How to reset default button action? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Running MM HD Sense 1.7.
I want to change the default application/action when I press the Phone button on the main screen so it asks again for options.
How do you do that? Can't figure out which application controls it to clear the data.
Thanks

I think you're talking about app defaults. You can reset the default by choosing the 'Clear defaults' option in Settings - Applications - All. It will probably be either Contacts or Dialer where you will need to make these changes.

How to change green button behaviour?

Can someone pls tell me how a can change the behaviour of the green (call) button?
I installed aContacts and there is the possibility to link it to the green button, but I decided then to stay with the default dialer (set as default)...now I would like to change that...but how?
Thanks
Go to your menu and go into manage applications and clear your defaults. Next time you use that app and ask what to be used for defaults you can choose it then.

Thanks for the quick answer, but I cant find "clear defaults"...I go "app drawer" > "Settings" > "Application"...and then?? when I click on dialer I see the usual info plus un-install...*sorryforbeingnoob*
The 3rd button should be "Clear defaults", with first one being "Clear data", then "Clear cache". I don't even have the option to uninstall Dialer, so you might be in the wrong section.
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications
Worse case, just uninstall aContact and install it again. You should get asked again which one you want to default.
@ cigar3tte
ah thanks I see the clear default button...but it is disabled...I checked "dialer", "dialer storage" and "acontacts"...hmm I will give uninstalling and reinstall a try...nope doesnt work either, I dont get a second dialog that asks me what app to choose...f***
Try installing StarContacts. Not saying to use it, but this app also affects the green call button, which should bring the menu back. You can just uninstall once you've set your default again.
If this doesn't bring up the menu, something else has definitely gone wrong.

[Q] Hacking Touchwiz

So two part question.
1. Is it possible? And by possible I mean legal and technically possible to hack it.
2. Where would one go about finding a step by step to edit/hack/modify/theme an apk specifically?
What I'm trying to do is change the App drawer links that TW defaults to. I'd love to have GMail instead of Email and Skyfire instead of the stock browser.
Can you not just drag the icons over and replace? I can't verify since I'm using ADW
Nope, I wish it did. I like Launcher Pro but really would like to make TW work. PLus just want the experience of playing with that.
Really?
Press Applications icon
Menu (soft key) -> View Type -> Customizable grid
Menu (soft key) -> Edit
Drag what you want in there
Menu (soft key) -> save
change the grid back to alpha order if you want

I'll be damned. You're right. Thanks guys!!!
cross flash to i9000
So we can customize it then in stock form unrooted ? Cool..
Mac
I wouldn't really call it customizing in the hacking form of it... Sure you can change the dock around and reorder how the app drawer. But that's more of a built in functionality.

[Q] Nook Home Button help

I have my Nook Color rooted, running zeam, and softbuttons.
I mistakenly chose to have the Nooks home button set to go to the nook "home" and not the zeam home.
In the dialog that comes up when you pick which action you want the button to perform (softbuttons, zeam, home) there is a checkbox that says something like "always perform this action". It also says you can go into application settings and change the preference.
For the life if me, I cant figure out where the heck to change it back to to the default setting, or switch it to go to zeam (which is what I want it to do at this point).
Is this something that can be done in the software on the Nook, or will I have to resort to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873984 ?
Thanks
I did the same thing with ADW launcher. Pretty sure all I did to fix it was to uninstall ADW then reinstall it from the market. After the reinstall, it popped up the "which do you want to use" dialog again.
Download Home Switcher from the market, and use it to change your home to SoftKeys. Afterwards, modify SoftKeys settings to switch which home you'd like to come up, and whether it is a single or double button trigger.
Nook color tools > all settings. > manage applications > menu in soft keys > filter > all > home > clear defaults.
Installing any new launcher ( or re installing zeem) will give you the window to choose again.

[Q] How get back to stock launcher

I have three launchers on my Captivate, original TW, Launcher pro, and ADW. Every time I hit Home button (2nd from left), I get the window to select which one. It has a checkbox at the bottom to select to use the one hit as default from then on.
My question is, once that checkbox is selected (say if I selected ADW), how in the future can I get back to, e.g., TW? I could open Launcherpro or ADW from Apps, (but I would hate to have to go to Apps every time to open it)! But I don't see how to ever get back to TouchWiz since it is not in Apps. ??
Can you make that selection window show again once you have checked a specific default?
Settings, applications, manage, launcher you are using, clear defaults
Use home switcher or go into menu, settings, applications, choose all, find the default launcher, click on it and select clear defaults. From memory but should be close.
after you choose the default, to reset the default:
from homescreen, menu, settings
applications, manage applications
find your current default launcher in the list, click on it
select CLEAR DEFAULTS
hit home and it will ask you what to use
Thanks.
Love this place--it should be named "answers are here!"

I agree...use home switcher. I t makes life a lot easier, especially when you want to try out some launchers without going back and forth to the settings menu.

[Q] [HELP] Always need to select default launcher

Now every time after i long-pressed the Home key to enter task manager,
when i press the home key again,
the system just ask me to select default launcher again.
I have try to use all launcher switcher and deleted all launcher (launcher pro etc)
and now i just have the TW launcher.
Please help.
Hmm, you did tick the box with default launcher right?
(And you tried home switcher for froyo)
And having one launcher you ticked the box and still get the "choose"?
Sorry if I misunderstood you.
Well try to go to applications look for the tw launcher and clear cache/data. But this will reset your settings of the launcher too. But have 2 launchers installed just in case something goes more wrong and you would have to do a factory reset .

Yes , you are right.
i have try factory reset, but as i used titanium backup to backup all other apps other than those launcher.
but seems after i install launcherpro, no matter i uninstall it or not, the problem is come again
find the launchers you dont use in settings > manage applications > 'unwanted launcher'
then un-install it or try clearing data / defaults. that should do the trick.
if you only have one launcher on your phone and you set that as default, it cant ask you which one to choose from.
Download an application name Home switcher and set one as default so everytime u long press home button you it will not ask again and u can reset any default launcher u like ..
