nook app not working? - Nook Color General

Im running the 1.1.0 rom and have installed the nook app from the market. I've tried running the app but nothing happens. Any reason why?

Have you successfully logged into gtalk? That seems to solve the issue for folks.

Yes my gtalk is logged in. All my google apps work.

I'm confused. Why are you running the Nook app instead of just using the stock reader?

beats me man, sorry.

It's a known issue. Use Titanium backup to clear cache for YouTube app and it should run fine until you put nook to sleep. Or install different YouTube.apk, but I don't know which one, sorry.

This should help.
For how long this fix will work? My concern is "it should run fine until you put nook to sleep" from MK[PCTF] at previous post.

Don't worry about that... I did it once about 2 weeks ago and never had to repeat it. I guess it is safe to call it a "permanent" fix

Thanks, bro
This didn't work for me. But long before I did sign in youtube with a wrong account ******@youtube.com, and every 5 minutes get a google sign-in fail asking for password but can't do anything about it. So I tried the wrong thing, uninstalling a installing a diferent apk. So learn from me.
Can this be fixed through ADB by pushing an app to system/app? if so how, I'v been eyeing this thread --->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910008 , but I don't feel very conformable with commands, I don't want to mess my nook up.
Just look on the forums youtube.apk uninstall your current version, copy the apk to your memory and install it using some file browser. It worked for me
I already tried, with 3 different: app installer, ES file explorer & Astro. No luck, thanks though

[Q] Issue with Marketplace - Google Talk unable to Authenticate

Hello,
I'm running into an issue with my rooted NookColor. I ran AutoNooter last night, no problems there. Now that I've bound my Google account to YouTube, I can sync GMail with no problems. The issues start when I try to go to the marketplace and download an app. I select the app, and on the downloads screen it hangs at Starting Download. If I go to the Google Talk app, it tries to login, and then after a few minutes I get a notification that Authentication has failed.
Any ideas?
I'm having the same problems with the Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 room... Any ideas?
This worked for me:
Go to settings/applications/manage application (choose all). Scroll to google services framework, press on it and select clear data/force stop. Then go to market and clear cache. Reboot, all should be well.

It should be under your android settings on your NC. The location of the android settings may vary, depending on the ROM you have...

If you are seeing "Super Manager(battery,SD etc)" by "ipop", that is not the real Super Manager.
I don't see Super Manager on my Froyo SD Nook either. But I see it as number one search result (Super Manager by Gpc) on my phone.
I don't have confidence these Market fixes are 100% complete. It seems to help with some apps, but I still seem to be missing a lot of stuff (had to download Firefox last night on my phone and copy to my Nook because it doesn't show up either).
yes, you're right the gpc one is what i was looking for.
i too see it in my phone. i have copied my phone's build.prop fingerprint to NC, but still no luck.
sigh, the app itself is no big deal, i just want to understand how market can tell if my device is eligible for an app.

Try using App Brain. I was able to get it through there (although I don't think it showed up in the regular market)
thanks, i do see it in appbrain, but whenever i click perform install, it redirected to market and then ended up with a msg "requested item is not found."

the easiest thing i found was backing up my apps using appmonster on my phone - then uploading them to my dropbox account- then installing them from my dropbox to my nook.
this of course only works with apps on your phone that you backed up; and it really is kind of a hassle if you are searching for new apps.

[Q] Nook Color can't run certain apps that shouldn't require cell network, but do?

I don't know if this is a problem related to the recent patch for ROM Manager, but I upgraded that app and it didn't fix it, so...
Anyway, I have two apps giving me fits right now:
Amazon's new MP3 Cloud player for Android, and "Good (for Enterprise)", which is a corporate email reader.
Both apps complain that my cell network isn't enabled. Both apps should work find over WiFi, and they are communicating with their servers in some capacity, because they are able to tell the difference between a valid login and an invalid one. But once I enter a valid login, they both complain that I need to enable my cell network.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm on WiFi, and I can connect to Amazon's web page fine. But when I login to the app using my amazon account, it complains about not being connected to a cell network. Why would it care if I'm on wifi?
Do you have the phone.apk telephony.apk and mms.apk renamed or removed by chance? The app could just be looking for those.
Ahhhhh, I see...
You mean like this thread?

Running Phiremod 5.3, no probs with Amazon MP3 Cloudplayer or Amazon Appstore.

I haven't done anything like this on purpose. I'm running the stock ROM with eclair and rooted via autonooter. Can I check for them using a file manager or ADB?
Ran into the same problem when I tried running the Yelp app on my Nook Color. Kept crashing on the install. After passing emails and logs back and forth with Yelp it turns out it crashing when it's looking for a phone, even though I'm on wifi.
He said they'd fix it in the next major release.

Twitter notification not working

I'm using a non-rooted Nook HD and I have Twitter installed and up to date. In previous versions I have been able to receive notifications on my status bar, but it doesn't work anymore. My sister has the Nook HD as well, but her notifications work. I've made sure notifications have been turned on within the Nook settings AND the app itself.

Reinstall the app and reboot the nook. See if that helps.

When you reinstalled, did you uninstall first to clear out old data?

I uninstalled it by holding the app until the uninstall message came up, so yes I uninstalled it first
yeah so I looked into it and discovered that Android tablets aren't compatible with push notifications right now. Which is weird since in the past it had worked. Whatever, thanks for the help!
Use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handmark.tweetcaster. Works great on the Nook.

No, their official online page just says this:
Enabling notifications on Kindle Fire or other tablet?
Notifications are not push compatible on tablets even if Twitter for Android is installed.
The notification setting relies on the sync setting and sync Interval to determine when the app pulls for new mentions, favorites, retweets, new followers, direct messages, or Tweets.
Notifications will only appear when the device is active; no notifications appear when the device's screen turns off or goes to standby, but will appear in the status bar once the device is activated.
Use https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rk.tweetcaster. Works great on the Nook.

I'll give it a try! Thanks!
