Screenshot with CM7 - Nook Color General

Does anyone know how to take a screenshot of your NC screen when running CM7? I know with stock, you can do n+vol down or maybe it was n + vol up. but it doesn't work on CM7.

I just use ShootMe (Screen Grabber) from the market

yes!this app!

I use a market app simply called Screenshot.

I tried both and PicMe as well. All I get is a black screen. Any reason why?

I don't think it ever works that way, at least in my case.

It worked for me , ShootMe only took incomplete screenshots while on landscape.

I just press the power button and use the screenshot option built into cm7.

What n??? of CM7 you guys currently have?
I did that screenshot option on the power button on at least 3 nightly-builds and none of them working.
I am running from eMMC and have NO uSD card plugged in.

I'm on 177, it's because you dont have a uSD in the Nook, since the default folder it saves the screenshots is in the sdcard

Updated:
jgaf and others are right, with the uSD installed, the built-in screenshot works beautifully.
Now, I will remove ShootMe to free up some tiny space

I'm delighted CM7 has this feature built in, seeing as the dev removed ShootMe from the market.

[Q] Lock nook orientation so power button is on top

When using the nook app from Barnes and Noble is it possible to lock the orientation to portrait and have the power button be at the top instead of the bottom? I'm guessing no, but thought I'd throw it out there just in case someone knows a trick.
How did you get nook loaded? It doesn't do anything when I click the link.
Thanks
Neudle
I'm running TnT Lite 2.2 and just loaded it from the Market.
Thank you. I realized after I posted that I was being dumb and didn't consider the mods.
I'm still too much of a noob and haven't figured out how to apply the market place, clockwork or alternate ROMs.
I'll get those figured out and try again.
Thanks again,

Long Press on 3.0 question

I'm running 3.0, preview 4, and I had a question about the long press. On every video online, the long press on the home screen allows you to go into a screen that has apps on the bottom, and a display of all your home pages on top. In addition, there's a while boarder around each home page (that you can see when you scroll). Not only do I not have the thin white line boarder around the pages, but when I long press, it acts like 2.2 where it gives you a menu for widgets, shortcuts, etc.
What do I need to do to get the long press option everyone else has? Is that launcher pro, or am I just simply overlooking a simple setting?
Thanks everyone.
Nobody knows?
It's a feature of whatever launcher is being used...

Does anyone know the launcher everyone is using then with 3.0 on Nooks? I want to guess it's Launcher Pro Plus, but I don't want to buy it until I know that's what I need.
Thanks for the reply btw.

Sounds like you are describing the stock launcher, which I use. I am not sure if it is different with deeper blues build, if that is what you are running. I am running HC on emmc version 2. I thought the two were basically the same, however.

What's weird is I have the same version as this guy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CEC0fcfbpM
...and yet, I don't have the +apps button on the top right, nor the boxes around each home screen which can be seen when he swipes between them, or the long press widget screen. It almost feels like mine acts more like Froyo with a pretty layer of HC on top. To confirm, mine is Deeper Blue's Preview V04.

Same stock launcher that I have. You may try to reinstall the Rom with a new image.
Do you know good instructions here to download a version of 3.0 that installs internally and that's over clocked but has the launcher shown above? (IE: yours)?
Thanks man.

So, if I read your post correctly, are you saying you now want to go with Honeycomb with an internal build, to the eMMC?
If so, then you need to check out samuelhalff's thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947071
I have been running that build since it first came out and loving it.
Sam's build will give you the stock launcher you see in the YouTube video you posted earlier. You should have also gotten that with the SD build from deeper-blue, but I have never run that version of HC, so cannot verify with certainty.
If any issues, you can always PM me and I will help you where I can (from a user perspective, not dev).
Good luck!
Quick question. I'm trying to over clock my 3.0 HC system, and in the instructions on Androidtablets.net says I need to find a program called Rom Manager to boot from. Where is this? I can't find it.
EDIT: Ok I'm dumb, it's an app... just trying to get it to install successfully. Thanks for dealing with a noob .
Ok, I'm trying to put clockwork recovery on there (since I didn't understand I needed to do that.. duuuhhrrrrrr). I downloaded the zip file, and put it on my SD card. I booted up Rom Manager, and hit Flash Clockworkmod recover. Then clicked Nook (old). However, it says 'An error occurred when attempting to run privileged commands!'.
Did I miss a step somewhere? Hopefully this is a slightly less embarrassing question . Thanks!

App issues in CM7 Tablet mod

I'd love to post some screenshots, but they don't work just yet in CM7
I am having an issue with Google Reader scaling. I can open the app up and it displays as it should. When I open articles, the screen will scale down to about 1/4 size. There is even a little fade transition to it too.
Can anyone else running CM7 tablet mod try Reader to see if I'm the only one?

This is an issue with all versions of CM7. It's due to the LCD Density being greater than 160.
If it's 160 or below, Maps force closes, but if it's above 160, some apps don't scale correctly. I personally just have a bookmark for the web app on my desktop, as I like it better than the android app.
So there is no fix, either I will have Maps crashing, or Reader not displaying properly
Man, I can't wait for 3.0 to be released

Of course there are fixes, or at least workarounds. They are discussed in the CM7 threads.

That's what I tried first, disabling compatibility, rebooting, enabling compat, reboot
On or off, Google Reader and Tiger SNES are both scaled down

Care to link me or enlighten me?
I updated to yesterdays latest version, but I am still having scaling issues with Reader
Help? Please?

[Q] Why shootme can't work correctly on my O2X

I want to get a screenshot, and then I launched shootme and shake, but I only get the picture below. Anyone knows how to solve the problem? Or just recommend me an app that grabs screen correctly. Thanks a lot!
Sent from my Optimus 2X
That error usually happens on a custom ROM. Which one are you at?
If you are on stock, pressing home then the power button grabs a screenie quite effectively.
In any case, Screenshot ER is a highly recommended app that works with any ROM.
Okay......I searched for a while and then Google told me the correct way...... Just press Home and Power key at the same time, and the screenshot will be saved in /sdcard/CapturedImages .

Pocket / Read it Later App is not longer available for the nook

Hey everybody,
i know there alot of nook users that use Read it Later (Now called "Pocket").
Since they changed to the new name it cant be installed on your nook from the android market.
i think they discontinued the android 2.1 support.
I have opened a ticket at their support system to get it back on the nook
If you want this too or just want to help me to get it back,
please leave a reply on the ticket
http://support.readitlaterlist.com/...android-21-for-older-devices-or-ebook-readers
Thank You!
Could you pull the necessary files from a Nook that has ReadItLater currently installed?
Failing that, I would email 'Pocket' support and ask for the application. You might get it. It was available publically only hours ago, how strict could they be?
i have thought about that too (add the files here) but i only have the pro version.
I dont think its allowed to publish the apk from a paid app ?! but i dont know, if iam wrong correct me
Yes it now requires 2.2.
Although it never worked properly on my nook anyway. Had some serious scrolling problems. When scrolling down by swiping the screen it would often move in the wrong direction. I had the same problem with the IHT app by the way.
Have a look at the Readability thread in this forum. Maybe that is for you. Its what I am doint at the moment.

Grr. Old app no longer syncs
Wasn't going to complain too much not to get the "pocket" rebrand since readitlater was still working fine... but now it isn't. Can't download any of my articles (though it can see they are there). They must have changed the system to no longer be compatible with the old version.
New ticket here (url broken to see if I'm allowed to post it, I'm a bit noob round here)

But I'm not hopeful anything will be done.
*sigh*
Okay, this "readability" thing then....
You can use Instapaper with Instafetch app. It has eink friendly UI and made especially for nook

Free registration at instapaper.com, free app. from google market "Read later for Instapaper" (author Capone) plus official bookmarklet from instapaper.com for browser which adds current page to the reading list. I almost happy with this solution.
Cons: no images, font is horrible and i see no way to change it, you need to refresh the list manually to download new articles, don't use full screen mode because it will hide options button at the top of your nook. Cheers

Capone's "Read Later for Instapaper" has been removed from the Google Play store. Presumably because it no longer syncs (the spinner spins, but makes no progress) and if you clear data and try to set it up again, the (correct) username and password aren't accepted. Presumably Instapaper have blocked it from logging into an account that doesn't have a $1/month subscription attached (the API is only open to third-party apps if the account does so). The official paid Instapaper app doesn't require the subscription, but requires Android 2.3.3.
Has anyone got a copy of an older version of the official Instapaper app that still runs on Android 2.1?
EDIT: I've found Laters which works on Android 2.1 on the Nook, so I think I'll switch back to Pocket.
I read today that Pocket is now available for the Kobo reader. May be is it possible to use the kobo version on our NST?

There is an option to increase or decrease the text size in the menu when reading Push Text Style on the menu. You can also choose Article view or full web page view in th options.
Readitlater seems to be the best option right now. It is possible to scroll with the nook buttons by enabling "Volume rocker scrolling" in the Readitlater settings. You have to go into Nook Touch Mod Manager and set your hardware buttons to Volume up and Volume down, but fortunately the keys still work fine in reader apps when set like this.
Newer version
This is the 1.3 version. I 've tested it, it works pretty good and has the "volume rocker" option too. Only minus is that if you map hardware keys to volume up and down, while they work well with read it later they don't work with stock reader
Also sometimes you swipe to scroll down but it scrolls up (weird bug..)
