CM7 + Nookie Froyo + Honeycomb? - Nook Color General

I have just ordered my nook color, and I am wondering will it be possible to make cm7 the rom for daily use and then have a couple microsd cards with honeycomb and nookie froyo for when I feel like playing with them?

That shouldn't be a problem.

Good deal now just to read and really read the instructions lol

Is Bluetooth enabled in CM7 for the nook?

Not yet, and I don't believe it is a high priority for them. There are more pressing issues to be worked on first. I am using CM7 nightlies currently and it is really nice and gets better with every release. I think the Froyo builds are a little more mature but they to have their own issues. Honeycomb is the future but everyone is awaiting the source code to be released before further development but I think it is the one to watch, the preview looks really nice and is usable in its own right but some apps are still not working. Good luck with your new toy, it really is a great device.

NC is awesome, welcome to join us!

Is there an app for car home in 2.2 for 2.1?

I tried the 2.2 Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 Test 4 For Hero CDMA but can't deal with the bugs but really like the car mode with the big buttons with commonly used apps in the car. Is there a way to get that on 2.1?

Bugs? I have no bugs...
Just to much to track down all the patches and tweaks to get everything working right. That one app would keep me happy til it is a little more final.

what rom do you use?

this is just a poll to see what rom is being used the most. sorry if i missed anyones. i just put down the ones that look like people still use. if you would like to share which one you use you could also add which version.
edit.... damnit!!!! forgot to add "waiting for froyo to be more stable" :/ dont know how to edit the poll options
fresh now but might revert back to damage i get errors
Froyo as my daily
Right now Im using Pure Hero. If I dont like it my plan is to go to Damageless again.
Damage 2.08.1
Can't find anything else that I like yet. It's stable, fast and reliable. For me anyways.

Why do I see 0 votes for damagecontrol? lol
I was on the XDA app, couldn't see poll. But I voted now.
CM6 is my daily. I do not have the problems people are having. Runs smooth

Nfinite mostly but I nandroid over to froyo every so often to tweak it. I am ready to give up and wait for something stable though.
Aloysius I think I was lured by the pretty screens and constant updates.
I normally use Damage 2.09.01, but I'm trying froyo for the moment. Extremely fast, and very stable, but it doesn't play wma audio, and you cant delete multiple text threads without deleting every thread...Not deal breakers by any means, and the battery life is waaaaaay better.
Yeah I'll vote when I get on the computer.

Just bought a Nook Color. Need, some advice/help

Do I just bought two nooks. One for my father and the other for myself. I got them so we could have a cheap Android Tablet. Should I put Froyo or Honeymoon on them , also is there a gingerbread build as well. Which is the easiest to flash onto the NC. Also which build\rom has full functionality because we are both wanting flash support for our Business. Thanks for all the help also I'm pretty new to rooting and everything. Only rooted two DX's and a Vibrant. So easy stuff there.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I'd suggest you try out both Nookie and Honeycomb using the SDcard images first and see which one best suites your needs.
I have 2 SDcards (one with each on them) that I've been testing out. So far I'm sticking with the Honeycomb preview. My main needs are to be able to browse the web and it does that well. It also plays the game or two that I want well.
I might be wrong but I don't think Flash is working for Honeycomb yet. So if Flash is a big deal to you, you may have to go the Nookie (Froyo) route.
Either way I'd suggest the SDcard method first. It seems to be the simplest way to try things out.
If you're not comfortable with rooting, you may want to start with autonootering stock Eclair and playing with that first. It's much less involved and more stable.
Is nookie froyo stable
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The froyo is very stable now but you will once a while run into fc issues with app. I have two NC. One with stock 1.1 and running froyo from SD card. One has froyo in emmc. With the overclock, they both are very good.

Thanks. I just put nookie froyo on both nooks with the sd. I love that I, have a, nook and and android tablet. Is there an, easy/noob way to get the market and flash ?

XDA app force closes on Nook Color

I've been having issues with the XDA app while using Froyo or Honeycomb from the SD card. The application frequently force closes.
Also if I try XDA through the web browser, I can't use the search function. I click search, the drop down dialog box appears, but as soon as I click on it to enter text, it goes away.
Seems I can't really use XDA from either app or browser on Nook with Froyo SD or Honeycomb SD (though both worked with a rooted Eclair).
This expected behavior? Any stability differences if I were to flash Froyo to the internal SD (using a class 6 SD card currently)?
NC XDA force closing
I am having the same issue and I Froyo and Homeycomb flashed it to the internal memory....
I am too... I even paid $.99 for the Premium edition to see if it would fix it.(and because I use this site enough to give back a little)
It always crashes for me whenever I sign in to my account
otherwise it seems fine.
Same here. As long as I don't sign in I'm good. If I sign in the app bombs out.
Ditto everybody
I sign in, open a hearted forum, FC.
CM7 nightly v14.
Using XDA Premium on Nookie Froyo 0.6.8, on the eMMC (Flashable thru CWM).
The FIRST time I opened it, there was a force close.
Since then, not one issue--signed in or out.
Same here. I ended up just getting Tapatalk (which is what XDA app is based on) and it works great with XDA as well as many other forums. No FCs at all.

Is that the paid program which costs about 23hkd? or did I miss something in my market?
I am running CM7 v13 and I get a force close after signing in and clicking on a thread. Droidforums app works great though both built off of tapatalk
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Ok, purchased the Tapatalk app. All is well now.
Bought tapatalk. Everything is fine. it also provides a long list of pop forums to choose from. Furthermore, it turns out that 23 hkd is about 2.8usd which makes it a decent deal.
Sent from my Nook Color (zoom2) using Tapatalk
I don't mind shelling out another buck or two on Tapatalk, but I'd also love it if XDA Premium would work on the NC
Anyone have any suggestions on how to solve the FC?
I've run the Fix Permissions, uninstalled/reinstalled/rebooted etc. No love.
I'm running the emmc CM7 23 nightly with the Dalingrin 3/16 OC, ADW Launcher.
I'm having the same issue with the xda premium app. Works great until I log in and then FC as soon as I try to do anything. It worked fine running 2.1 but I recently upgraded to phiremod 5.1 and that is when the problem began.
I guess there's no solution for this? I'm also getting this error with a few other apps after flashing to 5.1 that were working before.
Still worth the update but frustrating for the few apps that will not work now.
5 dollar bounty for a fix.
Same issue, phiremod 5.1 and latest OC kernel as of 3.16, Soon as i try and open a thread or close the app if i signed on, i get a FC.
Premium app or not, this thread seems like alot of, ME TOO, or USE tapatalk..
i want to use the app i paid for, any dev's have any suggestions?
I will gladly send logcat if needed, i just want XDA app to work on my nook color!
Please... i put a 5 dollar bounty on a fix.
killster
So, just use Tapatalk instead of XDA, or install Tapatalk then run XDA?

[Q] Is there any way to port HoneyComb or CM6 for our Galaxy Exhibit?

I think it could be possible if we get the source, and compile it with smartguy's kernal, we could get a build up and running, or maybe a version of CM6, just saying, I'm a fan of it and honeycomb eventhough it's slow.
Not likely, I don't think there is enough people that would use it.... Sorry

There was no separate honeycomb source. It was merged into ICS source with comments. Honeycomb was tablet only ui. ICS combined tablet and phone ui. If you want
to try native tablet ui (not just launcher) try pacman rom. It has tablet ui for gapps.
Cm 6 was based on froyo and has less features than gingerbread. Ginger bread improved android a lot and made it modern and compititive mobile os. It improved memory management and newer apis. That is why many applications are 2.3 + Please Google if you want more details.
Windows phone is closed source os and legally requires license run on phone. That is why you will not see ports here on xda on non windows phone. On the other hand android being open source can you run on windows phone e.g. HTC HD 2.
Assuming you have been here for while and seeing your posts on porting and building from source I can only hope that op wasn't for trolling.

That explains alot.
If you like the look of Froyo, you could install the cm7 port i saw somewhere around here, and install this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014773 apparently it makes cm7 look just like Froyo.
Here's a Honeycomb theme for cm7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943423

Theres no point of actually running froyo on honeycomb, just use a theme
Froyo just seems worthless sorry but it just does. Honeycomb actually could be possible. Honeycomb did have a phone ui. But who would actually go through all the effort?

How exactly do you plan to port it????? There's no source, it was merged to ICS, there is no "honeycomb branch" you could try and port, but our phone has a 480x800 screen, no honeycomb device had this low of a resolution
