[Q] N1 hangs in /!\ screen - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need some help!
My Nexus One hangs in the /!\ screen after my first attempt to install the CM7 RC1.
I flashed it using ROM Manager en followed the steps on the CM Wiki:
Nexus One: Full update Guide (Cant post a link)
What can I do to make my Nexus One work again?

DO *NOT* POST QUESTIONS IN THIS FORUM - only tips/info/etc.

Sorry, I couldn't post in the development section because I'm not allowed to.
I will post it again in the Q&A.

That's the error page.
Put the ROM and Gapps on your SD card, boot into recovery and flash from there.

Do I need to unlock my bootloader too?
I'm reading different things about that.

Did you flash a custom recovery?

Yes I did!
I've been searching around and asked a friend for help!
I'm running CM7 now!
Thanks for your help!!

The /!\ screen is the stock recovery, so no, you didn't flash a custom recovery; or at least it didn't stick...

Read the Wiki, read the guide for installing custom ROMs, execute.

Glad you got it fixed bro!

I had the same problem and was somewhat freaking out for a few hours today. You need to install clockworkmod most likely. Get the data from the clockworkmod thread over in the development subsection, and use the fastboot flash recovery command to install it.
I'm about to go to sleep, but if you can get to fastboot don't freak out like I did. PM me if you can't figure it out by tomorrow. I can try my best to help (although I admit I'm also very noobish in many ways)
theres a clockworkmod recovery for vivid ?

Yes, in the development section.
Not trying to sound like an a-hole but people really need to read and ask questions before they try to start doing these things to their phone.

Best way to speed up my stock 8.9 i957?

I have a stock 8.9 that's pretty slow. It even freezes sometimes. Is there anything I can do to speed it up?
Look to install ICS or Jb. Works like a charm

Ok. Can you point me to some thorough instructions? A lot of the instructions I see leave parts out or assume some prior knowledge.

Check the development section. Im working on CM10 now (the 31-10 build), which has JB. No problems. I just wanna say, read before you do, just to close out some problems.
Maybe its easier if you ask your problems and someone can answer

I so depend on my tablet that I don't want to try it without knowing what I'm doing. If I run into problems and can't use it I'll be screwed.
I have an i957 so the steps are a little different I think. Is that what you have?
Hmm, i just followed the steps in the CM10 and its working. I have a p7310 model...
The steps are the same. I have an i957 and am running the cm 10 from nrvate. Just make sure you have a Rom specifically for the i957. Very happy with the Rom. You can find it in the i957 development section.

I must be dense. I don't see the steps!
This is all I see:
Use TWRP, factory reset and wipe /system if you are coming from another ROM. Don't forget to install google apps http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.ph...on/Google_Apps
And that doesn't tell me enough.....
Start by looking for instructions on how to install a recovery and root your device. CWM and TWRP are two recoveries, you'll use one of the two. These are flashed through Odin. Once you have a recovery installed then you can flash a rom through it. Make sure the Rom is specific for your device. Not any Rom will work and the wrong one will brick it. These are basic instructions and are only meant to show you what to look for on the forums. The forums have "stickies" where a lot of this basic information can be found.
The galaxy sII General forum had some good stickies that can help. Read and 're-read them until you'll comfortable.

Oh boy. I think I did it. I flashed TWRP through ODIN. With CM10 from nrvate do I just point TWRP to the file and that's it?
Wipe system, cache and dalvik cache. Then point twrp (install) to the rom. Then install the gapps and then reboot.

What about Google Apps? Where do I get that?
When I wipe does that remove all of my apps and info??!?
No it doesn't remove your apps, but I'd back those up first just in case. The gapps package should be found where you found the Rom.
Ps factory reset will delete your apps.

I see the link to gapps isn't working on nrvate s open. Google latest gapps. It's a file that ends something like 1011

Ugh. I just flashed and rebooted from TWRP. I get the Samsung screen and then a black screen and then nothing......
Just posted to to CM10 thread. Hopefully, it's an easy fix.
Give it sometime and then try re booting. If you can still get to twrp you can restore, you did a nandriod back up,right?
If that doesn't work you may be soft bricked. If so go to sammobile.com and down load the stock Rom and flash it through Odin. Hopefully you don't need that but it'll bring you back to where you started. But I hope you backed everything up. Because your tab will be like New again.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I tried rebooting again and now I can get to the Cyanogenmod splash screen. It just sits there though....
That's a good sign, your not soft bricked. What version of twrp are you using? I'd try going back into twrp and wiping the cache and dalvik and then under advanced, fix the permissions and then reboot.

If that doesn't work then you'll have to do a clean install which means a factory reset. Back everything up first though with something like titanium backup pro.
Then do the factory reset, the wipes and install the Rom and gapps. After booting you'll have to resetup your Gmail account and then install titanium backup again Then you can restore your apps and data.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Dang. That didn't work. I'm using TWRP 2.1.4.
Ok, I'll restore, then back up with Titanium and do what you said.
Thanks.
I know you can get this running on your i957 because I did. But I went through what your going through too. I'm using twrp 2.3.1.1. If you Google twrp i957 you see a goo.im download, get the .tar file. It will install over your twrp version thru Odin.
But I'm pretty sure the factory install will do the trick.

[Q] HTC dev bootloader unlocked via HTC Dev - hwo to install custom ROM though?

Hey, I unlocked my HTC Dream (Rogers, post 911 patched) bootloader from the HTC Dev site: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/
The Dream/G1 bootloader unlock code is now provided by HTC themselves. Everything went smoothly but I don't know what to do next. I know I needed to do this to install custom ROMs (I'm on android 1.5 right now, want to go to gingerbread 2.3) but i have no clue how/where to start.
Any help would be seriously appreciated.
The HTC dev bootloader is garbage and will only cause you headaches. Relock the bootloader and root properly, Google search cyanogenmod wiki dream, follow those steps

Hi, thanks for the reply, however I only went down the HTC route cuz this link http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/Rogers_Dream:_Rooting_(Post-911_Patch) doesn't work. Many people have the same problem as me that the exploid, doesn't work, but I couldn't find a solution.
Dunno what to do, all I want is gingerbread lol, thanks for replying though, appreciate it
I don't know why it doesn't work I did it to my rogers g1 back when and it worked fine, what's the issue

[Q] How do I update a rooted device without stock recovery?

I rooted the phone and replaced the stock recovery a while ago. I keep getting these damn notifications to upgrade, I know it doesn work with a modified recover. It's beginning to annoy me.
What would be the easiest way to upgrade the HTC one?

Where can I find the prerooted stock roms?
I'm not quite ready for a custom ROM. I've been following the progress of a couple though. It always seems like there is never a final version to custom ROMS and usually a couple useful features are sometimes missing.

Same forum you find the custom ROMS in.
And even with stock ROMs there's never a final version, hence you wanting to update the device. Read, learn, get your feet wet.
Otherwise, just reflash stock recovery and let it update when there's an update.

Thanks, I've been to the deep end and back. Been lurking since thread one. You see I've been around a long time and don't post very often. I browsed through all 9 pages of the htc One android development threads but didn't find it. I did a couple of searches and didn't find it, I posted in the questions hoping to get links for reference and well because that what it is there for.
Edit: I looked again and found it. Thanks again for your help.

HTC Desire C stuck on HTC logo

Hi all. So I've just unlocked the bootloader on my Cricket HTC Desire C. But when I try to install Superboot, it just reboots and stays stuck on the HTC logo with a message. "This build is for development purposes only". Can anyone help me?

r1 superboot splash screen
1. Was the phone operating and in use after you rooted it with r1_Superboot?
2. Have you installed Superboot and installed a ROM without rebooting the system or wiping caches/data etc?
3. Have you installed a Custom Recovery?
4. Have you ensured you have read through guides before flashing? I ask this with only -*1*- posting it does not bode well!
A quick google search and 3 pages in you find -> https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=26&cad=rja&ved=0CEsQFjAFOBQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D2305429%26page%3D2&ei=KvyuUr_dJ4OAhAftnIDABw&usg=AFQjCNGgxlojZOIPXesuQTzy0TOM7dCwBw&bvm=bv.57967247,d.bGQ Go back to Thread Start and post #6 leads you to a good guide -> {{READ the whole thread as there may be more up to date info than my quick search }} http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1947613
If after trying to access HBOOT, flash a recovery, flash a ROM does not work you will have to see about flashing a DIAG image {extreme case}
The key is Cricket. try this thread, very hard to find... http://www.cricketusers.com/cricket-htc-desire-c/85095-root-new-post.html
Anything here in XDA is not for the Cricket, don't try.
I have not done anything except unlocking the bootloader.
