I've updated to GRI40 from FRG83G like everyone else (Amon RA though)... but It seems that I'm stuck with the OLD market app: version 2.13.
Any ideas on how to update it?
Connect to Wifi wait a few minutes... open the market... close it..give it a minute... and then it will be updated automatically.
Just to be clear, when you say close, should I force close or go back to the home screen for example (and let it sit there).

Well, I tried what you said. Let it sit there for about 5mins, but the market did not updated.
I've force closed the market app now and will wait again to see what happens.
The above didn't work as well.
I wonder if all update systems on the market are shut down for now.
Maybe this is the reason: http://phandroid.com/2011/02/24/gmail-update-pulled-from-android-market-due-to-stability-issues/
when i started using the rom it was the old market and now its the new one...Meh i dunno maybe it takes time for some and quick for others. Dont rush it
Well, I've waited 24hrs now and still no market update. Very odd...
I'm going to try reflashing one of the stock GB ROM's in the dev section.
I got the market update after I manually updated to Gingerbread. However, later in the day after I did a factory data reset, my market did not get updated. It remained on the old market since then. I wouldn't worry too much about that, it will get updated eventually.
I'm in the same boat. I have closed, and force closed many times with no update.
I'm sure it will happen soon...
(is it ONLY Canada with this problem, or just a coincidence that I see all those flags???)
I had this problem, and took these steps:
Access the market app.
Exit the market app to the home screen. Wait about 5 to 30 minutes (depending on wifi or 3G connection).
Power cycle the phone.
Access the market app. It should start then dissapear.
Restart the market app. It should now be on the current version.
Hope this helps.
Nope, still old market for me. Updated yesterday to GB. Old market. Powercycled multiple times. Tried on Wifi and 3G. None of that seems to matter.
Just isn't updating for me yet.
Seems like there is a bug. I cannot clear data for the market under settings. The button for clear data has been greyed out. This happened after i first loaded the old market and it crashed. Hence, it didn't get updated.
There are two things you can do. Download market 2.3.2 and install it or do a factory data reset. I just did the factory reset. Open up market. Hit yes for the agreement. And once it loads, go back to the homescreen and let it sit there for a while. I opened up market again and now it automatically updated to the new market.
Well, I finally got around to installing the GRI40 rom from the Dev section over my OTA GRI40.
Used the stock unrooted ROM in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=968396
I signed in as usual, but this time, I selected the checkbox where it ask if you'd like to restore previous appliations.
I did not do that before, and so it seems maybe that was the reason. Anway. After I signed into my Google account, I opened up the marekt and it was the old one. I exited to the home screen and let it sit there for about 5mins and when I launged the market again, I was greeted with a white screen and the loading circle. It took about 2mins I'd say and finally, the new market loaded.
Now all I'm waiting for with regards to GB is the new version of Gmail to be released on the market that includes long press C&P.

every time i try to open my market app, it closes within 2 seconds. it doesn't even fully load before it closes. also, it doesn't FORCE close, it just takes me back to wherever i was when i tried to launch it.
does anyone know why it might do that and/or how to fix it?
i got a new G1 today and i rooted it, installed Cyan, & installed the community hero theme. it was working about two hours ago, and now it wont open. i'm thinking i should reflash my theme or cyanogen, but it's time consuming & i just don't wanna go through re-doing settings again.
anyway, here is a Screen of my system info, if this helps.
I'm assuming you already tried restarting it? If not try that, I know sometimes I wasn't able to download things they would just sit in the drawer until I restarted.
However ironic the title may be, I updated my fiance's non-rooted N1 to the official release froyo and from the very beginning, it will work for a few seconds, then it will just freeze for a few minutes. I have patiently gone through and stopped almost every process, and nothing will fix it. It still just freezes constantly and usually requires a battery pull to get it to work at all. I told her she could try a factory reset, but she would rather just go back to 2.1-update1. I'm going to try renaming 22607-ERD79-update-nexusone-stock-signed.zip (or PASSIMG_Passion_Google_WWE_1.01.1700.1_ERD79_release_signed.zip) to update.zip and reflashing it in the stock bootloader on her phone, but I feel like that won't work because it is a previous version and not really an update. Does anyone have any advice on how to just bring her back, or perhaps how to fix her freezing problems on froyo?
Thanks
Try a fresh flash with no apps installed and see how its doing.... if it doesn't freeze then its a app probably ...
I'd like to try that, but she doesn't want to do a fresh install. I'd imagine that if an app didn't freeze 2.1, it wouldn't freeze 2.2. Besides, 2.2 freezes even after killing all applications and services.
I guess I'm really looking for advice on getting it back to 2.1 without rooting her phone.

Just do a factory reset in settings and security ... no reflash. Just cause a app didn't freeze 2?1 doesn't mean it wont freeze 2.2. And even if the apps currently not running or closed, it'll still wack ya phone. I had a freeze every hour yesterday with my chosen apps installed, flashed 3 different times to no avail. Now I factory reset with only 4 definitely needed apps installed and haven't gotten a freeze yet. So my conclusion is 2.2 doesn't like something I've installed so I'm adding a few apps every hour to fins the cause.
Since I factory reset with my few apps. I haven't had a freeze yet all night and morning long..
I'm having the same issue too. Not sure what is going on with FRF91, but my phone keeps freezing and I need to pull the battery to get it to respond again. I agree it very well could be an application, but installing every application one by one and testing would be a pain. Is there a better way to figure out what is causing the phone to lock up? Any time of log on the phone that would be helpful?

Have you tried a factory reset? That might fix it... let us know what you find. I've noticed a couple of freezes as well, but I'm not able to factory reset it just yet because I'm out of town and don't want my phone down for even half an hour.
I have to pull battery a couple of times a day.
I'm having the same issue on 2.2. I have done 2 factory resets. Nothing. N1 call center said slowly reinstall all apps to see if an app may be doing it. No luck.
Is anyone having issues with the screen still being responsive while on a call? My screen will go black but you cant still hit keys when you have up against your face.
I'm betting that you do not have a custom recovery and nandroid backup, or you wouldn't be asking.
I highly doubt that the phone will let you push the old firmware on top of the new one if you don't have a hacked recovery and a test-signed zip. But I don't know - you could try it...
Here is what I would do:
1. Install a custom recovery (like Amon-Ra 1.7.0.1), either by unlocking the bootloader, or by following the directions in the dev forum for doing this without unlocking if you have the fear. If you already a custom recovery, don't worry about this step.
2. Now boot into recovery and make a nand backup!
3. Now go ahead and try this one of two ways - either delete one application at a time until you figure out which one is killing you, OR do a factory reset and then re-add one application or a small number at a time until you figure out what is crashing you.
If it were me, with my 100 applications, I'd probably add 5 or 10 at a time. Once you get crashes after one group, try removing those applications one at a time until the crashes stop. The last removed app when the crashes stop should be the answer.
Of course, since you'll have to have adb running to get a nandroid, you could also just take a logcat of the running, crashing phone and see what app is killing it there.
I did a factory reset today and will report back letting everyone know if that has fixed the issue. Everyone else that is experiencing the freezing issue, did you have Beautiful Widgets installed?
I have that installed, is that whats cousing it?
Beautiful Widgets was killing my N1, too. Freezes, sluggishness, etc. I uninstalled and wiped my cache via stock recovery. No problems since.
I'm on stock FRF91 BTW.

It appears that's the root of my issue. I would uninstall the application and clear the cache and see if that helps. Report back with your findings.

I don't know exactly when this started happening (sometime in the past week or so), but very often when I want to download an app from the market (new or update), it will hang at "Starting download...," but won't show a % or any x/xxxx downloaded. Just the scrolling diagonal stripes. Sometimes I have to go back to the homescreen and wait, other times I have to just cancel it and try again.
Even after that, sometimes after the download is complete, it gets stuck at "Installing" and I'll have to start over again. Other times I leave it alone, and it actually finishes while still saying "Installing."
I'm running stock RUU 2.27.651.5 rooted, the only "tweak" I've done is removed some apks/odex files like Nascar, Peep, etc. Anyone have a clue as to what's going on?
This happens to mine as well. I have the latest OTA update and no root so you are not alone.
Keep an eye on it...the last time that happened with mine, the market had download problems.
when this has happened to me- (been rooted and non-rooted) I've tried to reboot phone and disable/re-enable mobile network.
Another thing I have noticed is one or twice when it looks like it is stuck, it is really doing something else in the background, too. I was thinking that my email or something else was being sync'ed or seomething..
This hasn't happened for a couple of weeks- at least for me.
Mine does it all the time, especially on wifi.. I just deal with it but it is a pain
I have this problem as well. In addition, the Market takes a VERY long time to load and the Downloads takes even longer. My wife has a Samsung Moment and she has also noticed a Market slow down since upgrading to 2.1.
I thought there wa something wrong with my phone but I guess it's a larger issue. Sure makes it pain to install apps while ROM-hopping.
Problem: ROM Manager in the market is in a constant state of "downloading", sometimes it will show its downloading going and reaching 100%, but then it just goes back to "downloading". IF I try to cancel the download, the Market force closes.
Ok, so I noticed this problem after flashing one of the CM Nightlies, so in order to try to fix it, I wiped everything, went back to RC2, problem still exists. I think it was caused by Froyo's automatically restore of apps. I would think that in the initial bootup, maybe turning off those options could fix it, but that would require another wipe. And I've already done 8 or 9 in the fast few days and am just exausted from re-setting my settings. Normally I'd use Titanium Backup to solve that issue, but every time I do a restore, it soft reboots.
Anyone have any ideas?

You know... actually I've been experiencing a similar issue.
At one point with Market it would take at least 30 seconds for anything to show up when I open Market. Then to look for any updates by clicking Downloads it would take another 30 seconds or so. Not a big deal. But then somehow and for some reason it started showing up almost instantly! I would download and install the updates but then Market would forceclose almost immediately after the app finished installing. It made updating or installing several apps almost impossible. I tried wiping the data, clearing the cache, clearing the dalvik cache, etc. However the problem still occurs but not all of the time. It's pretty strange actually. I'd say about 75% of the time I get forcecloses and each time I try to get a logcat I don't have the problem. Go figure.
Picked up my NC 1.0.1 today. Rooted without issue. After having a Google Talk conversation, I lost access to Marketplace, and all Google Apps? Can't log back in?
Anyone else having similar issues?
P.S. My wallpaper was changed as well ?!?!?!?!?!
p.p.s. My browsing history and favorites are gone too? Please tell me an update or something was just pushed out. I feel like I just wasted a few hours of my life here.
My rooted 1.0.1 nook has problems as well. Gets authorization error and resets data. After restoring through the clockwork recovery, had it up just for 5 minutes before it automatically reset again. Lost all my apps, market access, youtube, etc. Don't know if this issue has been discussed before. May just have to go back to stock.
It appears that something is amiss. I cannot sign back into any Google Services.
Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server
This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues call Customer Care.

Would a simple re-rooting solve the issue?
Same here. Was using everything fine Saturday. Turned on the device and in a few minutes I got an error, something about a problem with the registration and it said it was rebooting. It did and wiped everything of my rooted install except the market. Can't login to google account now.

I might add that I got my device it was at 1.0.0 and I rooted then reflashed to stock to upgrade to 1.0.1 and rerooted. Then I noticed after today's unexpected reboot/data wipe (the status screen during the reboot says it was wiping data) it again gave a message that it had just upgraded to 1.0.1 so I initially thought this was an issue with the device thinking the firmware upgrade was not quite done...
Mine quit working as well. Mine is a 1.0.0 that was auto-nootered. Everything was fine and I used it daily. Now it is a brick, nothing I do seems to make it boot. Every once in a while I can get the backlight to come on but nothing else and it just goes off again in a few seconds.
Rather than troubleshoot, I busted an 8 times reboot to go back to stock then re-rooted. Seemed like less headache, panic and stress.
If your NC dosen't boot at all. Try doing a dd of snowfox's boot.img in dev section. See thread for more info. You'll need to boot into NF from SD.

I have tried rerooting, and restoring through clockwork...it seems to always revert and bootloop. Although the reroot lasted a week and clockwork restore hasn't lasted 24hrs twice now.
Not sure what to do but My wife is ready to kill me! I'll have to go stock till someone finds a way to bust up this authorization or just wait I read some ROMs are being developed.
Have any of you disabled the otacerts.zip?
If you haven't it may be the problem.
I have and same on my wife's and neither of us have had any issue, and we use them daily.
I hadn't realized I should be doing this. I will try it. I am actually thinking that my first store purchase came w/ an update (my issue seemed to start right after a magazine trial purchase was made).
Thanks.

Thank you, I will try that. All the searching I did was for disable OTA NC and such but actually searching for OTACerts brought out many many threads that were archived on this subject... I can't wait to get home to try it!
I did not rename the ota file.... will give it a go.
