Hi guys,
after applying update.zip for GRI40, I was reinstalling Swype as usual.
Removed the app, opened installer, it updated to latest version, but now it won't connect to swype beta program, saying that "The data network experienced a problem. Please try again.", even though I have a working wifi connection.
Are you also having that?
Thanks,
Henrique.
Same thing happened to me. It worked after I removed the Installer as well and then re-fetched it from https://beta.swype.com/android/get/
I had this problem with the last update. You probably have an outdated installer. Just grab the latest one from the swype website.
Correct.
There are no problems with the Swype executable on Gingerbread. Remove Swype and the Swype installer, then get both from the beta site again. The new installer should keep things up to date, and as has been suggested, that could be why you are having problems.
Thank you, all.
As I had mentioned, the installer did update to the latest version.
But my stupidity avoided it from working. In my hurry to get ginger all set'n'ready, I misstyped my email.
I do think they should come up with a better exception handling, though.
Apparently, they have a generic exception being caught and they cast all kinds of errors into that one exception, and that's how a wrong email ID ends up as a network problem.
Anyways, thanks to all.

Swype and "Exceeded number of installations" or "Device ID differs"
First, I'm aware that posting Swype apks is a no-no, that's not at all what this thread is about.
I signed up for the Swype beta, got a download email, installed from it, and loved the app.
In an attempt to hunt down a boot loop issue, I've flashed multiple roms in the past few days, and in a lot of cases, started manually adding my stuff back, often going to swype first as it's super useful. Seems I've installed it too many times.
I flashed MoDaCo R18 today, tried to install swype, and got a "Exceeded number of installations" error.
I googled it, and found that the faq says to 1. Email them and tell them to give you more installs, which I did, but I got an "Out of Office" autoreply. They also suggested I backup swype with Titanium backup and restore to the new rom. I tried that, but I got a "Device ID doesn't match the one associated with your swype beta account" message.
I also tried pulling the apk from a good install and reinstalling the apk after a new ROM flash, but it did the same as Titanium backup.
Kinda in a Catch-22 now. Is there any way to import your existing swype install to a new ROM?
Anybody? They still haven't gotten back to me. I just tried to upgrade to FRF83, and got a "Too many installs" error on swype. I registered another email address with the beta, and got "Device ID mismatch" when I tried to install from that email address. This is really going to suck soon for all the people that flash different roms often/devs.
I may be way off base but did you do a wipe before flashing the roms or restores? If you didn't do a wipe than the "count number" will still be in there somewhere. Just a thought.

Yeah, I wiped prior to every rom install.
Restoring to a previous install does work, but you can't change roms our you lose swype.
As topic does anyone know how to fix this? i've trired removing the version on the phone and installing other versions, but they eithe refuse to install or just don't work, or giver a message saying it's expired.
This is really the only issue I have with this firmware.
Has anyone tried out the new swype? v3.25? Let me know how it is!
I installed it earlier today and it seems to work great. They finally fixed the jumpy cursor issue and the new copy paste features works surprisingly well too. All in all, this update was much needed and definitely addressed most of my issues with the previous versions.
It looks just like the most recent swype beta before it.
The jumpy cursor fix is the main thing for me.
I haven't tried copy and paste yet.
I'm running andromeda 3 on my captivate that comes with a non-expiring version on swype but I still want to update it. I've done it before, but this time around its telling me I can't install it even after removing the previous version APK and other files/folders related to it. Any ideas?

I had that trouble with one of the beta installs. I think I had to uninstall, reboot then install. It's been a while though.
I actually found a few more folders with Swype file names. I don't know if that was necessary to delete them all, but I did anyways. And I don't recall if I rebooted the first few times I tried, but I did after I got rid of the other 2 folder/files and re-downloaded the new installer and it finally worked. I like the new features; minor but good.

Hello, all:
I've been using ChatON since day one, and have come to be very fond of this messenger. After I updated my phone to onecosmic's (as it was called back then) ICS rom I tried to download ChatON from the Market, and found that it was not compatible anymore. Not giving up, I copied the apk from my secondary phone to my SGS, installed it, and found out it works near-perfectly.
Today I happend to visit the ChatON page on the Android Market, and found the info has changed a bit. It no longer says the latest version is 1.5.3, but "depends on model", and no longer says it requires Android 2.2-2.3, but "depends on version". I suppose this means that some new version is out, but I don't know for sure. I can't push the app to either one of my phones, as they're grayed out for some reason (even though it's installed and running on BOTH my phones). It's also not on my market's "my apps" list.
So, my question is: Is there really a ChatON version more current than 1.5.3? If so, could someone post the apk?
Thank you all very much, and please forgive any errors in spelling or grammar. Mi written english may be a bit rusty.
here is the latest version : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sec.chaton&hl=en
Can't download from the Market, as I am still getting the "Your device doesn't support this app" message, even though, as I said, version 1.5.3 is installed and running on my phone. If there is a newer version, I'll have to download and install the apk.
Thanks for your response, though. Cheers!

I got the "update available" notification from the market today. There is definitely a new version, 1.6.1 Downloaded and installed. Thanks!
Hello!
I have Slim ICS 3.9.
Today I downloaded Swype Installer. After installation, when I choose to download Swype version I get "Parse error, There is a problem parsing the package". I've tried everything and nothing helps. Please help in this problem. I must have Swype in my phone.
I'm getting that error too on my Nexus 4G (Stock). Try using Clear Data on the app or deleting it and redownloading. Those didn't work for me.. but it might for you.
Edit: If you really want it and don't care if it's a bit of an old version you can download it here
h**p://www.cyberdevilz.net/f128/swype-3-26-92d-38303-multi-language-android-15535.html
Old version may be even better, Swype is not using Google's voice recognition in the latest versions anymore if I recall correctly. They've switched to Dragon dictate or something like that.
Don't remember exact version when this switch was done though.
if your having troubles try downloading touchpal keyboard on the play store its very much like swype just a different name for the most part thats the route i went anyways lol
Thanks for yours reply.
I have a solution If someone have the same problem:
1. Install .apk.
2. Go to settings -> swype settings -> click "download a update".
3. Now click in the same place "Install update".
4. Go to language options and download your language.
5. Now We have the newest version on Swype without any problem.

This worked wonderfully, thank you very much! I was getting REALLY aggravated.
