Smartbench 2011 - multi-thread enabled! - LG Optimus 2x

Hi guys,
I'm not sure if any of you are aware, but I've developed Smartbench 2010 couple of months back for Android phones. But just like most other apps available today, version 2010 does not properly handle multiple cores. I am currently working on Smartbench 2011 which will handle multi-core processors by natively using 4 threads for CPU-related tests (hence the app is really quad-core ready).
Now given that Optimus 2X is the first dual-core phone to hit the market, I'm curious if 2011 works as expected, and also if Optimus 2X is properly configured to use the two cores.
I'd appreciate if anyone here could install and run this app and report the two scores - productivity and games. Smartbench 2011 will auto-submit all test run scores, so you will see a rapid increase in number of results you can compare against, once released to the general public.
Remember, this is a beta version (labeled v0.1) and you won't find it in the market place yet. As was the case with 2010, this one will also be available for free eventually.
Here's the link:

Thanks much!
EDIT: Smartbench 2011 v0.7 has been released. It will now allow you to sort results by either Average, Productivity or Games scores. Please re-install this version.
EDIT2: Smartbench 2011 v0.8 has been released. It now offers a filtering option - you can see all results or just stock clock speed results. Mandelbrot test also has been extended for better precision. Again, please re-install this version.
EDIT3: I have just published Smartbench v1.0 in the Android Market - please install this version moving forward. Results submitted by the BETA version will no longer be stored in the server DB. Your support during the BETA period has been very helpful!

Hi-
I own the Korean version of the Optimus 2x (su660) which has been rooted. I ran the bench and submitted the scores....the games/productivity scores were around 1300/2000

Thank you, I can see them.
I can also see which apps don't behave well with multiple cores right now - I need to further optimize them. It appears that 'Pi' actually executes amost 3 times faster on 2X than it does on HTC G2! But Mandelbrot does no where near as well, which implies there are some artificial bottlenecks within my Mandelbrot code. I need to experiment further into this.
Thanks everyone who submitted the scores - they were very helpful.

Hi again,
I've made several modifications to the original code. I hope the artificial bottleneck that existed in the Mandelbrot test that caused low scores on 2X is now resolved. Also, I've completely removed the File IO tests mainly because I noticed that 2X produces especially inconsistent results. Samsung Galaxy S also had similar issues so I might as well not use it. I've also added new test which basically deals with large string data and also performs some regular expressions on them.
For those who are interested, please install and run the app. It will automatically submit the results to the server, and the result chart will automatically display them.
Thanks again!

Dl'ed the new version and ran it again. Scores similar to the Atrix scores. Not exactly sure what they mean, but hopefully it helps

Should be similar to Atrix since both are Tegra 2 based.
You have two scores in Smartbench - Productivity and Games Indexes. Productivity Index is more relevant for people who use any apps that do not use the GPU, while Games Index is more relevant if you are interested in GPU accelerated apps such as 3D games.
Thanks for the feedback.

HTC Magic
I tried it on my HTC Magic to see what sort of a differance it would give on a crap phone versus a high-end one. Results were, well, horrible
Productivity: 100 something
Games: 200 something

Not surprised.

Just ran this on my Dell Streak 7, clocked at 1.6ghz and scored 4096 games, 2900 productivity

On my rooted o2x (su660) has 1.4ghz oc kernel and GB stock rom,
It scored 3594 productivity , 3357 games.

I get nothing but adverts PILE OF CRAP

Yeah... this is boss.

So I've been experimenting with CM7, the tablet tweaks and all that... but I was beginning to get fed up with it all, including my nigh-addiction to tweaking everything until it was almost-perfect, breaking it then starting all over. So I went back to my daily driver, good ol' Honeycomb V4 2nd Edition and threw Dalingrin's latest kernel on there, then popped off a quadrant just to see what was up...

So, yeah. I'm ridiculously excited for whatever the day we get actual Honeycomb source code.
Viva la Nook Color.
I'm currently running the latest phiremod and I've been getting scores between1700 and 1900 so its not just Honeycomb getting those high scores. I was close to selling this and getting something else but this latest RC4 changed my mind.
I think quadrant just spits out random numbers. My nook breaks 2k and my phone hits lik 1.7k. I run them at the same time, watch my phone blow through all the processor and io tests before my nook, then watch it triple the fps of my nook on the graphics tests, but then the nook gets a higher score? Not to mention the hardware in my phone (except for the screen) is superior in every way to my nook. This is repeatable. Quadrant is not great imho.
But i still think my nook is boss :-D
See, a lot of people talk about how Uunreliable Quadrant is as a benchmark, but among all my Andrid experience ive found it to be really accurate at portraying how well my devices are running! At least between my Nook Color, Droid X and OG Droid.
I'm not saying that this is a ridiculus Quadrant, not in comparison to CM7 or a phone or anything... I just think 1700 is pretty damn good for what's only supposed to be a PREVIEW of honeycomb. I think Honeycomb is great; like i said, i use the Preview as my daily driver despite its inherent flaws. What I've managed to achieve merely says to me that someday, when we have the Honeycomb source, things are going to be beastly on this OS.
I like that idea.
I am amazed that people still use the Honeycomb SDK port. I mean its neat but I couldn't use it as a daily driver.
In terms of Quadrant, it has known issues with Gingerbread causing it to score lower than it should. In addition, the ease that you can spoof the score shows that it isn't the most reliable benchmark.
That said, I can't wait for Ice Cream source to drop.
so is the HC worth useing daily? I'm currently using froyo but if I can find something I can use this class 10 SD card on as a daily I'd switch.

just installed Honeycomb V4 2nd Edition on my nook, what other updates or tings should I update if there are any out there?
Thanks
Yeah, I'm shocked at myself really! Especially considering how much of a perfectionist I am when it comes to GUI smoothness; I've almost switched to WP7 countless times purely because of how smooth Metro UI is.
I think one of the advantages of the Honeycomb Preview is that I CAN'T tweak it any further. It's static, therefore I can focus on actually using it rather than trying to tweak it all the time. Plus, when applications do actually run they run very well. And Honeycomb is beautiful even when jittery. Matias Duarte should win awards. I'm glad we took him from Palm.
As to what you should do? You should hunt down Dalingrin's 1100MHz OC kernel, and then that's about all you can do as far as I can tell. Enjoy the Honeycomb Preview.
I've been using Deeper-Blue's original SDCard HCv4 as my daily driver for about a month ... minimal bugs, works great!
Tried HC v4 2nd on SDCard instead of eMMC ... got a lot of force closes, esp. with the google browser.
Also tried CM7 RC4 with Mad-Murdock's tablet tweaks ... almost makes me want to switch, esp. with great video support ... but I like the tablet email and other HC features too much

Nook Color 1.2 Rooted - Quadrant and Linpack Scores

Just got everything set up after running the manual nooter and did some linpack and quadrant tests to see if there is any improvement over the old Eclair based rom. Here they are for those who care.
Used set CPU to run in performance mode for these tests.

The linpack mflops looks great. I get 11 on a tweaked out 2.6.29 @800mhz
The quadrant isn't amazing but I think its at least an improvement over the stock 2.6.29 kernel. I get 1800-1900 running my latest test kernel @ 800mhz on Gingerbread(quadrant typically scores less in Gingerbread than Froyo unlike other benchmarks)
Looks like 2.6.32 has some potential.
Holy crap....
This is going to be great once we get kernel source and can undervolt/overlcock this sucka
Performance in general is pretty impressive. I dont know how they managed but at 800MHZ it feels just as smooth as CM7 at 1100. I am REALLY looking forward to getting this overclocked.
Flash is smoother for me in 1.2 than its ever been with any rom regardless of clock speed.

There is a post somewhere else that includes an APK for the 1.2 Flash so that CM7 users can replace their current install. Apparently it was optimized specifically for the Nook Color and runs better than the Falsh that's available on the market.

It is true for any site that is optimized for flash on mobile. Youtube is so it is easy to use as an example. However any site can be optimised, it is just a matter of if it is or not. Not sure where i read it either maybe the cm7 user thread?

This is what I've been saying. Unfortunately, the flash B&N uses is worse on videos that are not optimized for mobile. But it performs great on those videos that are for mobile. "Mobile" videos only have 40% CPU usage @ 600mhz. Thats pretty impressive for flash, just wish it applied to all videos.

I have found the exact opposite to be true. I go to a site that has videos not optimized for mobile and on CM7 they are simply not watchable. With the 1.2 flash its not perfect but certainly better than it is in CM7. Which is surprising because when im on CM7 i run 1100MHZ compared to the 800 with the 1.2 flash.
Anyone else have linpack scores on 1.2 they can post?

LINKPACK
score is 6.056 mflops, in 13.84 seconds, normal resolution 5.68, set cpu 925 mhz max/min running cyanogen 7.0.3 will all processes closed.
QUADRANT STANDARD
score is avg roughly 900 and i'm getting anywhere from 3 to 38 fps.
i've owned n1, m.droid, evo and now dinc that all ran cyanogen and never saw such low scores. i don't know if this nook color is just a little premature or that i'm putting too much emphasis on these scores but i believe there's a 2 ghz tablet around the corner with more horsepower. what do you think?

Running CM7 and OC, I'm hitting quad scores of 2400-3000
Try messing with the NC more before you write it off.
I also agree...
If you are getting scores that low, then something is wrong, wrong, wrong.
I am operating on the CM 7.0.3 and have the thing OC'd at 1300.
I get consistent scores in the 2500 - 2900 range...

Galaxy Note beats Optimus 4x hd in quadrant :(

I guess the Tegra 3 isn't optimized for old 3d apps and benchmarks, as the 4x hd lost to a modded Galaxy Note...
Video here on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSUIg_mDE-Q&feature=player_embedded
Dont know if you get different results everytime you run this Quadrant test, but my 4x got 4746 points, better then One X....
Suppose its up to the phone, if it have a good day or a bad day
This occurs only when the update was made on v10b with V10a results 5000 and more!

its no problem to get my quadrant scores hit 10.000 on o4x, and it looks amazing but all it does it use some faster memory which quadrant is not prepared for. (asus Prime can show 10.000+)
so forget testing and comparing models using quadrant, you can easily mod or change scores and especially when its about cpu changes in the kernel, there is alot of optimization and apps changing you can do to improve for a few 100 points more.
tweaking and making quadrant scores show some speedup might not be speedy at all.
AnTuTu is a better test, the Optimus 4x doubles the scores of the Note.
I wonder what LG did to make the phone slower in v10b firmware?

Does it really matter guys ?
I own a Galaxy Note and certainly don't feel like gloating....to me it all depends upon whether you like your phone or not, these tests can be tweaked and maybe with custom roms and optimizations you can get a much better score.
That's just what I believe.
I own both phones, and the note feels faster. Yet the antutu benchmarks tells me its not. I think once we get root on the 4x hd and then custom roms with all the junk removed this phones going to be a beast. Maybe we need 4.1 jellybean to really take advantage of the 4 cores.

you should not be surprised, hopefully.
since android works this way, and o4x got alot of memory for hungry apps wanting to stay in memory and do alot of things.
thats why apps like taskkiller is very efficient to have installed and run automatically so you keep your unrebooted phone snappier all the time.
a few days without taskkiller and it might just get very slow if you open many different apps.
nothing special about that. it depends on the user not the phone.

Daily usage and Gaming performance issue (HELP)

Hi. First of all i search all the forum but couldnt find any solution. As i mentioned Daily usage and gaming became a burden for me. Frankly im suprised that choppy behavior. My brother has HTC m8 and we compared both devices and i lost all of the games
with HTC m8 there is no lag in games and scrolling and browsing the internet, but with note 5 gaming and scrolling is a big issue for me and im really dissappointed. Any help appreciated thanks.

Now that's a lot of testing Pretty sure the scores look normal although I don't know the last ones, but you can always compare.
I'm pretty sure it's the games you're playing. They're probably not yet optimized for the Note 5. Ask their developers!
Or I guess your gaming needs are too high for this phone! An iPhone 6S or a Nexus 9 might give you a better gaming experience although the Note 5 is still a fantastic gaming device!

General Lower benchmark scores than the normal for my Redmi Note 11 6GB/64GB variant.

I have the Redmi Note 11 6GB/64GB variant (bought it less than a week ago). I got to doing some benchmarking of my phone. I first checked the benchmark scores for my device on various sites and YouTube videos.
First, the Geek Bench 5 scores should be (according to YT reviewers' videos and other websites) around 364 for single core and 1500 for multi core . My device's score was 171 for single core and 911 for multicore.
Then I performed the AnTuTu benchmark and the scores should be around 270k but my score was 173847. Now that's a lot of difference, I wouldn't mind if the score was like 220k or something but 270k to 170k is a lot of difference.
I performed the benchmark tests in the first place because I was facing lag even while using Instagram and scrolling through WhatsApp and Telegram, I have restarted my device several times, the free RAM is always around or more than 3GB, I don't have many apps installed either. I have more than 50% of my storage free, nothing heavy was running in background while testing either. I don't play heavy games or stuff but I at least want my daily use experience to be smooth, what's the point if I can't even scroll Instagram without facing lags?
Here are the screenshots of the scores from Geek Bench and AnTuTu.
I'm extremely dissatisfied with this, should I get a replacement? I'm not really sure if the issue is with my device's hardware or it's MIUI's fault. If it's the latter then I'm ready to flash a custom rom to my phone if it will fix the issue. What could be the problem? Any help is appreciated.

Ya the LTE speeds are somewhat slower on this phone. At my home, on my Pixel 4a I get 20-40 Mbps with Airtel 4G, but on Redmi note 11 I get around 15-30 Mbps. It never cross 30 and reach 40 like pixel 4a.
I have the 6GB/64GB variant.
Also slower WIFI speeds. I have a BSNL Fiber wifi at home. Its just 2.4 Ghz but my pixel 4a reach speed upto 90-100 Mbps, whereas Note 11 never cross 50 Mbps. I know Note 11 will give faster speeds with 5Ghz wifi, but sill if pixel can reach 100mbps with 2.5ghz wifi then Note 11 should have been able to reach those speeds too.
Anyways, 50Mbps wifi and 30Mbps LTE speed is enough for me. So no complaints. LTE speed increases to 50-60mbps when I am in good network coverge area.
it fixed itself or the update i did manually helped (V13.0.7.0.RGKEUXM) but the score now is this:

Can you make a couple of phone calls and try out the same benchmark? I am sure you should see decreased performance.
Check this for what's going on in detail.
