is there a stock nc rom for emmc install?
Eh...mebbe you didn't quite phrase that right? It comes with stock out of the box. What exactly are you looking for?
If you need to flash back to stock follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690

Are there any steps I should take before flashign to the new ROM? Do I need to flash back to stock first? If so, how?
the instructions are there in the first page of MIUI thread. flash stock froyo rom with bootloaders before proceed with flashing miui.
It depends on which darky your on.
If you are on 9.x you should be able to skip the step of going back to froyo but if your on 10.x you have to go back (easies done with EZbase 2.0)
The whole thing is that when your flashing MIUI you HAVE TO BE ON FROYO and yes you will end up beeing on 2.3.4, this is just to get the correct bootloader.
Hey,
If I have a 2.3.3 stock rom with bootloders and CWM, and i want to flash a custom 2.3.4 rom, do i need to flash a 2.3.4 stock or can i just flash the custom rom with CWM?
basically i need to know if I can skip the stock flash with odin.
You can skip it, but I wouldnt advise it, I would flash 2.3.4 then root then choose your rom.
As i understand it the main reason is bootloders, and 2.3 has the same bootloaders does not matter which 2.3.x version, all have the same bootloaders.
Or did i get it wrong?
No i think ure correct. But it only takes two mins to flask stock. Try it if you like man
You can follow the steps recommended by developer of the custom rom.
To be sure you avoid the nasty thing is better to make an (optional) Hard rest of the phone and after flash a stock rom (I suppose JVR) with his boot loader.

The bootloaders are the same so it doesn't matter.
any way I did it without flashing a stock rom and all is good.
Thats good man, pleased u got sorted out.
This may seem like it's been asked before, but I haven't really seen a clear answer. I am currently on ICSSGS 4.3 and I want to go back to GB until the "encryption unsuccessful - reset android" bug gets ironed out. My question is do I need to reflash the bootloaders? My gut tells me no considering I came to ICS from KK4, but I'd rather check with the xda community first.
I've used the Himdall KK4 one-click while on GB, could I use it again to go from ICS to GB. Bootloaders, no bootloaders? Should I use Odin and select to re-partition?
I've seen conflicting answers in regards to re-flashing bootloaders. I know re-flashing BL can also hard-brick the phone. Makes me nervous playing with BL.
The last bootloaders I flashed were from att, I flashed them when I went to GB.
Any input is welcome.
As long as you currently have GB bootloaders, there shouldn't be a need for you to reflash them coming back to Gingerbread.
I have personally used a Heimdall one-click to go from an ICS build (Fusion) back to stock KH3 without bootloaders, and it worked just fine.
Short answer
is yes. Actually I couldn't use CWM GB ROM zip due to YAFFS2 filesystem of ICS. So Heimdall was the only way to go.
Apex or SauromKK4 are good candidates. After Heimdall you can CWM flash any GB ROM.

Thanks jmtheiss for the quick reply. That's what I thought, but I wanted to double check. I'd rather ask now than have to deal with a headache later.
I assuming that flashing ICS over a GB rom didn't change my bootloaders and I wont have any problems.

Thanks for the input, bravomail. I remember reading about the file system difference between ICS and GB, I kind of figured CWM was out of the question. I'll charge to 100% and give it a shot in a bit. Thanks again for the reply.
Just successfully flashed back to stock KK4 via the Himdall one-click. Worked great. Thanks to brovomail and jmtheiss for the input, much appreciated.
I recently upgraded my Note to official ICS (OTA) and I'm not liking it AT ALL! Now I really want to get far away from this update as possible and I'd like to switch to a CM9 nightly Rom. I've that now that I have upgraded to the official ICS Rom, I run the risk of super bricking my device. So now I ask you to help me make sure the following is correct so that I may move on from this wretched update:
DO NOT perform wipes if you are on original Samsung ICS
DO NOT perform wipes if you are on a original Samsung kernel??
Flash back to original Gingerbread Rom using odin BEFORE flashing to CM9
Flash to different kernel??
I've flashed millions of Roms but this one is scary and I just want to make sure haven't missed anything... Have I?
Thanks for you help!!
John J
Just flash a stock directly rootable GB rom, root and put CM9 on it. Then do a factory reset and you're good to go. Went that way few times already.

Thanks a lot man!! This is pretty much what I thought but I wanted to make ABSOLUTE sure! Cheers!

So is the super-brick BUG on the official ICS OTA?? OMG
And yeah go back to gingerbrear via odin, get root then flash any CM9 tru CWM no problems...
I'd like to do something similar to what the OP wants to do however I have rooted and installed CWM on an official/stock ICS rom. So if I wanted to flash back to a stock gingerbread rom would I need to remove CWM and/or un-root?

There is no need to unroot first. You can flash stock GB rom directly via Odin.
I've now flashed to GB but before I move on to a CM9 nightly, do you recommend I flash the CM9 kernel as well? Seems like it is not a prerequisite but I would like to make sure. Thanks.
John J
afaik, when flashing a CM9 Nightly, the eligible kernel is built in, so no need to flash anything but the ROM.
i'm on one of imilkas first CM9 port and it says [email protected] #1 under Kernel version in settings.
Yes. The correct kernel is included in the nightly.
Hi,
well ICS has finally landed in my corner of the globe.
Unfortunately, the Samsung idiots have decided to roll it out even if it still bricks phones, sometimes even at startup...
So, my phone hasn't yet heard Samsung's call for an upgrade and I'd prefer not to do anything stupid.
Formerly, I was on a GB rooted rom that I updated to the last GB (unroot, then update via KIES).
The fact is, I want to know if there is any possibility for me to flash to an ICS rom directly ?
So far I understood that I can possibly make it even with an unrootable GB thanks to Odin. But I'd prefer not to mess up with my precious...
Thanks in advance for you help.
You have to go back to a rooted GB...i prefer KL3 and only then flash the custom ICS roms..its the safest method...you can know more in the videos. ..links are in ky sig.
Yes you can flash directly with odin
Here is thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
You may find installation and rooting guide link at starting of ICS listing.
Just to add, if you want best performance then take backup(there is limited scope on non rooted) and wipe cache and wipe data from recovery before flashing ICS.
Edit : oh sorry just i read header you need custom ics, i wrote above is for stock ics.
Thanks a lot for your quick answers!
Actually I wanted to switch directly to RocketRom, but it seems that I need first to have a stock rooted phone. :/
So if I get it well:
If unrootable GB ROM:
1/ Flash to stock ICS using Odin
2/ Flash safe custom kernel such as speedmod
My question there is, can I do both at once using Odin?
1/ Flash to stock ICS using Odin
(Still with the french one? It's deemed as being unsafe, any particular recommendation?)
2/ Root the phone with the third post on dr.ketan's amazing thread
3/ Flash to safe custom kernel such as speedmod using CWM
Right?
So if I understand well, the issue is because of the "erase rom" method present on ICS stock kernel is not supported properly by the faulty emmcs ?
So unless on a "safe" kernel: No wipe/full wipe/reset. right?
Sorry for my messy post...
