Why do android phones do this and how do i stop it?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
I assume you mean through bluetooth, which is strange because none of my phones do this(Nexus One, Vibrant, Nexus S, and G2).
All of my Androids have done this and it has been discussed. If my car is in Bluetooth Streaming mode and the phones bluetooth is on, as soon as I start the car, music starts playing.
I can confirm this on a captivate and the nexus s. And there seems to be no way to choose the player it uses. I too would like to know how to prevent the auto playing or at least select the player it will launch.

all my old phones did that properly (Palm, Desire, SGS, XT720 and now SNS)
Except the Windows phones, which i hated, because they didn't do it
This may be a "feature" of the car's stereo. Like how if you leave your radio on when you turn off your car, then your radio turns back on automatically when you turn the car on again.

Yes, that's partly correct, it will only start autoplaying anything (for me) if the car's stereo is set to BT streaming. If I'm on Sirius or AM/FM, no interaction with the phone beyond pairing.
The issue is that if you're listening to something like BeyondPod or Pandora, the Music app starts autoplaying on top of the audio stream you're already listening to.

If you have the Microsoft Sync system in your vehicle you will have this command and a Sync Button. It worked in my 2009 Mercury Mariner Premier. It was previously opening winamp and playing all of the notification noises.
Now it waits for my to decide what noise to play.
Sync....please say a command....."AUTOPLAY OFF DAMNIT!"
I will be testing this on my lunch and will report back, heres hoping!
Sorry to bring an old thread back from the dead but I couldn't find an answer for this elsewhere. Well, I found an answer for the HTC Hero but couldn't find one for the Nexus S.
I'm having this problem with the Nexus S 4G always wanting to run WinAMP over whatever else (Pandora, Spotify, AmazonMP3 etc.). I don't have a Ford so I don't have a Sync button. I have a Nissan Leaf which only gives the options of Play/Pause, Next Track, and Previous Track. I believe the Leaf's infotainment system runs on a Microsoft designed OS, but it's not branded as Sync.
Even if I'm listening to something in Spotify after previously closing WinAMP and press Next Track from the steering wheel it will launch WinAMP and start playing WinAMP's music over top of Spotify's music. Makes for some interesting mashups, though unfortunately not in a good way.

It sounds like winamp is registering as the handler for the media controls and either spotify is not or winamp is not unregistering when closing.

I use tasker, which prevents the problem of opening wrong app, but still haven't solved the skip and pause problem.
Did you go to application settings-->manage applications and clearing the defaults for the app? Sometimes they are set by default.
Can anyone get the headset button to do anything apart from prompting the "Smart" Connect app to ask if you want to do nothing, open Evernote or Track ID.
This is infuriating, what use are Evernote or Track ID when I'm cycling and want to skip tracks, answer calls etc.
If you click do nothing, it will then stop the button from working with anything. 3rd Party apps don't respond either.
Disabling Smart Connect doesn't work, nor does installing the Smart Key app.
Tried another headset, that doesn't work either. Nor does using another music app (currently using Deezer, but the walkman app won't respond either).
Any ideas? I'm toying with giving Sony a call in the morning.
I heard from many Chinese users, that they have ths problem as well.
It seems to be an OFFICIAL problem, where all the headsets cannot ANSWER phone calles.
This seems to be a faulty bug.which hopefully will be fixed with the next updates~~

Hi peoples!
I recently got my pebble and installed the app, but since I installed the app I've noticed something odd with my phone. When any bluetooth device connects, media playback will switch from the speakers to the earpiece, and bluetooth headsets wont play/control music anymore. When connected to wired headphones itll play, but the default audio buttons will change the call volume, not media. After 10-30min it reverts to how it should be...at least until a new bluetooth connection is made. This persists whether pebble is connected or not, or if the app is installed or later uninstalled. Is this something to do with the pebble's connection to the phone, and if so is there any way to fix it? I've tried a full system reset on the phone and it's good for awhile, then changes again. Is it possible to just reset the audio drivers?
For some background information, I'm using a Galaxy S4 (Verizon) running 4.3 and no custom/root software. Both the Pebble app and firmware are up to date (as of 12/10/13), and accessibility services are turned off.
I'd appreciate any help I can get, thanks in advance!
What media apps are you using? Some apps such as BeyondPod have a setting on whether they send the song info to the bluetooth device or not...turning this setting off will correct some issues.

I got my Pebble two days ago and I've used it twice so far in my car with no problems. I use a Bluetooth receiver which I plug into my cassette adapter since I don't actually have a car system that has Bluetooth. I've also been able to control the music from the watch with no problems. I use a N5.
I got a N4. No problems over here. I would look over the settings of whatever apps you use! And play around with those.

Just updated to the Samsung Note4 from a SG5 and SG4 before that with many other Android phones.
I've been running into the issue that I can't find anyone else reporting or a resolution to and hope someone here can help.
I listen to podcast or Pandora. Unfortunately this version of Samsung Android, does not allow setting any other application as default for music or media playing.
When ever I connect through earphones, or Bluetooth the Music app automatically plays. Even when another audio app is running and when using either the earphones or Bluetooth button to pause or play will automatically start up the Music app and start playing.
I've partially stopped this by adding Bluetooth Connect & Play app from the Play Store. This is just a small fix that doesn't always work.
Interestingly enough when I turn off my car after listening to a Podcast or Pandora, I turn off the radio 1st to disconnect from the Bluetooth and also stop it from starting backup when I get in, the Phone immediately starts up the Music app and starts playing from the phone speaker.
I have already done a factory reset once.
I have contacted Samsung Support, only to be told that these features are "Samsung manufacturing design."
I have couple of options from what I can tell, Root the phone and change out the ROM with something that is close to stock but works, or Return the phone and take advantage of my 1st gen version of Jump and switch to the second phone in a year, which I am seriously debating. Might just go to the Nexus 6, maybe back to the Samsung GS5 which worked great, or join the herd and go with iPhone which really annoys me to be honest. I like being able to customize my phones which is what is really frustrating with this issue.
If anyone has any suggestions, similar experiences, or general helpful comments, its much appreciated.
Rooted the Note 4 today.
Disabled the Samsung Music app.
Set Google Play as the default music player, but the issue continues as it appears to be a Bluetooth communication issue.
What ever the default music app will respond to all Bluetooth controls, regardless if there is another music/media app running at that time.
Does anyone have a suggestion other than removing all MP3's on the phone and/or deselecting a default media app?
Thanks.

Just to post an update that others might be able to find helpful.
I found a old forum post about this exact issue on other android devices. One suggestion was an app called Media Button Router. It so far seems to be a work around for now.
I was wondering if there is anything similar we can use for our Huawei devices. Maybe anything on play store.
I want to stream media with Bluetooth device and use phone's internal speaker for calls/mic.
Ideally an option to select which audio device I use for every app.
I found app: SoundAbout on play store. Will test it later in the evening.
There is a bug I have when playing PUBG mobile with bluetooth headset. It detects it as a call output device not media therefore the sound quality is really bad and very low volume.
Not sure if this will fix the problem but will see.
When you hook up a portable speaker then you can adjust the settings in the bluetooth so that music will go to the speaker and when you get a call that it will go to the phone.

I've used the free app Bluetooth Auto Connect for several years. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.btautoconnect&hl=en_GB
Not sure it will let you have different options for each app, but I do actually use it for the exact opposite reason that you want... I direct calls to my car's inbuilt bluetooth but have my satnav app's instructions played through the phone speaker.
Also has Tasker integration...if you use it
