So I've tried to install a variety of different apps that I know are compatible with my device and all the google play store responds with is "This item is not compatible with your device." The most recent is nVidia TegraZone which should install considering it's a Tegra3 Device. Anybody else having this issue and/or found any fixes?
I've side loaded several apps like that which end up working fine. Basically, I download the app to a rooted phone, use titanium backup to backup the app, then download it to the N7 and enjoy.

Thanks. Worked very nicely.
I would really like it if I could just to some small hack to not have to worry about doing this though...
Anything that requires a camera permission is incompatible, including Grocery King which really annoys me as I use it for all of my shopping. Barcode Scanner, Google Goggles, etc...
Luckily LoseIt, calorie tracker, CAN use a camera but on my N7 it installed just fine just doesn't have the barcode scanning option. This is how apps should be written. For example, Google Goggles can be used on existing photos, or even photos taken with the camera hack from modoco.
In the past I've also have problems with apps that require Send/Read SMS, but I haven't noticed any of those yet.
What apps are you seeing incompatible?
For some reason the good Ameritrade one doesn't even show up in Play, but it side loaded fine for me. Had to side load Firefox as well.

I have App Backup & Restore automatically backing up the APK's from everything I installed on my Sensation. So I downloaded those, uploaded to the Nexus and installed OK. The only one I haven't made work is Dropbox.
They should just say, "App shows as being partially incompatible with your device. Install anyway?"
Hate forced to side load an app just because I'm blocked.

ro.sf.lcd_density=240 then You Go to Applications and wipe the cache and data for google play store and google services framework, turn Your phone off and on twice. give it a try

Hello,
I'm running into an issue with my rooted NookColor. I ran AutoNooter last night, no problems there. Now that I've bound my Google account to YouTube, I can sync GMail with no problems. The issues start when I try to go to the marketplace and download an app. I select the app, and on the downloads screen it hangs at Starting Download. If I go to the Google Talk app, it tries to login, and then after a few minutes I get a notification that Authentication has failed.
Any ideas?

Mine does if I have more than one update - as the market always has had since Froyo. (Unless one of the updates has changed permissions - those you must approve one by one.)
Stock rom, still nothing from google. Seems like the server flakes out when trying to verify my device. No fancy hacks really. Wish I knew why. Tried everything I can think of so far. Even did a wipe and no go. Irritating to say the least.

Yesterday I got my Nexus and began installing play store apps. After I got many of my apps installed I noticed that some apps were coming up with "Your device isn't compatible with this version" and I wasn't able to download them. I went back and looked at some apps I had already installed such as Facebook for android and even that shows the same message now even though I was able to install it previously. I am disallowed in both the play store app as well as the web site from installing these apps so it is clearly something stored on play about my device. Is anyone else seeing this? Facebook for Android
Firefox

Evernote

- ro.sf.lcd_density=213
+ ro.sf.lcd_density=175
I guess I will try switching the density back and see if that makes a difference.
This is a common issue after you changed the LCD density, and unfortunately, there is no real solution (that I know of).
To get around this, revert back to the native density of 213. Clear cache of Play store. All apps should be compatible as stock. You can try to go back the lower the density again. Without clearing cache of the Play store this time, you may get lucky that the Play store may *think* it is still under the default LCD density.

Yes, I have no problem launching those apps. It sounds like its just a Play Store incompatibility. Some others have reported using a dpi of 160 and not having Play Store issues, but like I said, my issue showed up a couple hours after the fact. And having changed it back to the default, my Play Store issues have not yet gone away.
After changing the settings back, force stopping play store, clearing cache and data, then rebooting, I was able to get the play store behaving properly again. But I HATE the phone UI. So I am tempted to change it back once I get the apps I want. I may give 160 a shot rather than 175.

I have the kindle fire hd 7 inch non rooted. Skype works perfectly while kindle is on. After maybe ten mins of having the screen off, when I receive a call it rings but when I unlock the device a little box in the middle says "skype force closed", or something like that, and you can either choose "wait" or "ok". try this
Try using the program "Skype Boot." You don't need to have the Play Store installed; use go to the 1Mobile website, download the installation APK, install, open, and search for the Skype Boot program--enables opening Skype at boot up. I'm not sure it will help you, and you'll have to reboot to try it. I'd uninstall your version of Skype, and select to download the one fresh from the Amazon App store labeled for Kindle Fire. When you uninstall, select to uninstall from the app settings menu--completely wipe the program. Force close, wipe data, then wipe cash, then uninstall. That's just what I'd do. Then re-install the app, selecting it from the app store.
Sign in to it. I have a microsoft account I sign in with. probably doesn't matter. after that, go and open the Skype boot app from 1Mobile ('cause you didn't have any issues installing that, right? SHOULDN'T). Select to load Skype at bootup. Navigate out of that app, and reboot, see if that helps.
I've things a bit different in my setup; I'm rooted, and I used titanium backup to convert Skype to a system app. It hasn't force closed since yesterday when I rebooted. Also, if I go to my settings menu and look at installed applications and select to view running applications, Skype is not listed as running, but it definitely is (showing Online status in the notifications pull-down).
Just FYI, there's no harm in rooting, it won't break anything--but installing the Play Store is a bit complicated. Most people, myself included are not remotely interested in installing a recovery or flashing a ROM; it's risky, and any ROM you might flash at this point will seriously decrease the KFHD functionality. At this point this thing Flies, especially in comparison to the original KF. Flash a ROM and you likely won't even be able to play video (hehe, you might brick it too, if you're lucky!). Don't hold your breath on getting a ROM that actually improves Amazon stock function. That kinda broke even with the original KF, and with HD I don't think the incentive is really there to move and shake, dev-wise.

I tried it, but now Amazon doesn't allow you to change the launcher so the option to "lock" the home button doesn't work. It still works, but it shows an "action forbidden" screen, the shows the home screen for a few seconds, then re-launches the app. It's not an ideal solution, because a quick thinking youngster can simply launch the settings app in this interim period, and then go uninstall the app.
I just want to get YouTubeKids on my kids' profiles, but I'm not going to go through rooting etc. just for one app. For now, if they want to watch YouTubeKids, it must be at home where I can monitor it and I just log into my own profile and launch it.
I assume that it has something to do with those apps being linked somehow to amazon's app store, so if you figure out how to do that, then it may work.
