I am on Auto-Nooter 3.0, version 1.1 on a new Nook Color, and my first post here, appreciate the work that you do. I am new to android.
This question may have been already answered, but I couldn't find it with a simple search. I wish to uninstall the Gmail app since the "Mail" app is doing a great job - I hate to receive duplicate New Mail notification.
Thanks for your help.
Not sure on this but it may be needed for the mail sync to work properly. You can always disable the notifications in the gmail app settings

Running and loving the VEGAn 5.1 ROM and the G-Tab in general but I am getting double hit on every Gmail email since Gmail app and email app are checking the same account. I know that I can kill one or the other as a temp fix but is there anything more lethal/permanent?
Thanks - I tried searching but did not find anything so if I am asking a repeated question - sorry.

That did the trick, thanks given.
I know when I first got the D3 both k9 and regular mail (not gmail - that still behaves as expected) offered launch icons from contacts, including blur contact widget.
Since rooting & debloating I no longer get the option.
Yesterday I rsd flashed -55 firmware, and now I'm bone-stock (except @ build 55 instead of 20 since we can't flash backards), but I stilll don't get k9 as an option.
Any clues how I can restore K9 mail as an app launch option in contacts?
Thanks!

Not to mention the obvious but you have K9 installed right?

Yes. Installed, reinstalled, etc.
I figured out what it was. Gmail was selected as the default mail app, so that's what comes up. I cleared that setting, now I get a choice of all mail apps when I click on the mail launch icon. Not ideal, but better than before.

Hello everyone,
I have a big problem. My gmail app doesnt work correctly anymore. I pre-installed it some times but it doesnt fix the problem. I used 2 or 3 apks but all of them have the almost same version. As i said it did work but not anymore.
Using rom: stocklite 7.1
Gmail version: 2.3.5.2
Problem: if im getting a mail it doesnt show me that. It only says no conversation or something like that. The only way im sometimes able to check up the email is the point in the settings important mails.

Hmmm. Do have priority inbox set up? Have you checked Gmail is set to sync (in settings > accounts and sync > tap on Google account and set Gmail to auto sync)? If you are going to try uninstall it in order to reinstall don't forget to wipe the app data. Try a different app like k9 and if the problem persists you can be sure the problem is with your account and not the Gmail app itself. I hope this helps as I'm not exactly certain I completely understand the problem. Sorry

Hi Folks,
I've come from a Samsung Galaxy S3 to a new shiny HTC One which was delivered a couple of hours ago. Just getting set up and was wondering whats your preference for email setup. With my company using Google Apps i've always just gone ahead and used Gmail but was wondering if the 'Mail' app was any better?
Regards
Sam
They are both really good, I guess if you have multiple email accounts the mail app is better than the dedicated gmail one because you could easily switch between accounts

I use the Mail app because I have 4 email accounts so easier to manage, I would still use this app if I only had one gmail account tbh, its much cleaner looking.
Gmail definitely. Don't like the native app.
Probably no help but I have been using both the HTC native mail app as well as the Gmail app. Personally I like the look and feel of the native app but I think I have been just to used to running my email accounts on separate apps, hasn't hurt me yet.

Hi All....i had a similar question. I am having a difficult time with the native email app that it wont scale my e-mails to fit the screen. Can someone please help me with this. The gmail app does it automaticaly....but i cant get the HTC one native app to do the same.
I apologize in advance if this has been answered somewhere as I couldn't find anything relevant when I searched. I am trying to enable push email on my Gmail account using the native app. I know this can be done with the Gmail app but is there a way to active push on the native app with Gmail?
Many thanks for the help.
Just use exchange for now till they kill it soon.
