[APP] EB01 Droid X Multi-Touch Keyboard - Fascinate Themes and Apps

I found a Droid X keyboard that will work with our Froyo Fascinates and thought I would share it. This is the original work of Punk.Kaos to get it working for Froyo on the HTC Droid Eris. Here is the original link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764021
IT IS NOT MY WORK, I ONLY FOUND IT TO WORK WITH THE FASCINATE FROYO.
Make sure you follow the instructions. This zip is NOT flashable in CWM. You must adb push or manually move these files to the correct locations.
There are two files in the zip,
libjni_latinime.so to /system/lib
droidx-keyboard-kaosfix-v3.apk to /system/app/
*After you add the files to the correct location, you may find that you have to restart your phone if the keyboard does not show up immediately as Multi-Touch Keyboard in the Input Method List.

Doesn't work for me..I'm using stock deodexed EB01.

I found the answer to my own question. Punk.Kaos is the original 'fixer' of this keyboard. It works on my EB01 SuperClean 2.6 Rom perfectly.

Did you try to do this? You do know also that this zip is NOT flashable in CWM!
There are two files in the zip,
push libjni_latinime.so to /system/lib
push droidx-keyboard-kaosfix-v3.apk to /system/app/

I always have hell with this. I used root explorer to move both of the files to their required place, rebooted and it didn't work. It never does :/ lol

hmm seems to be working ok. Thanks

Mine works using root explorer to push the 2 files per the instructions.

Nevermind, fixed it. had to delete the stock android keyboard first.

Were you able to get the black keyboard to work? I tried using the v4 flashable zip and now I have input.latin force closes..
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Does anyone like this over samsung keypad or android keyboard? Im not sure if this is better than the stock keyboard

No matter what I do it won't work..
I really like how nothing I do in root explorer will take effect at all..changing permissions, renaming files, moving them...nothing takes effect.

Well, not sure where to start...Did you unzip the files you downloaded to the root of your SD card? If so, after that take the file named droidx-keyboard-kaosfix-v3.apk and copy it to the directory /system/app (make sure R/W is enabled in Root Explorer) Next, take the file named libjni_latinime.so and paste it into the directory /system/lib. (It will ask if you want to overwrite the current one; say YES.) Finally, restart your phone and now the keyboard should show up in your Input Method Selection.

I loved the multitouch back in the 2.1 days. I did find a great gingerbread keyboard in the markplace which I like just as much. Search gingerbread keyboard.

[MOD] 2.2-Style Notification/Power Menu/Settings Icons for 2.1 Captivates

Figured I'd share these since I threw 'em together after using 2.2 for a bit and going back to 2.1...
They're modified framework-res.apk, Mms.apk, and Settings.apk files. You can copy and paste them over the existing apks via RootExplorer (which is the method I used), or you can push them via adb...provided your permissions are setup and you don't get the "access denied" messages.
I think I managed to get all the notification/settings menu/power menu icons skinned. Most of the dialogue pop-ups are also the dark blue now, instead of the regular blue from 2.1. Also, the battery meter is basically the stock battery meter, but it's actually accurate. It's the same one used in the Cognition ROMs, minus the numbers.
I've only tested these on my phone, obviously, but they worked on Cognition 2.1 as well as stock 2.1 ROMs.
Instructions:
#1: Rename files by removing "TWEAKED-" portion from file name(s).
#2: Copy or push files to appropriate folders via RootExplorer or adb. (framework-res.apk goes in the "/system/framework/" folder, Mms.apk and Settings.apk go in "/system/app/" folder).
#3: Reboot. Depending on how you copy files over, you might get a force close error before you reboot.
Enjoy!

I just copied the framework/mms/settings apks from both 2.1 and 2.2 to my computer, and then grabbed the image files out of the drawable-hdpi folder in the 2.2 apks...moved those into the 2.1 apks, and then moved the updated apks into the appropriate folders on the phone with RootExplorer.
Hopefully that makes sense. Haha.
Any idea why my battery icon wont show? I have the phone rooted and have Root Explorer installed. I renamed the stock apks and just pasted the new ones in. Also the Power Control widget does not work any more. Says "problem loading widget"

No idea, I've never had either issue. You can try copying the APKs over again and rebooting to see if the battery meter shows again.
None of the APKs should have any effects on the widgets. I don't use Power Control but SwitchPro and everything else works fine.
Sent from my Samsung Captivate (AT&T/XDA-App)
Also, if you're renaming the stock APKs on the phone with RootExplorer, instead of just making backup copies of them, before copying over the new ones, that could be causing problems. That's the same as actually deleting the stock APKs, which are necessary system files. I've only installed them by overwriting the existing APKs with the new ones, then rebooting.

How to install: Gingerbread keyboard

NOTE: This may replace your current Android keyboard! Make a backup first if you want to revert!
1. Download the gingerbread keyboard: http://fabdroid.com/downloads/Fabolous_GBKB_Fix.zip
2.Use root explorer (or whichever to push files) and extract system folder from zip to your sd. Then copy latintime.apk to /system/app and the lib file to /system/lib.
3.Then flash this APK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=457922&d=1291697158
4. Long press in text box and select "Android Keyboard" and BINGO!
P.S. I have a theme so mine looks a tad different than yours!

why cant we just install using astro or something like any other keyboard and turn it on and off in the input settings? why do we have to push and write over the stock one?
This is a V2 bug fix version. You dont want the stock version after using this trust me.
awesome!!!
this keyboard is great!!!!!
Worked great thanks, the only thing is that you have on your notes to flash the apk but that was not the way i got it to work, instead after moving the files from the zip like you said i also copied the apk file to system/apps rebooted then installed the apk file and it worked lik a charm, just an fyi.

I cannot get this to work for the life of me. granted I'm trying to do adb from memory and I havent used it in forever.
adb shell
mount
adb push
that's the order right? I just cant get it to work for the life of me.
the explorer built into froSHEDyo won't let me copy/move files to system
okay, i finally downloaded super manager (great app btw) and got the two files into the app/lib folders
then i try to install that apk, and it wont install!
so now I don't have keyboard... luckily i still had an apk of that thumb keyboard so I'm using that for now.
I'm gonna go try that flashable .zip :/...

Update to newer version of Swype - Here ya go..

Ok here goes.. This version of Swype is WAY more accurate that the stock version. It makes it SO much nicer to use.
Flash at your own risk. It worked ok in IRC last night, although some ppl did have problems flashing via CWM.
The Root Explorer method seems to be working for everybody.. so have at it, just make a backup first.
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP!

I dont want to hear it when your Swype is borked and you cant get it back because you didnt do a backup, not my fault. You have been warned!
Instructions:
Step 1. Change your default keyboard to the stock android keyboard, or any keyboard other than Swype.
Step 2. Using Root Explorer, Delete Swype.apk from /system/app/ and libSwypecore.so from /system/lib/
Step 3. Pull Swype.apk from the .zip file in this post
Step 4. Copy Swype.apk into /system/app/ using Root Explorer
Step 5. Reboot
You can also try just deleting Swype.apk from /system/app and libSwypeCore.so from /system/lib/ and then flashing the zip file via CWM, but some have success that way, and some dont. Not sure why, but its about 60/40.
Works great for me, follow the instructions and let me know how it turns out for you

Followed your instructions with Blackhole Rom (DJ01). Keep getting FC's. Even after clearing Cache, Dalvik and Fixing permissions.
Going to see if I can investigate why. Will keep you posted.

I had same problem. Running dj05 with stupid fast kernel.

I had to totally uninstall the Swype app using ADB (adb uninstall com...swype...)
and then fresh install it.
Br broke my swype too, force close hell :-(
I wanted to try this but i guess i'll wait since i'm also running DJ05 stupidfast 1.76 with blackhole 2.2. I don't need the FC hassle...lol...hopefully it will get fixed cuz i would love to try it.
I started reading this excited and as I moved down the page I was slowly discouraged. I will have to give this one a try and home when I have my main computer.
I just tried this and can confirm thr above claims. Followed given instructions to a t.

yupp getting the FC of hell now
This was tested in IRC last before releasing, and the only people who had trouble with it, were the people who did not follow the directions to a T.
Have you guys done EVERY step? Let me know...
I had to delete the libswypecore.so and the swype.apk file both before flashing this, and then it worked fine. I love how much smoother this works. Great job!

How did you delete swype? I tried titanium backup force remove but it conflicted with the cwm update.zip. Tried a root file manager but that failed too

Delete the apk and lib using root explorer.
Then install the apk in the op zip I didn't flash through cwm.

Finally got it to work after using root explorer to delete apk then pushing the updated apk in. apparently i forgot To mount as read only. Also didn't know you had to delete libswypecore.so again after flashing. Thanks for this!

It's because it needs to be installed in /system/app
Try doing this
Instructions:
*You can try to install this .apk over top of your current market, but it may not work. If it won’t, then you will need to be rooted and follow the instructions below.
1. Download the file from above (Market-3.4.4.apk) to your SD card.
2. In Root Explorer, find the file you just downloaded and copy it.
3. Move into /system/app and hit the R/W button to mount – then paste the file.
4. Find Vending.apk and rename it to something like Vending.apk1.
5. Long press on Market-3.4.4.apk and rename it to Vending.apk.
6. Afterwards, long press on it again and choose “Permissions.”
7. Change the permissions to this:
{

Thanks for the post... but i am still having problem buying apps.
Simple translate:
Error
An error occured, please try again.
I get build version 3.3.12 when doing that. is that correct?
I did the same. Then out of exasperation, within root explorer, I ran the APK, was prompted to overwrite my other system app, and I did it. I assume the fixed permissions had something to do with it, but it worked for me.
I noticed a huge difference in speed and loading, well done Google

Can't even open it, keeps FCing. Was it cause I deleted the old vending.apk?

Fix permissions, reboot. Still not working ? Must be kernel problem, not sure. Works for 90% of the people flawlessly.
Problems related to buying apps could be (not asserting) server side problems which many faced during sale.
Well I am running a Trinity kernel, which one do you recommend? I just want my market to work I changed permissions like said in the past posts

Try fixing permissions through Recovery or Rom Manager also.

or just use rom toolbox or TI to uninstall it. the site also states that you need to remove /system/lib/libswypecore.so

Just installed it. Grab another keyboard before you try this. BO only has Swype. No other keyboards.
I uninstalled all Swype from system, then deleted anything else that said Swype from the app folder. Pushed the themed Swype to the phone with adb, then reboot. Then for some reason I had to go in with root explorer and physically install the Swype from the apps folder.
Crude and it downgraded my beta to the most recent, not the current version. The theme maker states that the latest version keeps fc'ing and won't take the themes. Oh well, I like it. Goes good with my lunar theme.
