Hey,
My Nook Color has been giving me problems and I just want to restore it back to stock and start over.. is this possible?
I'll list down what I know about what I did:
- on 1.0.1 used autonooter to root
- tried to install CM7 and got stuck in boot mode
- Installed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690
--- this seemed to erase clockworkmod
- tried the 8 failed boot attempts and got the picture attached.
Any help would be GREATLY GREATLY appreciated!!!
The process using the 2nd image from this thread worked well for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945838
This process should replace your current ROM with a stock 1.1.0 system.
did you try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931720 ?

So, I set up ClockwordMod via http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...m-manager-nandroid-backup-custom-kernels.html
I followed all of the instructions & booted into the recovery menu. I selected backup & it finished. I selected "reboot system now" & the Nook Color just rebooted right back into the ClockwordMod Recovery menu. I'm not sure what went wrong. I followed every step of the instructions perfectly. I've used ClockworkMod Recovery on my Droid 2 (via Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap) without issue before.
FYI: I'm using the stock 1.1.0 Nook Color system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah there is a known Issue with Installing CWR to your Nook via Rom Manager while on Rom 1.1..
Which Versions of CWR and Rom Manager are you using? I thought that they fixed this problem in the newest Versions....
From my experiance with this issue you will have to uninstall CWR from the Boot Partition, and possibly completely wipe and restore the Boot, and inturn the whole system will need to be restored.

Thanks for replying I'm using CWR 3.0.0.5 & whatever the latest version of the Rom Manager is (can't remember off the top of my head). Would I uninstall CWR with adb? Would I then need to restore my Nook Color to the default system? Might you have instructions on how to uninstall CWR?

3.0.0.5 is the old one, 3.0.0.6 is the newest CWR, I think they fixed this issue, but Im not sure, I would check around before you install CWR to your boot partition again on your 1.1
Sorry I though that link I gave had that Zip and Instructions on it, but it just had the Link the Thread that has it on there... >_<

This link has a Flashable Zip that will restore boot, You will need to burn a CWR SD card and run from there.
if you have further trouble after that you will need to fully restore everything.

Thanks, I'm the process of restoring it completely. Kinda needed a fresh start anyways.
flashed to 3.0.1.0 and would like to get back to 3005. Anyone have any suggestions?
Custom nookie Froyo .68 emmc
Just wondering why you want to go back ?
Hello, I guess I went in blind and screwed it up. Here's exactly what I did.
1. Created a bootable CWR SD card and used ManualRooter on my stock 1.2. Everything went perfectly. Checked Market and full app list etc.
2. Copied phiremod 6.2 to CWR card. Booted into Recovery. Wiped data/factory reset. Installed phiremod. No error so far. Wiped dalvik cache (not sure if I ran wipe cache partition). Then I turned it off, rebooted and the Nook is now stuck at the loading screen.
Of course, only then did I realize I got a nook with the new partitions (blue sticker). What should I do now? I was planning to try repartitioning but not sure if that would do more damage.
Any input? Thanks.
Fixed it Went ahead and installed the 2 repartition/reformat zips and installed phiremod on top. Everything is just peachy
hey itaintrite, i'm have a similar issue.
burned my working rom to sd so i could flash emmc to 1.2 manual nooter. prob now is when i boot from my sd it hangs at 'touch the future of reading.'
what's this 'repartition/reformat' zip you speak of?
raze
Similar problem....could use some help please!!
OK. Noob who is eternally grateful to all the awesome folks here. With your help I successfully rooted my EVO last summer. Now I have a problem with my new Nook Color. I successfully rooted (NC 1.2) it with ManualNooter, but now it won't accept any other ROMS. Runs MN fine, but I used ROM Manager to download and flash CM7.0.3, but it hangs at the "n COLOR" boot screen. Same exact result with Phirerom. I was able to restore to MN by somehow achieving the CM Recovery and restoring the Nand backup. Meanwhile, while I am unable to flash CM7, I AM able to boot into it from an SD card. Help, please.

The repartition/reformat are in the thread that helps you repartition your 1.2 refurb nook to the older partition format. You can't install any custom roms otherwise.
I am having a similar issue. I rooted my new Blue Dot NC, I made my microSD card image with CW 3.2.0.1-eyeballer and ManualRooter 4.6.16 followed all instructions, and everything came out fine. installed apps, copied over books etc. all running fine. The problem is when I reboot the NC it will start rebooting and then get stuck cycling in the NOOK COLOR animation. I have to reset it, and re-register it with B&N and install ManualRooter again.
Any ideas why this happens? Could it be an app causing this??
I am rooting again and testing the reset before I add any apps, then app by app and see if something comes up.
Any help would be appreciated.
My Nook Color is stuck at the grey 'n' screen. I rooted it at version 1.2, then decided I wanted to try to use it with Froyo. It booted up fine, then I got the flashable zip and ran that from a CWR sd card. Now it will not boot (stuck at ANDROID_). I've tried to restore it from CWR with the Nook-complete-restore-1.0.1.zip, that didnt work. I tryed using the images from <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919353>. Same issue. I do have access to adb from the booted sd card on CWR or Froyo. My main goal here is to just get it to boot into the normal, unrooted state it came in and work from there.
Thanks in advance guys
Are you using the latest version of CWR (3.2.0.1)?
Follow the instructions here: http://mrm3.net/nook-color-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-nightlies/
I think I was using 3.0.0.6 for some reason I'll give that a try and get back
YOU CANNOT BRICK THIS b*tch!!!

I have a dual boot Nook purchased in July, 2011. It will not boot in stock mode or rooted mode. I have read forum posts for 2 days and have not found a solution to my problem.
I have:
-flashed ClockworkMod Recovery v.3.2.0.1
-copied over the stock .zip file to install
-I have followed the very clear instruction on how to use ClockworkMod Recovery
-when I try to Format /system as described on multiple threads it says "Error formatting /System!"
When I try to boot in stock nook mode, I get stuck on the dreaded big N screen. I have tried the interrupted start up x8 method, and had no success with that either.
Please help.
Greetings Everyone,
I am really stuck with this phone that I am working on right now. I wanted to simply flash a new rom to this phone and I started by rooting the phone which was successful. Once I had done that I downloaded Rom Manager and flashed the recovery mod to the phone. However, It seems that the recovery mod that I had chosen for the P990 was incorrect. As a result when I try to flash any rom or even revert back to my back ups from CWM I simply get the Boot Loop. I am almost convinced that the problem lays with the CWM version that is installed. Therefore, My question is how do I flash a different CWM and I need a step by step help with this since I dont know very much about this process.
All your help is greatly appreciated.
