Installing Gapps on CM7? Use Rom Manager? - Nook Color General

I installed Rom Manager 3.0.1.0, backed up my rooted BN 1.0.1, and then installed cm_encore_full-11. CM7 is cool, and browsing the web was great, but....
How do I install all the Google Apps? I downloaded the gapps-gb-20220220-signed file from the Cyanogenmod site, but I don't know what to do with it. How do I install market and such?
I don't have a bootable SD card, I followed the manual instructions on installing rom manager, since I could just cut and paste the adb instructions. Can Rom Manager install it?

I was missing my files after a froyo flash and I followed the instructions on this link and it worked great. http : // forum . androidcentral . com / barnes-noble-nook-color / 55420-how-new-version-install-nookie-froyo-internal-memory . html (remove the spaces, I have too few posts to be able to post links)

[Q] No Market on Custom ROM

Hi,
I have just rooted my phone and Indigo Bean is first ROM I have flashed. I have to say I am really impressed with the speed of the device and the it also looks cool to boot. So big up, thanks for all your hard work.
One thing I cant get my head around though is that there is no 'market' app available? I also tried Azure, which loaded ok and worked a treat but there was also no 'market' app available. Am I missing something? I read something about flashing google apps but cant find anything specific to the HTC Legend.
Thanks guys..
You need to install Google Apps. Download the zip gapps-hdpi-FRF91-2-signed.zip (search the forums). flash the rom, then without wiping flash again with this zip.
Ok, sorry, but I'm not that technical tbh. Have you a link to working instructions etc.
From what I can gather, you are asking me to download that zip file. Then save it the root directory of my SD card. Then reboot into recovery mode and select flash from SD card. then I select the .zip file from the menu and reboot?
Sorry for the noobness, still getting my head around all of this.
If you would read the threads about those two roms you would learn that you need to flash two different files. First the Rom and then the file containing Google apps.

the file can be downloaded here: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=gapps-hdpi-FRF91-2-signed.zip (just google it!)
And yes, flash your rom, enter recovery again (using rom manager), flash zip from sd card, choose the google apps zip (the one you googled above) and flash. Not that difficult!

Apps2SD + Universal Androot + Stock rom

Last time I wanted to root my g1 and i got brick I wanted to install the apps to sd card.
Tomorrow I will get my g1 from repair and i still want to install the apps to sd.
Does the Apps2SD work with Universal Androot on the stock/oryginal rom?
I have the same question. I'm not interested in changing my ROM and flashing. app2sd without flash
There is another discussion referencing this:
http : // 208.100.42.21 / showthread.php?t=769803
It points to a Vietnamese website:
http : // www . tinhte . vn / thay-doi-nang-cap-firmware-280 / app2card-2-5-15-10-cai-dat-ung-dung-len-nho-phan-vung-456586 /
that is doing an apps2sd. I haven't tried it and I don't think I will.
PS: I can't post links yet. Remove spaces above or find the references in the forum with
Motorola Flipout / Flipout General / [Q] Motorola Flipout rooted. How to apps2sd?
Impossible. In order to install your apps on SD card, you need root access and modified binaries for system to know that you have external partition. Your best bet is to install AOSP rom. Closest thing to stock but with root access and A2SD

Install Android Market on Chinese P1010 (Wifi only)

Hi all,
I have read a lot about this, and I've tried to do it on my own but I've encountered some problems. I hope the experts here can help me out.
Here is what I've tried so far:
1) Rooted the device (success)
2) Installed ES File Explorer via SD card
3) I found there is no vending.apk in the system/apps folder on my tablet. So I copied (I tried several versions I have downloaded or stripped from ROMS) and tried to install there.
Problem: When I click to install the vending.apk, it simply tells me that it wasn't installed. Permissions are set to rw.
Next, I tried using ADB to install the vending.apk. When I use ADB, I get either INSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY_EXISTS or (after I delete the vending.apk from the tablet and try again) I get INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK
At this point I'm at a loss. Am I trying to use the wrong vending.apk version or something?

I have also found this post on a Chinese forum regarding the tab. I'm posting the Chinese and Google translate version (in case you can read the original).
BVis1N2k4N0VLTkE%3D
3. 下载谷歌服务包http://u.115.com/file/f5d6693df# system.rar

Spend a day of N posts and finally get, no need to brush ROM, follow these steps:
1. Get Root permission: Reference Links: http://bbs.gfan.com/android-586002-1-1.html, including the latest version of SuperOneClick program can be downloaded here: http://forum.xda-developers. com / showthread.php? t = 803682 which also includes Samsung drivers
2 Download File Manager RE: http://bbs.gfan.com/attachment.p ... BVis1N2k4N0VLTkE% 3D
3 Download the Google service pack http://u.115.com/file/f5d6693df #% 20system.rar
4 install the service pack, will be one of the ETC directory of the Host file to the P1010's System / etc directory
5 At this point you can see Google account already in the system account to add, I once found Rom server, the system was actually found time and time differences between the actual result
6. If it is found in the electronic market will automatically download error and exit, mostly because of access problems, please refer to Citie address: http://bbs.xda.cn/thread-5266029-1-1.html Please note that one file name and we installed the service pack file names are different, we will be one of the com.android.vending.apk into the actual service pack can be installed vending.apk.
Now finally a clean, you can freely download the electronic market things!

The link to dowload the "Google service pack" is expired. What is this file? How do I get it, and what do I do with it?
Finally got the Market and other Google apps installed. Just needed the right version I guess.
Market opens. I can see apps listed and I can search. As soon as I try to view an app or click on My Apps, it force closes every time.
What would cause this?

[Q] No marketplace in CM7

First, I apologize now if this has been answered before. I searched through the forum and couldn't find anything that worked.
I have a Nook color ( not sure if is blue-dot, it is firmware v1.2 ). Using the instructions on this forum, I imaged an SD card with the latest CM7 ( cm_encore_full-232 ), put into Nook, booted, and all worked. Shut down, and copied gapps file (update-cm-7.1.0-encore-signed.zip) onto card. Booted into Recovery mode, it did its' thing, and shut down. I re-booted, connected to WiFi, added my gMail account to the e-mail icon, and all seems to work.
Except, I have no Apps icon. I tried re-flashing the gapps file and suggested in another thread, with no change. I saw another post that said, when I add my Gmail account, it should download the marketplace automatically. It didn't. I saw another post that said to check a file is in the /apps folder, or something like that. I don't know how to check that.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Try this:
The Google apps zip is usually named gapps082811.zip. You can get it from ron manager or goo-inside.me. Flash that (that's the gapps file) and you should get it working.

It is the CM7 7.1 stable ROM, not GApp.
Redo the gapp and see what happens.
That did it
When I followed the link about the gapps file, it said to find the one for my version of CM. That was at the top of the page. Unfortunately, that was for an update to CM7. The gapps file was at the very bottom. Found it, installed onto the Nook, went crazy looking for an "Apps" icon, finally figured out it is actually "Marketplace", and have just gone nuts downloading apps. Even Netflix looks OK.
Thanks for the assist.
Good
Glad I could help.
