[Q] Issue with Marketplace - Google Talk unable to Authenticate - Nook Color General

Hello,
I'm running into an issue with my rooted NookColor. I ran AutoNooter last night, no problems there. Now that I've bound my Google account to YouTube, I can sync GMail with no problems. The issues start when I try to go to the marketplace and download an app. I select the app, and on the downloads screen it hangs at Starting Download. If I go to the Google Talk app, it tries to login, and then after a few minutes I get a notification that Authentication has failed.
Any ideas?

I'm having the same problems with the Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 room... Any ideas?

This worked for me:
Go to settings/applications/manage application (choose all). Scroll to google services framework, press on it and select clear data/force stop. Then go to market and clear cache. Reboot, all should be well.

It's a known issue. Use Titanium backup to clear cache for YouTube app and it should run fine until you put nook to sleep. Or install different YouTube.apk, but I don't know which one, sorry.

For how long this fix will work? My concern is "it should run fine until you put nook to sleep" from MK[PCTF] at previous post.

Don't worry about that... I did it once about 2 weeks ago and never had to repeat it. I guess it is safe to call it a "permanent" fix

Thanks, bro
This didn't work for me. But long before I did sign in youtube with a wrong account ******@youtube.com, and every 5 minutes get a google sign-in fail asking for password but can't do anything about it. So I tried the wrong thing, uninstalling a installing a diferent apk. So learn from me.
Can this be fixed through ADB by pushing an app to system/app? if so how, I'v been eyeing this thread --->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910008 , but I don't feel very conformable with commands, I don't want to mess my nook up.
Just look on the forums youtube.apk uninstall your current version, copy the apk to your memory and install it using some file browser. It worked for me
I already tried, with 3 different: app installer, ES file explorer & Astro. No luck, thanks though

[Q] Nook Color can't run certain apps that shouldn't require cell network, but do?

I don't know if this is a problem related to the recent patch for ROM Manager, but I upgraded that app and it didn't fix it, so...
Anyway, I have two apps giving me fits right now:
Amazon's new MP3 Cloud player for Android, and "Good (for Enterprise)", which is a corporate email reader.
Both apps complain that my cell network isn't enabled. Both apps should work find over WiFi, and they are communicating with their servers in some capacity, because they are able to tell the difference between a valid login and an invalid one. But once I enter a valid login, they both complain that I need to enable my cell network.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm on WiFi, and I can connect to Amazon's web page fine. But when I login to the app using my amazon account, it complains about not being connected to a cell network. Why would it care if I'm on wifi?
Do you have the phone.apk telephony.apk and mms.apk renamed or removed by chance? The app could just be looking for those.
Ahhhhh, I see...

I haven't done anything like this on purpose. I'm running the stock ROM with eclair and rooted via autonooter. Can I check for them using a file manager or ADB?
Ran into the same problem when I tried running the Yelp app on my Nook Color. Kept crashing on the install. After passing emails and logs back and forth with Yelp it turns out it crashing when it's looking for a phone, even though I'm on wifi.
He said they'd fix it in the next major release.

Market "fix" for my SGT Wifi version

i recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab wifi version and I tried doing a search for Yahoo Messenger in the Market but it doesn't give any result, says that 'no application found'.
but on my mini pro, Yahoo messenger shows up so i end up downloading it in my mini pro and transfer it via BT on my SGT.
any idea why it's not showing in SGT's Market? is there a way for me to be able to fix it?
I'm running Overcome 1.4.2 with Globe as my carrier and it shows up fine in the Market. Didn't see it on stock though.
i've heard of Overcome but i'm not sure if i can use that on my SGT since mine is the Wifi version.
here's what's going on with the Market that I have on my SGT Wifi version.
At first i thought that Yahoo Messenger is the only app that I can't find but unfortunately, I can't locate GO Launcher as well. It shows the Go Launcher themes but not the app itself.
So I'm assuming that there might also be other known apps that might not show. Is there a way to fix or patch the Market so that it would show the apps?
i've tried MarketEnabler, MoreLocale2 but it's a no go .. i've seen someone post a copy of Market here. if i overwrite the existing Market app, won't that cause a problem or will that fix the problem?
anyone?

found a temporary solution .. i've installed Amazon's AppStore, AppBrain and Applanet.
Appbrain relies on Market so that's really a no-go. Applanet works since it shows the files that I need, like, Yahoo Messenger for instance. It even shows the plug-in.

non-market apps are enabled but the apps that i've mentioned above are still missing.

Missing Download buttons!

I just installed CM7 on two NC's. I am seeing something strange in the Android App store. Some of the more common apps that I have used in the past like Astro, Facebook and others do not have a download button (or any button for that matter).
If someone can explain why and what I can do to resove this problem that would be great. A side note the NC's are using two diffrent gmail accounts.
Same and I'm using one gmail account. Also it looks like I've had a kinda old version of Facebook installed for a while (1.6.1) without marker stating there was a .2 or a .3 release. I uninstalled the app and that is how I found out about there being no download button. So it might of been a problem with some of the last nightlies as well

It's a problem with new market. Try uninstalling updates in the settings for the market.

I think it is because the new market is device sensitive, our devices show up as B&N nook colors, the market thinks we are running crippled e-readers and doesn't let us download all the cool ****.
Do what koopakid08, go to your application settings > manage applications, find the market and "uninstall updates"
New market looked crap anyway.

I followed what people said to do in this thread but when I try to edit the MarketUpdater.apk file name I get an error "Insuffecent Permissions". I'm really new to all of this I feel like I am missing some important part of this CM7 process. Any light on what I'm missing would be great!

What I did was rename MarketUpdater.apk to MarketUpdater.apk.bak by using linux on the sdcard that I'm booting cm7 off of. Not sure how to do it if you're running cm7 on the emmc.
With the help of a friend I found what I had to do so I am able to edit apps if CM7 is loaded on the emmc. I found this extremely useful so I will link the wiki that fixed my issue.

What did you fix? How?
I updated and also have no Download button. The panel that button should be on flashes white. When I uninstall updates, my old market comes back, but after I leave the market, the new one returns, with the download button. After I leave that market and return, functionality falls apart. The main page doesn't open correctly, Download button disappears, and frames become shaky. What's the deal???

LOL! But don't think I'm your new Market, to laugh at you: I'm one of the sufferers with not only download buttons being eaten by Green Dude, but also icons for previously downloaded apps missing. Mine are all free apps, but I can't imagine how people with disappearing paid apps could get refunds now.
Anyone to share his/her experiences with the best/fullest alternative apps marts? Thank you.

Wow. I was with you to the last step. Couldn't find "compatibility mode" in the old market or in the new.

I simply downloaded super manager from the market then renamed market updater..
1. Open super manager
2. Enable root function option
3. Use built in file explorer in super manger to find market updater.apk.(should be in system apps...)
4. Rename. I simply renamed (.bin instead of apk...)
This will preventing market from updating...
Hope this helps all....

Searched, seems that feature is available on MIUI only. No lucky with stock CM7.

"This item is not compatible with your device."

So I've tried to install a variety of different apps that I know are compatible with my device and all the google play store responds with is "This item is not compatible with your device." The most recent is nVidia TegraZone which should install considering it's a Tegra3 Device. Anybody else having this issue and/or found any fixes?
I've side loaded several apps like that which end up working fine. Basically, I download the app to a rooted phone, use titanium backup to backup the app, then download it to the N7 and enjoy.

Thanks. Worked very nicely.
I would really like it if I could just to some small hack to not have to worry about doing this though...
Anything that requires a camera permission is incompatible, including Grocery King which really annoys me as I use it for all of my shopping. Barcode Scanner, Google Goggles, etc...
Luckily LoseIt, calorie tracker, CAN use a camera but on my N7 it installed just fine just doesn't have the barcode scanning option. This is how apps should be written. For example, Google Goggles can be used on existing photos, or even photos taken with the camera hack from modoco.
In the past I've also have problems with apps that require Send/Read SMS, but I haven't noticed any of those yet.
What apps are you seeing incompatible?
For some reason the good Ameritrade one doesn't even show up in Play, but it side loaded fine for me. Had to side load Firefox as well.

I have App Backup & Restore automatically backing up the APK's from everything I installed on my Sensation. So I downloaded those, uploaded to the Nexus and installed OK. The only one I haven't made work is Dropbox.
They should just say, "App shows as being partially incompatible with your device. Install anyway?"
Hate forced to side load an app just because I'm blocked.

What would be nice if they'd say WHY so you don't have to guess. Also, that way you can email the dev and say "Market says your app won't install because of reason "555: No camera permission" or something.
