Is there any chance of streaming files from a pc on the diamond? Does the wireless work at all like mapsharing in windows between computers.
Hi everyone,
I am having trouble getting my AT&T Tilt (official AT&T WM 6.1 ROM) connected to my Windows Media server at home. This server is setup to stream from a tuner card so that I can watch cable TV wherever I'm at. I had a T-Mobile Dash (unlocked with the same SIM used in the Tilt) before the Tilt and it was able to connect to the streaming server fine over it's EDGE connection so I know streaming works and all the ports are forwarded correctly to my streaming server. I am also able to view the video stream on my Tilt if I connect to my home wireless. It just doesn't work when connected to the 3G connection.
I get:
"Cannot perform the requested action at this time"
I have tried connecting to mms://myipaddress/tv, http://myipddress/tv, and rtsp://myipaddress/tv and all give the same error. If I connect to my home wireless LAN though I can stream just fine. I have also tried the core media player and the HTC streaming player and both give different errors and won't allow me to stream. (both work if I'm on my home wireless though)
I'm at my wits end and am ready to go back to my Dash since it works (albeit slower though). I can surf the internet fine on the Tilt connected to 3G but it just won't stream.
Any thoughts?
Update
Here's some more information on the problem:
I reconfigured my streaming server to broadcast on port 80 (HTTP streaming) and I finally got CorePlayer to work (albeit really choppy). Windows Media Player and the HTC Streaming Media player still give individual errors each. Windows Media Player connects, attempts to buffer, and never gets past 0%. It eventually times out and says "Cannot perform the requested action at this time." HTC Streaming Media player just says "Media file type not supported".
The weird thing is if I connect using 802.11 wireless (on the same subnet and LAN as the streaming server) I can stream successfully with Windows Media Player. It just doesn't want to stream when using 3G.
The phone is unlocked using AT&T mMode (I'm an old AT&T blue customer) and internet connectivity works just fine.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi everyone..
I am looking for software that will allow me to access my PC's USB webcam and stream images to the phone... If possible, also stream the audio of the room.
I would be connecting the phone via WiFi to either the same network or a diffrent network.. I want to use it as sort of a home security measure.. I have no problem if I have to install some software on my computer as well... I am running Windows 7 on my computer... Thanks in advance..
Is there any possible way/app/trick to stream avi/mpg/divx/wmv media based on a desktop computer/NAS/UPnP device to the HD7? I tired some apps but none of them able to play/stream the movie on the hd7 device screen itself.. any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Hi,
I have to buy a new wifi router and I think I will buy the TP-Link TL-WDR3600 router.
The router have 2 usb ports.
I want to know if is possible to play movies stored in extenal hd pluged in usb router with chromecast.
Today I used PLEX to play movies from my PC, but I didnt see any option to configure a external hd pluged in a router.
thanks!
Yes, you can. First add the device to the list of devices your computer can see. Then, right click on either the drive or one of the Shared folders within it and give it a drive letter (like Z)... I believe this was called mapping a drive letter.
I have a Western Digital plugged in at home on Ethernet and it works just dandy. I don't know exactly how your router will show network storage drives connected via USB, but I'm gonna guess it's similar.
but, if I do that my PC need to be connected, right?
i want to acess movies in external hd without need any pc, using only plex (or another app), router and TV.

Plex won't work without something to run the Plex Media Server.
But it looks like the router has options to share attached storage via Samba(SMB), FTP and as a Media Server (presumably native DLNA), so you should be able to use any casting app which can act as a DLNA receiver or can access SMB shares. Localcast and BubbleUPnP spring to mind. You are likely to be limited to casting media that is already in a Chromecast native format though.
