[Q] Froyo BVJP8 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a CF-root file for Froyo BYJP8 on 2.2. Have galaxy s and cannot root it as i has 3e recovery.
Any help or advice would be great as i am trying to get Darkys Rom on but need to be rooted first.
Thanks in Advance

Try flashing the JPX CF-root kernel.

If this one does not work is it likely to damage the phone at all. I don't want a brick that's all

You did ask about a kernel that will work with your device, I did answer. If you only want to root then try Super One Click.

I'm sorry if I was not very clear
I want to install a custom firmware. To be able to do this I need to have 2e not 3e recovery manager to use an unsigned update.zip file to root. To do this after searching I need a cf-root file to root the phone and not a zip on the sd.
Then I need to use Odin to install my custom firmware.
The phone needs to be rooted before I can install the firmware according to darkys rom install guide

CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1
thats 2 e recovery if you search for that filename .
Suggest Rom Kitchin and build your won rom .

[Q] clockwork and voodoo kernel issue

Hello.
So i've got a problem with my I9000.
I've upgraded it to froyo, official release, so i'm stuck with the 3e recovery.I recently flashed the voodoo lagfix kernel via Odin. I would like to get clockwork recovery to replace 3e, but I understand i have to flash it via Odin, too. My question is : Is clockwork's kernel going to replace voodoo? If so, how can i have them both?
Thanks a lot in advance.
if you upgrade offical froyo then u must first do a root..the root files can be find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108...download correct root for your firmwire phone...then flash it tru odin..when u done with that u must download a rom manager from market...and install it to get clockwork mode =)
I wouldn't follow the previous poster's advice.
If you're going to use cwm, why do you want stock firmware? Try flashing speedmod kernel to get cwm, which has built in root and lagfix accesable from recovery. Or just go to a custom fw like docrom kitchen.
Best procedure for going custom with the sgs is a single flash of speedmod w/ cwm from odin, and then flash anything else via cwm.

[Q] How downgrade Galaxy S to froyo from gingerbread?

My i9000 is on i9000xxjvb stock rom. I flashed modified kernal to make it rooted and cwm enabled. I am unable to move appear from phone memory to internal SD. An error message appears " failed to move application, not enough memory."
To get rid of this, i tried Hamsterbread 1.1 custom rom, but problem not solved. I used every method from hard reset to wipe cache, data and more. But nothing happened.
Now I want to downgrade to froyo. I don't know how to do this? Please, tell the procedure in detail and step by step. I belong to India. There is no 2.2.1 version available for India. Can I go for other regions versions? or I should stick with i9000ddjp6 which is latest verison for India. Thanks
i havnt tried downgrading. but i think you could try flashin back using odin with bootlooder froyo.
i live in india but use european firmware an see no problem
^^ Im not sure about this. I think you can just flash a Froyo ROM via CWM. I am not sure about this. It always makes sense to search around before you do either. Good Luck!
If you flash speedmod (or whatever froyo kernel you choose) through odin, then simply install whatever rom through cwm via zip file. The downgraded froyo rom doesn't need bootloaders, the gingerbread ones are backwards compatible. Tried it myself and it worked without a hitch.
Just flash any stock firmware through ODIN with pit and repartitioned tick and you are good to go.
Makes sense to open eyes and read the post that tells you how .Or even use the search button .

[Q] Help.....please......

Guys,
i really need help....someone......please
I have the galaxy s i9000
It is on stock 2.1 update 1
i have rooted it....but the sad part is that it is the model that came with the bootloader locked....
I have, however, found a way to solve that.....
My question is:
I could unlock the bootloader..using the 3-button fix...which involves installing a tar file of the secondary bootloader using odin....
Then, i thought i can download the zip file for cwm for my device...and flash it using the recovery....
How can i do that??
Is it a viable option?
And lastly, can i install cm 7 on stock 2.1
If not, please please please help me out....it is really urgent...
Someone....please!!
Cheers
I think that you have to flash a JVU with Odin and get a CFROOT kernel. If you begin to this you should be able to flash other roms.

[Q] how to install CWM on ace 2.2.1 stock rooted plz help very urgent

hi all
can any1 tell me how to install recovery on ace 2.2.1 rooted device?
searched a lot but cudnt find?
any link or instructions wud be helpful
thanks.
You need to be on gingerbread to flash CWM 4/5(I recommend CWM 5 for no errors during flashing)
Download the latest gingerbread firmware for your Phone and flash through Odin and after that you can put CWM recovery onto your Ace.
Otherwise the Best solution is to flash Custom ROMs.
But you will need to be on Gingerbread to flash Most of the released Custom ROMs so better flash a gingerbread stock ROM through Odin and then you are good to go.
You can flash CWM v4 on Odin if you're on Froyo

Get CF-Root adpation for Froyo, CWM 4 and Root.
Look in the all roms tweaks and kernels in the dev section

hey guys. my friend has a rogers samsung captivate I896 running stock 2.3.3 . since he saw how i installed custom rom on my xperia play i thought i would install ics for him. i found this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592141 . i am just wondering if i have to flash a ics kernel like how i have to do with my fone. or can i just follow the exact instructions in the link.
i might sound like a noob its just because im not used to samsungs and i recently softbricked my phone because somebody who posted a rom for my fone never mentioned having to flash a kernel, and i dont want that to happen with his
thx in advance guys
yup, root with super one click and install CWM through Rom manager app in the Play store.
You may run into recovery 3e problems, where your install of update.zip gets denied because of signature verification failure; where, in that case you will need to use Odin to flash a kernel with CWM included.
let me know if you have any problems.
so first i try to flash without kernel? and if it gets denied i use odin and flash kernel then go back to CWM flash zip?
Why not just use TRusselo's Guide ?? ---- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19425513&postcount=1
