Build number 2.32.651.2 CL282911 release-keys
Software Number 2.32.651.2
Any Ideas would be GREAT!!! Thanks
I am having the same issue. I did get it rooted with SuperOneClickv1.7-shortfuse.zip file. However, I'm not sure where to go from here. This is a lot more complicated than it was to root and upgrade my Moment to Froyo. I'm now working on my husband's HTC Hero CDMA build number is 2.32.651.2, Sprint release Android 2.1-1 update. I want to do a nandroid backup from what I understand (no clue how to do this!) and then flash a 2.2 or even 2.3 custom ROM to the phone after wiping some files? I have this process down on the Moment, but the Hero is completely different and I'm lost.
I have ASTRO file manager installed and under apps after using the SuperOneClick, I do see SuperUser. I was thinking I wanted to update to the CM 6.1 ROM for now, until the newer systems are completely stable and up-to-date... but I have no clue where to go from here as most directions I've found don't apply to this build. Since I'm 6 months pregnant and off of work until after baby gets here, I have most of the day to tinker with it, when not chasing a rowdy 3.5 year old around the house. Just need some guidance.

You need a custom recovery installed to nand and flash. Rom manager is the easiest way to install recovery. Once you have that, backup, wipe data, cache, and dalvik, install rom zip just like on the moment. Also to get to recovery, hold down home then power.

I'll try that this evening when my husband comes home with his cell. I have a recovery file on the SD that I put there via Windows (recovery-RA-heroc-v1.2.3). Is this a good one to use? I'll download ROM manager onto the phone this evening and go from there. Or, if updating to CM 6.1 should I just flash that with the ROM manager?

That's an older version. You can flash that way. I prefer to go into recovery to flash. Better luck that way for me. At least you don't have to run the updater to have factory to flash like the moment. You do need to nand restore to a sense rom to update profile and PRL though, and then nand back to CM.
CM has a great guide on their wiki... http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=HTC_Desire_(CDMA):_Full_Update_Guide
Long story short, I was trying to install Cyanogenmod onto my phone and I ended up bricking it (Tried reinstalling both the official release of Cyanogen and Nightly. I get pass installation from Clockwork Recovery, but once I reboot, my phone just keeps on looping at the loading screen), and none of my backups made from ROM Manager work because everytime I try to use one, it gives me an error that it cannot access /system. Pretty much all I'm asking for is if anyone has an original HTC Sense Froyo backup ROM they can upload and send to me? If you have Dropbox and want to do it via that, I'm fine with that too.
Thanks in advance, the only other way I see out of my situation right now is buying another phone so I would rather not have to do that
If you go to the shipped rom sticky in the development section they have all the orignal froyo roms.

Need some serious help. I had a Hero that I had rooted a long time ago. Loved the phone, but bought the Nexus s4g. The hero was lying in a drawer at home. The last ROM was AOSP 2.1 or something or other.
I decided to give the phone to a friend the other day and went to put a fresh ROM on it. I started with Zero Hero RC1 ROM and it was a hog on my Hero. Would barely do anything it was so slow. Then I put Gingerbread Hero Deck and now I have Sense WildHeroc RC#.
The problem I am having with all of these ROMS is that I can’t get data connectivity without WIFI.
I can use the phone just fine for calls, when I am in range of WIFI signal I can surf the net or market or anything else. But I cannot get data connectivity without WIFI.
Any ideas? I didn’t have this problem when I was using the phone. It just started with the last round of ROMS.
Dying for some help with this.
Thanks in advance.
Flash to a sense ROM like liquid sense or nfx if u dont have a backup of ur original ROM right after u rooted.
From the sense ROM call sprint and get it going .... since ur there update ur PRL and baseband too(or just make they are up to date)
Once u get it going make a backup for future reference. BTW... ur old backups, the ones b4 this newest one, have ur info on it so they may not work without changing accounts once u flash back to it.
Anyhow once it works and ur backed up, do a fresh install and u should be good to give it back to ur friend.
Update ur recovery also before u flash any newer ROMs like zero or wildhero.... both ROMs are sense style and have not fully ironed out the kinks... but they do rock if ur a "sense" person.
Good luck and God bless
