Rooted NC (1.1) suddenly restarted itself and root is...altered? - Nook Color General

I set down my NC (rooted about 2 weeks ago and was awesome!) and was on the phone not even 2 minutes when I happened to look at it and saw that it was at the start screen (the "n" and then the "touch the future of reading"). It did get to the android start up screen where it asks you to enter your gmail acct. I tried doing that and it said it couldnt get a network connection. I checked, and it's still at 1.1.0. But most of my rooted apps, settings, etc are gone. The market is still there, but I can't access it at this point because it wont accept my gmail registration...
I'm stumped! Should I try to re-root from scratch?
ETA:
After some investigation, it appears that the root is still in place but it's been pushed back to the point where you're supposed to sync with your google accts when you do the initial root. I try that, but it keeps giving me an error message that says "Cant Establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call customer service."
It's connected to wifi, so that's not the issue.

Happened to me too
Same thing happened to me a few days ago. Afterwards, I reset the NC to stock and the only reason I haven't re-rooted is that for some reason I can't get it to update from 1.0.1 to 1.1.0.
When I purchased it a couple weeks ago, I side loaded the 1.1.0 update and it updated just fine. Now when I load the update, I can't get the process to kickoff. I've reimaged the system partition with 8 interrupted boots and reimaged the data partition with both the "Erase & Deregister Device" option and the power/home key boot multiple times, but nothing ever happens after transferring the sideload_update.zip to the NC. I've left it on for a couple nights, but still no update.

Noob question, I can change BN account but not gmail or market?

I bought the nook for my daughter, during initial setup I rooted it from 1.0 to 1.01 and used my gmail to setup it up. Now she wants her gmail so I unsubscribed the device which wiped the owner info and did the 8 times reboot (unroot?) thingy and it boots using the "normal" boot screen but in extras there are still the root tools.
When I try to go to market and use either my or her gmail I get a message "problem with connecdtion" or something like that but it will sign into the BN account I setup for her.
So how can I fix this?

This is perhaps just your network issue, pal. I've done this root-restore job 15+ times in the past 2 weeks and never had such a problem when I did the software/hardware reset.
So maybe you can try connect your network again , or do the reset again I guess?
I've done the reset about 4 times now and I have tried it on multiple networks...
I had same problem with my wife's account, but not mine. This was on a different device. I've got the NC back to stock and will be returning tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it working.

[Solved] Trying to activate G1 RC29 over WiFi

I just got my old G1 back from my sister who had been using it for a few months. It was unrooted running stock 1.6. She wiped the phone and gave it back to me. I'm wanting to play around with some ROMs. Right now, I'm following this guide in order to install CM6. I had been having trouble flashing RC29 until I switched SD cards. I got RC29 successfully installed and then I was able to successfully connect to my WiFi network using the guide here. Well, I think I'm connected to my WiFi network; the WiFi icon is there in the notification bar.
Now, here's where the trouble is, when I attempt to sign in with my Google account, it sits there for about a minute or two at the "Signing in..." screen and then throws up an error saying "There is a problem communicating with the Google servers." I've tried signing in about 10 times now with two different Google accounts, and none have worked.
Anyone know what's up? I've done this process countless times before, last time back in August, and it worked just fine. Thanks.
Edit: Just popped in an active AT&T SIM in, added the proper APN (found here), and it seemed to do the trick. Am now activated. Not sure why it wasn't working before with WiFi.
Edit 2: Now that I'm logged in and able to boot into Android, I removed the active SIM (put it back into my Nexus One), and I put back in a deactivated SIM, I can't get any network connections at all over WiFi.
I got CM6 installed, and WiFi still wasn't working. It turns out, there's a strange bug that seems to happen with either my G1 or my router (a Linksys WRT54G). I had to power cycle the router and reconnect my G1 to the network. All seems to be working well now.

[Q] google account not connecting

Hello! i have an experia z (obviously) and a long while ago i changed my password on my google account. A few days ago, i was doing something (i dont remember what) and it said that it cannot access my google account. so i went into settings and removed the account and tried to relog in. but now all im getting is a screen saying it cannot get a stable connection to the server and asks me to use wifi for more stability. Sadly, i was already using wifi so i still went through the guided setup to select my wifi and try again. still didnt work. so i turned off wifi and used my 4g and it still wouldn't let me log in. So now im trying to troubleshoot ways to log in because i have none of my contacts and stuff like that.
it still lets me log into the account in the browser window and in the gmail app and in the email account setting in account. just not in the guided setup for making it the primary account. (i tried to add it as email and sync to think "just maybe it will work" but it only syncs emails :X)
my device is rooted and using stock rom
Here are things I've tried to do (some are from suggestions online that aparently helped others):
Reboot phone
remove data/cache from google play store
uninstall updates for google play
unchecking auto time
checking auto time
making sure time is right
checked for software updates
restarted phone, took sims card out and tried logging in
tried to log in through youtube app (which goes through the says black screened log in guide)
turned on airplane mode, turned off phone, turned it back on, then tried wifi and data again.
and i think that is all i have tried. But it tried alot of things so im not sure. Once again. i can log into the account on my phone in other places just not in this black windowed log in guide and yes im typing in the right password and username... i can add pictures if needed.
Bump also tried factory reset and going to website and did the trouble shooting guide. Still nothing
Bump threw phone at wall and drowned it in tub. Still not doing it
Also I called customer service. And like I assumed, all he did was tell me to reset cache and data and restart device. Then asked if I could try to factory reset and then couldn't find any other solutions. So im stuck

[Q] Problems with Google Accounts after Updating with Root

Hello!
The other day, after updating my Phone to ATT's latest firmware, I realized my root access had been removed. That was the least of my problems, however. I then realized that I couldn't use the Google Play store, as an error would show up saying No Connection. I learned it was a problem with freedom, so I attempted to fix it, but instead settled with wiping my device to get a new start. After backing up my data, I performed a factory reset, and began setting up the device.
Basically, what I'm building up to, is that when I attempted to sign in, an error came up saying Can't establish a reliable connection to the server. I have tried using 2 different WiFi connections and cellular data. I performed a factory reset both through the Samsung settings, and through the Android "Terminal" Accessed through Pressing Home and Volume up during start up. I have nowhere to turn! What can I do to regain connections to the Google servers, or convince my phone that it can connect?

Since you've already wiped your phone and don't have to worry about losing data I would just reflash the firmware.

Having issues bypassing tether restriction on Moto X Pure (XT1575) on Android 6.0

I was running the original Android 6.0 fine up until last night, rooted and all with the tethering bypass (I'm on Verizon grandfathered unlimited). I finally went to set out to get the security update from earlier this month so it would stop bugging me every night. I flashed my old system and boot partitions fine, flashed stock recovery, updated, and flashed TWRP again. I got my root back, so I'm basically back 100% to where I was, except without the tethering bypass, and I'm stumped.
I can't remember how I did it exactly before, and everything I'm trying isn't working. I found a entitlement bypass app (which is what I thought I did), but it isn't working right. Link for that is here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/themes-apps/app-hotspot-entitlement-bypass-v1-1-5-9-t2705152. Sometimes it says error, sometimes it says bypassed (but still does't work), etc. Then I tried editing my build.prop file and added the net.noprovisioning=true code (might not be word for word, I'm writing this post off of memory), rebooted, and that still didn't work. It never actually gives me an error like subscription required, it just doesn't do anything. If I click the hotspot from the top drawer nothing happens, and if I do it from settings it'll grey out for a while like it's loading, but never do anything else and stay like that for a while.
Any idea what to do to get around this?
