[Q] Nook Home Button help - Nook Color General

I have my Nook Color rooted, running zeam, and softbuttons.
I mistakenly chose to have the Nooks home button set to go to the nook "home" and not the zeam home.
In the dialog that comes up when you pick which action you want the button to perform (softbuttons, zeam, home) there is a checkbox that says something like "always perform this action". It also says you can go into application settings and change the preference.
For the life if me, I cant figure out where the heck to change it back to to the default setting, or switch it to go to zeam (which is what I want it to do at this point).
Is this something that can be done in the software on the Nook, or will I have to resort to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873984 ?
Thanks

I did the same thing with ADW launcher. Pretty sure all I did to fix it was to uninstall ADW then reinstall it from the market. After the reinstall, it popped up the "which do you want to use" dialog again.

Download Home Switcher from the market, and use it to change your home to SoftKeys. Afterwards, modify SoftKeys settings to switch which home you'd like to come up, and whether it is a single or double button trigger.

Nook color tools > all settings. > manage applications > menu in soft keys > filter > all > home > clear defaults.

Installing any new launcher ( or re installing zeem) will give you the window to choose again.

ADW Launcher - Can't long press anymore on Home Screen

EDIT: This has been resolved, at the expense of my own ignorance and embarrassment! Thanks for the help, folks.
For whatever reason, all of a sudden, I can't seem to long press on any icons or on the wall itself on my ADW Launcher home screens. So I can't move or delete icons or widgets nor add any new widgets and etc. from that "add" menu. However, I can long press in the app drawer and in folders, and basically anywhere in the phone except for the home screen.
I've tried clearing cache, reverting back to stock launcher (where I can long press fine anywhere), resetting ADW, and rebooting my phone, etc. Nothing seems to fix it. Holding down on an icon will just result in the orange highlight staying on indefinitely.
Clearly it's an issue with ADW, but has anyone experienced this?
did you unlock adw in the menu? you may have locked the desktop.

Download "Home Switcher" from the Market (free). Open it, then hit "Clear Default" on the bottom. It'll bring you to your current launcher's system setting menu, then just hit "Clear defaults" near the bottom. Next time you hit your Home key, it'll ask what launcher you want; pick and choose and choose to make it default or not.
Hope that helps.

Or Menu -> [ADW Options -> Phone Settings (if using ADW) ] Applications -> Manage Applications -> Go to your launcher -> clear defaults

[Q] How get back to stock launcher

I have three launchers on my Captivate, original TW, Launcher pro, and ADW. Every time I hit Home button (2nd from left), I get the window to select which one. It has a checkbox at the bottom to select to use the one hit as default from then on.
My question is, once that checkbox is selected (say if I selected ADW), how in the future can I get back to, e.g., TW? I could open Launcherpro or ADW from Apps, (but I would hate to have to go to Apps every time to open it)! But I don't see how to ever get back to TouchWiz since it is not in Apps. ??
Can you make that selection window show again once you have checked a specific default?
Settings, applications, manage, launcher you are using, clear defaults
Use home switcher or go into menu, settings, applications, choose all, find the default launcher, click on it and select clear defaults. From memory but should be close.
after you choose the default, to reset the default:
from homescreen, menu, settings
applications, manage applications
find your current default launcher in the list, click on it
select CLEAR DEFAULTS
hit home and it will ask you what to use
Thanks.
Love this place--it should be named "answers are here!"

I agree...use home switcher. I t makes life a lot easier, especially when you want to try out some launchers without going back and forth to the settings menu.

[Q] New to Nook Color

Alright, I did some searching, but like any forum, it's generally messy.
I was interested updating my Nook, to either Froyo, or Gingerbread(?), or the latest firmware from B&N...
Rooting it, and retaining root.
Perhaps getting GApps
Definitely getting Market access.
If anyone could point me to the best links in an orderly fashion, I would appreciate that many folds.

good luck
you don't even need to search. all of the threads are on the first page of the dev forum.
That may be but I wasn't aware that development was for the general user. I'm new here using my husband's account.
Thanks for the help guys.
Sorry for being really retarded, but how to add widgets to home screen? Namely the facebook one.
Also how come downloaded apps don't appear in extra till i reboot the book? I can search and access them but not from the extras menu till reboot.

What launcher are you using, stock?
Yes... is there a method to do it with stock via ADB or a launcher you recommend?
Try LauncherPro or ADW, or just search the market for "Launcher". After you install a new launcher, the next time that you press your home button, you'll see a dialog with the list of installed launcher apps with a checkbox at the bottom.
If you have SoftKeys installed, I'd set that as the default (ticking the checkbox), and then configure SoftKeys to passthru a single press of the home button to LauncherPro, ADW, or whatever you want for a home screen manager/launcher.
Once you replace the stock launcher, to add a widget, perform a "long press" on the home screen. This is simply pressing on an available (no icon) area of the home screen for ~2 seconds. You should now see the "Add to home screen" dialog where you can select from several actions. Select "Widgets" and a list of available widgets will be displayed.
HTH
Ok set soft keys as home now how doi configure it to passthrough?
Go to the app drawer and launch SoftKeys. Click the screwdriver icon on the toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen. This will bring you to the SoftKeys configuration screen.
Select "Virtual Home Button"
Select "Normal Press"
A list of all installed launchers will appear.
Select the one that you want the SoftKeys virtual home button to launch when it's pressed.
Press the back button
Select "Physical Home Button"
Select "Button"
Select the option "Single Tap Launcher, Double Tap SoftKeys"
Now, when you press the home button, you'll go straight to your default launcher. A quick double-press will take you to the SoftKeys app, which acts as a task switcher, among many other things.
Thanks that was a big help guys.

[Q] cm10.1 and context menus

Enjoying cm10.1 via bokbokans hybrid bootloader, but having a strange problem. Seems the "..." context menu trigger is missing from several apps. First one I noted was Calendar. Then Ad away. Now Tasker. I cannot get into preferences menus in these programs. I worked around this for a couple of them by using Tasker tasks calling preference menus via Secure Settings launch activity setting, but there are some programs that is not an option.
Is anyone else having this problem? Any idea of a fix?
Using a Nook HD+ tablet. And the problem is not there when I boot into B&N stock ROM, only happens when I'm in CM10.1
>Seems the "..." context menu trigger is missing from several apps.
You can make the "..." menu button always appear by entering Settings > Systems > Buttons and layout. Tap on a blank space (+), and add Menu (alwaysShow) button.

Home button problem...

Possible a really stupid question... But I have already searched all over Cyanogenmod 10.1 settings
and I can't find where to select what I want the home button to do.
Not really an Issue, But I want to use holo launcher and tap the home button so that holo launcher
redirects me to my home screen when I want... That's where the problem comes in, When I tap the
home button it returns me to Cyanogenmod 10.1 default launcher and I have to launch Holo launcher
again...
So... Where do I set the home button setting in Cyanogenmod 10.1 default launcher?
when you've installed the 2nd launcher, at the first click of the home button the phone probbably asked you whether to launch default launcher or the new one, and you clicked the old one and selected always... so now the default launcher launches everytime you press the home button...
to undo this, go to settings > apps > find the default launcher app (trebuchet?) > scroll down to "launch by default" > click on "clear defaults"...
now when you click your home button - it should ask you whether to launch default launcher or the new one (holo), select holo and tick "always"...
Thanks! That solved my problem, Now I can set holo as the default launcher
whith no problems!
