Hi, can anyone please let me know how to get voodoo lag fix on froyo PLUS how to get the 3 button download mode? I just can not get it, by pressing the 3 button combination the phone simply re boots.
Really interested in voodoo, help needed
3 button fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785201

I once had the same problem where the 3 button dl mode didnt work. The link worked for me : D
Thanks man but this just can not help me.
let me tell you in a bit detail,
I have downloaded the lag fix file on my pc and then transfered it on my mobile in the root of SD card but when I try to reboot it from an application called VOODOO TOGGLE REBOOT (downloaded from android market) it just give the message FILE not found.
And when i try to get it through ODIN, i can not get the download mode on my mobile.
It would be really nice of you to show or tell the solution. I have read, some guys are getting the same error when doing it the update.zip method. FILE Not found.
Would appreciate

Tried to replace the lock screen using the MOD from the 'JI6 MODS' thread,
and now my phone is stuck at the Att world phone screen.
I can reboot into recovery, but that doesn't help me. When I try to reinstall packages it says:
'E: failed to open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip (no such file or directory)
E: signature verification failed.
Installation aborted. '
I tried to push the update.zip file it needs to my internal sd, but it said permission denied.
Sometimes I can access my phone via ADB but it's only for a few moments while its loading the 'ATT world phone' screen but not for very long. I tried to push the original odex file to /system/framework/ but got permission denied.
I can get into download mode but when in Odin it always fails during file analysis.
I thought for sure that Odin would be able to fix this, but no luck.
My phone was running
Froyo JI6 rooted, no lag fix or anything. The only MOD I was running was Fightspits circle battery MOD.
Does anyone know anything I could try? I'm at the point where i'd try just about anything..
Please and Thank you!

Put your phone into download mode (open the ODIN one click to stock, remove battery, remove SIM, replace battery, hold down both volume buttons, plug phone into usb while still holding volume keys, wait for the pic of an android with shovel to appear on the phones screen, click start) this should put you back to stock.
Its seems though that you might a kernel issue. You might just want to put phone into download mode and using the standard ODIN flash xcalibers reoriented kernel with 2e recovery.
The message you are getting in recovery is because you have the standard froyo kernel wich does not support self-signed .zip files.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply maginator!
I actually got home from work today and my roomate had it fixed.
He booted into recovery then cleared the cache and user data, and THEN
used odin to flash it back to stock 2.1
Very happy to have my cappy back!
Yeah i got the same problem but mine wont go into download mode i get the att world phone, then the att wold phone again and then it goes into recovery <2a>....any advice could really use it.
Any help you are willing to give is greatly appreciated.
Ok so I rooted my phone and deleted the bloatware on my samsung captivate. I only delete the apps i did not want, but i am not an experienced android hacker so i might have done something stupid. My issue is when i try to download an app in the market this message pops up.
"The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. dumpstate_app_202012092328_android_process_media.l og has been saved. Use *39900# to copy out log"
I have tried force closing the market but it does not work. un rooted my phone and it doesnt work. deleted the app that i used to delete the bloatware thinking it could be the app interfereing and that doesnt work either. I have done a factory reset and id did not work, attempted to use ODIN but i cannot understand how to use it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989.
At the moment i am trying to use rom manager and a rogers stock but it wont flash the new rom. its the clsoest i have gotten to fixing my mess but using the rogers stock it stays on installing and using any other one it doesnt find it.
I am so sad and helpless. I would greatly appreciate any help you would be willing to provide.
it definately looks like you deleted something you shouldn't have, but I have no idea what. although getting back to stock is quite easy with odin.
-first download the odin one click provided by designgears in that thread you linked.
-open it up and connect your usb cable to your computer, but not the phone yet.
-turn off your phone and enter download mode by holding both volume keys down and plugging the usb cable in. hold the volume keys down until you see the yellow triangle with the android digging or whatever. see below if this method did not work for you.
-click start on the odin one click window on your computer and wait until it finishes; your phone will reboot automatically.
if the above method of entering download mode did not work for you, you will need to download another version of odin one click to stock posted in the captivate development forum that has the button fix; it should only be a few pages in. flashing this will fix the button combinations and allow you to use the button combinations to enter either download or recovery mode. however in order to flash this, you obviously need to enter download mode. this is easily done by using adb of which there is a guide posted somewhere on this forum or using the terminal emulator app that I will attach to this post, if you reply saying the above button method did not work, since your problem is that you can't install it from the market yourself. (mods, i hope this is okay since it is a free app. if not I apologize and please remove it) copy this file to somewhere on your sd card and using the my files application, select it to install it. then open it up and type reboot download without having the usb cable connected. after you see the yellow triangle, plug in the cable and click start on odin. using the above command requires your phone to be rooted. (i think?) hope this helps.
unfortunately i do not see the terminal emulator app that you attached to the post?
If I had to take a guess at it you deleted gtalk. Did the same thing a while back.
Do you have loading enabled?
Have you ever heard of or used odin?
Good news is you will recover. You are going to have to learn a couple if things.
What do you know? What type of computer do you have?

I searched the forums for the terminal emulator and commands to get to download page.
su press enter
reboot download enter
and it worked like a charm. then i followed exactly what you said after that and it worked amazing thank you so much!!!!!
haha glad you got it fixed. I was going to attach the terminal emulator if you had replied saying the button method didn't work.
Hello,
I have read many threads and have tried many solutions with no avail. I am giving out $20 (may not be much but still an insentive) to whomever that will help me solve this.
I have 2 vibrants that keep booting to the Galaxy S i9000 intro and keeps rebooting there. I can't get into the recovery mode, but I can get into download mode and ODIN works just fine.
Please someone help

Just flash another firmware with Odin.Download a stock firmware, click re partition in odin, load all 3 files and pit and flash it.
You see sometimes after flashing with odin in some cases you might have to do a factory reset to boot the phone, since you cant go in recovery you will need to flash a complete stock firmware. This will probably work.

Follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853950
and flash this firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883568
The people above me pretty much said it.
Go into download mode, connect to odin, download a firmware that will work with your phone, flash your phone. That should fix it.
Best of luck! Tell me how it goes
K. Just came back from bell corporate store. Said I can't do anything without a receipt so until I get a hold of my friend that I bought this off of, I will try what you guys have suggested.
By the way, the gentleman (who seemed very knowledgable) tried flashing my phone on the spot behind the counter and now the phone boots with a black screen and the bottom keys glow when pressed.
When entering recovery mode <3e> and try to format internal sd-card, i get the following:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(No such file or directory)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD:
I will now try what you guys have suggested and keep you updated.
tried kewjoe's suggestion but no luck. Any other suggestions?
Time for a replacement - looks like you've got the ever-so-popular internal SD card death.
If you take it into a Bell store they'll send it out and you should get a new one sent back to you in the mail. Bonus if you have any scratches on the phone or anything.

Read some of the bell threads that deal with this sdcard issue. Some people went through samsung directly and didn't need a receipt.

I've had that problem, shouldn't be too hard to fix.
Flash the Rom JPC with a 512 pit, make sure re-partition is ticked.
Then you can go back the original rom you was on without a pit and without re-partition ticked.
Make sure you do all them steps
Hope this has helped!

I had this issue when flashing from JL2 to another
- some of your partitions got messed, first boot odin, put your phone into download mode and make sure odin see's it. Select JL2 in the PDA secion and click the phone boot loader update
- after it's flashed, find the speedmod from hardcore on xda and flash that, also in the pda part, make sure everything else is default so it's best to close odin and reopen it
- after you have the speed mod on you should be able to get back into recovery.
- almost there, flash the stock 2.1 on your phone this has some data that no other rom has, once you flash that you can flash JL2 over top once again and you should be good to go
- msg me if you have issues
is this issue still on ongoing?
try this (if you haven't tried it before):
1. Launch Odin
2. Put the necessary stock firmware + PIT file that goes with it
3. tick re-partition (not sure what partition you are currently in so that's why I'm suggesting repartition)
4. Go into DL mode and plug the phone in via USB
5. Flash it
6. Once done, go flash hardcore's latest speedmod kernel via Odin again
7. Go to cwm recovery (hardcore's speedmod will give you this)
8. wipe partition cache+factory reset + clear dalvik cache
9. reboot system (will take a several minutes to boot out of the Galaxy S screen)
10. Hopefully your problem is solved.
11. If my method worked for you, PM me. I'll ask you to give that $20 to a local charity of my choice. Street kids needs some love too in the new year
Had this problem yesterday. I wrote in this post how to fix it. Looks like similar advice to what others are telling you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892534
this will work for sure..
download jpu from here http://hotfile.com/dl/88094739/f5545cc/I9000XXJPU.exe.html
after self extract
put the phone on download mode
open odin
select the files (pda, csc, pit )
check repartation , reboot , reset time
Wanting to know if i skip the, go into downloading mode, on the official upgrade will it brick my phone? Im asking this mainly because everything ive tried will not bring my captivate into recovery or dl mode. And i haven't been able to really find any help on getting past the 3 button problem. And samsun recomended i reboot the phone! But hope someone can help, would like to get 2.2 asap!
I recommend fixing your button combo just in case something goes wrong. What firmware is on your phone now? If you have a ROM with the advanced power menu you can use that to get into recovery. You can also use the adb reboot recovery command or use terminal emulator if the phone is rooted and type:
Code:
su
reboot recovery
Then install the attached file. You can also get into download mode the same way, but the first thing I would do is fix the button combos.
Currently I have jf6 cause somehow the ota update was never received! But what would be the best route for fixing my 3button recovery/dl mode? I would love to fix it before updateing to 2.2! Thanks for helping BTW!
Please I need help! I was trying to flash speedmod kernal k13 and when odin finished up and rebooted my phone it just kept having this vibration pattern at the start up screen. Odin sees the phone on the COM port when I connect the phone on the Galaxy S scren but the 3-button combo will not work to put me into download mode so I can fix this. Please any advice would help P.S. I hope not to do the JIG method but I guess if it is the only thing left I can try it.
If you did a search regarding your problem you could find many similar threads here but anyhow please explain your previous kernel did you have any lagfix before? which rom you were using? what kind of partitions you had?
for now maybe you can try removing your battery for a few minutes and replace it and get 3 key for download mode and see if it works

I was on GingerReal 3.2 before and I had lag fixes on it. Then I flashed back to stock JVB because I was going to install CM7 but when I tried to put the speedmod kernal on my I9000 while on STOCK JVB I think I might have done it incorrectly in Odin. Now my ohine just has a vibrate pattern of 1-3-1-3... at the Galaxy S start-up screen. I removed my battery for about an hour or two and I cant get it into download mode to get the 3 button fix, if thats what you mean by "3 key".

Are you able to get in to recovery mode? (vol up + home + power)
If you can I would suggest mounting your memory card using clockwork, copy over a new kernal and install a JVB compatible kernal from there as speedmod is not for 2.3+ firmwares
If you are unable to get in to recovery mode then a jig is the way forward, when you get in to download mode you can then flash stock
