Greetings Everyone,
I am really stuck with this phone that I am working on right now. I wanted to simply flash a new rom to this phone and I started by rooting the phone which was successful. Once I had done that I downloaded Rom Manager and flashed the recovery mod to the phone. However, It seems that the recovery mod that I had chosen for the P990 was incorrect. As a result when I try to flash any rom or even revert back to my back ups from CWM I simply get the Boot Loop. I am almost convinced that the problem lays with the CWM version that is installed. Therefore, My question is how do I flash a different CWM and I need a step by step help with this since I dont know very much about this process.
All your help is greatly appreciated.

Hello experts,
After CAREFULLY reading the instructions to root and install Cyanogen on my X2, I have run into a problem. After downloading Rom Manager from the market, I installed CWM, which worked fine.
Going by the instructions, I wanted to ensure I performed a NANDroid backup of the stock ROM, 'just in case'. So i did.
After confirming, and granting 'su' privileges, the phone restarted, only to be stuck on the LG logo.
Holding down VOL DNW + POWER is no help, as the phone was still stuck on the logo.
I don't understand what I have possibly done wrong, but none of this was stated in the wiki so I am assuming i'm in a unique situation?
After some googling:
> I have read that it may be from CMW converting to EXT4.. whereas the stock rom can only run in EXT3? .. android.modaco.com/topic/336318-4-apr-r1-backtoext3-for-converting-your-device-er-back-to-ext3/ ..
> All hope is not lost as apparently, I can flash to stock rom using NVFlash: .. android.modaco.com/topic/335474-25-mar-nvflash-stock-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/ ..
Ok, so I understand I have a possible solution to my problem (NVFlash), however I would like to know why this happened & how I can avoid it from happening in the future.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Incase anyone else has the same problem,
SOLUTION:
For P990 - NVFlash instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229407&highlight=recovery
Recovery images: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745&highlight=recovery
Does this mean two versions of CWM are installed?
One with Rom Manager & one with NVFlash?
If so, how to get rid of one?

NVflash is a built in safety system by nVidia, it has nothing to do with the recovery image. You should be very careful with NVflash, because it's very low level and even the slightest mistake could brick your phone.

boot problem
you can try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617458,fl**** with cwm if you can boot in cwm recovery
Would appreciate if someone could help me with my problem - I had earlier used CF-Root to root and install recovery which went off well, took a nandroid backup and then tried to flash CM9 through recovery. WIthin a few seconds it rebooted, showed the Cyanogenmod splash screen and went back into recovery - only this time it was a newer recovery (6.0.0.2) than what CF-Root had installed. I'm not able to install through zip file and for some reason I am not able to restore from nandroid as it says the md5 does not match. So as of now I am stuck in recovery.
To add to this, I realize that I messed up as the instructions said to update to a GB rom if coming from Froyo, which I did not notice. Any idea what I can do from here? If I can still run through this process can someone point me in the direction of a suitable GB ROM I can install? My end goal is to be on CM9, but right now would just be happy to get back to the stock GB ROM as well.
Flash to the stock firmware again? at SamMobile? That is what I did when my device did not boot up after installing CWM recovery and some rom.

Thanks sos_sifou - worked great! I think I'll stick with the Overcome GB ROM for a while as it works pretty good, and look at CM9 / 10 whenever it gets stable!
Hi friends,
I have gone through several bootloop/soft brick condition with my OB so used this method to get out of it in very simple way.
THIS IS JUST MY PROCEDURE AND NOT THE SOFTWARE, SOFTWARE BELONGS TO HUEXXX SO THANK HIM AND AS HE HAS POSTED ALREADY I JUST TRIED TO EXPLAIN ACTUAL USE
Go here
Download the one that suits the rom you want to flash (not currently using but you want to flash)
put rom and the above 1 you downloaded in to sdcard
After flashing your rom following developers steps dont reboot, flash the e-recovery immediately
Job done. Now if you get bootloop or soft brick due to any reason you have g/e recovery to get back to CWM

Hi guys! I need your help. I just got a gt-p7300 and was planning on rooting it. I wanted to be able to back up my rom first so, if ever i mess up I can just restore to the working one I backed up. No I was able to flash ClockworkMod Recovery v5.5.0.4 through Odin 1.85. But when I back up the rom and went back to check my back up by choosing restore, there were no files. meaning the back up didnt go through. did this twice, even flashed ClockworkMod Recovery v5.5.0.4 again through Odin 1.85.
I was thinking probably because there might be a newer version of cwm for my p7300. I was able to find cwm v6.0.0.8, downloaded it and flashed it on to my tab but when I go and back up the rom it still shows that there are no files to restore, the back up process wasnt able to do it's thing again.
Can someone shed some light on the matter, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, it happened to my P7300 once and it is gone now, but unfortunately I don't know how
anyway try the latest CWM v6.0.2.7 , this might solve the problem
Solved the back up problem
Solved the back up problem. I used TWRP recovery.
Thank you for replying. Cheers
Hello friends,
I need urgent help !!!
Yesterday one of my very close friend gave me his Note to upgrade to JB (he was on ICS. LF4 if I remember correct)
So I did following :
1. Downloaded couple of Custom ROMs and PhilZ 6.26.6 on to his phone (External SD)
2. Tried to boot into Recovery and voila.....his HOME button is not working. Anyways I booted and adb reboot recovery
3. Then I flashed PhilZ and it flashed successfully. Since I couldn't boot into Recovery without Home button I did Reboot System.
4. Stuck in N7000 Blackscreen and adb shows Device Offline
What I am planning to do now
1. Put device to DOWNLOAD mode through USB JIG
2. Flash Stock JB (Here's 2nd problem - download links are not working for Stock JB at least not Indian one Can somebody with fast internet plz upload it on dev host or Mediafire and share with us. Thanks !!! )
3. Reboot into Recovery and flash PhilZ
4. Flash Custom ROM
Am I doing things right? Is my direction correct?
I would still prefer if I somehow could boot in current OS, put some Custom Recovery and flash Custom ROM. Saving Stock ROM flash path and ODIN.
Plz help and advise !!!!!
Thanks !!!
You installed a kernel that doesn't fit to ICS. So it's no suprise the system doesn't boot. Install an ICS kernel and at least the system should start again.
And after that: give it back to your friend and let him repair the home button first. Don't risk being the fool who ruined his device.
Update: just read again and saw that right now you don't get a connect with adb. So yes, it seems to be the only solution to install an stock rom with Odin. After that I still would give it back for repair.

Can you give me link for safe ICS kernel ? Will this work http://www.mediafire.com/download/32ik5mg6bgg8q1d/PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRK-XEU-3.99.tar.md5
I need to boot in the current OS once to take backup of EFS (I heard JB wiped off EFS of few).
Thanks for coming forward to help !!!
Yes this is an ICS kernel with Philz recovery. Should work and give you the chance to reboot into the OS.
And a backup of EFS is a very good idea (after a repair in Thailand I'm using a developer imei).
Good luck.
