Flashing radio? - Wildfire Android Development

I'd like to know what should be done before flashing radio? Like, the battery should be full charged, and wipe stats and whatever.
Thanks in advance.

wiping before upgrading rom

Is it 100% neccessary to wipe before updating a rom if its the same rom just a different version? Like I have cyans 3.6.8.1 and want to go to cyans 4.0.1
I'm just looking for some clarification on this matter. I know when you switch roms you want to but I haven't really seen anything concrete on upgrading roms. Any help would be appreciated
No, no, no.... you need to wipe when you use a bathroom, not when you flash software
People will hate me for this but... here it goes
We wipe to avoid problems with the new rom. We DO NOT know if we will have problems, good chance that we will NOT. I never wipe untill something goes wrong, and I was just fine for last 14-15 flashes.
Here's another way to think about it.... do OTA updates wipe your phone? Didn't think so.
Flash away. If you have problems then, and only then, nand back to your previous configuration, wipe, reflash. Don't wipe after flash... Cyan's roms don't like that AFAIK.
Good luck.

I heard somewhere that it's best to wipe when going from HTC rom to Google rom and vice versa. I know that for cyan's roms that if you rarely have to wipe (I had to wipe when trying out 3.9.11.*), but for the most part you won't have to (went from 3.4.6 to each update until 4.0.1 without wipe)

At this point..the only HTC roms we have are Hero and that's a whole another story. Not only you have to wipe but also reformat your sd. Big mess... not worth it IMHO. Your mileage may vary.
Thanks for ppointing this out though...
Personally, I wipe, then repair ext filesystems before I flash a new ROM. The only time I don't is when I'm updating a ROM that I have, cm x.x.x to cm x.x.x, in hich case I'll just repair ext's then flash. But, when in doubt...
Original question(s) seem to be solved.

Low Battery life after trying MIUI and Nandroid'd back to CM6...Help?

I've been running CM6 flawlessly for a few weeks now, getting 10-12 hours of battery life everyday. I wanted to give a try at MIUI, didn't like it and I did a Nandroid back to my previous CM6 installation. But now after 3-4 hours of usage I have to charge my cell phone.
Can someone tell me what happened? I haven't changed any settings, SetCpu is at 500/250 with 250/250 when screen is off...
I did all the clear Davik / Cache / partition things before restoring with Nandroid.
I heard about battery kernels, but dont know much about them...
Thanks!
I have exactly the same issue.
try to flash the sbf file image again with rsd lite to make sure your phone is really back to stock
I didnt went back to stock I restored my CM6 Nandroid backup.
I'd never want to go back to stock =)
Tonight I'll try what Ph0z3 posted here and let you know if it did work.

[Q] Boot Loop when installing ROM

Hey guys; i'll try to provide you with all the information but honestly i'm not 100% on all of it so try and be patient.
I'm trying to go back to SuperE from Froyo by Laszlo which was absolutely killing my battery without me even using it. However, every time i flash it (and i wipe everything) after it goes past the G1 screen it just resets again.
I'm not sure if this is maybe because of the new kernel (2708) which i'm PRETTY sure i have, but am not 100%. I do know that i have one of the new radios though.
Would the kernel be causing the problem? If so how do i downgrade?
I hope you can help me out!
Thank you!
Q: Can you mention step-by-step what did you flash? And confirm the exact setup before flashing. I believe you mentioned your radio is 2708.

Thank you for replying. I'll definitely try.
I'm back on FroyoByLaszlo-int2.1 because i couldn't successfully flash either Super D or Super E.
My Radio is 2.22.28.25
Kernel version says 2.6.35.10 - froyobylaszlo
Basically i did what i always do. I wiped everything, first by flashing the "all-wipe" and then going back and wiping it all manually.
Then i flashed the appropriate gapps, followed by the ROM. Rebooted afterwards, but every time it gets passed the G1 screen it reboots.
The only thing i can think of is incompatibility with the kernel but then again, i don't know crap, so that's why i'm asking
Yep, most likely it is indeed the incompatibility of the kernel with the radio.
I'd try flashing the ezBiffTestKernel20101106-2708.zip after the ROM+GApps.
Just use Google to find the kernel.

The battery drain could be becos of the new kernel. Try installing the 35.9 kernel from ezterry (the one he had for CyanogenMod 6.1 2708) It is working good for me, the battery last for a whole day.

[Q] whats up with this?

so im running senseLX right, well my battery dies so fast, and also my camera does not work, i have a mytouch, am i doing something wrong, any suggestions on what may be causing this or how i can fix it?
You can pm the developer and ask or post your hboot and radio try manual wipe and super wipe reboot recovery and reflash great rom by the way

[Q] GB to ICS wakelock drain & cached process

Like many others, I'm having trouble with battery drain on DXLP9. I did the battery pull to no avail, the wakelock kept reappearing. Then I followed someone's suggestion to force stopping all of the cached process and, but unsure whether it's just placebo or not. Okay, questions:
Since the official update is non wipe, is it possible for "leftover" cached processes from GB still drains the battery in ICS? I.e. new bin, but old .conf and .tmp and got confused kinda thing. Again, is it possible?
If screen lock could cause problem, can it be eliminated by simply disabling it?
Pardon my stupid questions.
Yes there can be leftover trash from gb. Thats why it is recommended to do a factory reset before upgrading to ics. Wich will give you a clean system.
But what about the mmc erase bug? Factory reset via Settings can trigger it, am I right?
Yes it can trigger the emmc bug on ics kernels. Thats why I recommend doing the factory reset while still on GB.
yeah, wipe data/factory reset on GB BEFORE you flash the stock ICS rom and you should be good to go.
